myranda? >> well, jeff and karen, the officer is being treated at bayview hospital, but police say it looks like he will be okay. in the meantime, investigators are still here, on the scene of the shooting. which witnesses say turned this quiet neighborhood into a battle zone. >> crazy. very crazy. i couldn't believe it. >> timothy was walking with his dogs at 5:30 this evening when all of a study he heard gunshots. >> my first instinct was to take cover. so i would not be shot. >> baltimore county police say one of the officers was responding to a call that a man was beating a woman in the 6800 block of high view road, when the situation turned more dangerous. >> upon their arrival, officer approached the home, at which time, the individual discharged a firearm, striking the officer one time. in the upper torso. >> police say within seconds more officers were on the scene. and got into a gun battle with the suspect. who they ultimately shot and killed. >> very chaotic. swat team here. m 16s. recovered fire 30 times at least. >> a as for the officer shot, he was taken to bayview hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but the ordeal is still a shock to the department. >> this is a officer that has been with the agency nearly three decades. one of my best highly decorated officers, assigned to parkville command, and been with the agency approximately 30 years. >> and police really are not releasing a lot of details about this shooting. including the identity of the officer or the suspect. they do say that they are talking to several witnesses, and they hope to his life after police say he apparently tried to swallow evidence. 32-year-old bernard harris suffered a seizure after the arrest in east baltimore. tonight in grave condition at johns hopkins. and city police are serving for suspect after a murder overnight in west baltimore. happened at 1:30 in the 1500 block of edmondson avenue. police arrived on the scene to find a man stabbed several times. no word tonight on any suspects or a motive. >> maryland state police make a third arrest now in an edgewood carjacking. 19-year-old lamont harrison in custody at this hour, charged with car can jacking, robbery and assault. josh freeman, and 1 other were arrested earlier. the three beat a woman in her car monday night and tried to extort money for the release. >> and fatal workplace shooting in baltimore county. the president of a business is dead. the suspected gunman, then kills himself. keith daniels is live near rosedale with the latest on the tragic story. keith? >> live in the 7200 block of rolling mill road. shooting happened behind me at the keary advertising company. >> baltimore county police say the first man shot is wayne keri. the 59-year-old owner of keary advertising. a direct mail business. the shooter, was dennis mclaughlin, 45. investigators are calling the incident a murder-suicide. >> the first man, the victim that was shot, was dead at the scene. the shooter, after he tried to take his own life was taken to bayview where he died. >> mclaughlin walked into the building after noon holding a gun friday. and shot keri several times, in the upper body. killing him. then as panicked employees fled through a side do mclaughlin walked out the main entrance and shot himself. some of keri's family, friends, rushed to the business, after hearing about the shooting. >> my heart went to my feet. you know, my heart goes out to the family to mr. keri's family. >> it is upsetting. the guy just went in there and shot an innocent man. it would not be -- it was upsetting. >> why did it happen? >> believed it is a dough domestic incident. >> a domestic dispute believed to involve mclaughlin's wife. long time employee told reporters mclaughlin showed up baltimore court of law today as a former member of a cult backs out of a plea deal. kathleen cairns reports, the trial is set for january. >> marcus cobbs appeared in court friday fully expecting to enter a plea. he measured the body of javon thompson to be fit in a suitcase for storage. >> you take a little baby remains, and you put it in a suitcase, and you shove it in a van, and you transport it, you left it with somebody, and you never reported it. >> marcus cobb initially entered a guilty plea but that plea was later withdrawn by the defense attorney since the judge had not been made problem, is expected to get worse next he year. baltimore city may get less help from the state because of maryland's projected shortfall. among the solutions being considered? raising baltimore's property income, and energy taxes. and dipping into the city's rainy-day fund. >> particularly with the proposed additional cuts coming from the state. with our deficit, with the whole pension gap, that we currently have. so it is something that we are going to have to high lie consider because at that point it will be raining. >> taking money from the rainy-day fund hurts the bond rating. and increases the cost of borrowing money. >> meanwhile, mayor sheila dixon said she can continue to run the city, even while she is on trial. the trial for the charges she faces is set to begin november expensive at a time when we're broke. >> democratic house leadership wants to vote on the bill within the next two weeks. >> now the house version promises to insure 96 percent of all americans. tonight, we take a closer look at what's in the measure. and what it is going to cost you. >> the house plan costs $894 billion over 10 years. below the $900 billion limit set by president obama. and democratic leaders boast the legislation reduces the deficit by $30 billion over 10 years. >> the bill is fiscally sound will not add one dime to the deficit. >> democrats use information from the congressional budget office to make that claim. what they don't say is that after the initial 10 year period, the same budget office said the health bill will spend more than what it takes in. >> it will raise the cost of the american's health insurance. going to kill jobs with taxes hikes and new mandates in it. >> house bill includes the public option, government run insurance. all americans would be required to buy insurance. and sub is citizen keys would be provided to those that can not afford insurance. insurance companies would not be allowed to deny coverage, based on preexisting north kenwood avenue. chauncey jones 5'2, and weighs 130 pounds. >> 24-year-old lamont cook is wanted for attempted first-degree murder. investigators say early in the morning, on august 25, cook and his girlfriend were walking in the 2600 block of loyola south way and got in an argument. police believe cook then poured a drink over his girlfriend's head and then stabbed her in the neck. lamont cook is 5 feet 5 and weighs 155. >> then there is robert lee laner wanted for armed robbery, assault and reckless endangerment. police say he is responsible for a series of holdups in baltimore. "sports unlimited" starts right now. >> when the ravens take the field against the undefeated denver broncos on sunday. they are offensive line will have a tough task protecting court back flaky from the elite denver defense. broncos second in the league for most sacs with 21 so far this season. but among the group, is elvis dumerville that leads with 10 sacks. and good at using his small size to get under blockers and get to the quarterback. john harbaugh said his team past protection this season so far has been good but he needs to get a lot better in order to hold off the developing kos d. >> they beat blocks one-on-one, so do a nice job of bull rushing and getting on edges, relentless, never stop and talented fast guys. so that's where it comes down to. our guys blocking them. >> one of the main goals of a defense. it would be if i was coaching defense. is put pressure on the quarterback. make him feel uncomfortable. and it is their job of the good quarterback to overcome that. and offense line to overcome that. and, you know that's what we will do as offense. receivers get open on the outside and give me a chance to get back there and get the ball out of my hands. >> joe flacco has been nursing a ankle injury that he sustained in the minnesota game two weeks ago. but said that he will be fine to play this sunday. now halfway into the second year as a pro quarterback, joe flacco has shown why his team, and coaches, have so much confidence in him. with a 64 percent completion rate, joe flacco has thrown for over 300 yards, in three games this season. and he is also thrown for 11 touchdowns. the ravens receivers know that if they get open, joe flacco will get them the ball. >> joe has that ability to stand in a pocket and he has done it, you know, game in and game out to take a big hit and get back up and go to the next play. and if you have to stand in a pocket again for the team, he does it. so that's something you cannot teach. it has to be in you. and fortunately we have a quarterback that, you know, he has a sort of a defensive mentality when it comes to standing in the pocket. >> now, update on jared gaither. he is listed as questionable with a neck injury that he suffered in week four against the patriots. it is still unclear whether he will play this sunday. jared gaither had full participation in practice on wednesday. he sat down practice on thursday. and was limited today. neither jared gaither nor john harbaugh would comment on his status. >> now, to the world series. the yankees took game two in the bronxs last night on the arms of burnett and rivera. they held the phillies to just one run, on six hits.
