alternate. >> we begin with a breaking story out of pakistan. a passenger jet has crashed in the hills outside of islamabad. >> the airblue was flying from karachi to islamabad when it went down as it was coming in to land. the weather and rough terrain made it difficult for rescue crews to reach that scene. two dozen bodies have been recovered. five survivors have been found. we will have more details as they become available. >> new details about the criminal background of suspects accused of robbing and killing a researcher at johns hopkins university. >> jennifer franciotti is live at police headquarters with more. >> john wagner and his wife are both charged in first-degree murder. john wagner has a rap sheet dating back 20 years. he convinced a judge to keep him on the streets despite the fact he was meeting the terms of his probation. the victim in this case is stephen pitcairn. he was stabbed while walking back to is charles village apartment. he was on the phone with his mother when he was attacked. levelva wagner and her husband john are accused of first-degree murder. there was an alleged holdup in april that was caught on tape. when pitcairn was killed, wagner was on -- wagner told the judge he was battling addiction and mental health issues. he took a job at a law firm to support his family. the judge declined to send him to jail. >> we need to stop this revolving door in which violent criminals are arrested only to see their charges dismissed. >> 11 news has learned investigators have found evidence linking the couple to pitcairn's murder including blood and the victim's wallet. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. still no charges filed this morning in the case of a newborn tossed out side of a window just moments after being born. the child was just delivered went the mother dropped the newborn out the window. relatives heard the child's cries and found her wrapped in a plastic bag. this is a case that has police and neighbors scratching their heads. >> there were claims that she did not know she was pregnant. we did no family members conveyed the fact that they did not know she was pregnant. >> i do not know what to say. she is a nice girl. she already had a kid. she was trying to take care of herself. >> police are still interviewing the woman and her family. the baby is being treated at the neonatal intensive care unit. >> police have arrested four suspects in a series of robberies on the light rail system. none of them are older than 17. mostly this was at the cherry hill station. the community was key to helping investigators tracked down the suspects. >> anytime 8 community steps up and plays a role, it is a great asset to the police department equipped police say one of the victims was rocked for as little as $6. one suspect is being charged as an adult. >> the marriott waterfront hotel remains empty this morning. an estimated 100,000 gallons of water did extensive damage to the carpets, walls, and ceilings from the fourth floor down. all of the guests were needed to be relocated to other hotels. the guest will not be allowed to return until the elevators are deemed safe. some very heavy delays in developing in that area. no problems on the ramp to the inner loop and northbound 83 is checking out fine. you might want to take york road to avoid those delays. let's switch over to a live view of traffic. no problems to report heading down from those ramps. jammed conditions on southbound 83. another problem, north avenue, some fire activity blocking north avenue. in columbia, an accident at harriet tubman lane and cedar lane. >> thank you. polygamist leader will be getting a new trial. he was convicted by a utah jury as an accomplice for his role in the murder of a 14-year-old follower. he is serving two consecutive terms. wildfires continued to burn in california. the fire has charred about eight square miles. six homes have burned down. the cause of the fire is not known. a chicago jury will start deliberating the fate of ron blagojevich. the judge will instruct the jury on the case what and then hand the case over to them. blagojevich has pleaded not guilty on charges of trying to trade or sell appointments on the seat barack obama vacated when he became president. much anticipated next step into the electric car market. but the price of the chevy volt might send you into sticker shock. it will cost $41,000 when it goes on sale. that is about 8000 more than the nissan leaf. the gm will offer a least package for about $350 a month. the chevy volt has a gasoline engine that kicks in at a traveling on battery power alone. good news for back-to-school shoppers, but bad news on the baltimore construction industry. jane king has more in on tap for the weekend. >> the details in the investigation of the murder of a johns hopkins researcher. >> jennifer franciotti joins us from baltimore city police headquarters with more details on this story. >> stephen pitcairn would have turned 24 years old yesterday. he was on the phone with his mother when he was attacked. blood evidence is tied to the suspects. his co-workers left a card and a cake on the spot where he was stabbed to death. the woman accused of taking his life appeared in court and heard the charges against her -- first-degree murder, assault and conspiracy. the judge denied bail for levelva wagner. her husband is also accused. his rap sheet spent 20 years. six arrests for violent crimes including this holed up in april. police say the footage shows wagner choking and biting a man over $7 and a cell phone. wagner was charged with armed robbery. the victim refused to come to court. >> we cannot proceed without the victim. >> prosecutors should have pursued the case more aggressively to get wagner off the case. >> like many murders, this was not just senseless, it was preventable. >> when pitcairn was killed, wagner was on supervised probation for a assault. he violated the probation twice. wagner told the judge he was badly addiction and mental health issues. judge howard said he was on the right track and declined to send him to jail. investigators did find some blood evidence linking the suspect to the victim, including blood and the victims cell phone and wallet. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> police have arrested a convicted sex offender living under an assumed name. the man was tracked down while living under the name of raymond clark. he was convicted of sex crimes in florida. he was also wanted in pennsylvania. anyone who may have encountered this man is asked to call the carroll county share rose -- sheriff's office. police are asking for help in tracking down a rape suspect. police think this man has committed sexual assaults and expose himself in the woodlawn area. he tried to rape a woman on franklin avenue last week. anyone with information is asked to call baltimore police. >> and alleged serial killer has been -- the fbi and police now believe the murder of delores dewitt and her daughter in 2009 is connected to another murder of a mother and daughter in january of that same year. jason scott is being held in custody. no word on what a trial is set to begin. >> an accident between a van and mta bus sent 10 people to the hospital. this happened yesterday. this happened on north wolfe street at east oliver street. the driver of the van failed to stop at a stop sign and rammed into the bus. an investigation has included a faulty circuit was to blame etween two trains on d.c.'s natural. a culture of indifference to chronic safety issues led to the crash that killed nine and injured 52 others. the oncoming train struck the rear of the stopped train. >> maryland is one step closer to receive
