Take hartford road around it. Heading into philadelphia right now, south philadelphia, a live look at 95 right at broad street. You can see traffic is moving by in both directions. Were not dealing with any lane restrictions in this area. So, as you can see, it is problemfree. Chris . Thankfully, this is a problem that was on 95 earlier. Its out of the way. New from overnight, the wet road may be to blame for this crash early this morning on i95 northbound in yardley, bucks county. This is a look at the crash scene from one of our nbc 10 Traffic Cameras there. It appeared to be a onecar crash. Again, all lanes are open. No problems now on 95. No word on any injuries because of that crash. Strong winds from overnight storms may have caused a fire at a garage in glenside, Montgomery County. Fire crews say the wind may have knocked over some utility wires, which sparked the fire. No one was injured and there was no damage to any of the storefronts in that glenside neighborhood there. Infectious disease experts from all across the country will be right here in philadelphia for a conference where ebola and enterovirus d68 will be on center stage. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live in center city. Jesse, there was a lastminute change of plans. This is an annual conference, but obviously, recent Health Concerns over those viruses changed the plans for this conference, right . Reporter chris, thats exactly right. The Program Chair for this conference tells me a special session on the ebola virus has been added, and its going to take place immediately following Opening Festivities inside the Convention Center later this morning. Lets take a look at our video. Theres also going to be a session on the spread of the enterovirus d68. This comes on the heels of an announcement by the new Jersey State Department of health. Officials there say there are now five new cases of evd68 in that state, including one right across the river in camden. In dallas, Health Workers are monitoring ten people who had contact with Thomas Duncan and more than 30 people who may have had contact with him to see if they have symptoms of ebola. Duncan was the first person to be diagnosed with that virus in the united states. He remains in critical condition. Yesterday, the reverend Jesse Jackson led a prayer vigil at the dallas hospital where duncan is in isolation. And you can count on nbc 10 and nbc10. A man is facing charges after a bloody stabbing inside a busy Grocery Store in northeast philadelphia. It happened last night at pathmark on cottman avenue. Police say two men got into an argument in the dairy aisle. One pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed the other in the face. Police say blood was everywhere, but that didnt stop some shoppers from going about their business. It was somewhat surprising that some of the shoppers wanted to finish their shopping. Police arrested the suspect not far from the store, which closed for the night as the Health Department made sure the food was safe. The victim is in critical condition. Were expecting an update later today from police on the manhunt for eric frein, now in its 26th day. He, of course, is the man wanted for the murder of a Pennsylvania State trooper. Earlier this week, police searched an abandoned resort in stroud township and found a cabin that had been recently lived in. Its rooms had plastic covering the windows, ceilings covered with air fresheners and walls plastered with newspaper articles. Police are not saying exactly what those articles were about. Searchers also found a letter written by frein detailing the shooting of two state troopers on september 12th and his escape. 4 05 now. Happening later today, a preliminary hearing for a man charged with butchering a prostitute when he learned that prostitute was a man. Charles sergeant is accused in the stabbing death of mark williams. Authorities say sergeant dismembered williamss body. Police say the killing happened at this home on north 32nd street in july of last year. They say the victims body parts were found in a vacant lot on sezley street. Police say sergeant committed the murder after discovering williams was a crossdressing prostitute. Lawyers in the murder of philadelphia teacher bo zabel will hold a hearing today. His accused killer, marcellus jones, is already serving a life sentence for killing his accomplice in 2008. Zabel was shot to death in south philadelphia by robbers who wanted his ipod. Zabel had just moved here from minnesota to teach math at public schools. This morning, police in Delaware County are looking for a man they call a serial burglar. Police in upper darby tell us there have been five burglaries in the overnight hours since september 20th. The most recent happening yesterday morning on clover lane. A woman fought off that burglar inside her bedroom in front of her 9yearold daughter. She spoke with us on the condition we not show her face because shes terrified. I am not safe. My kids are not safe. This man literally walked up in my house. He violated me and my family. A lot of people on edge in that neighborhood. Police said the burglar is entering homes through firstfloor windows and hes going after handbags, wallets and electronics. And several bucks county neighborhoods are also dealing with a possible serial burglar. Police are looking into whether five breakins in plumstead township and buckingham are connected to a rash of attempted burglaries in hatfield township. The