Take a religion we'll get back to the issues of the day. I received a picture from David mauls b. Of course executive director of Camp Hope p.t.s.d. Foundation of America for those of you who are new to the show. We've we've been supporting this organization because we support our veterans. Especially our combat veterans for years and several months ago. We asked for suits because what we found is a veteran who comes into Camp Hope who is suicidal when they come in the door it's a 6 month program it's a rigorous program it's one step back to take 2 steps forward get their mind right understand what they're going through understand what they're coping with understand why they want to kill themselves understand why they're addicted to drugs understand why they're not able to keep their relationship going why they're angry at everyone why nothing makes sense hell they've been in war so one of the things we're finding a sort of a phase 2 of this organization we raise a lot of money for them we raise awareness so that veterans who need help can get there one of the things we're finding is that at the end of the 6 months these veterans came to the program in many cases. Fresh out of serving. In combat in war he's cast went off to war they joined at 18 they went to boot camp they're shipped off to Iraq or Afghanistan they go for several tours they're 23242526 years old they come home with the wounds of war the physical and emotional scars of war. And before they know there's a pistol in their mouth and they're trying to kill themselves they can't connect with their families their their parents their their wife their kids and if we can get them to Camp Hope we can save them but 22 veterans a day we don't get to camp. So they stay they make it through the program now they're ready to start the next phase of their lives but they don't have a job that's why we're doing a job fair coming up in a few days that I have a job we want to give them a job want to give them a way to support themselves a way to begin the next phase of their life normalcy if you will because they've been at war. But we also find that that in finding a job most of them they don't have any money and they don't have clothes that fit they're bigger and stronger than they were at $18.00 when they joined the military they don't have a suit so it's aren't cheap so we asked you to help us what was our original number of on I think we were going to. A 1000 we were hoping to collect a 1000 suits and as you know we ended up collecting over 7000 in fact we're having to expand the facilities at Camp Hope so that we can have place for these suits for these gas to go up so David mauls me the executive director sent me a picture this morning he sends me e-mails every day on an updates on our various veterans and their great stories I'd like to tell you about him all day every day I'd like to take 5 hours a day and just brag on these veterans who are making tough decisions to survive another day to beat p.t.s.d. . I can't do that but I wish I could I really do and there's enough there to talk about so he sends me a picture of a heavy set black guy with a big Ramon robust beard shaved head. And he sort of roaring back in laughter and there's a beautiful woman about. 4 feet away from him and she's her head is also thrown back They're laughing they're having a great time and there's a guy in between I'm holding a Bible who's obviously a pastor officiating a wedding let me focus on this man for a moment which is not normally what you do at a wedding but I'm going to focus on this man and his attire he looks like he's a model from g.q. Magazine as I said he's at peace a big fella he's probably 6364 maybe 65 he might be 28300 pounds. I'm a tell you some he looks like a 1000000 bucks he is wearing a jacket that fits him perfectly he's wearing pants that fit him perfectly he's wearing what are obviously brand new shoes and a shirt to match and you can tell he is proud of the way he looks he feels good about himself he's getting married wow from war to marriage with the rough patch in between that moment doesn't happen if you are listeners didn't constantly consistently step up think about over 7000 suits think about what that means it's not that it was 7000 individuals but it was thousands of individuals every one of you in your own life and every one of you had something else to do that day every one of you had a kid's game to be yet you had a sales call to go on you had a house to clean a car to wash errands to run but every one of you stopped for a moment and made a sacrifice for another person who you will never meet you stopped for a moment and made a sacrifice for someone who's made a sacrifice for our country. We can agree to disagree on war policy what wars we should be in for how long what the conditions of those wars are but we have to agree that while we're at war those who serve don't get to choose whether they go or not these guys bury their friends they suffer wounds they suffer serious physical wounds and in most cases even worse emotional ones. And you have focused you have helped you have responded in ways that reduce me to cut in onions are got to tell you because of the of the things you do every day every day I get a different email every day somebody shown up with supplies somebody shown up in help in this way a veteran shown up got a call couple months ago from the executive director a guy walked through the door he said he had said goodbye to his parents told him he was taking a road trip he intended to kill himself when he got a 5th of whiskey. But his pistol beside him was driving down to the back of a building where he's going to kill himself and he heard us talking on the air that day on our show about Camp Hope that it's free to the veteran it's no government funds there's no requirement it won't cost him anything there's a veteran who has suffered through p.t.s.d. Who's going to be waiting on the other end of the phone pick of the phone and call he's on his way to kill himself and he said. Let me let me see and he said I didn't believe it I thought when I call I would be busy or nobody would be there but that's not true there was a veteran