That will force him to find new and innovative ways to maximize the effectiveness of. Those partnerships so as I said yesterday this announcement was made and I remember now what it was it was I was on Twitter and I get this announcement that the county executives. Live Twitter thing in Facebook it's like it's a live feed but I don't know it's called and Twitter and there was this press conference that was being held and you know you had some of the congressional delegates there the congressional representatives there including John Sarbanes. Trooper's Berger you had Senator Ben Cardin the Baltimore County Executive the police chief Melissa Hyatt in the Baltimore City police commissioner and the mayor Mayor Jack it's like everybody was there of course I'm thinking when that is happening here well what they were announcing was the $4600000.00 in new federal public safety grants for Baltimore City and Baltimore County and as I'm listening to them all talk about partnerships and what we need and how complicated it is to fight crime and you know the different avenues and aspects that need to be dealt with I'm sitting here watching this and seeing very visually Baltimore City and Baltimore County working together on this and what that told me is oh cool so we're going to finally recognize and some of you have and some of our leaders have but as a whole we're going to finally recognize that there is no actual barrier between Baltimore County and Baltimore City or any of the surrounding jurisdictions and we're now recognizing officially is what this tells me that the crime in Baltimore City is not staying in Baltimore City so for everyone and Marty in Parkville writes in I've missed you Marty we in the county are constantly told stop talking about the city because you don't have skin in the game I don't have skin in the game when 4 city use came to my neighborhood and one of them decided it was Ok to run over a fine young police office. That serve my community I have more than skin in the game murders in my county are up 52 percent most have ties to Baltimore City there's been 3 murders in Middle River and multiple shootings in Parkville in just the past few weeks and remember whose tax dollars are for funding your joint task force on crime Marty is absolutely right and yesterday when we discussed issues in Baltimore City I get the same response why are you always saying negative things about Baltimore City and you know people need to just stay out of the city if they don't like it 1st of all fun an option it's not an option it's like yours are left arm guess what you're attached whether you like it or not you're part of this body you don't get to decide that oh Baltimore City is a jurisdiction and to itself our tax dollars the majority of the tax dollars that are spent in Baltimore City come from outside of the city so everyone else in ball in the state of Maryland who may not want to come to Baltimore city that's fine but guess what your tax dollars sure are walking in there they are finding their way into Baltimore City so you have a vested financial industry and interest in the city but also. A crime that we're all looking at from outside of the city and thinking Man is pretty bad oh really because it's coming your way there is no barrier there is going to keep that crime locked in to Baltimore City and Baltimore County is seeing that and run a county is seeing that and what I saw yesterday when I saw all these federal partners along with Baltimore County is a recognition that hey you know what this is getting to be a problem everywhere so while it might have been easier at one point to assume that that crime was going to stay in Baltimore and just say Oh man well going to the city guess what you won't have to go into the city it's coming to you and this is becoming I think a recognition I'm glad to see the county and the city standing together in this kind of partnership because it's a recognition of that and once you recognize it when we say once we stop putting our head in the stand then I think we'll actually do something about it let's take a call real fast let's take a bill in Baltimore failure and. Say So Baltimore City I like to refer to it as a dumpster fire like all fires if you don't put them out the fires going to support it so that's exactly what's happening it spreading into the county jail because the criminal element of Baltimore City has become so involved and that the fact that counties I don't these are usually much different on crime then they are in the city that they just kind of don't care anymore don't even think about it yeah yeah and thanks for the call Bill and you know there is a lot of there is a lot of wrong in Baltimore City there's a lot of corruption a lot of crime but there's still a lot of good things but if we don't tackle what is wrong if we don't address that thing Guess what it's going to get worse and it's going to spread like Bill said I got this text message if you think that drug dealers and violent offenders are confined to the city you're being naive Oh yes you are you are being very naive if you think that that crime and violence is just going to stay in the. Really that you don't you know don't worry about it whole yes we do because it's nothing but a car ride away as many people in Baltimore County are starting to figure out let's take another call real fast let's take Mike in town to my car and. I want to make a couple statements number one we're sure Governor or all part of the state of Maryland How come the governor hasn't taken action that's number one number 2 the last time we've had any kind of really good control of the city of all the crime was under William battle safer. Yeah everybody brings him thank you for the call Mike and look here's here's the deal with Governor Hogan you know sometimes we have short memories but last week Governor Hogan announced that they heard that the state was going to be putting in $21000000.00 So the feds just announced or I guess this delegation announced yesterday that they were getting $4600000.00 in federal funding Well Governor Holder announced last