Now breaking news in new jersey where a Police Cruiser has crashed in to a car during a motorcycle chase that spanned three towns. Eyewitness News Reporter carolina leid is live in hackensack with more. This is a very serious accident. Let me give you a live look of what were seeing here in hackensack. That Police Vehicle was involved in an accident with a civilian vehicle. That silver mazda. As you can see police have this whole area surrounded. Theyve shut down the road. Lets start from the beginning. Paramus police were in pursuit, in a low speed pursuit of a motorcyclist. Say they lost that motorcycle. From there, Hackensack Police picked up on a low speed pursuit with that same motorcycle. It was here on summit avenue that a Police Vehicle got in to the accident with the civilian vehicle. We do not have word on the condition of the driver or the Police Officer involved in that accident. From there the motorcyclist just kept on going. At some point getting in to an accident in may wood, hitting a car on Spring Valley avenue. Right now that person on the motorcycle is in custody at the hospital and has moderate injuries. Back here in hackensack i spoke to a couple neighbors and heres what one woman had to say about the accident. I walk my dogs on these streets every single night and theres traffic and plenty of it. Even though theres a speed were still working on a condition for the driver of the mazda as well as the Police Officer involved in this crash as well. Working on those details. A developing story on long island. Police are investigating the death of a newborn girl found in a bag. That bag was discovered in the backyard of a home in glen head in Nassau County. N. J. Burkett is there right now with the latest. The autopsy in this case will be critical because we still do not know the precise circumstances of the childs death. The homicide squad is on the scene. The homicide commander held a briefing for reporters here just a short time ago. Heres what we can confirm for you at this hour. Found unresponsive according to sources in a bag on the back deck of a home here on walnut street in glen head, long island. But this episode actually began several hours ago when police and volunteers medics were called to the home at 8 20 this morning for a 20yearold young woman with severe bleeding. It was not until doctors examined her at the hospital that it became clear that there was another life involved. And heres what the captain told reporters a few minutes ago. An e. R. Doctor determined there was a pregnancy involved. Officers responded back to this location. An autopsy will be conducted on the newborn child to determine whether the child was born alive or was stillborn. Investigators tell me all parties involved here are cooperating in the case. To recap, the homicide squad is on the scene investigating after a newborn girl was found street in glen head. No charges filed. But this investigation is not over tonight. We just learned the suspect in a shooting at a bus station in virginia that injured a state trooper and two other people has died. Gunshots rang out at the greyhound station this afternoon in downtown richmond. All three victims were taken to the hospital. The trooper has lifethreatening injuries. And right now the area near the bus station is cordoned off while Police Continue to investigate. Politics now. And the new York Democratic primary taking on new meaning this year. I look at the people supporting him and the message i get is one of love, one of compassion, one of inclusivity, one of bringing people together. We have got to lift up the standard of living of workers in this country and throughout the world. Reporter a quinnipiac poll released today shows clinton with a 12point lead among new york democrats. Clinton is hoping a win here helps propel her even closer to the nomination, while sanders is looking to cut in to her sizable delegate lead and push the race all the way to the convention in july. Back here live in the south bronx, i want to give you a sense of the size of the crowd this line stretches around the block. We got here about 1 00 this afternoon and the line has been building steadily since then. This line wraps all the way around the park. There are several thousand people here. They started lining up hours ago. For it the rally thats set to start at 7 00 tonight. Also several celebrities are expected to show up in support of Bernie Sanders, including actor Rosaria Dawson and spike lee. Quite a crowd indeed. On the republican side now, a rally against donald trump wrapping up at columbus circle. People sort of couldnt believe that a person running for the highest office in the land would say that a woman should be punished for having an abortion in america. Reporter folks showed up across the street from the Trump International hotel today to lend their voices to the growing crescendo of critics who found the republican frontrunners comments on abortion offensive. His comments, his bullying, his bigotry, his misogyny, its just hard to believe that people are flocking to him the way they are. Reporter asked by nbc if women who have abortions should be punished for it, trump verbally stumbled for a moment then dove right in. There has to be some form of punishment . For the woman. Its a great day for central parks first mow kicking off the big screen season and our own bill evans, a lot of pomp and circumstance at noon time. Central Park Conservancy which takes care of the park has to mow 300 acres all across central park. 7 and a half tons of grass seed in the park they have to use. So far the virus has been found mainly in the caribbean and south america but the cdc released an updated map of where mosquitos who carry the virus could potentially be found. Eyewitness News Reporter stacey sager spoke to Health Department officials about all this and shes live in Lower Manhattan with more. This latest map, it hadnt been updated in years so this updated map does show the potential for these types of mosquitos to reach our area. But a lot to keep in mind here. First of all, remember, these mosquitos only transmit the virus. In order to do that, they first have to bite someone with zika. Reporter just when new yorkers are finally looking forward to warmer temperatures, some news from the centers for public Health Officials here in the city abuzz. Seems the cdc has revised its previous estimates about the two mosquito species known to carry the zika virus and the newest map shows the species may now extend in to the tristate area. Thats a little scary especially if youre think ing about having children or if youre pregnant. Reporter the virus, while mild in most of us, is much more threatening