There are some cooler readings. Here are the clouds. The wet weather this morning is to the west. Well to the west, actually. For most of the morning, we will be dry. But theres a chance well see some of these showers develop at times. A little drizzly this morning. 40s to start with. 50s this afternoon for philadelphia. Pennsylvania suburbs, cloudy start, chance of a late morning shower or more likely just sprinkles. 50 degrees at that hour. Lehigh valley, midday showers are a possibility. For delaware and south jersey and the jersey shore, 40s to start with. Only in the 50s this afternoon. One lane getting by northbound around the blue route. That off ramp, theres a sign with flashing lights. Thats being blocked as well. So no access from 95 northbound to the blue route. Were seeing part of the roadblocked as well on the opposite side. More construction out there. This one over in new jersey. The right and center lanes closed on the Atlantic City expressway if youre headed eastbound between exit 33 and winslow and exit 28 in hammondton. Watch for construction, more in new jersey. The onramp closed from 295 southbound from the black horse pike. Jessica, thanks. This morning were following a developing story. Right now police are tracking an escaped inmate whos doing time for aggravated assault. Arthur buckell busted out of bayside state prison tuesday. Officers found a car in barnegat township. The search for him is having an impact on the community there. Reporter it sure is, tracy. Yesterday soninlaw of the schools were put on lockdown. Today school is in session here in town. Police say theyre going to have an officer on patrol at every Single School throughout the school day as they try to track buckell down. Theyre telling people to secure their homes, lock their doors, and to secure their vehicles as well. Heres a picture of arthur buckell. Court documents show he would have been eligible for parole in just 18 days if hed not escapes. Surveillance images show him walking into a cvs store in barnegat yesterday. A day earlier, Corrections Officers noticed he was missing when guards did an inmate count at 6 00 a. M. Buckell was locked up on charges of aggravated assault. New from overnight, a woman is recovering from burns this morning following a house fire in the ogontz neighborhood of philadelphia. Medics took an injured woman to einstein hospital. The fire marshal is looking for the cause. Happening today, the woman accused of kidnapping a baby from the king of prussia mall is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing. Police say sharia moore abducted the 7yearold from the food court in march. S now to an nbc 10 exclusive. This morning, were hearing from one of the two School Security officers beaten by three men earlier this week. Cell phone video shows the men attacking the two officers outside Northeast High School monday afternoon. One officer suffered a broken jaw. The second officer talked to nbc 10. He says he and his partner were trying to break up a fight when one of the men tackled him from behind. As im on the ground, another guy who i didnt even see, comes over, starts punching me. The first suspect, he punches my coworker again, breaking his jaw. Its just a matter of time. Youre going to get caught. So you might as well turn yourself in now. Police released these images of the three men wanted for attacking the school officers. If you recognize any of the men, Philadelphia Police want to hear from you. Comedian bill cosby is looking to pennsylvanias highest court to delay hearings in a criminal case against him. On tuesday, cosbys attorneys asked the state Supreme Court to review an Appeals Court decision that allowed the criminal case in Montgomery County to move forward. That move on tuesday was made public yesterday. Cosbys charged with the Sexual Assault of a former University Employee back in 2004. Its 4 06. The debate over philadelphias proposed soda tax brought out protesters to city hall. Soda trucks surrounded city hall before a public hearing on the tax that would add 3 cents per ounce to the price of sugary drinks. Mayor jim kenny says the money from the tax would go toward universal prek, parks improvement, and public schools. Opponents believe it could put them out of a job. Im a sole provider for my home. I work 60 to 80 hours a week. This soda tax goes through, myself along with others will lose their jobs. We can reduce poverty for the long term and really end poverty. Another hearing is planned. City council will vote on the measure next month. Its another cloudy morning but not too rainy. Satellite and radar shows scattered clouds in the area. You can see tomorrow morning, it is going to be developing and then moving into our area. A potential for heavy rain during the day tomorrow. Thats the futurecast first thing in the morning. The vine around 24th street is doing okay. Cars are moving along nicely either direction. Route 202 looks great also. You can see we are still in the green here. A 12minute trip headed northbound from 30 to the schuylkill expressway. That onramp is closed on 295 headed southbound from the black horse pike. That ramp, youll have no access to the black horse pike. We were going to show you 295 around the black horse pike, but the camera is not functioning properly. Were hearing from Philadelphia Police officer jesse hartnett, whos recovering after someone shot him during an ambush. Officer hartnett talked with us after the National PoliceDefense Foundation named him its man of the year. The Police Defense foundation honored him last night. In january, someone shot hartnett while he was sitting in his patrol car. He managed to fire back and chase down the gunman. Officers captured the alleged shooter a few blocks away. Hartnett tells Us Police Officers are often criticized and do not get the credit they deserve. You have seconds to decide whether or not to shoot, and its truly muscle memory at that point. Your training and experiences do kick in and play into that factor, but instead of people attacking right away, look at all the facts. Hartnett has had eight surgeries, and he just started physical therapy. The day before his death, the Musicians Team reached out to an addiction doctor for help. Thats according to an attorney for dr. Howard cornfeld, who runs a recovery clinic in california. He sent his son andrew to consult with prince, but he didnt get there in time. He and two other people discovered prince unresponsive in the elevator. One of the Staff Members started screaming. Andrew was the person to make the 911 call describing the medical emergency at paisley park. When investigators arrived, Andrew Kornfeld handed over a drug normally used to deal with opiate addiction that he had brought with him from california. There are now reports that the dea and the u. S. Attorneys office in minneapolis are joining the investigation into princes death. A School Superintendent in georgia apologized to a family after a principal found a 5yearold special needs student hanging from a blackboard by his belt loops. The principal heard screaming coming from a classroom last thursday, walked in to discover the boy dangling from the top of the chalkboard. The child was kicking and screaming. The superintendent suspended the teacher and two assistants and recommended they be fired. I hope that theyre not able to teach again. Let this be a lesson. Were supposed to love our children and treat them kind. Police are now investigating. Well, you now have to be 21 years old to buy get cigarettes or other Tobacco Products in california. The governor signed a bill raising the age to 21. Hawaii and some other cities have increased the smoking age to 21. Here in our area, a bill is moving through the new jersey state house to raise the age from 19 to 21. Pennsylvania lawmakers are considering a measure to raise the age from 28 to 21. And the smoking age is 18 in delaware. New this morning, changing locations to promote a different way of learning. These toddlers attend forest edge nursery school. Its part of Friends School haverford. School administrators made the eyeopening decision this past year to teach toddlers outside for most of the day, rain or shine, hot or cold. The outside is the classroom. Its just such a sense of natural wonderment. So we can count how many leaves, we can count how many acorns. Reporter as you may have guessed, teachers insist there is a strict curriculum they follow just like youd find in any ordinary classroom. Its just geared toward outside. No problems through the coverage hocken curve. Tracy . A Trauma Center at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center is now named for a fallen colleague at the hospital. Hospital officials unveiled the john pryor md trauma unit last night. Pryor was a surgeon. He died during his second tour in iraq in 2008. His colleagues tell us that pryor joined the Army Reserves after learning trauma surgeons were desperately needed on the battlefield.
