Fred Hollander 70 of the am using radio 1090 minutes now in greater bouts more than one on one point I. Am welcome to it thanks for being with us here on the browner show on this Friday perfect Friday Ravan 2nd on the bang goes on Sunday Our coverage begins of Bobbie trusted at 9 I'll be we keep them Bobby at 10 Jerry Sandusky Jerry Johnson with the call of the 16 to 1st place Ravens and to win this Cincinnati Bengals more on that a little later a couple of things I want to get into right now and we're talking about what's been happening in Baltimore and this one party monopoly and what becomes of it and how we got here and it really plays into local elections and statewide elections and we've been looking at other models cities that are turning around cities are doing it right cities that are struggling where we should gravitate towards and where we should run away from and we've spent a lot of time looking at the curious case of Seattle Washington truly and this is nothing new but a very liberal city but liberalism is morphed into something else over the last decade it's morphed into this progressive socialist movement and a couple weeks ago what happened well Jeff Bezos and his and his empire there wanted to get involved and we had on the case a rancher who's a talk show host in Seattle you know after drive a k. T. Th in Seattle he's been following it it's a really weird system there they have essentially a mail in election and it takes several days to sort out but they finally have some clarity and really what this is about it's exactly what we're experiencing here and why it's so hard to have any sort of change had to morph it in any way to turn this thing around in any way you see what you're up against when these cities have this one party monopoly there's almost no way out because inevitably only gets worse and more people dependent on this set up well more in this coming up but I do want to catch up with Jason rants. Well we've been talking about this for a few weeks and we're looking for different models and templates that are out there that we can look at here in Baltimore and try and make us a little more modern how we do business to make us more pro-business Well we've been looking closely at Seattle Washington and the election fight they've been in for the last few weeks the tug of war between the business community there and the socialist community there and that Jeff Bezos of Amazon poured a lot of money in much to the chagrin of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren to try and get a little more moderation in their city council the question is did it work joining us right now 3 to 6 Seattle talk show host Jason ranch from k t t h is with us right now Jason thank you so much for coming on again so did it work for Amazon. No quite the opposite it backfired This is Seattle City Council left something dramatic happens in the next 24 hours is likely to be force and more socialist than it was before so just to go through some of these numbers the big one everyone here and across the country frankly has been looking at is Shamus I want who is the big socialist on this council she's the one who is very openly socialist she has basically had Socialist Alternative run her actual office they decide how she votes they decide how she staffs now going into the election on Tuesday the 1st dump of results came and it showed her opponent who's still very much a progressive and far to the left but is not anti Amazon in fact he was backed by Amazon he was in the lead by 8 points and everyone noted you know it's jealous I want late voters have a tendency to go in her direction but I don't know you're going to make up 8 points that seems to be incredible for you to do and then lo and behold a couple days later she's within 2 and a half points he's within striking distance and we have word that her particular district still has 13000 votes still to be cast so this last dump that came. Yesterday she got 55 percent of the vote if she does that again coming up she is almost certainly going to become reelected so that would be a huge blow to Amazon right now Amazon only had one the candidate who they that will will want to have candidates who they backed who actually. Ended up winning the other one was an incumbent they really don't like her but they have to go ahead and pick her so it's a little bit too in the weeds for the scum versation But right now as of now everyone seems to assume that someone is going to end up becoming reelected and not a good look for Seattle Council here's my question did the national attention from Bezos on this David kind of get people off the couch to make sure they turn out to vote in the I don't want to say hippie as progressive socialist world of Seattle but did it kind of say hey you know maybe we should pay attention to this just to make sure that big business doesn't get their victory. Yeah that's what it appears to be we don't have exit polls that can very clearly you know determine that but that's been the narrative I mean that's why what we see this kind of in the flux of vote at the last minute for Salwan and Elisa Herbold in West Seattle that's that's an air of go again I'm not sure I completely buy that I still think we just generally have a very far to the left base of voters and you know it's a relatively low turnout election it's and off presidential election and just like the rest of the country they vote their orders tend to stay home period although in this case I mean you have to be especially lazy because it's all Mel and mail in ballots that I was mail about so that you don't have to go anywhere everything in Washington State is done by the mail so it's just it's it's disappointing and maddening though at the same time outside of Seattle we've seen some very good results from a conservative perspective or even from a moderate perspective of outside of Seattle the results have been pretty favorable to to our side we're talking with Jason rants from k.t. Th in Seattle Washington 3 to 6 afternoon drive host they're talking about the Seattle election results aren't show a Bezos and big business and Seattle's fortune as we talked about a few weeks ago they have a lot going for you in Seattle you have a great tourism industry you have you know you have great ballparks you have all these Fortune 500 