again. >> good morning, savannah. we are talking about a storm that is getting itself together, not quite a hurricane yet, but it will be before long. here is the latest on isaac. right now 185 miles west southwest of florida, 360 miles east of the mouth of the mississippi river. maximum sustained winds 65 miles per hour. it is getting better organized, moving west northwest at 14. basically as you can see on the radar, it is getting a wide swath here. a lot of rain still in central florida as it pushes through. now, the path of the system is going to -- the path of isaac starts to make its way. it makes its move moving forward fairly rapidly by late tonight, early tomorrow, becomes a category one storm. as it gets closer to shore, it will slow up, no steering currents. looks like it will come on shore as a category one storm. we can't rule out it could come on as category two. what we expect with that is a storm surge of anywhere from 4 to 12 feet above normal into louisiana on into mississippi and alabama. as you get toward the panhandle, a little bit less. but that's going to be a big problem, that wall of water. a lot of folks who are not within the levee system are going to have to evacuate and rainfall is going to be a big factor as well. we're talking anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of rain. this is going to be a sustained period of hurricane conditions for about 24 hours. that is going to be a big problem. while this is not as big as katrina, if it makes landfall on wednesday, it's seven years to the day katrina made landfall. we are talking about really serious if it's a category one they will be in good shape. nonetheless al mentioned folks living outside the protection of levees in those parishes to the south of new orleans. they are there right now under mandatory evacuation order. new orleans right now it's only a suggestion. if folks want to pack up and leave. there's no mandatory order here. that would not occur unless they knew they were watching a category three. what they are telling people, if there is an evacuation of new orleans, there will be no so-called shelters of last resorts, no superdome, airports, if ordered to leave, everyone will be expected to leave. there will be no lass to hide or ride out the storm. back to you, natalie. >> thanks so much, lester. good morning to everyone again. hundreds of small to moderate
