Flames broke out at 10 last night at the home on diamond street. The fire quickly spread to two nearby homes. Four people were hurt but not seriously. 145 firefighters braved the brutal cold to douse the flames. Firefighters also battled heavy flames that tore through a vacant Apartment Building in the bronx. Fire broke out in the basement of a building on olmstead avenue and union port. Flames quickly spread to the roof of the threestory building. It took just about an hour or so for crews to contain the fire. Thankfully, though, no one was in this fire was hurt. A disgraced former new york governor Elliot Spitzer finds himself in the middle of a scandal, accused of assaulting a woman inside the famed plaza hotel. Police officers responded to a call from a 25yearold woman and saw blood and broken glass in spitzers room. Hospital, and detectives say she told him spitzer attacked her. If you can look directly down the scene where you can see lots of police activity, three different sections of police tape. There was a Police Involved shooting according to the nypd. A person was shot in the right arm, a gun was recovered and the person is likely to survive. No life threatening injuries at this point. We did see an ambulance leave about ten minutes ago carrying the suspect to the hospital, but right now, this is what we know from the nypd. A very active scene. No traffic going through as nypd investigates this Police Involved shooting. The officer is okay. The suspect who was shot is expected to be okay. The parents of the Little League players stripped of their world series championship say their children were exploited and now they have filed a lawsuit to get the title back. Darla miles spoke with police and has new details about what led to the violent confrontation. Were being told on background that possibly this suspect was under the influence of drugs and walking down the street waving a gun. This is right next to Forest Houses here in the morrisania section of the bronx on tinton avenue. I want to show you scene trucks that have arrived since i checked in with you at 4 30. When there is an officer involved shooting there are lots of steps and protocols that need to be followed to make sure all of the evidence is collected but at this point there are no lifethreatening injuries. Eyewitness news has obtained a picture of the gun recovered by the nypd, the gun is still on the ground, on the scene as police try to determine what kind of weapon that is. What we can tell you is around 3 30 this afternoon the suspect according to witnesses waving a gun in the air. There were witnesses walking down the street and they said they flagged down a patrol car saying look, theres a guy on the street waving a gun. At that point there were three officers in the patrol car. They stopped. They instructed the suspect to put his gun down. They did not follow that directive. At that point one or more nypd officer discharged their weapon. The suspect was shot in the right was then taken to Lincoln Hospital. At this point no lifethreatening injuries. It was not a crime in progress in terms of an assault or robbery but this was a person possibly under the influence of drugs walking down the street waving a gun. Some people saw something, they said something, they flagged down a patrol car. No time to call 911. Luckily there was a patrol car in the area and they were able to alert police of this person walking down the street with the gun. Hes been taken to Lincoln Hospital and no lifethreatening injuries.