companies of Amazon right there in Seattle it's hard to screw it up somehow the Seattle politicians are finding a way so from a business standpoint are they going to find a way out I mean Amazon is such a stranglehold on the area they've created the area in many ways could they find an exit strategy. They could and I don't know if we'll see an total exit strategy I mean no business the size of Amazon wants to completely up and go even in an in the hospital environment but will be seen in the past and certainly over the course the last several months there have been some really big announcements that they're moving thousands of jobs into the city of Bellevue which is 10 minutes east of Seattle it's over the water it's across the bridge and that's where they've been developing and at the same time you're seeing more business friendly council members either stay in power or get elected in the Bellevue city council and you can very clearly connect the dots I mean they decided to halt a major project in the Seattle area they decided to get out of what would have been the biggest rental space for one individual company in Seattle history they're moving those jobs to Bellevue now do they ultimately start to move more and more and more of the preexisting jobs that already exist in Seattle to Bellevue I don't know but they certainly shown that they're willing to do that certainly in sort of smaller bouts I expect that we're going to see more of that I don't think we're going to see this large exodus immediately but you know they put a 1000000 have dollars into this election for voters to say yet we're not that into you so at some point they may just decide you know they're just not that into us here we can just move across the bridge and we'll be happy of their nature is amazing and going back to the most obvious and well known socialist in that area who's kind of become a Kweisi national figure so watch I mean she's farther to the left than Halo c.m.e. Read she's really really out there correct yes she is very she's crazy and she's now not anti-semite correct. She is she's an anti-Semite this is something that I've been as a Jew I've been covering this pretty extensively I mean she buys into some very vicious stereotypes about Jews she supports the b.d.s. Movement she refused in an interview I did with her to call Hamas a terrorist organization on and just yeah I know it's absolutely ridiculous in the last few months she hosted and this was taxpayer funded an event to screen an anti-Semitic documentary accusing Israel of pink washing which is the their theory is that Israel pretends to be in favor of l.g.b. T.q. Rights as a way to mask all of the human rights violations against Hamas terrorists but they're not terrorists or freedom fighters the folks like for Thomas I want she she yes she's a vicious anti-semite and she just a bad person she's a villain virulently anti-gay op she calls Seattle police officers bigots and murderers in cases where they've been cleared of any wrongdoing not just internally but by and by you know juries so she's not a good person to say the least well one day I can say is I feel a little bit better a little better about where I live than where you live right now Jason ranch we get how I feel worse Jason we always appreciate a great insight into the the insanity that is American politics right now we appreciate it thank you thanks for having me. And that is Jason rants from Katie t.-h. In Seattle and it goes exactly with what we are talking about in the 1st part of the program and if you have a desire to turn around your city and I'm not even talking about flipping parties we're even getting Republicans elected into city council seats in Baltimore or San Francisco or Seattle that's a pretty big leap at this point I mean we're talking about almost 100 years in Baltimore when it comes to having a Republican in the city council 60 or so years for mayor and I'm talking about moderation I'm talking about some semblance of a pro-business climate and what happens is and we're going to talk about this some more coming up as these progressive socialist takeovers happen city by city county by county jurisdiction by jurisdiction it's not a real representation of the electorate of the people it's not. Like it's a tsunami because it goes along with what we're talking about when it comes to local media and people feel there's no hope they're apathetic and then what ends up happening in the case of Seattle Amazon will start moving to Bellevue 10 miles out of town other Fortune $500.00 companies there oh they're small and medium sized businesses not to happen overnight but they'll start leaving and the jobs the taxpayers start leaving so the situation inherently gets worse you combine that with these ideologues states' attorneys and district attorneys what happens that will crime goes up and what you end up getting is an electorate that is more dependent on government than ever before not less dependent more dependent it's the greatest trick ever when it comes to essentially guaranteeing this monopoly to exist for all time more people go more taxpayers go more businesses go more jobs go crime goes up what are people going to do who are left they're incredibly dependent on government at that point there's no way out. It's really politics it's brilliant politics and as we've pointed out before when you add in the media they make you feel that your views are so out of the mainstream you may as not you may not even bother showing up on Election Day That's how they make you feel when actuality you probably agree with more people and it's your representatives who are really out of the mainstream but that's who turns out in primaries so in the end it goes back to show up and voting and caring and following 841-0467 w.p.a. 041-0467 w.b. I'll text the program 410-467-9225 more on base those play in Seattle back firing right now on this Friday John Murray from u.b.s. There at am 10 o 8 and a Greater Baltimore one o 1.5. There George servo joining us at 530 to talk about what we learned this week in some national politics will get a little coming up including Michael Bloomberg jumping in this race it looks like. There was a dip in his toes in the blue blue primary waters we'll talk about that coming up and we've got more to get into on this busy purple Friday