week that they were getting $21000000.00 to aid in crime fighting and I always get the question well why can't the governor step in and do more well because his jurisdiction is limited He can't just walk into Baltimore City and take over I know a lot of us want that to happen and I'm not saying I haven't wanted that as well but he can't just do that he can't literally physically or legally cannot just come over and take over the city of Baltimore there are restrictions there but what he did you last week in announcing $21000000.00 in aid to help with more prosecutors at the A.G.'s office the attorney general Brian process office to aid with federal prosecutors to aid with different police state police coming in to help Baltimore City Police this is helping or it should help you know here whole lot about that right there's not a whole lot said about what Governor Hogan is talking about doing which is a whole different topic in and of itself but what I'm saying is I think he is interested he does know what's going on and I think he recognizes that this is not just an issue for Baltimore City it hasn't been for a long time but it certainly isn't now I want to get your thoughts on this you can text me 410-467-9225 you can also give me a call 410467. Let's take Doc Cheatham in Baltimore documented b.v.a. Oh thanks so much for taking my call Greetings to you as well to answer to all of those coal accidently cause us to your described live in Maryland they've all said that's what is the government Bill and I think the government is doing what is expected of him I think Will. Has to happen we have to do more here and Valma City to address it but we also need our Cali brothers and sisters to understand it's only a matter of time that it's going to go to your county if we don't all understand this is a problem of the state of Maryland yes specifically Valma city and our elected leadership and hopefully we would do a better job and putting some of these people out of the pass and don't realize them because they have been a part of the problem but we had to understand it's only a matter of time I've been saying as to Monday was out lived here all my life I'm 69 years old I've been saying to our neighbors for years and I've been fighting crime that I get on the dresser there's some point it's going to knock on your door and we don't want to come knocking on your door to tell you that your loved one's been hurt someone in your area has been killed but Paul McCown I'm a gun recounted Prince George's is going to hit all of you had some point were less come together less work together male female black white doesn't matter rich poor This is a problem that we all need to address and sadly enough it's been a drug problem in Baltimore for more years than I've been living and most of this is basically drug and money oriented and we've got to work on it so let's come together families a great season for us to set aside our differences let's find a way to work together common violence has to be addressed and understand one thing Madani people that live in bomb a city on the people who really work here we have just as many people don't live in Valma city but run back out to the county if they can the crime is going to disappear let's work together family let's work together I hear you thank you so much for that doc and thanks for listening Baltimore County executive John l. Schenk you said yesterday at the news conference we know keeping our community safe is one of our most important responsibilities we're here because we understand the root causes of violence are complex there's no single cause or solution but I would add to that is that there's also no barrier as Doug Sheehan was saying in that last phone call. If you think that this crime is going to stay in the city it's not too many people have been calling in texting with their own stories of how they have seen the crime creeping into the county and it's not just Baltimore County but in town yesterday when I saw this press conference with the addition of the federal grants 4600000 dollars And hopefully the 21000000 dollars that Governor Hogan spoke about last week. I hope we're starting to recognize that people. Baltimore City is not a separate island unto itself if you think that you can just go back to the county and you can ignore what's going on in Baltimore City I'm telling you you won't be able to do that for long when your taxpayer dollars are taken out of your pocket and they go to Annapolis and they get distributed everywhere it's easier for us to forget about it right it's easier for us to ignore the fact that most of the tax dollars that go into Baltimore City come from outside of the city but there is once that crime as Dutchy Tim said starts knocking on your door you can't ignore that so we've got to look at what's going on in Baltimore City we've got to look at the breakdowns and see what we can do to fix that now I played you a clip earlier of police commissioner Michael Harrison talking about the partnerships that are important but one of the most critical partnerships that has seemingly broken down is that of the police department and the state's attorney for whatever one ever reason I don't know what it is but they seem to be at each other instead of working with each other and that is a problem you cannot have the state's attorney having a press conference where she basically calls out the police department for marijuana arrests and always pitting one side against the other Wake up people you do realize that you were on the same team you can't work together you cannot solve crime you can't be a useful and effective component of crime fighting if you're always going to be trying to undercut each other it is a problem and it's a problem that doesn't just exist on Twitter as the back and forth goes on it's a problem that exists within our judicial system and it has to do with politics is enough I recognize that we need to have a partnership a solid partnership with our federal partners with our state partners but if Baltimore city cannot become a partner and into itself your own agencies