thieves in these cases are using similar techniques, cutting through screen doors or windows. The most recent burglary happened sunday. People living near a closed navy base in Montgomery County are worried about whats in their drinking water, and for good reason. Members of the navy and the Environmental Protection agency met with neighbors last night in horsham. They addressed concerns about high levels of pfcs found in well water within a mile of the former Willow Grove Naval air station. Now, the navy has tested 18 of 200 wells so far and found that 2 of them needed to be shut down. We discovered that there is a contaminants for fluorinated compounds potentially in the ground water here. First and foremost, i want folks to know that if theyre on public water here in horsham township, they are safe. Those pfcs have been linked to reproductive problems in animal studies. The navy says it will take two more months to finish testing all of the wells. Meanwhile, the Horsham Water and Sewer Authority took the affected wells offline and is providing water to homes through alternate lines. A Widener University student is charged with threatening a columbinestyle shooting against students on campus who bullied him. Police say 20yearold louis veda of lodi, new jersey, made this post on the social networking site yickyack. Students alerted authorities who posted an alert yesterday afternoon. There was no weapons on this individual. There was no weapons found in his dorm room. We dont believe he had access to weapons. I believe at no time was the student body in danger, but the university did what the university should do, and thats take the threats very seriously. Now, the campus was never put on lockdown. Administrators tell us thats because this was not an active shooter situation. Allentown is launching a new program to help homeowners fix their sidewalks. Many sidewalks in allentown are cracked or just have gaping holes in them, thanks to the rough winter weather. A City Ordinance requires some of those to be repaired, which can cost thousands of dollars. Allentown mayor ed pulaski said the city will offer selfforgiving loans, which you dont have to pay back, as long as you keep living in your home. The problem comes into play is when you have an economy like we had over the course of the last couple years and we have, especially you know, Senior Citizens or folks in lowerincome neighborhoods do have the capacity, if they own their house, to be able to foot that financial burden. Now, the city says this will help homeowners make an investment in their property without having to move out of the city. New life is coming to this Old Shopping Center in burlington county. Evesham township announced plans for a redevelopment at the tritown plaza at route 70. This will include 500 new apartments along with new stores, plus a Little Something different. Look for walking trails, exercise trails. Make everything very walkable here, almost creating a little bit of a downtown actually right here on site. Now, the redevelopment is expected to create around 300 construction jobs, and that doesnt include the permanent jobs that will come once the project is complete. 4 15 now and on to decision 2014, the race for pennsylvania governor. The stage is almost set for another showdown between the two candidates, republican governor tom corbett will square off against democratic challenger tom wolf for another debate, the third tonight in wilkinsburg. Jackson argues that Smyrna Police violated his First Amendment rights. His attorneys say he was cited under a violation involving turn signals, which doesnt apply to the case. He wants to be paid for time he misses from work and wants to make sure smyrna officers are not misusing their authority. What they did was they arrested him for conduct that is not illegal. Well, just five weeks into the football season, and its already over for one new jersey High School Football team. School officials have canceled the rest of the season for Sayreville High School because of allegations of hazing, harassment and bullying of players. The superintendent said the inappropriate behavior may have been happening before the season and is being investigated. There were incidences of harassment, intimidation and bullying as constituted by the definition within the antibullying statute that took place on a pervasive level, on a wi widescale level, and at a level at which the players knew, tolerated, and in general, accepted. Now, this is big news. Sayreville is an elite Football Program in new jersey. A lot of players families are upset by this. The Middlesex County prosecutor is also investigating the allegations. A Berks County School district is considering selling the naming rights to its football stadium. Governor mifflin School District Board Members are considering selling naming rights to governor mifflin stadium. Price tag 175,000. There is a company considering buying it, but a district official tells us that no official offer has been made. Bancroft says its moving out of camden county. Bancroft is the school for students with disabilities in haddonfield. It announced plans yesterday to sell its campus and move to mt. Laurel. Now, the town of haddonfield has been debating for years how the campus should be used if bancroft moved. Two years ago, a plan was rej t rejected by the school board to buy the land that bancroft sits on. The dreams of deserving children were unveiled last night in Delaware County.
