conditions. it is a little cooler up north at the pennsylvania line. we are watching some thunderstorms coming at us from the great lakes. they have weakened the over the last couple of hours but there's a possibility that the cluster of storms could altogether and visit us in maryland to night. in between now and then, it should be dry. if you have outdoor plants, i think you will be okay. we are watching a cold front come across the great lakes and this will come here during the middle of next week. until that time, the flow will become the head of the west- southwest. for today, a mix of sun and clouds, warmer and more humid than yesterday with temperatures in the upper 80's and a low 90's. partly cloudy skies tomorrow with a chance for thunderstorms to night and it will be monday with temperatures dropping into the 70's in love -- most locations. we will put a 30% chance for a thunderstorm in the forecast for sunday. most of the will of a dry weekend but it will be hot again most women don't know their breast density. mindy basara explains why knowing is important. >> this 77-year-old gets regular mammograms. >> i want to live a healthy life. thank god, i live a healthy life. >> like many women, she does not know her breast density. >> no, i don't. they never told the and i never asked. they said things were all right and that is what i am happy about. >> it is not something you can feel? it has to be determined on the x-ray image? >> dr. jean warner says finding up breast density is important. the fact shows the dark on the x-ray. >> some patients have extremely dense breast tissue where their entire breast looks white. in those cases, it is tough to find cancer on the mammogram. >> dr. warner says there is growing evidence that women with dense breast tissue and by higher risk of developing breast cancer. a recent survey found that 95% of women did not know their breast density and 90% did not know it increases their chance of breast cancer. doctors have spoken to less than one in 10 women about breast density. >> we need to get that message out to women that they should investigate what the density of their breast tissue is and speak to their doctors about it. there might be other things that they should be doing if you have a dense breast tissue. >> joining us more -- joining us for more -- is this study a big deal? >> this study came from an online survey. i think it is important for women to be aware of the results of the mammogram and the limitations of it, i don't think a woman needs to go not to worry about breast density. >> we have enough to worry about. you try to give yourself self exams and everything feels the same. i don't know what is going on. is that part of the dense breast issue? >> dr. warner said it is not something back can be determined by physical exam. it is important for a woman to proceed with self exams. she needs to know her baseline. with regard to breast density, is a reasonable question to ask when you get a mammogram results. what will you do about it? there are studies underway that are looking at the role of ultrasound in combination with mammograms but we do not know those results yet. people also look at mri's, but sometimes this can lead to anxiety. we don't want to get to a far ahead of ourselves. >> you hear the technicians and sometimes the radiologists ask what that means. >> we know that women who have a dense breasts that the sensitivity of the test is down compared to women who have less dense breasts. there was a study that suggested that women with dense breasts have a higher rate of breast cancer. >> do we need to have more than one mammogram per year? >> that depends on the findings in addition to the density. there are some situations where if the density is impressive enough that maybe an additional diagnostic tests like ultrasound may be appropriate. i don't think we should say that all women need to get these tests. >> get your mammogram. >> the key point is that the mammogram is the one screening test which we know is the most important. women need to continue to get them on an annual basis. >> if you have any other questions or you would like to refer all, call this #. >> are this weekend's new movie is worth the price of admission?