your own crime fighting partners. In bigger fish to fry. Let's take another call let's take Jerry and Perry home Jerry on to be ale. To Jerry I just like to say that I listen to the police commission quite attentively Harvey decided to speak publicly and I've yet to have been able to hear him mention any type of force that he does when they were still in the a.t.m. Machines in just 14 of them now have been taken in southwest Baltimore pulled out of 5 version stores at night I've yet to hear him say I've got a group of men enough force and we're going to go out we're going to catch these guys we're going to end it 14 I'm going now and they do it the villain and he's never caught and everyone knows Listen it's always theory it's always let's see we need partners it's a it's a it's a root problem it's something the schools that have to adjust it's everything but him being a long force an officer are not all that thanks for the call Jerry you know I don't even know if to say that I think that the police commissioner is. I'm still reserving judgment there because he has come in at a very difficult time but what we're told in the beginning well he has the experience of working under a consent decree he has the experience of bringing New Orleans through the violence in the spike in crime that they saw oh well guess what we're not ending the year on a very good note and I do recognize as the police commissioner said we've got to look at trends in I think at one point he actually referenced the homicide rate in maybe we should be looking strictly at the homicide rate but you know what a lot of people in Baltimore City don't feel like we have the time to be patient don't feel like we can be patient to you know wait for the plan to start working Look I recognize that from a $5000.00 foot level I recognize the need for that but I also recognize the fact that there are children in Baltimore City who cannot ride a bike up and down their street I can ordinary child would where there are parents who send their kids to school in Baltimore City and some of them have a knife in their pocket why so they can protect themselves on their way to school that is a disaster that is shameful and I recognize that we need to have some patience that we need to you know try to figure out what the long term solution is yes I get that but also recognize that the ground level patience is a luxury the lot of people do not have simply do not have I want to get your thoughts on this you can text me 410-467-1225 you can also give me a call at 410467. Interesting text Johnny Oh I thought you were not implementing federal policy Oh. Yes well I suppose maybe the things change when we talk about crime fighting in immigration law but we'll save that for another day. Let's see a lot of text messages on this and we'll get to them in just a moment but I said yesterday watching bits of that news conference this. 1st thing that struck me is that you have Baltimore City and Baltimore County politicians talking about this these grants $4600000.00 and that me says you recognize now we recognize right all of us that what we're seeing in Baltimore City isn't going to stay in Baltimore City rather it's quarrying to make its way into the counties it has made its way into the counties right now it seems like it's mostly in Baltimore County but I'm telling you as an internal County resident myself it's headed in around the county those in the Brooklyn Park area can tell you it's been headed to and around the county Howard County all the other surrounding jurisdictions that might be tempted to say oh you know Baltimore City is looking pretty rough guess I just won't go there for the weekend Well don't worry because soon enough you might not have to worry about going into the city to not deal with crime it will come out it will come out of the city it will affect other neighborhoods and I don't know if we have to get to a point where it's in our own backyard before we recognize this is a problem it is an all hands on deck urgency immediacy required right now and if you don't get that sense from the elected officials in Baltimore City then perhaps it's charge it's time to change those elected officials. All right let's take a call real fast let's take a. Brooklyn Park Remy you're the 3rd person named Randy that I think I've run into you this week what are your thoughts are there not many others out there. Why on the end I have a. Difference right there. Listening to what's going on as far as the conversation with regards to more than that he has and what's what's going on with it what's not going to turn around any time soon but when we got this mayor you know. He went out to Detroit spent a week out there came back and ran you know that's what we hear a lot about you know a lot of legislation but it's basically run Rick just gets made over and over yet my question here and I don't know if anybody else even brought this up but taking a page from what Detroit and putting the city council the mayor's office the police department putting the city you know receivership. And then possibly even having to bring in the National Guard to curb the violence that we're dealing with you know. Even sort of on the radar or we just going to keep things. Pretty much much Yeah and thanks for the call Remy and thanks for listening and look you know that is something that at least we brought up on these airways I know between myself for in the audience we have been talking about receivership I know Brett Hollander did I think he did a whole episode once on the comparisons between I want to say Detroit and Baltimore City in the sense of the receivership and yes we have been talking about it because I think regular folks like us recognize that what we're doing right now in Baltimore City is not working for one it's going outside of the city and 2 it is not working to make people safer what we have right now is this strong mayor system is ripe for corruption as we have seen time and time in candidate after candidate we've seen it time and time again and so what's the answer oh just put in a new strong mayor and hope that