(walking bishop)the new legislationnbasically erases that stigma.making animal shelter volunteers very happy. liz lange, spca volunteer: before. i've been bitten by a - jack russel. why should these dogs be discriminated against? just because they have more muscle and can do more damage, doesn't mean they will."katie filkins, mila's owner:"if it's goinggto level the playing field for pit bulls, maybe it's not suuh a bad thing, but accidents happen, too." accidents-- that could soon hold all dog owners liable.in baltimore, paul gessser, fox455 nnws at ten. the legislation also affects landlords.they would no longer be held strictly liable for pittull bites.and, the bill would also make it illegal for landlords to specifically discriminate against pit bulls in housing. a maryland lawmaker says he will propose changing a gambling measure to create a joint house and senate panel to oversee gambling. delegate eric luedtke announced his plans during a meeting with members of the house of delegates. the measure would reshape the state lottery agency into a ánewá "state lottery ann gaming control" agency. members would be appointed by the governor with the consent of the senate. some lawmakers are concerned because it doesn't include input from the house. luedtke will submit the proposal tomorrow. if one lawmaker has his way... washington d-c for work will soon have to pay a tax. representative darrell issa... a california republican who chairs a house ccmmittee that overseas the district's affaars... says a 3- percent tax is worth looking at after the presidential election. maryland is the district's largest source offemployees... almost 25- thousand commuting into the district for work. analysts say the tax would raise one-point-two billion dollars ii revenue each year. baltimore city police are still searching for a man they saa shot another man at a party in west baltimore. baltimore.it happened on woodland avenue near pimlico road around 10 last night. police say the man was attending a neighborhood block party when the suspect approached him...shooting him multiple times in the upper body. the susppct fled the scene on foot. the victim remains in critical condition tonight. police are also searching for two suspects who shot one man and killed another early friday morning near the belvedere hotel on east chase street in mount vernon. the wounded man was identified as lawrence peterson, owner of the empire house inn...and known by many as the unofficial mayor of mount vernon. peterson is in critical but stable condition. the man who died has been identified as 40-yeaa-old joseph ulrich. police are offering a cash reward to anyone with information. a 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after he and his sister find a gun in a parking lot in hagerstown. officers say the boy and his 7-year-old sister were playing in the parking lot behind a building on west franklin street friday morning when they found a loaded 22 caliber beretta in a bush. the boy starttd playing with the gun and accidentally shot himself in the chest. police say the gun was not stolen. and they are still trying to track down the owner. fire that broke out at a town home in pasadena. firefighters are still keeping an eye out on the scene. officiils say the 2-alarm fire began in the basement of the home on della rose court near edwin raynor boulevard. onee person was taken to the hospital with severe but non- life threatening burns. no word on how the fire started. anne arundel county police search for a hit and run suspect tonight. tonight. just before 7:30 this morning... a man was found dead.... on the edge of solomans island road near harwood road.police determined he had been hit by a vehicle. vehicle.based on evidence gathered aa the scene... police are looking for a 2003 volkswagon golf, m- k- 4 with damage to the passenger side... speccfically the grille,,bumper, windshield and mirror.policeehave not released the identity of the victim.anyone with information is asked to call ane arundel police. it was supposed to be fixed in a couple weeks. now city crews say it will take up to three months to replace aad repair a broken pipeline in east baltimore. baltimore.melinda roeder is live from monument street with reaction from business owners...melinda? melinda? when the underground pipes burst - they created a huge sinkhole in the middle of the street.now business is sinking . too. it's been three weeks - since the sinkhole irst appeared. 12:12:40 "i was scary because we thought the whole hing was gonna cave in."nevfille philpotts was outside - and 12:12:26 "a towtruck went by... opened up." sine then - nearby shops on monument street have been watching -- and wondering when - the ciiy would get it fixed.
