We started out as regular cops and then it upgraded to kind of like swat and they they started surrounding the house, closed off the perimeter, made sure no one was coming through and after that they went and approached the house and then they asked for the guy to come out. This morning were waiting to see how the state is going to respond now after Charlotte City Council Voted to expand the citys nondiscrimination ordinance, that proposal expands protections based on Sexual Orientation and gender identity including allowing people to to the gender with which they identify. John governor pat mccrory called it a threat to public safety, vowing to have the General Assembly take action if it passed. Wbtvs Mark Davenport is looking into this, hes live at the Mecklenburg County Government Center this morning. Mark, tell us, now that the measure has passed, what happens next . Reporter john, heres the time line. This ordinance will go in effect here in the city of charlotte on april 1st. Then a new legislative session starting in may for the state of North Carolina and during that session, that is when legislators can discuss whether or not they will overturn what charlotte just passed last night with this lgbt ordinance. Now, i want to get you in the chambers to show you what it looked like. That room that hit capacity, took three hours to hear from the 140 plus people who signed up to speak and after that 74 vote to pass the ordinance, majority of the crowd clapped and cheered but may not be pat mccrory promised to take action against this ordinance. Moving forward, the new legislative session is key on whether or not this ordinance does stay intact. Legislators have three options, ill outline them. Strike down the ordinance, decide to cut out the controversial bathroom provision within this ordinance, or legislators could vote to put the question on the November Ballot for the charlotte voters to decide later this year. Regardless how things shake out on the state level, charlotte mayor Jennifer Roberts said it was important to pass the extended ordinance. Im pleased with the council and i am pleased that charlotte has joined the over 250 cities and counties that have these kind of respect for lgbt inclusion and nondiscrimination. Emergency services say one person was killed, a number of passengers injured after this passenger train slammed in a crane and then the train derailed. It happened this morning, four see are lying on the sides near the rail. Dutch news says it was the train conductor who died, all this happening 78 miles east of amsterdam. Investigators are heading to the scene this morning trying to figure out what caused this crash but initially looks like the driver of the crane had waited for one train to pass and then started to cross the tracks when it was hit by another train coming in the opposite direction.