who had served 4 deployments who'd been severely wounded lost an arm who answer the phone was there for him took care of him and now that guy is going to watch his kids graduate from high school he's going to be a good husband he's he's going to get to live out his full life so if you know a veteran who needs help. Our veterans at Camp Hope are waiting and it won't cost them a damn 877717 p.t.s.d. 877-717-7873 thank you for supporting our. Patriots. Here's something I don't say often on this point I agree with Alexandria Ocasio Cortez Indeed I have long called for a lifetime ban on former members of Congress becoming lobbyists the swamp would hate it but perhaps a chance for some bipartisan cooperation Alexandria Ocasio Cortez response Ted Cruz if you're serious about a clean bill that I'm down let's make a deal if we're going to agree on a bill with no partisan snuck in clauses no poison pills just a straight clean ban on members of Congress becoming a paid lobbyist then I'll co-leader the bill with you. And he writes in response you're on. It'll never pass but I'm going to tell you Ted Cruz is the least popular member of the United States Senate tonight and for all the right reasons. You shouldn't go to the United States Congress with the intention of later lobbying period end of story. If this upsets you that means that you were expecting to be a lobbyist after you were a congressman go back to your district the fact that members of Congress go to Washington d.c. But Extra credit if you know the name of the song Give me a moment to show off to your kids or your grandkids You can scream it out and they'll think it's real smart. From 1972 the song. Is called. No it's called popcorn the band is hot buttered. Where do you go for that from there. That kind of feels like Ok I really like popcorn at the movies that's great let's name our one song anybody's ever going to know popcorn and we'll call ourselves. What if we were to have more than one song that's been all we got. You can a painted yourself in a corner there. Should we have words with the song. No let's just do it as music. Ok. You know exactly actually. This song is called. Popcorn. And it really feels like today is the day and we have to do that try to Europe go ahead New Orleans go ahead you get certain Michael pleasure to talk to you a lot of young people to neurons I've been down here since 6. Do you know any martini now you know I did see your picture that you had posted when you're over here in the quarter for last I know it was yes thank you yeah it was nice. Which is one of my favorite hotels in the whole wide world. Well you know you're going to come and you can call Michael But that's Ok I'm over it after going away. So this afternoon show. Is off the charts you're always entertaining and informative but you have had some calls and Johnny the screener guy is amazing he has put you on some people that swimmer I could list I got to talk to for a long time until the oh my lord for a woman that was only hold with one thing to say and then came up with 6 more she had a list that will inevitably that is you realize she's a bit of a mess. Doesn't matter she had a list well you know that my fire cause you got credit for a really good call a couple weeks ago what was your call about we talk about. Those are on his commercial My neighbor was or is. Going to be that young but don't Elegies. That's what it was yeah yeah. I think I got whole tabulator I shouted out to fill them up buddies were over here from Beaumont working women. And or Jerome is kind of like Bum Phillips coach in the Oilers and Tom Landry coach in the Cowboys It's just like this Les Miles wasn't bad Ruge he wouldn't Louisiana he just used to coach I mean even Nick Saban for that matter he was a winner but I really want to win because he's a reflection of the community he's what the coach of ls you should be he's no he's gone home and that's that's where that's where you get the heart from and Google is a place for him they will they will give blood they will they will everything that's just such a competitive deal the problem playing in the s.c.c. And I'm not making excuses for the team but every It's so different than these these huge crappy Big 10 and Big 12 teams that think about playing in the f.c.c. Is every week you've got a world beater and even in f.l. Teams don't don't run off 8 wins in a row against the top teams in the league that's impossible how do you play Alabama all over in Georgia Florida Texas a and m. You've got quality even Arkansas Arkansas yes Mississippi state you got to play these teams every Mandeville week. And then you can just say well then to Bill and Kentucky we're just going to roll over them those are like a like a junior college game they're not they will they will come and bring it and beat you if you're not prepared for them. And that has to read a lot of city and Sin City is the toughest conference in the nation and the reason that we don't have more teams that go to bowl games is because when we have to play each other we cannibalize And that's that's what makes the s.c.c. So great you member a few years ago when ls you played Oregon in Dallas 1st game a season. That. Dominated the Pac 10 or Pac 12 or whatever it is which is not what 8 used to be a strong. Conference is not anymore because stand as good as they used to be when but it was one of those examples of even the team Ellis you was playing out of conference was a world beater. So you can in the season with 3 losses and have been one of the best teams in history it's the absolute last desperate quality their schedule we're going to you can do did you come to Baton Rouge from our neurons from Mississippi where just south of Jackson had you see Thad Cochran died today I did not I did not think that sticking with me mostly I have heard from you is that Ted Cruz may be working with the little. Fazio woman and I'm tickled about that if they can that they can get some ascription thing greed out of d.c. . She is a pretty girl but I just can't stand the way they have pictures with it with a mouth open stage if they take a picture with it just for methe clothes and those little as you know but.
