Thousands of dollars from a jewish temple in norfolk wont serve jail time. This morning Leslie Bradner pleaded guilty to stealing from her former employer. Bradner handled the finances for the temple. Only 10 on your side was in court this morning. Our jason marks was there and Jason Bradner took a lot of money. She pocketed more than 60 thousand dollars. She left the job and months later an outside auditor discovered the missing funds. The big question tonight is why she took it. under video 03 23 48 41 its sad situation for both the temple and for leslie and her family that situation has come to an end. A 16 old employee of Temple Israel a woman the congregation considered to one of its own admitted today in court she stole more than 60 thousand dollars. 02 23 47 15 it couldnt be anyone else. She was in charged off all the money and writing the checks Leslie Bradner worked at the temple for almost two decades. She suddenly left in september 2014. Staff noticed there were some that were paid late and others not paid at all. An outside auditor looked into the synagogues books and discovered the missing money. 02 23 46 51 we are glad that it is over because we trusted the lady the stealing started in 2001 and ended when she resigned. Brandner pleaded guilty to the crime today. The one thing we will never know is why she took the money. 03 23 49 06 we are not going to address that its done. Its over and i think i think people are just trying to move on at this point branders attorney did tell the judge she is seeing a Mental Health specialist. Since this was her first dealing with the law the judge decided to not give her any jail time. As for the money it has already been paid back by bradners father. Temple members say it was like a punch in the gut but they are glad its over. 02 23 47 03 she was a member of the temple family and this is a real real tragedy for not only for the temple but her and her family bradner was given 4 years in prison but the judge time as long as she doesnt get into trouble for the next 5 years.
