Now to developing news out of kentucky. Police are looking for whoever shot a student inside a Louisville High School today, prompting an evacuation. The student was taken to the hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries but its unclear if the shooter was a student or not. In this video you can see fern creek students walking out of the building with their hands on their heads. And another shooting happened at a school in North Carolina before classes started this morning. A School Resource officer stopped the shooter and police recovered a handgun. Officials say the student was shot in the leg but have not released his condition. There are two more concerned cases of enterovirus d68 in new jersey. The centers for Disease Control and prevention released test results. The new cases are pediatric patients from essex and passaic counties. Both were in the hospital and are now recovering at home. According to the cdc, 443 cases of evd68 have been confirmed in the u. S. , including in pennsylvania and delaware. An offduty officer shot a suspect in burlington county. Authorities say it happened after basil warren got him from his shift around 3 00. He went inside, when he came back out, the officer said he found 26yearold tashawn fitzpatrick in his truck. It all unfolded outside warrens home on stevenson avenue in edge water park, much to the surprise of neighbors. Saw the flashing lights and just curious about what was happening, looked out the window. Its just not safe anywhere anymore. Its a nice, quiet neighborhood. Nothing really happens here much. The suspect was able to drive the truck down the street a short distance. When Police Arrived they fond officer warren administering first aid. Fitzpatrick is in the hospital right now in critical condition. Its day 18 and the manhunt for suspected cop killer in pennsylvania and Authorities Say theres been at least one credible sighting of the suspect in the past 24 hours. State police say they also found two pipe bombs in the woods during their manhunt. Authorities say the pipe bombs were among other items that appear to be hastily discarded by eric frein. The 31yearold has been on the run since september 12th, accused of killing one state trooper and wounding a second outside theirc police barracksn pike county. The pipe bombs had the ability to be detonated by trip wires or lighted fuse. These devices are consistent with freins nonconfrontational and gutless efforts to kill or injure Law Enforcement from a distance. With deer season set to begin this weekend, authorities are warning hunters to be on alert and call police if they see anything suspicious. Six people in this northeast philadelphia Apartment Building were forced out of their homes after a car that you see there crashed right into the building late this morning. Police say a student driver lost control of her car and smashed into the building in the 9900 block of academy road. One woman was taken to the hospital. Police havent said if the woman hurt was in fact that student driver. Now to a new Consumer Concern today. One of them was armed with an ak47 type of rifle, this is Surveillance Video from inside the store on lebanon avenue. They took off with an unknown amount of cash. A videotape confession played a Critical Role in the double murder trial of a man accused of killing a Montgomery County baby and the childs grandmother. The defendant is acting as his own attorney in this case. Nbc 10s Deanna Durante was inside the courtroom. Deanna, what kind of reaction did the jury appear to have during todays proceedings. Reporter they sat stonefaced and staring straight at that video screen that projected the 17 confession that Raghunandan Yandamuri gave police. Was in custody for nearly 16 hours before he agreed to give a videotaped confession in which he told he killed the 61yearold grandmother and kidnapped her 10monthold baby because he wanted money. c you have something in your left arm. Reporter its a major piece of evidence against Raghunandan Yandamuri and one prosecutors spent the day leading up to. The confession on tape. Yandamuri admits he killed 10monthold saanvi and her grandmother. He acts out how the murder happened. You dropped saanvi and you fell. You camden straight, you can touch him. There you go. And fell. Then what did you do . Reporter prosecutors say what yandamuri says next cri contradicts evidence theyll present. He goes into somewhat of a selfserving statement in regard to the baby. I splashed water on her face but she did not respond to that. Reporter yandamuri told police in the tape that he put the baby in a suitcase immediately after her grandmothers murder and then took her to the basement sauna room where he took her from the suitcase and left her there. An intense weeklong search ended on october 25th, 2012 when 10monthold saanvi was found dead in that sauna room. A place police searched earlier in the week and only went back to after this confession. The double murders happened in a botched kidnapping attempt and point to yandamuris gambling addiction as to why he needed the money. Yandamuri claims this confession was coerced but the jury saw other video of yandamuri leaving the valley forge casino with police hours before this tape was made. Yandamuri is acting as his own defense but standby counsel offered this reaction to the tape. Well, its not a pretty picture. Its going to be something hell have to explain to the satisfaction of the jury. Reporter i did ask Steven Heckman if he was acting as a defense attorney in this case, what strategy would he use . Would he go with the same strategy yandamuri is using . He said probably not but right now hes acting as his own counsel and hes the boss. Testimony is still ongoing. She and her husband bought more than three acres of land and bought their dream home. Three levels before they closed they got a call. We had high levels of tce in the water. So by the time that activity gets here, the suns going to be down and a lot of this should be weakening. But theres even more showers out in western pennsylvania. So our future cast showing the showers move into the area, its going to take several hours, probably after 8 00 or so, and then some showers even toward the midnight hour. And especially to the north and west. Thats where the best chance is. Then for tomorrow, theres a slight chance wed be up to the north. But these are not the best rain chances of the next seven days. They do not need a lot of rain. For the crops that do, the farmers have a system in place when the weather doesnt cooperate. Mother nature can be very giving this time of year but lately shes been stingy on rainfall. I noticed it with the plants, the house plants, the outside plants. Im watering every day. The different crops all need different ams of water. Reporter steve linville, a Third Generation farmer in Delaware County is pleased with their pumpkins this season. They will hold up better if its a little dry. If theres too much moisture they get fungal problems, they start to rot from the inside out. A little bit drier helps the pumpkin crops. Hold that. Hold the pumpkin. Reporter while the fall favorite is holding up well without the rain, strawberries at linville which they can still grow need some help. We pump water out of an irrigation upon. It comes up through the main tube. Then theres drip irrigation. Reporter the drip irrigation system which under this plattic covering keeps the moisture from evaporating. He suspects other farmers are doing the same thing. Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, the cold crops are real big at this time of year. And if youre growing those on la large acreage, youll need water at this time of year. Reporter though the farmers have to do a little bit more work to irrigate the crops like the strawberries you saw, it shouldnt affect the price of local items like that at the store. Even though we are barely into the fall season, the farmers here say theyre already thinking about the winter. Basically all the storms are off to our west and most of them will be staying off to our west. Heres what it looks like locally. We dont have thunderstorms around right now. We dont have showers yet either. If we look in parts of central pennsylvania, heres a line of thunderstorms developing. Theres really not too much motion to these. Theyre all developing right in the middle of the state and theyre not moving too much. As we go through the rest of this evening, though, we do have a chance for a few showers but unfortunately its nothing that will be helping our rainfall deficit across the area. So most of the area is dry. We have rain to our west that looks as though its moving in.