this person doesn't do the same bad deeds as the last person or just not bad at all Oh that's ridiculous and what Remy is saying I think makes a lot more sense than just the old rinse and repeat idea because what we need right now are drastic measures once we start recognizing that hey this is disaster level crime we cannot sustain this is we just can't sustain this once we recognize that and maybe we'll be ready to make these kinds of drastic changes as Remy is bringing But coming up we're going to switch topics. We're going to talk about that Army Navy game not the score I will tell you my husband was disappointed but you know there's that. But it's not the score that's causing problems it's a hand gesture that was seeing some some of the cadets were making a hand gesture behind the media per. And they have now been accused of racism as a racist symbol Well we're going to discuss what that means and if maybe we're jumping the gun here in just a little more in a moment to tell it to a news update on television the any other news radio 10000 and Greater Baltimore and Afghan 101.5. You know I love getting your e-mails and your text messages especially the ones that ask me why I haven't talked about certain topics it was one that I got earlier about why I haven't talked about Mayer. But names get Nelson because there's been so many different mayors they're young about Mayor Young and the issue of his taxes and his house well I will definitely get to that don't you worry letting it simmer for a 2nd you know there are a lot of questions a lot of what is so sometimes you just let stories simmer for a 2nd and that's what I was doing with the Army Navy game so I got some e-mails about those well I mean you talked about this well 1st of all my husband was recovering from the score army so it was not a very pleased with that score but. This was this. Struck me as one of those stories kind of like number San Sandmen who is the young man from coming to high school who was a Q's. All sorts of things racism and. Just generally being a jerk last year during a March for life. Gathering I guess when he was approached by a Native American drummer and member he had this mark on his face and everybody just oh my God this guy this kid he's clearly a white rate of white supremacist in a racist and then as it happened we didn't see the whole video and as it turns out Oh that was not even nearly the story there was so much more but too late in damages done this kid is now Ray labeled a racist and so I've been waiting on this story for just a just a couple days to see what would come out of it and I think now is a good time to talk about it so the Baltimore Sun had in interesting editorial. About this issue and basically what they're imploring is you know we need to investigate this they start off by thing we certainly hope that the hand symbol displayed by some students from the u.s. Naval and West Point Military Academies during the Army Navy football game in Philadelphia on Saturday was nothing more than a juvenile just or the so-called circle game and they go on it later say but we don't know you're right all the more senatorial we don't know which is why we probably shouldn't be labeling them or jumping to conclusions so here's the big issue if you don't if you don't know what this is during the game they were there was an announcer who was speaking so the camera was on him and behind him were some cadets and some of them were clearly joking around behind him and then you see a hand gesture at the corner of t.v. It's Ok symbol Well a lot of people see that as the Ok symbol but apparently some internet trolls back in 2017 tried to make it a white supremacist hand gesture which is actually pretty difficult considering most people I'd say see that as Ok it is the literally the Ok hand gesture and so there's been this controversy any time you have seen it now in public as to whether or not these people are racist are they actually trying to show some white supremacy message here or what exactly are they doing and the Baltimore Sun is saying look you know we got a best again right this is when the gesture was made many didn't see it as innocent as something that was innocent they saw white supremacy All right let me ask them why did you see white supremacy here what is it about this that made you see white supremacy so I went back to the a.d.l. The Anti-Defamation League right because they have labeled this Ok hand gesture as a symbol of hate but they also say the overwhelming usage of the Ok hand gesture today is still is tradition. On purpose as a gesture signifying assent or approval Ok so you in the a.t.l. Is telling you generally it's still seen as just a symbol saying Ok like you're consenting or agreeing with something as a result this is per the a.d.l. Inside Defamation League as a result someone who uses the symbol cannot be assumed to be using the symbol in either a trolling or especially white supremacist context unless unless other contextual evidence exists to support the can text contention. One of the time you hear this is the a.d.l. The Anti-Defamation League that's telling you that you cannot assume that it is simply a racist hand gesture unless there are other context clues to tell you otherwise All right so let's just use the a.t.o. Definition let's take a look at what happened it's our money game if you look at the video the cadets behind the announcer are clearly joking around at $1.00 of them holds up a flag and they're clearly joking around and they use this hand gesture Well many people have said it could be them just saying the Ok hand gesture or it could be them playing this game but I seem to be the only one in the studio that recognize this game but. I remember this game from middle school I did not partake in this I was not one to go around punching people in the arm but I do remember a period in middle school when the guys actually. Went all the way into high school where the guys would play this game where they would make a circle with their finger and their index and their index finger and anybody who saw the finger they hit the