Were following breaking overnight news from Virginia Beach. Police dispatchers say officers caught whoever robbed a 711. It happened just before 1 00 at the store on holland road near the chimney hill shopping center. No one was hurt. Police say the robber got away with cash and food. Detectives have not said who the suspect is or what charges that person is facing. Hundreds of workers will walk through the gates at Newport News Shipbuilding for the last time today. Thirtyminutes ago, we first told you more than 700 workers are losing their jobs at the company because of a decrease in workload at the shipyard heres the thing, the cuts arent over just yet. Rico bush is outside the shipyard to explain whats ahead for several hundred more employees not on the chopping block this time around. Rico katie, don, this isnt easy to say, but a third round of cuts are coming the company says it will hand out pink slips to even more employees this year. However, the shipyard mentioned it is too early to know how many people will be impacted and when they will make the cuts. This is in addition to than 7hundred 30 hourly and eight salaried workers laidoff today. Since the company made the official announcement to reduce its workforce last year, it says it planned to get rid of 15hundred workers by the end of 2016. Its making good on its promise to eliminate some jobs. All the workers who are not coming back to work after today knew about the reductions. The company kept employees on the payroll for 60 days, but the layoffs have angered many people, including our elected officials. Sen. School officials dismissed all schools in the division before noon yesterday while they searched the buildings. The sheriff tells us, deputies searched the buildings, and called in bomb sniffing dogs to double check. They didnt find anything to support the threat.
