A developing story out of manhattan with three construction workers being treated after exposure to fumes from some sort of liquid at the site of a future hotel on eighth avenue and west 64th street in midtown. The victims were working in an unventilated room when they started breathing in the fumes from the liquid they were using. It was described as giving off a toxic smell. One worker was given oxygen and transported to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition. The other two workers are being evaluated. A volunteer wrestling coach victims into sex acts. Parents came forward and reported him. Police believe there may be more victims out there. Reporter a volunteer wrestling coach who had a lot of access to a lot of children. The concern is that this suspect could have had access to kids in this could be a very big situation for them. We feel that if you had been in contact with the suspect or your children had been coached by this suspect, but you have a discussion or a talk with your child to ensure that your child had not been a victim as well and god forbid if that is the case, please come forward to the police. The administration for Child Services opens the case last week on the family. Police say lela aquino left her young daughter at home and she went to work as an exotic dancer and returned nearly 3 hours after the fire broke out. Bed. The woman says she left the child with a babysitter but the babysitter says she no longer looked after the girl after a dispute about money. Meanwhile, a babysitter a babysitter with a criminal record faces charges of murder and other charges in the death of a toddler. Gloria field is being arraigned in Staten Island. An autopsy revealed 16month old Anthony Delgado died of Blunt Force Trauma to his head and body. His mother had left him with fields over the weekend. We heard from one of the latest slashing victims in new york city who is recovering from his frightening attack. A deli owner from the bronx was cut in the face and the suspect responsible is still on the loose. Darla miles is in the bronx with more. Reporter this slashing happened about two weeks ago but the nypd just released video of the suspect overnight. The team suspect ended up he takes a knife. Reporter in this case, the store owner believes the suspect was scam him out of money when he asked for change but police say most flashings arent random. 567 flashings and stabbings this year versus 470 last year, its a cause for deep concern. A little over 20 increase. Reporter and of those increased flashings, the nypd says 68 of them took place in the bronx. Most of these things are born out of arguments in the street. All during the overnight and a lot of them have to do with alcohol. Reporter there have been 567 flashings so far this year but the nypd says only 70 of them are considered truly random. I will explain tonight at 5 30 pm. Meanwhile, in brookland brooklyn, to other stabbing incidents. A homeless man stabbed another man on the i train in east williamsburg late last night. The victim went to the hospital with injuries to his neck and hand. Police later arrested miguel collado. Boy in the face last night on autumn avenue. Investigators say a woman distracted the victim and then a man attacked him from behind. The attackers did not run the victim and the motive at this point remains unclear. I dont think it was meant to be like offensive to anyone. I do think its not the smartest idea. Reporter administrators learned of the party through social media. The school says so far no one has been disciplined and it hasnt been able to substantiate claims some students were wearing black face nor was it a themed party. Nevertheless, an investigation is underway. It was disappointment. There was a little bit of shock and immediate action in terms of how can we make this a learning situation. And how can we turn this in to across the campus . Reporter Fairfield University is a Jesuit School with about 5,000 students. The vast majority, 78 are white. The controversy has brought the issue of diversity to the forefront. I feel that we should have more discussion because many times theres a gap between understanding. The Suffolk County Police Commissioner asked the fbi to help in this case. New york city Restaurant Owners who dont post salt warnings on their menus will face fines. That ruling from a judge today. Certain restaurants have to warn customers about foods that contain more than the top recommended daily limit of sodium which is about a teaspoon. The National Restaurant association attempts to block the rule that goes in to effect march 1st by suing. The judge ruled against the association meaning restaurants could be fined up to 600 if they dont post those warnings. A condom controversy brewing involves middle school students. The San Francisco school board has a proposal to give the students access to condoms without parents knowing about it. The district says 5 of middle schoolers are sexually active. Many parents are blasting the range in ages from 11 to 14. We have to sign a consent for them to go on a field trip but we dont need to know that theyre getting a condom . Theyre not ready for it. I dont think this is appropriate. School board says that condoms would only be available to students after a consultation with the school nurse. Good point about the signing the consent waiver to go on a field trip. Well begin with a common problem for many women and thats menopause. What im wondering is im in menopause and ive had the sweats and the hot flashes and all that for years but for the stand myself. Im wondering if theres anything i can do about it to save my relationships. It . Yeah, every woman is going to experience is different. Not everyone has the same experience. For some women, common hot flashes occur. And when they occur, they can occur for as long as 10 years. There are many things that women can try. There are a number of things including deep breathing exercises and meditation when theyre coming on. Drinking cold water or juice at the start of a hot flash. Sleeping in a cool room and turning the thermostat down. Then wearing layers. Breatheable fabric so when you have a hot flash you can take some layers off. Smoking has been found to be an issue as well. This issue of irritability is a real problem for many women. If youre trying these having success, see your gynecologist. Because hormonal therapy can be effective. Antidepressants can be effective for some women. But it has to be individualized because there are medical reasons so women cant take those products. If you end up taking hormonal therapy, you want to use as low dose as possible for a short period of time so you dont have the side effects. You really feel for people going through that. Definitely have to have an ongoing conversation. Exactly. You want to go back and forth to get something that works. And tweak. Youve got to tweak. This next question we have is from linda. Can you tell me if the carbonation in seltzer water ruins the enamel on your teeth . This question has me in a panic because i drink that all the time and i give it to my kids all the time. Panic . Yes, for ruining their enamel. Acidic things are damaging to our enamel. Enamel is the coating on our teeth. Acids are hard on that. You may have seen these experiments on tv where they take a tooth or a denture and put it in a thing of cocacola and the outside has dissolved. It depends how long the carbonation, the acid is exposed to your teeth. 15 to 60 minutes is what it takes to start to see damage to your teeth. And i recommend seltzer, you dont want to keep it in your mouth for an hour. You dont want to gargle with it. But if youre just drinking it, thats fine. Its a really Good Alternative to sugar sweetened beverages. I was going to say what do i do if my coworker is in a panic . But she seems to be okay. Heres a question about the flu. Reporter anne lapin is bonding with baby, a newborn who isnt her own, but for a short time, anne is taking care of this baby in her home. Midnight feedings. Doctors appointments. And plenty of comfort. The opportunity to help babies seemed so adorable and inviting. Reporter shes been an interim care provider for five years, caring for babies while her parents figure out a parenting or adoption plan. Ive parented 22. Reporter 19 newborns over the years while caring for her own three children. Just having people in the Community Care for children in the community makes a lot of sense. Reporter adam is the president of Spence Chapin. The Adoption Agency is looking to add volunteers, particularly on the upper east side. People who can care for a the time to consider their options. They might just need a day. They might need two days. They might need a couple weeks. In that period we council them we counsel them and have amazing volunteers step in. Prospective volunteers evaluation can take several months. That includes a background check, a home visit, and lots of interviews with the staff. Spence chapin is selective and applicants need to know this is an intense commitment. Parents can visit their child and the interim caregiver as much as they like and it turns out 65 of the women Spence Chapin counsels decides to parent their child. Either way, anne is happy she can be there when those parents and babies need the help. Also a wind advisory along the coast to include the lower Hudson Valley and connecticut. Winds are gusting to about 30 Miles Per Hour along the coast. This is just the beginning as we we had close to. 8 of an inch. Thankfully as weve led in to the evening commute, the rain has been more moderate and patchy. It definitely has been filling in over the past hour or so. Look whats going on in the south. As we go through this period of showers, all the thunderstorms and squall lines thats going to swing through the area with heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Heres what you need to know.
