coming out of white marsh. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> thank you. the investigation into the disappearance of a girl in northwest baltimore has taken another twist. >> the fbi has stepped in. jennifer franciotti is live at city police headquarters with more. good morning. >> police spent yesterday searching leakin park. they were acting on a comment left on the website of "the baltimore sun." they had dogs, helicopters, and the dive team, but they turned up nothing. the common said to look at the southward shoulder of leakin park. the person who made that comment intended to make a suggestion based on the history of that area. police had no choice but to investigate the matter in the way that they did. >> detectives have been working around the clock, literally around the clock on this case, 20 detectives. they are in shifts. this is an extremely high priority for us. every hour that passes, we get more and more concerned. >> she was last seen in baltimore a week ago. she has not used her cell phone or credit cards. another reason why police suspect foul play, coming up. reporting live, jennifer franciotti. >> police are investigating a late-night shooting in northeast baltimore. officers were called to pelham avenue and found a man suffering from a pair of gunshot wounds. no word on a possible suspect. police arrested a murder suspect who called 911 on himself. authorities say a man admitted to an operator that he shot his landlord, harry wagner. the man surrendered when police arrived at his home. no word of what prompted the shooting. >> a person standing along a downtown road has died after being struck by a bus. this was at the intersection of martin luther king boulevard and eutaw street just before 6:30 last night. the pedestrian has died of those industries. the man has been identified in yesterday's fatal car accident. he was russell william lewis. this was near dulaney valley road. the truck caught fire, shutting down the inner loop for nearly an hour yesterday morning. it is not clear what caused louis to run off the road. please do not believe speed or alcohol were factors. >> hundreds crowded in ocean downs slots casino, 5 miles outside of ocean city. it seems to be a hit with gamblers. >> i walked in and i got -- holy cow. >> i think it looks nice. it will need to grow a little bit. but they have done a beautiful job. >> officials say 750 machines are in operation. >> the man who was once the top health official is coming back to maryland. dr. joshua sharfstein is stepping down from his post as deputy commissioner of the food and drug administration to take on the job of maryland state health secretary. he pushed for tougher enforcement of the safety measures for over-the-counter health medicine for children. president obama signed into law an overhaul of the nation's food safety system. this aims to prevent food portcullises before they occur. republicans have been critical of the legislation. >> it is the start of a new era in washington as the 112th congress is sworn in. on their agenda, the repeal of the president's health care reform act, which they characterize as costly and unconstitutional. >> we're going to fight as hard as we can to make certain we end the job-killing policies that were put in place over the past two to four years. >> this is one less minute they are spending on job south. it will not give us any precipitation. a clipper in canada will be diving down from the north to the east and skirting across our area thursday night into friday. it will bring us a chance of some sun shares. a quick chance of some light snow. nothing more than a nuisance. it will happen during the friday morning commute. the darker blue is more significant kind of snow. this will be light play. more than 100 investigators searched leakin park for nearly eight hours. they had dogs, helicopters, and a dive team, but they turned up nothing. police were acting on a comment left on "the baltimore sun" website about the search for 16-year-old phylicia barnes. it said, "humor me. somebody pop over to the 4000 block of franklin town road and look at the southward shoulder." police later learned the person who made that comment intended to make a suggestion based on the history of the area. during a news conference earlier in the day, a police spokesperson told reporters that investigators have little information to go on, and no suspects. >> detectives have been working around the clock, literally around the clock on this case, 20 detectives. they are in shifts. this is an extremely high priority for us. every hour that passes, we get more and more concerned. >> barnes was last seen tuesday around 1:30 at the reisterstown square apartments in northwest baltimore. she the case of a runaway. and again, as we said yesterday, we do suspect some type of foul play. >> the fbi has joined the investigation. investigators are now re- interviewing the people who saw barnes in addition to going back and doing more interviews, they also served several search warrants yesterday at seven different locations. unfortunately, it did not turn up anything significant. reporting injections. no word on how much more time is needed. the last execution happened in 2005 in maryland. there are currently five men on maryland cost death row. >> it has been nearly 40 years since maryland has added additional taxes. with the state suffer, the pinch of a budget crunch, everything is on the table. >> we are here today to say that just like tobacco tax increase, alcohol tax increases are good policy and good politics. >> the president of the maryland citizens health initiative announced the plan to support the 10 cent per alcohol to drink attacks during the next legislative session. the tax will be imposed on the wholesale level per gallon at the 10 cent per drink average and will be passed onto business owners and on to the consumer. the estimated 2015 million dollars in new revenue will be used for various health programs around the state. according to a professor, the average drinker would pay an average of $10.83 per year with heavy drinkers picking up the lion's share. >> the 24% of marylanders who are the riskiest drinkers, heaviest drinkers, binge drinkers, those who report driving after drinking will pay llk of the -- bulk of the tax. >> as a pollster, in these economic times, to seat 2/3 of the public to support any kind of a tax measure is unusual. other sorts of tax proposal to not enjoy this kind of support. >> it is just another tax. what would any business guy think about it? it is ridiculous. >> not so fast. the new tax would cripple some small businesses with consumers buying less and causing those in border states not to purchase in maryland. >> it would raise all the prices of every business lifeline in the state of maryland. it would make us less competitive with the states around us a. >> 19 state senators time of year. the normal high in baltimore is 41 degrees. we surpassed that yesterday. a little bit below today with more sunshine and clouds. winds at of the northwest this afternoon at 10 to 15 miles per hour up 340 degrees down on the lower eastern shore today. a great day to absorb the scenery. partly cloudy skies, 20 to 26 degrees overnight tonight. we will see an increase in the cloud cover as the date and the night progressed. maybe on the day on friday, -- a chance -- a system will skirt to our south tomorrow. a clipper advances to the area on friday. it will make good track and head back home, things will be nicer in baltimore on sunday night. hopefully we will come away with a big victory. we will be in the 30's, below normal as we hit friday into saturday. that will dogs and helicopters. that search did not turn up anything. they were there based on a comment on the website that said pop over to the 4000 block of franklin town road and looked at the southward
