We have good news this early in the morning on the vine street expressway, both lanes open, westbound, eastbound, no problem, not dealing with the ongoing construction this morning. Three minutes from 95 to the schuylkill expressway and two headed eastbound from the schuylkill towards 95 as well. Good news there. As we take a look at the rest of the drive times, 95 southbound, no problems with woodhaven road up towards the vine, 12minute trip. Now to breaking news in philadelphia, a quadruple shooting in nicetown leaves two dead and two others wounded. Nbc 10s matt delucia is live at the scene as police sort out what happened here. Tell us what you know. Reporter rosemary police briefed us a few minutes ago. A man tried to rob a group of people out here on the 1900 block of juniata street. He had a gun, someone in the group also had a gun. There was an exchange of gunfire. A lot of shots fired out here behind me. There were shell casings out here. We have video from the scene earlier this morning. Someone in that group who was being robbed started shooting at this robbery suspect. That suspect was shot several times as he tried to run. He ended up about a block away where he collapsed and died from his injuries. One other person was shot in the lower torso. That person also died. A woman was shot. She is stable and a man was shot twice in the back. He is four people total shot two dead as a result of this. At this point its unknown if this was ran democrat or targeted, as we come back live several vehicles are out here, hit by gunfire as well. A bullet also went through a window of a home but no one in that home was injured. Were told there is also a punctured gas tank. This happened around 2 00 this morning. This is still early on in the investigation. Were told homicide investigators will be out here later this morning. Well stay out here, trying to gather more information. The Liberty Block Party kicks off at 1 00 this afternoon between market and chestnut streets with lots of food and fun for the whole family. Later on the philly pops return to celebrate americas birthday with pops on independence a free concert at independence hall. Tomorrow is the highly anticipated party on the parkway. Plenty of people are already down the shore for the fourth of July Celebration but folks who got an early start yesterday in North Wildwood had to take cover because it rained much of the day. Some went to the movies or did a little bit of shopping. It was anything but a beach day. Several shore towns have fireworks, concerts and parades planned this weekend. Businesses are stocked up and ready to go. It is one of the three biggest weekends of the year. What ocean city does which is pretty remarkable they do the fireworks display. That really is a show to enjoy. Many of the fireworks shows kick off tonight, including wildwoods fireworks at 10 00. The delaware beaches will also be a popular destination this weekend. Almost 70,000 drivers will pass through the tolls on state route 1. Thats the main road to the beaches that number of drivers by the way is up from last year possibly because of cheaper gas. Philadelphia police are questioning three people in connection to the murder of an elderly woman in her East Mount Airy home. 85yearold Regina Brunner was found dead on monday. Her son discovered her. Police say she was beaten and her throat slashed in an apparent robbery. Yesterday, homicide detectives went to this row home in West Oak Lane with a search warrant. Investigators tell nbc 10 that they found crucial evidence in the case including a laptop that possibly belonged to the elderly woman. Are you surprised . If she was involved im definitely surprised. Nbc 10 has also learned a woman is one of the three people being questioned by detectives. Police continue to collect evidence including the victims car which was discovered tuesday. It had been stolen the day she was killed. Investigators have also tracked her stolen debit card to a local atm. This morning, the fbi is not saying why its agents were at city hall in allentown yesterday. The fbi is confirming they were there. Its not clear how long the agents were in the building. According to one newspaper report, the fbi executed a warrant for city records in connection with a grand jury investigation. The Montgomery TownshipPolice Department is grieving the sudden loss of the Departments Service dog. Duke died of a medical condition. Canine duke was purchased back in 2011 through donations made by the Montgomery CountyDistrict Attorney and the District Attorneys office. Hes credited with being a loyal partner, friend and Family Member to the department. As expected pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf vetoed a republicanbacked bill that would have privatized liquor sales in the state. The bill would have let those who currently about 14,000 licenses to sell beer in the state to pay more for the right to also sell wine, liquor or both. Eventually, the 600 stateowned Liquor Stores would have closed once the private sector sales were up and running. Wolf said yesterday selling off the liquor system was not a Good Business decision. He says he does support selling wine and beer in more locations including supermarkets. Two das after he ejected the main budget bill Governor Wolf vetoed a School Budget bill. That includes 24,000 gallons of a toxic and flammable chemical used in the manufacturing of plastic. 21 cars remain on the site. 5,000 people were forced from their homes overnight on thursday. The Freight Train was traveling from ohio to southern georgia when a tanker went off the track and burst into flames. 52 people went to the hospital 25 were admitted including First Responders after they inhaled the toxic fumes. It smelled bad. I grabbed what i could and got out. As fast as i could. My thought was, is the air poisonous . I was worried that breathing would be an issue. Derailment in tennessee is causing concern from lawmakers here in our area. Every week 60 to 70 Freight Trains hauling crude oil, roll through pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. State lawmakers are asking for more oversight following four oil train derailments in pennsylvania last year. But they say theres little they can do. The Rail Industry is regulated almost entirely by the federal government. Some are wondering if its more than a quincecoincidence. Five years right now are under investigation. Meantime a Scholarship Fund has been created in the name of former South Carolina senator reverend clementa pinckney. He was one of the nine members of the Charleston Church killed by alleged shooter dylann roof. A 300 pound bear gave residents in one pennsylvania neighborhood quite the surprise yesterday morning. The bear was spotted yesterday in a nantyicoke community. They even had to cut away branches to get the bear down. They eventually needed to tranquilize the bear to get him to safety. They say it only lasts about 20 minutes. There was no safe way to get him out of the town. If we got him down he may have had to cross some highways. We didnt want anybody getting hurt.
