Theyre still investigating but police say it looks like son may have had a gun and tried to shoot his mother first when he got inside the house. Right now, police are talking to neighbors as well as to the 78yearold woman that detectives are interviewing her, and possibly witnesses in the case trying to sort out exactly what happened and when. The woman was at the promenade, an outside shopping venue in Burlington County when her attacker dragged the 75yearold woman to the ground. Nbc 10s lu ann cahn spoke to the victims friend who was with her wednesday night when it happened. And she joins us now live. Lu ann . Reporter you know what, she says she cannot believe that there were hundreds of shoppers out here that night. A free concert had just ended. And in the middle of all of that, her friend was attacked, robbed, and badly injured. He dislocated her shoulder, broke her hip and a finger. And that was it. It was just a terrible thing. Reporter Dolly Harrison says wednesday she and her 75yearold friend were enjoying a night much like this one at the upscale promenade. They just finished dinner and walked outside around 8 30 when it happened. This young man came just running by like a mad man, and grabbed her handbag from her and drug her down. Reporter the purse she carried was similar to this, but the thief couldnt get it off her arm. Which is why she fell and was dragged. I guess he figured, and he did, he could knock us down and we wouldnt give him much of a fight. Wow. I didnt think anything like that would happen here. Been in this location for two years and never really had anything like it before. Reporter promenade security says they believe four young men in their 20s work together, a couple distracted one Security Guard with conversation while the other two targeted the women. One ran off with the purse into a nearby apartment complex. Makes me really worried. Reporter promenade security says the crime seemed so random and brazen theyre not sure how they could prevent it. One car is patrolling tonight. They have not increased security. Meanwhile, dolly just wants the men caught and punished for what theyve done to her friend. Probably never be like she was. Tonight, Surveillance Video shows the clerk swinging an object at the robbers before one pulled out a gun and fired two shots. The clerk was hit in the upper body but expected to be okay. A brick Police Officer is free on bond after he was indicted on stalking charges. Justin delaney is accused of using social media and prepaid cell phone to anonymously harass and humiliate an exgirlfriend for six months when she asked him to help find out who was behind the calls and texts. Investigators say delany authorized a database without authorization and claimed the phone was untraceable. Delaney has already been suspended without pay. Tonight a warning from New Castle County police about a drug epidemic that is sweeping the nation. Ambulance. Yes, my son overdosed. Please hurry up. I cant revive him. Hes a heroin addict. I cant get him up. That is the fathers 911 call that came into New Castle County police. It was part of a presentation to parents tonight educating them about the problem of heroin abuse at schools. The presentation also talked about glee star who died last year from using heroin and alcohol. In new jersey, police busted a suspected drug ring operating out of foreclosed homes. Windslowe Township Police arrested jeremy smith yesterday inside a vacant home and found this stash of heroin, cocaine, and marijuana inside. Cops say they arrested smiths brother, kevin, just over a month ago for the same thing. Investigators say the two men also rented out Vacant Properties that werent theirs to tenants on a craigslist and collected monthly rent. Nearly two dozen people are recovering tonight after a pepsi truck rear ended a septa bus in montgomery county. We brought you this as breaking news throughout the afternoon. The route 55 bus was hit at old york road and Meeting House road in cheltenham around 3 30 this afternoon. 19 people on the bus and 2 on the truck went to the hospital. Everyone is expected to recover. Septa is now investigating the crash. A warning for anyone driving or Walking Around center city tomorrow. Several streets will be closed. For 24 hours, walnut street will be closed from 17th to 19th street. 18th street will be closed from locust street to sansom and closed from 17 to 19th. These will allow crews to move heavy construction equipment. The Streets Department is urging people to plan ahead and use alternate routes. Patco is shifting work from the south tracks to the north tracks on the ben franklin bridge. Trains will still run both directions on one side of the tracks but patco says the new phase allows for better service. So expect a shorter wait and fewer gaps between trains. The city agrees to contribute more to the unions health plan while workers afrgree to pay mo into their pensions.