but but but but but we were talking about what happened Seattle and even Jeff Bezos couldn't flip those sheets in fact. The moderate wing of the Democratic Party in Seattle lost ground they lost ground more socialist more progressive more anti semites got more power it didn't work it backfired now what Warren and sanders and the mainstreamers won't tell you is it wasn't like the the socialist wing wasn't back financially they were back more so by labor unions Ok That money's good. Corporate money bad we've established that on this program and we talk about that here locally all the time here's the thing I'm not even sure how money in think about this in Baltimore City or Baltimore County it helps you want a campaign put Does it really matter I mean it's really about what your issues are who turns out to vote and name recognition and yeah money matters a little bit but Jeff Bezos couldn't come close to buying these races and he wasn't looking to get a conservative in there it wasn't looking to get ultra capitalist in there he just didn't want to socialist it's really not a tall ask but this is the problem this is the problem in towns like Baltimore and Seattle and Portland and San Francisco Emer looking at this happen in California and York City and New Jersey and Connecticut right now people are fleeing the moderate voters the moderate to conservative voters are fleeing these areas so what is left well what happens is these one party monopolies are very smart they they keep pushing further and further and further to the left in this case but you could say the same thing about unsuccessful towns in the south which are one party and the Republicans the results are really the same but in this case you're looking at major cities and this impacts these gigantic suburban communities around these cities we're talking about millions of millions of people this is not rural America here Ok so what you have is a couple of things you get the one point monopoly that's firmly entrenched and in place very hard to unseat none possible but until the electorate wakes up and gets off and get off their couch in or stand once the stakes are and understands the power and the importance of a local or state wide Alexion there will never be real change and to as long as we're stuck here in Baltimore 15 percent turnout there will never be real change turnout was low in Seattle and they send you the ballot in the mail go figure that one out. The stakes are America itself social mobility individual ism everything the stakes couldn't be higher and they still couldn't turn it and the reason is pretty simple the socialist come in they drive business out of course the ideology starts infiltrating Law Enforcement crime they local In our case state's attorney or district attorney we're seeing this New York City right now we're seeing this in Philadelphia crime goes up people leave what is left what's left without those jobs and crime up is a totally dependent class and at that point their only choice through also their failed school system is to vote for statism and continue their dependence on government and then when you factor in the media it's like what we're talking about 10 consecutive days of articles that are anti law enforcement or editorials in The Baltimore Sun that are anti law enforcement sensually every day pounding the same message it makes people feel who are in the political minority that you have no chance no one agrees with you there's really no point to even show up just forget about it leave town they're happy with you leaving town these are the same group this is same group of people that actually want to build a wall around Baltimore they don't want you they don't want you so it's up to the electorate to get the message that you have a voice your vote matters they've been trying to tell you that everyone disagrees with you on everything it's not true it's not true about the police force it's not true about the surveillance plane it's not true about taxes it is not true but they feel if they can just keep pounding that message you will be so apathetic you will actually just give up you will give up. And then the reality is we know this to be true that we've seen this nationally right now when it comes to primary voters this is been true for a long time only the biggest diehards get interested in primaries and who are the dialers there are people in the polls both for Republicans and Democrats and in a one party monopoly that's incredibly dangerous especially in a pluralistic system like the city council races both in Baltimore and Seattle it's incredibly dangerous there's no general election blockade in a one party system so you get 10 candidates one is more out there the next who votes for or who turns out to vote the people who are the most out there and that's who gets elected and that's who dictates our politics in city hall in Annapolis it's really not that hard to figure out these people who represent us in City Hall and the people represented in Annapolis they're not pure representation of us they drive that discussion they want to tell you they are a representation of us but they're not and the only people to blame are really the voters and selves and I hate to break it to you and the truth is I could go around this building right now and ask people who their local delegate and state senator are and they probably don't know it that's the reality of it and that's true of Maryland and that's true in Washington and that's true in probably most states in our union and it's hard to tell people to care about something I don't regret you for not were busy people and I do believe that people who are slightly less engaged I'm not saying not engaged all I would never recommend that as a lifestyle but slightly less engaged and not obsessed or a happier bunch especially compared to those who suffer from George Papadopoulos syndrome it's a very bad illness you don't want to be there. And you're not obsessed you have a life you have a social life you spent time your family you have friends you're good at work that's what's really important but what's lost and what the people who are beating you are the ones who are coming out to vote in these primaries when the rest of us aren't paying attention and that is dominating politics especially locally but you can say statewide