atlantic companion ship is back at the pierre and the crew is safe tonight after they had anxious moments on the water this afternoon. >> i was in the bottom of the ship loading heavy equipment. >> it was work as usual on the ship this afternoon, until a strong gust of wind came through and the 900 foot ship broke free, and drifting in the harbor. this was one of 40 people on board. >> the ship was not on the dock anymore. >> it carries automobiles. it was in the dundalk marine terminal, where officials say it appears lines broke free because of up to 60 mile per hour winds. it was drifting for several minutes before tugboat's responded. >> there was an investigator on board looking into why this happened. >> we spoke with one of the crew members on board over the phone and during the rescue. >> we did not know how long we were going to be out here. >> when you are out to sea, and you do not know how you are getting home. you really do not know what is going to happen. >> the crew member we spoke with said a colleague had been on board during a similar incident. coast guard officials say it is unusual for a ship to break free like that, even during high winds. they are looking swept away by floodwaters. they were from five-month old to 11 years old. in other news, officials are investigating the cause of a suspicious fire that led to the death of a 44 year-old woman. firefighters responded to bel air wednesday night. the 911 call got disconnected before the arrival. they found a woman unconscious in a second-floor bedroom. she died from her injuries on thursday afternoon. a verdict has been reached in the trial of a community activist accused of killing a pregnant wife outside of a city courthouse. after three days of deliberations, they found cleveland williams jr. guilty of first-degree murder and carrying a deadly weapon. many are glad that justice has been served. >> when the verdict came, i just wanted there to be some type of justice. at the end of the day, veronica is gone. >> she was killed after being granted with a protective order against her husband. williams will be sentenced in april and could get up to life in prison. same-sex marriage opponents in annapolis are bombarded voters. they are trying to keep it from becoming law in maryland. the senate passed a bill last night. david collins have a latest from the state house. >> the campaign to defeat the same-sex marriage bill has begun early. the maryland the receipt is behind rowboat calls blanketing specific areas of the state. -- robot calls blanketing specific areas
