Around girard avenue we mad a backup on the southbound side around girard, cleared out of the way so you can see traffic moving nicely and were doing okay. Aussis still 13 minutes heading into the Center City Area from the schuylkill. No problem there. The blue route is okay, watch out for this accident in Montgomery County. Lansdale, york avenue and south cannon avenue. Chris. You said no problems on the schuylkill right now but look at this video from a few hours ago. There was a major problem, a fiery crash on 76 overnight. This was the scene near girard avenue after a tractortrailer and a car collided. Investigators say the car was pinned beneath the trailer. The car caught fire, then the fire spread to the trailer. Both vehicles burned. The good news is no one was injured. Westbound lanes were closed as crews cleared the scene. Those lanes are back open for the morning commute. Preparing for the pope means a historic no parking zone in philadelphia. With five days until pope francis comes, tow trucks are moving cars from the ben franklin parkway. We caught this one here. Parking restrictions went into effect at 6 00 p. M. Last night in an area from the art museum past city hall and in five hours, 9 00 a. M. , that no parking zone will expand. You see the area in yellow, people in that area, fairmount, southwest center city, will have to move cars by 9 00 a. M. You do have the option of buying a 20 placard that will let you leave your car on the street until thursday, then move it to a parking garage. The pope is coming to philadelphia to cap off the world meeting of families, a fiveday convention that starts tomorrow at the Pennsylvania Convention center. Youll probably notice the larger crowds today. Matt delucia joins us live in center city. You are talking to people along the parkway there. So how are they dealing with this . Reporter the biggest thing you need to know this morning if you live in the Center City Area and you park your car around here, you have to move it because the tow away zones, they are taking effect. These no parking signs up for the better part of a week. 22nd street is starting to clear out. Take a look. Last night we saw tow trucks out here relocating cars, getting them out of the area. There are several tow away zones, the first closest to the art museum, that went into effect last night at 6 00. The next goes into effect this morning at 9 00 a. M. And whats happening is the tow away zones fan out from the parkway and keep going until wednesday. Owners have to move their cars out of the area and park somewhere else or park in a city garage for 20. Here is the thing though. We come out live you need have one of these yellow placards on the dashboard of your car, with this you can stay until thursday. Then you have to move your car. This morning pope francis is in cuba following an historic day that included mass and a meeting with fidel castro. Rosemary connors joins us live this morning with a closer look at the pontiffs time in cuba. Thats right. Pope francis will give the homily at a mass. Yesterday he held his First Official state meeting with president raul castro. The buzz appears to be about his brief sitdown with former cuban leader fidel castro. Heres what we can tell you. The first latin american pope and the leerd of the cuban revolution exchanged gifts, talked for 40 minutes about religion and world affairs, but it was the outdoor mass that may have had the most lasting effect on the cuban faithful. Police believe a motorcycle gang is behind a shooting that killed a man and injured three others at a bar in northeast philadelphia yesterday. Gun fire erupted at the bar. They spotted more than a dozen motorcycles fleeing. Our camera captured a number of those on the streets. Police say some of the victims were brought to the hospital wearing jackets with the logo of a Motorcycle Club wheels of soul. Bikes parked down there. There is one on its side like they tried to get away and sped out. A man died, we dont know his name yet. Police say at least two of the victims are in Critical Condition including a man they call a suspect. Philadelphia police are hoping surveillance photos will help find a missing 12yearold girl who recently had a brain tumor removed. Cameras captured these images of Stanaya Blackwell at 30th street station around 1 00 yesterday. She boarded a septa train, then boarded another train headed back to philadelphia a short time later. She was reported missing after she wandered away from her church in north philadelphia. She suffers from seizures and memory loss because of her surgery. If you think you have seen her, call police. Well, it wasnt the home opener eagles fans dreamed of. The birds lost an ugly one to the hated Dallas Cowboys and two key injuries could give chip kellys team a further uphill battle. For many of the visitors it does start here at the Philadelphia International airport. Im told employees here are working with world meeting of families volunteers to help people get where they are going. Once they get in Center City Philadelphia they will see increased staff at restaurants, businesses, especially near the Convention Center or in walking distance of that. We spoke with one restaurant manager who says they have more employees working this week and the upcoming weekend and also more deliveries coming in, a Hotel Concierge says she has been working for months to secure reservations so they will have a spot to eat this week and for the weekend. We had really comfortable weather move in later yesterday, and that is setting us up for cooler weather during the week. Especially the next couple of days. We somewhere a chance of some showers today, even into tomorrow. But nothing really big. Well have the forecast that goes into that all important weekend. Right now we have high clouds out there. Not capable of producing rain, not yet. 62 degrees, the wind is northeast at 12. Its 10 degrees cooler than it was at this time yesterday. So, you may need some kind of sweater or light jacket. Especially in allentown at 52, mount pocono 47. 56 in mount holly. Other places into the 60s. But with the clouds and the northeast wind thats going to keep the temperature down during the day today. You can see those clouds increasing from the southwest, even some rain, a little more impressive area of rain in parts of southwestern virginia that were going to be watching. The future weather computer is not really handling the clouds yet. And so whatever they are showing is probably underplayed. So here we are during the morning. Clouds and even with that drier start, the futurecast is showing some showers, especially south jersey during the afternoon, berks county, perhaps lehigh valley. Into tomorrow, some more showers coming up from what were seeing in virginia now. But you can see all the clouds and that flow coming out of the northeast. Thats going to keep us on the cool side the next couple of days. So, mostly cloudy skies, definitely cooler. We have a chance of showers, especially to the south. High temperatures barely get above 70 degrees. Then for tomorrow, we have a chance of showers, fall starts on wednesday, and some warmer temperatures, middle of the week. Chris, were safe to say that its nothing short of a mess right now, especially for local residents. We have several no parking zones, some in effect last night from the Ben Frank Lin parkway to logan circle. Now closed and cars will be towed. We have more tow zones beginning at 9 00 a. M. North and south of those areas. That will be added. So if you do see a no parking sign, listen to it because your car will be towed. Watch for an accident in Montgomery County in lansdale, york avenue and south cannon avenue. If you are heading out on 422, right around trooper road we have no problems there. Eastbound drive time of 8 minutes from 29 up to the schuylkill expressway, headlights here are headed eastbound in that direction, no problems heading westbound. Well go over more closures and drive time whens i come back in the next ten minutes. The drive to work may take longer for some in the lehigh valley. Construction on the route 22 begins today. That starts with the fullerton avenue interchange. Crews will extend the exit lanes on all ramps, new Traffic Signals and make bridge repairs. When finished route 22 will be six lanes from mcarthur road to the lehigh river bridge. It was a great day yesterday to make a difference in the lives of local families. A Campus Book Store at Westchester University has pulled a doll from the shelves, a doll that caused an uproar. Its inflatable doll reportedly sold as a gag gift, inflate for an instant date it says. Packaging says its a perfect female specimen, nontalking and doesnt have headaches. The book store issued apology on twitter. Some students, though, were planning to protest the doll. Nbc 10 reached out to the university for a comment. Were still waiting on a response. From the delaware bureau, the Wilmington Community rallied to bring attention to the rise in violent crimevt in that city. This is the scene at the 302 guns down peace rally. It was organized to help educate young people in the city and turn them away from a life of crime. Local Business Owners were there offering job opportunities, hoping that the citys message of peace will be a lasting one. Delaware its hard to get the communities together. It feels good that things are kicking off and im not looking more for how many people, im looking for how much success. Organizers do plan on making this an annual event.