circle but you could punch them this is only a game that middle school boys would ever come up with but my God was popular and so that's what the argument is that well I think these kids were playing that stupid game which is actually pretty popular and I actually remember my brothers playing that game and they tried to enlist my sisters and me and I did not go well I'm not playing your stupid game but what I'm saying is even the a.d.l. Is telling you it's not necessarily a racist hand gesture So what exactly is the context clues here and telling you if you want to know if it's a racist hand gestures look around see what else might lead you to think that well it's interesting that Montel Williams remember him last time you heard of Montel Williams former t.v. Host he's actually defending the West Point and maybe students that made the Ok hand gesture you know why he's actually a u.s. Naval Acad. The graduate Yeah I don't know that I think he was 1st enlisted and then went into the Naval Academy later and he had this to say about this this hand gesture both Westpoint in Annapolis are investigating and it strikes me as defamatory that some in the media have branded these young people as racist without a shred of evidence thank you Montel Williams I agree with you there isn't a big fan of your show but I completely agree with you here some in the media have branded these people as racist without a shred of evidence that's what happened to Nick Sandmen in the us earlier this year January of this year during the March for Life when immediately you see a little snippet of something a little snippet of a video never mind that there's tons of footage showing otherwise but once the media gets a hold of you once the media starts accusing you of racism or even starts implying racism you don't have to be accused out right as being a racist by c.n.n. Or some other media outlet for them to put or nothe context out there enough of a suggestion out there that you may as well be branded but he goes on to say I understand that a handful of racist perhaps living in their pace in their parents' basements attempted to co-opt the Ok symbol as Ok sign as a symbol of white power that is not evidence that these kids were motivated by race as animus. Making so much sense so some people probably in their parents' basement trying to make the Ok symbol into a racist symbol and just that in and of itself is not enough to say that these naval that these Army and Navy cadets are using this as a racist symbol then he says this until the investigation is complete we should all pas and realize that branding someone a racist is an indictment of their soul. Exactly right everybody PAs for just a 2nd whether it's Nick salmon whether it's these cadets or anyone else Paz for a 2nd as you said until the investigation is complete we should all pas and realize that branding someone a racist is an indictment of their soul we owe these young people who had the courage to sign up to be part of the one percent who defend this democracy better than this you are absolutely right Montel Williams and he this and I'm not sure there's any other way to put this in a better way to put this when you call someone a racist without hardly any evidence of that in a hand gesture that is still widely accepted even by the a.d.l. As nothing more than just about 9 gestures saying Ok or a more I guess worst level the punch you game which is ridiculous in middle school but has been popular but no more evidence than that you're going to call them a racist it's an indictment of their soul I think he's absolutely correct in this and we owe these young people who had the courage to sign up to be a part of the one percent to defend our democracy better than this he is absolutely right but even further than that as the Baltimore sends its Baltimore Sun says. You've got to investigate we don't know what this is no you're right we don't know what it is and how do they in their article and if it turns out that this is a case of boys being boys by embracing in a noxious game on camera then the officers in training deserve to be cleared of the racist charges which could otherwise brand them for life here's what you're missing Baltimore Sun editorial once you branded them racist it's not something that simply comes arc you don't just get to wipe it off like Nixon meant the coming to the high school student at the March for rally life in January of this year being called a racist is not something that you just get to wipe off right like oh well we were wrong sorry about that you know no harm no foul Oh yes there is because I think Montel Williams is right on this it's an indictment of a person's soul it's something that sticks with you and what is done on national t.v. As we are seeing right now with these cadets you know could just wipe it off it's not something that you can just clear them up and I think we'd all do well to remember that. One o 1.5 Welcome back and I'm joined now by Bill Vanko or some interesting is that we have some breaking news on the impeachment front as we've been reporting all day the House Rules Committee right now working on those rules that will govern the full House debate on impeachment tomorrow but in the meantime the president has sent a letter to Nancy Pelosi 6 page letter asking her to stop the impeachment process which he calls among other things an attempted coup preposterous and dangerous and unprecedented and an unconstitutional abuse of power the president talking just a few. It's a go about the whole impeachment thing at the White House he did not address the letter but reporters did want to know if he would be watching the House debate when it starts tomorrow are you going to receive the money I want to have it I've not seen it look it's a hoax the whole impeachment thing is a hoax we look forward to getting on to the Senate we're not entitled to lawyers we're not entitled to witnesses we're not entitled to anything in the house it's a total sham when you have a guy like shifty shift go out and make up a statement that I made she he said this is what he said but I never said