The mayor found himself in the uncomfortable position tonight of fending off questions about two Brooklyn Businessmen who contributed heavily to his campaign in 2013 and who are now under investigation for their ties to four nypd commanders. About doing things in a legal and appropriate manner. Were very, very careful about disclosing the support we get. Reporter some of that support came from these two men, jeremy reichburg on the left and jonah on the right, a pair of Brooklyn Businessmen now under investigation amid allegations of payoffs to police and possibly others. I met them around the time of the general election, had not known them previously, had spent very little time with them in the last year. Reporter investigators are combing through the mayors 2013 Campaign Records to see how money was solicited from the Brooklyn Business community and if any individuals benefited. Even as they look in to the actions of four nypd commanders from brooklyn south to see if they may have traded special treatment for cash or gifts. Additional action. Im considered a reformer for a reason. We want to stress that reichburg and recnits have not been charged with any crime. Theyre just under investigation at this point. Right now the fbi has joined this case with the nypd and theyre still here on the scene searching for clues, focusing not just on the bank branch but also on the business to the left of this bank as they try to figure out what really happened here. And they went to town on soft deposit boxes, stealing peoples most valuable possessions. And then they left. Nypd, chief gomez showed us plenty of examples, including dirt bikers wearing no helmets, driving recklessly in the south bronx, and large groups of bikes and atvs stopping traffic to perform stunts in washington heights. We do not want to chase these individuals through the streets. I believe that causes even a greater danger to motorists, pedestrians, and themselves. Weeks alone, the nypd has made 65 seizures and 12 arrests for driving recklessly. Police commissioner bill bratton says this year 312 atvs, motorcycles and motor bikes were seized. We have significant resources out every weekend looking to get these characters. And basically the individuals operating these bikes, these knuckleheads if you will, its all about them showing off and the pack mentality.
