Under act 46, the commission used what they say is their legal right to blow up the contract with the Teachers Union. Were going to send 15 million, beginning this month, directly to schools. Where principals, along with their leadership teams, will determine how to use those new funds to meet student needs. Reporter that new injection of 44 million will comec out philadelphia teachers pockets. In the past, teachers did not have to pay for medical benef benefits. Now the district says they will contribute 21 to 70 per pay period . Why now . Theyve refused to make meaningful financial concessions to help us deal with our deficit. Its an absolute lie to say the pft has not negotiated. They have offered a wage freeze. The pft has offered changes in benefits and health care. The outcome may be something different. It doesnt excuse the fact that you cant do this stuff in secret behind closed doors, have zero conversation about it and expect anybody to stand up and say good job, guys. Ali was accused of hitting a pedestrian at second and market streets in july and then taking off. That arrest came two months after ali was charged in a road rage incident in center city. In that case, police say ali followed a driver with her 4monthold daughter and another woman in her car and fired shots at her window. No one was hurt in that case. Ali is waiting to go to trial on that case. Pennsylvania is the only state that does not allow local municipalities to use radar guns. A local community is supporting new legislation that would change that. Upper darby lawmakers and Police Officials want to enable all Municipal Police to use radar for speed enforcement.