and nationally right now the people who are showing up in these primaries in the end nationally speaking general elections are decided in swing states and independent voters but locally in a one party state or in a one party city it only matters who showing up in primaries and who's showing up in primaries in Baltimore City or in Seattle Washington it's die hard progressive in socialists it's a losing strategy for your city and for your jurisdiction and until the rest of us wake up and actually get to the polls we have no voice and we really can't complain till we actually do that but listen 15 percent turnout in the last mayor's race that's pathetic That's pathetic I know people have higher aspirations for Baltimore and Maryland I know people don't want to go down the windy path of socialism I know people want to pro business climate and they want law enforcement and they want to be tough on crime so right now we've been overrun like in Seattle it looks like Swat who is the she calls herself a radical socialist fizzling by a couple 100 votes we see that all the time here it's not a big margin but it's really hard to flip once it's established because it drives out jobs in business it drives out. The taxpayers' crime goes up what he left with the dependent class 410467 w b i l 410467 w b a l text of program 410-467-9225 it's just like the story I was telling yesterday in Tucson Arizona it happened New Jersey to these 2 blue areas they vote against causes when it comes to being a sanctuary city and state and a welcoming city and state that is totally the opposite of what the ruling class tells you they think it's because the representation is not mirroring the thoughts of people and on balance these issues are fairly moderate to conservative but the brand is bad right now and it's really hard to get people to be engaged for 10467 w b i l as we continue on the ballot or show. News Radio 1098 have fed 101.5 for a couple of texts to read this one says Baltimore may want to build a wall but I guarantee they will make sure the mail slot for all of your money. Is nice and open Isn't that the truth this one says Why do people register as independents they're just throwing their opportunity to vote in primaries a way good point and there's a part of it though it's like trying to get people registered Republicans in Baltimore City. And sometimes it's nice to be on an island in opposition but it also feels pointless because you get no say and I've heard this from so many people I'm a Republican I'm a I'm more leaning that way but what's the point I want to say in the big races so it's like throwing your vote away you don't get a say in the primaries and once a one party system has been established it's very hard to create balance and a 2 party system and to create any checks on it and it's really backed up by the state as well I want to play some audio here Ben Shapiro we touched on every once in a while there was a. Very gifted orator he is very popular in conservative circles he is not afraid to go to college campuses he faces protests a lot I was reading earlier that he has more white supremacist death threats against him than pretty much anyone else right now says the f.b.i. So he's not afraid I know security is a big part of his his life but he's somewhat the gigantic social following he has a gigantic podcast and is really a writer by trade but he's not afraid to step in and he's not afraid to go there for whatever reason and I think I know why I really diehard progressives have labeled him the worst human being in the world they often call him a white supremacist and a Nazi and in his case it may fit for people who are really on the fringes and I would say if it was true in his case it really doesn't add up it really does it and most people I think protest him don't even know what he's ever said that you could define as truly bigoted certainly difference in opinion certainly He's very opinionated but I mean. Someone who is it a Nazi someone is a right wing kook someone who's a fascist it's so funny the people who call the fascist when he shows up a college campus on college campuses there are the people who do not like counterpoints or other points of view on college campuses so who is the fascist that's really the question and this is earlier this week yesterday at Stanford University you know a bastion for liberalism and liberalism in reality is a free flowing ideas and discourse Well done this world Ben Shapiro starts bashing Naziism he would think they pretty much let's all get on board with that kind of point well here's what happened. And question. It's Ok I. Have one question are you protesting the power in condemning the Nazis. Thank you here I'm doing right now you have yours. I'm really condemning Nazis and you're telling me to leave so you hear yourself. I gotta be honest in the I'm I'm extraordinarily puzzled I'm standing up here bashing out of Nazis and then telling me I have to leave over it. Was a guy got to do it as Ben Shapiro at Stanford University it is interesting the people who claim to be all about. Diversity diversity of thought diversity of ideas they tend not to like it if you don't agree with them by the way speaking or the Nazis you know weird segue here new Netflix stock popped up on my. And they certainly could and they didn't have an answer for any of it and so I don't know that anybody can completely shut it down I think you'll have games all of them are might not play it well. But you can always rely on that run game there's so many different ways they run the football and attack you in the ground game and I just think it's going to be really tough to completely shut it down and if you do find a way to shut down a bulk of that run game Lamar's proven he can beat you with his arm. To the point that you know he can still be effective moving the ball and so I don't see anybody really completely shutting it down but you never know I thought that New England would kind of hand other teams the flu print potentially how to slow down that and how to get a little more but they look at last as anybody trying to stop him and so I don't know that we really learned a whole lot from what they tried to do against him you can hear the interview in its entirety on today's show podcast We'll come back we'll talk to national politics next.
