As that snow comes down, we could see freezing which could lead to slipping and sliding this morning, something to be concerned about. Its a large system way to the south. Thats where warmer air is and some of it may reach into delaware and south jersey. But most of this storm is staying farther to the south. At this hour, we have light snow, very light snow in the pennsylvania suburbs. Its coming down steadier in delaware and south jersey. One band moves through central kent county that stretches across delaware bay into southern cumber learn county. Maurice river, youre starting to see that. And upper cape may county, seeing some of that light snow. Not much accumulation expected but be on the lookout for slippery spots this morning. The temperatures dropped into the 20s north and west. This is where the precipitation is even lighter. 30 degrees in wilmington and millville. Thats cold enough we could see slippery conditions there. Same story for atlantic city, cape may is a degree above freezing. A lot of that snow, very light snow, is ming as it comes down. Not a snowy view, center city, 8th and market this morning. Well see light snow at 6 00 this morning. The showers start tapering off by 9 00 and then theyre out of here at noontime. Still see clouds. Look at the temperatures, 37 degrees. You take a look at the row of cars when you come out andtry to take off for work this morning youll find that snow on your car but it is so light that it blows right off. Overnight, homicide detectives interviewed workers from that business and customers who were there when the killing happened. We first brought you this story last night as breaking news. Police say a woman who worked at the vietnamese restaurant you see there on washington avenue was killed. According to detectives, someone slashed her throat during a violent struggle and they believe it happened in the kitchen while customers and other workers were in the restaurant upstairs. Right now, police are looking for a suspect and a murder weapon. We are following these overnight developments and well have a live report for you coming up in just about 25 minutes. Happening today in atlantic city, the community will come together to mark the anniversary of a Police Officer who was killed directing traffic. Officer Thomas Mcmeekin died 11 years ago today. Family,en froms and colleagues will gather at st. Nicholas colintine church to pay tribute to him. He was hit by a bus while directing traffic at an accident scene. Were learning more about the five coworkers who died in a fiery crash near the border of berks and lehigh countys. The crash happened Late Wednesday on route 222 at the route 100 splitc at Upper Macungie township. They all worked at qpsi. Most of them were leaders. Their subaru veered into oncoming traffic, collided with a tractortrailer head on and went up in flames. The driver of the tractortrailer did survive. The five victims were pronounced dead at the scene. A lot of people that work here actually witnessed the accident itself because everybody was on their way home. How have you been able to deal with it . Just lean on each other. The victims coworkers say they did not normally car pool together. They leave behind spouses and children. It will be here to begin with but this light snow will be out of here this afternoon. The steadiest snow this morning is in delaware and south jersey. Youll see that on the first alert radar. Slippery roads, the temperatures have just gone below freezing for much of the area. Much of it is melting as it hits the ground. Be on the lookout, there are colder pockets. You can run into slippier conditions. Warmer temperatures offer the weekend. The big warmup we save for next week. 29 degrees in allentown, just below freezing. Cloudy skies and precipitation has tapered off. It was never heavy. Northeast philadelphia, 31 grows. Minimal accumulation, you saw drews report from center city where it was getting the cars. You might see sidewalks and grassy surfaces covered, otherwise not much coming from this large storm system. Covering up most of the east coast but thec very light snows melting as it hits the ground, north and west in those colder areas. Philadelphia barely coming down right now. Heres where the steadier, light snow is falling in new castle county, kent county and delaware. Cumberland county and into portions of cape may county. Cape may is above freezing. Even though the snow flakes are falling lightly, it is melting as it comes down. Look how quickly it moves out of here. And then that snow moves out completely in the afternoon. Well see some sunshine and clearing skies for today. So rally not bad north and west. Light snow tapering off already. Low 40s for fleetwood and morgantown. Pennsburg 39. Upper 30s for abington and norristown. Light snow more likely to accumulate, about an inch, in portions of delaware and south jersey. We have a southbound brave time from the 42 freeway to the delaware Memorial Bridge and that is a 22minute trip. Average speeds way up there into the 60s. We are tracking light snow in the area, its dampened the roads. Temperatures are borderline. Look out for slippier spots. Most of it is melting as it comes down. Youll see accumulation on cars that have been sitting out overnight on sidewalks and on the grass as well. It tends to run colder. 31 degrees now at philadelphia international. Its not as cold as it was yesterday morning. That was expected. Heres a view. Doesnt look very snowy. Its not windy either. It wont be stormy. This storm is missing us to the south. We get a glancing blow from it. The farther away from the coast you are, the less precipitation youll see. This is where its colder, allentown, pottstown, reading, light snowfall in parts of south jersey. One of the easy ways to see how heavy the snow is coming down is to look at the visibilities. They look just fine for coatesville, pottstown, threemile visibility. Has to get below one mile to see a steadier snow. Very light snow in mount holly, under twomile visibility at wildwood and dover is at 2 1 2 mile visibility. No one is really reporting any looks impressive on the radar, this is a snow across central delaware and southern delaware, its a little bit heavier. Temperatures above freezing this morning in cape may. The farther north and west you do, the lighter the snow yet. More of a nuisance more than anything. This is all going to be heading out this afternoon. Well end the day with breaks of sunshine. Might see a little bit this morning. Light snow at 6 00. By 9 00, starting to taper off. By lunch time, clouds around with winds out of the northeast at 14 miles an hour. We get that sunshine breaking through in the afternoon. 40s, what comes down this morning, melts this afternoon. Theres a slight chance of an early shower on send. Sunday afternoon well see the sunshine once again. No big warmup over the weekend. But thats not the case next week. We did look through 295 a few moments ago and we had snow falling on the roadways, starting to stick on the shoulders. It pretty much looks the same on the vine street expressway. This is around 24th street. We do have snow starting to accumulate over into the shoulders. But the actual roadways, where everybody is driving on is looking like a slippery and wet drive. Again, this is westbound right in here, headed to the schuylkill expressway or eastbound heading to 95. No problems getting in either direction there. Once you get there, youll be okay. The streetlights, you can see the snow falling there. Could be a problem later on in the morning. Watch out for some construction, though, also in philadelphia on 34th street.
