year veteran on the force. sylvester is a patrol office at the northwest district and tonight he is off the streets. >> at the northwestern police district city police have arrested a city officer. michael sylvester is accused of stealing money and drugs from suspected dealers. at police headquarters comments on the arrest. >> as you know, the police commissioner holds each of us to a very high degree of accountability. and you know, we demand that from the officers. >> investigators say the department recently transferred sylvester to the northwest division from a violent crimes unit at central district after getting complaints that sylvester was stealing from suspected drug dealers. internal affairs launched an undercover investigation and carmel la jenkins can windsor hills neighborhood. >> took a cop to set up a cop. >> wednesday night. >> sylvester was on patrol when undercover officers activated the sting. sylvester called here to the 3900 block of carlisle avenue to investigate, he thought illegal drug activity. >> undercover officer stood on the block posing as a drug dealers. and investigators say he arrived, and stole $70 from the fake dealer. and then found three ziplock bags of cocaine in sylvester's locker in the district station. a cop busted by another cop. >> they randomly do these sting operations, and then we also rely on the public's help. so, again anybody with any concern about police we encourage them to contact internal affairs. because we have zero tolerance for this type of behavior. >> they are people too. good cops, bad cops. and i feel like all cops are not bad. let you know that. not all cops are bad. good cops and bad cops. >> sylvester faces drug and theft investigation. and suspended with pay pending the outcome of the rekindled debate over whether the deal benefits bge customers. >> it is a heated debate over nuclear power and just how rate payors would be impacted. at stake $4.5 billion deal in which constellation energy would sell half of its nuclear power business to a french utility company. if the public service commission gives its blessing, constellation said the state would reap a huge windfall. >> talking about real money. $130 million of tax that would be due to the state of maryland, on on the sale of constellation energy portion of calvert cliffs nuclear power plant. and happen within weeks. marylanders is considered obese. and as weight grows so do problems. >> patients over weight hadi beats, hypertension, cholesterol, arthritis. back pain. hip pain. >> and the cost of treating those problems is not cheap. in fact, new study published in the journal health affairs, breaks down the financial burden of obesity. >> the study found that the medical costs associated with obesity have doubled in the past decade. and those that are over weight, it found, spent $1500 more a year for medical care, than those that are not over weight. >> my patients are struggling with pain for all of their medicines, and if they did not have these obesity related complications, it would save them a lot of money. >> we are carrying the costs of people that choose unhealthy life styles. >> at comp and state university dr. stanton spent years tracking the escalating costs. and according to stanton, more than half of the medical costs related to obesity are paid for by publicly funded programs. >> if we should reduce the number of obese people, we could have a major impact on reducing overall medical costs. >> jim baker is winning his battle with obesity. he has dropped 230 pounds in five years. >> i can't really fix what was broken. i can make sure that i don't waste any more time. >> doing great. >> but for sharon farris, the struggle goes on. >> i know they have got me when i say that high pressure right over the area continues to stick around. no changes foreseen in the forecast. things are nice and quiet. 63 degrees downtown right now. partly cloudy skies. winds are calm. and full moon out there tonight. and it looks like beautiful evening. humidity levels at 75 percent. and we will continue to see those temperatures cooling off for the overnight. during the daylight hours, see temperatures increasing a bit. we have the area of high pressure that is pretty much locked itself in over the great lakes and you have the clockwise rotation of high pressure. bringing down comfortable cooler air out of the north. so seeing less humidity. and seeing the area of high pressure blocking moisture off to the east. so there is rain out there over the atlantic. but it is not coming back into our neck of the woods. and showers down there, in southern indiana over towards lexington 10 kentucky. but that's it. and as it runs into the dry air it dissipates. looking at nice comfortable conditions. here is what's happening temperature wise. 62 in harrisburg. 73 in baltimore. 71 new york city. looking at 65 in richmond. and we will continue to see those temperatures stay on the nice and mild side of things. actually as the high pressure shifts south. it starts to bring in warmer air from the south. and seeing the temperatures increase into the lower mid 80s. getting up to mid to upper 80s by saturday. late afternoon into sunday. so it looks like we will see a little increase in the temperatures through the weekend. but high pressure continues to keep the moisture off to the east. so i think we may see a few clouds as we get into saturday. if we have any shower activity it would be mainly on the eastern shore. i think, maybe late friday. maybe saturday. but i think for the most part the week looks good if you are going out to the beach. going to the mountains, west, to deep creek lake for the weekend. temperatures in the mid to upper 70s with plenty of sunshine. and as we get into the eastern shore, it looks like very nice conditions around 82 for friday. and northerly wind at five to 10. looking at nice comfortable conditions. and as we get out to the beach. lots of folks going out to ocean city aura hoe bath beach. 78. and clouds and breezy. and lovely weekend to get out to the beach. pretty busy out there. if you are going to the fair, looks like saturday, sunday, monday, temperatures from 83 to 86 degrees. plenty of sunshine. looks like a fabulous weekend. just to do outside activities leading us into labor day. bay cast.