it he totally made it up in Guatemala they handle things much more different much tougher than that and because of immunity has house immunity because of immunity he can't be prosecuted he took a statement it totally made it out it was a lie it was a fraud and he just can't do those things so you know look this is been a a total sham from the beginning everybody knows it I've never seen the Republican Party so united we've got a party less but as you know we're going to 100 percent of them out and I believe the Senate is equally as well united I watch Mitch McConnell this morning I watched numerous people last night as senators and I think we're equally was united they know it's a hoax it's a witch hunt and it's just a continuation it's been going on now for almost 3 years and it probably started before even won the election based on what we're finding out with the insurance policy quotes and other things so it's a disgrace Yes. Yes. And we'll also have to decide on when we're taking a vote for the u.s. Embassy a very big a very important you know very very important deal with Mexico Canada ourselves and we're going have to decide whether or not that comes 1st or 2nd to me I'd let the Senate side of the. Responsibility for the fact that. No I don't take any and 0 or to put it mildly. They took a perfect phone call that I had with the president of Ukraine an absolutely perfect call you know they all know and nothing was said wrong in that call to impeach the president of the United States for that his interest grace and it's a mark of our country I'll tell you what other presidents in the in the future unless they do something about this other presidents are going to have to live with this and every time they do something that's a little bit unpopular a little bit strong even if they're 100 percent right because I've done a great job when you look at the kind of jobs we've created when you look at the economy that we've created when you look at rebuilding the military taking care of the vets you just take a look at what we've done with choice veterans choice with accountability in the vets with what we've done to protect our 2nd Amendment and so many of the things nobody has done as much as I've done in the 1st 3 years thank you all very much. That was the president at the White House just a little while ago in anticipation of tomorrow's impeachment debate that will start in the House but again the other headline from this afternoon is probably this 6 page letter the president has written to Nancy Pelosi asking her to call the whole thing off in part he says this is nothing more than an illegal partisan attempted coup that will based on recent sentiment badly fail at the voting booth you are not just after me as president you are after the entire Republican Party the president says history will judge you with harshly as you proceed with this impeachment charade that is the president's 6 page letter to Nancy Pelosi will immoral now throughout the afternoon including in 10 minutes with a.b.c. Where does this young man go to get his reputation back I doubt the media outlets making this a race issue will be equally as vocal with their apologies Somehow I doubt it and the media wonders why their approval rating is lower than Congress it was from a text message that I received earlier as we're talking about this hand gesture that was shown join the Army Navy game and whether or not this is a racist gesture as Montel Williams said in defense of these young men. We don't know what that was there are many explanations for it and even the Anti-Defamation League the a.d.l. Tells us in their own in their own way that you know the actually the Ok hand gesture the overwhelming usage of the Ok hand gesture is still its traditional purpose just signifying assent basically saying Ok now as a result someone who uses the symbol cannot be assumed to be using the symbol in either a trolling or especially white supremacist context unless their contractual evidence exists to support that can. Attention But we forget that and I think with this texture the point that they brought up here where does this young man go to get his reputation back it doesn't there's nowhere for him to go not going to get his reputation back once you smear someone's reputation like that on the national stage Mind you you don't get it back and there are a lot of alternative explanations for what that hand gesture could have been yes a very minor one could be that it was a racist hand gesture but then you got to wonder let's look at the context you're talking about. Army Navy cadets military to deaths and as Montel Williams said in his statement until the investigation is complete we should all pas and realize that branding someone a racist is an indictment of their soul we owe these young people who had the courage to sign up to be part of the one percent who defend this democracy better than this but I take it even a step further for whatever reason in this country we have forgotten the gravity of accusations when we simply accuse somebody of being racist or being sexist or whatever other term you want to assign to them we have failed to recognize that you don't just get to throw that term out at somebody and then walk away and then by the way is the Baltimore Sun editorial finishes out and if it turns out that this is a case of boys being boys by embracing it of noxious game on camera then the off that there's the officers in training deserve to be cleared of the racism charges which would otherwise brand them for life yeah because they're recognizing that it will brand you for life but here's the thing you can't just clear somebody of these kinds of allegations simply by saying Oh well I said you were just playing a harmless game or you were just making it Ok hand gesture we have forgotten that in this society the gravity of our accusations and folks we have to remember it we can't remember it for our ordinary members for everyone else like you and me at least that one percent Montel Williams said that one percent who signed up to defend this democracy we owe them better than this.