to pregnant women because it carries birth defects. However here in new york city Health Officials insist theyve tested and tested for the main type of mosquito known to transmit zika and they havent found it. They have found its cousin, the asian tiger, but its power to transmit zika consistently is still in question. This mosquito in new york doesnt seem to be very good at that. Doesnt seem to be very good at taking virus from one person to another person. Reporter still the city for west nile, there will be larvaicide for the asian tigers. The mosquitos only spread the virus. They have to first bite someone who is infected. Were optimistic were not going to have local transmission here in new york. However, we are prepared for everything. Once again, assuming these mosquitos even reach our area, they first have to bite someone whos infected. Right now theres only a few dozen people infected with the zika virus and those people obviously got the virus through traveling. Those people in our area, they didnt contract the virus here in new york city. A few ways you can also be prepared, get rid of any standing water on your property. Get set to use a lot of insect repellent and obviously if youre pregnant, avoid the affected areas. Live at city hall, stacey sager, channel 7 Eyewitness News. On long island the Suffolk County police have a new approach tonight to fighting drug crimes. For residents to call if they neighborhood. Suffolk county police have also changed the way the Department Responds to and prioritizes drug tips. Additionally its looking at drug overdoses to try to track down dealers in those cases. New information about a man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death then hiding her body. Zambrano entered a charge to first degree murder. He was found later in virginia and arrested. Zambranos sentencing is scheduled for next month. He faces up to 28 years in prison for the murder and a separate attempted burglary charge. The all clear has been given tonight at an Elementary School in brooklyn that was evacuated the smell of gas was detected inside ps204 in bensonhurst. Around 1 00 the school got the all clear. Nypds 62nd precinct posted a photo of kids giving a thumbs up as they headed back to class. A Security Guard at a high school on long island is free tonight following his arrest for recording a student in the bathroom. Police say 24yearold Daniel Williams walked in to the boys bathroom at Roosevelt High School in Nassau County while a 16yearold boy was inside a williams is charged with unlawful surveillance and endangering the welfare of a child. 11th. Smashed the windshield. Smashed the top of the car. Today when con ed crews were in the neighborhood. They were working in this area. And what happened was apparently some lines got touched or crossed down in this hole here. Then an explosion occurred. Then that manhole cover or transformer cover then shot out of this hole and ended up on top of this car smashing the windshield and damaging the whole top of it. This is alberta wilsons car. I have my sympathies to you. When you saw it, what were you thinking . We were in shock. We were in total shock. We were at home watching tv. All of the sudden we smell smoke. We come down running. Smoke coming out of a pothole. We call 911. The Fire Department came. Con edison came. We go, thinking everything is okay. She goes to work. I go to the park with my boy. We hear a boom and were coming back and as we go back, we see this on top of our car. I mean, its just crazy. I believe so. I believe so. But thank god we are okay. Because we were inside the car earlier when the first smoke came out. We came inside the car thinking that it was going to be the safest place to go then we come and we find this. Just glad were okay. Im in shock. Im in total shock. Very much so. I can imagine. Here it is. Let me show you again. Mr. Wilsons car badly damage. Probably totaled at this point as a result of this. You want to make sure the management just understands you and that theres a comfort level. Reporter if youre just not sure if your child is really ready for sleep away camp, there are camps that just have two or threeweek sessions. There are also some camps that offer rookie weeks or rookie days. Basically its an opportunity for them to try out the camp, see what its like to spend the day at camp, have an overnight at the camp. The producers of the broadway hit hamilton are changing a casting notice, saying actors of all ethnicities are welcome to audition. Snow, but that dog and that bark is keeping mail couriers from their appointed rounds. A 15pound bichon shih tzu. I couldnt believe because of a barking dog that they would actually suspend somebodys mail without getting any further information before actually doing that. Reporter emily got a notice this week saying leo was unrestrained and threatened the mail carrier. Nonsense she says. Hes never bitten anybody, never attacked anybody. Is he a loud barker . Yeah. But he gets excited when he sees people because he likes people. Reporter most days leo is home alone. The front door is locked. But recently fabrizio was home, the front door was open. Leo was behind the storm door and barked. In my opinion he was angry because the dog was annoying him and he kicked it to say stop barking. But when i confronted him, thats when this whole thing happened. Tells a different story and in a statement the Postal Service says this is the second time our employee felt threatened by this dog. They survived and tonight we hear from one of them. First were following breaking news. A Police Chase Ends in a crash with another car and the victims are rushed to the hospital. It started with officers chasing a motorcycle in paramus and moved in to hackensack where the police car slammed in to a car. Eyewitness News Reporter carolina leid is at the scene with the latest. Paramus police started with a speeding motorcycle going by them and at some point on route 4 they lost that driver, that person on the motorcycle, which leads us right here to hackensack. A live look at the scene here, Hackensack Police picked up on this low speed pursuit, got in to the accident you see there civilian vehicle here on summit avenue. Right now no word on how either the officer or the person in that vehicle are doing right now. From there the motorcycle according to police kept on going, hit a car in maywood on Spring Valley avenue, this all happening in the middle of the afternoon, right around 2 00 this afternoon. Residents tell me they cant believe all of this unfolded at that time of day. Rush hour, got to let the guy off, unless he did something really, really bad. They cant take any chances.
