in the ken harris murder trial. let's go to barry simms with the late breaking details. >> to of the defendants were found guilty of the murder charges, one was not. this verdict came in just moments ago. jurors found jerome williams and charles mcganey guilty. jurors convicted them on all 29 counts that each of them face. this after three weeks of testimony. jurors found the third defendant, gary collins, not guilty of federal -- felony murder or second degree murder, but they found him guilty on other charges. his wife and children were in the courtroom. we were hoping to talk to them to get their comments on the verdict. also, a juror that left -- we were unable to talk to any of the jurors except for one, who said they were glad it was all over. since last friday, they were deliberating. they were deadlocked for a little while. now, evidently, they have reached their verdict and have found jerome williams and charles mcganey guilty of murder. and gary collins has been convicted of the other charges. we will have more at 5:00 and 6:00 tonight. >> thank you. two suspects charged in what officials say the largest drug bust in baltimore county history are now free on bond. they were arrested earlier this week after police discovered an extensive marijuana growing operation at the warehouse in east point. the warehouse contained plants and processed marijuana valued at $35 million. >> at the moment, it looks like the potential maximum sentence would be 10 years, but we are really examining the statutes and the quantity to see if we can do a little bit better than that. >> both suspects face charges. baltimore city police are touting an impressive drug bust on their own. after obtaining a search warrant, investigators found crack, a gun, and $15,000 at the suspect's home. he remains at central booking this afternoon. an annapolis high school student faces several charges, including a first-degree sex offense. police arrested 17-year-old troy reid. authorities say it happened last friday morning ride across the street from the school. investigators believe the attack the girl after she rejected his advances. >> at that time, he became angry and picked up a steak and threw it at her and knocked her to the ground. at tha point, he maintained control of her on the ground and committed the sexual assault. >> he is being charged as an adult. three staff workers have now retired after the murder of a patient there last month. the three employees were on duty the night investigators say it woman was strangled at the psychiatric hospital in jessup. a developing story out of downtown last night were baltimore police found the body of a woman at the bottom of an elevator shaft. her body was found around 10:30 last night in a vacant building. authorities believe the woman was homeless and living in the building but are unsure if she was murdered or fell down the elevator shaft. an autopsy is planned for later today. >the labor department released its september employment report this morning, numbers that could set the strategies for the home stretch of the midterm election campaigns. kate amara has what the new report shows. >> the report, just released by the labor department, shows the u.s. economy lost 95,000 jobs in september, more than the 8000 that were expected. the on and on the rate remains unchanged at 9.6%. one last snapshot of america's landscape before voters head to the polls prove the >> the economy ways really heavily on me. >> it is a major factor. >> fewer americans are applying for first-time unemployment benefits. the question now, can the private sector and add enough jobs to bring relief to this nation's 15 million unemployed? the truth. >> illegal electrical hookups are being blamed for those devastating fires in detroit last month. there is evidence of illegal electrical work in some of the abandoned homes that caught fire. high winds up to 55 miles per hour helped to spread the resulting fires. only 29 of those homes were occupied. and mother is dead after helping her five young children to escape a fire in louisville, ky. she heard her smoke detector yesterday morning and immediately began trying to get her children out. the first floor was engulfed in flames show she began throwing her children out of a second story window. >> i ran up not even thinking about anything. he jumped and i grabbed him and put him down. >> after all the children out, she collapsed. she was rushed to the hospital but later died. the children were treated for minor injuries. more than 10,000 baby cribs are on the recall list in our consumer alert. recommendations from health officials for this flu season. >> nice
