Right now we can tell you that north tryon is partially blocked because of that fire. Crews are asking folks driving to use an alternate route. We know they are using a ventilation truck to get the smoke out of that building that you see. Injuriesment but it sounds like a lot of smoke and they had to activate a second alarm. Resolution will pass with unanimous vote and politicians tell me that voters have been crying to them over the uncertainty where their children will attend school. They fear forced busing. And the School District says that will not happen. And tells people no need to cry. Because Student Assignment is still incomplete. Tim peter is son moved to this area so this son could attend huntersville elementary. Our son is autistic so it was important that we got him with a school with excellent reputation. The dad believes neighborhood schools are best. And it makes a world of difference as far as building the community and friendships. Others agree. Kourtneys son starts middle school next year. He is slated for i do not want uncertainty. That is why town council will pass this resolution tonight. It states students should be guaranteed to attend a home red flags went up when the school board did not include neighborhood schools as a priority when they approved the goals for Student Assignment a few weeks ago. That is something that we are concerned about. I think people are looking for predictability and stability. In their Student Assignment. And when you do not guarantee a home school, you start creating a lot of concern. Cms School Board Chairperson is telling parents and politicians to calm their fears. And do not jump the gun. She says let the policy committee go about the business they have been tasked to do. And goes on to say neighborhood schools are already addressed in the districts guiding principles. It is better to act early and make sure that we have our bases covered rather than react later. The mayor thinks with other towns passing similar resolutions, cms will get the point. While parents like their government stepping in in the it is a great thing. Now, davidson is expected to pass a similar resolution at the meeting tomorrow night.
