Adam reiss is there. Explain whats happening behind you right now. Reporter the check points are up here krystal. The manhunt is on. Theyre not giving up here. Nbc news spoke to Joyce Mitchells attorney leaving the Clinton County jail and the allegations she may have wanted to kill her own husband, her own husband stands by her. As i said shes distraught. Shes very upset. Shes very weeping and very up set. Is she remorseful for helping . I would say she is yes there were its day 11. 800 tips. Searchers looking for them but no sign of them yet. Its stale cold trail. Krystal . All right. Adam, thank you so much for that report. Here with us now is former fbi special agent in charge of western new york peter ahern. He is president of ahern consulting. Thank you for being here. Nice to be here. Thank you. What do you think of the idea of additional accomplices . Do you see any signs of that . Well, i think the fact that you dont see the signs are something thats indicative. I wasnt elaborate. I think mitchell was a pawn in what is happening and, frankly, i think, you know she probably wasnt long for the future if these two individuals were dealing with her. But again, its clear that it was sophisticated, well planned. Well thought out. And that is the biggest indicator of other people involved outside besides mitchell. You talk about whether theres other people involved goes to the layers of mystery here. The mystery how they got out. Right . And then the mystery of what they did. Visavis their most important accomplice. You argue she was a pawn. I want to play more of the fascinating interview with the d. A. And hearing the evidence. There must have been more to the plan than that. You would think so right . And you would think that with this elaborate plan that more information was provided to her. But shes been consistent from day one. Through, you know friday night that thats all she knew. Maybe that was one of their plans to very you know provide her with very limited information so if she were to not show up then she wouldnt you know disclose potential areas that they may have had a plan to go to. So walk us through that Law Enforcement theory that essentially this was a small criminal enterprise operating like an organization to give certain people tasks without visibility of the entire conspiracy. Sure. One of the key things here that you have to think about is what you call Operational Security. No different than the military. I mean, we also saw that with the 9 11 hijackers. Not Everybody Knows every part of the plan because you have a breakdown of Operational Security. I think she was a small part of this plan whatever factor that was and i dont believe they were going to share anything more with her besides what she was supposed to do in this instance. And i think, too, ive seen other former inmates talk about it at the clinton facility saying they never heard about prison breaks because you have to realize you Start Talking about it its all over the yard and the prison and of course, you know if you turn somebody in to get favoritism, thats a biggest risk. Oerngsal security is something they were thinking. Yeah. Absolutely. Its sounding peter, more and more like the two men may not be in the search area authorities focused on. New york Governor Cuomo saying they could be in many excofor all we know. What happens with the search . Does it take the two doing something really stupid for us to get any sort of lead . Well as they say in Law Enforcement, a lot of things you rather be lucky than good any day. Luck has to play a factor. The mexico thing could be overblown. You have to remember youre 30 minutes from the canadian border. Canada or mexico you can hide in both places and both countries have treaties with the United States that if theyre caught theyre extradited. It happened already with one of the two convicts that was a fugitive in mexico before. And i think right now youre starting to get inside the outside the box thinking by Law Enforcement in this federal, state and local. They start looking outside the box of that one area theyre looking in now because, again, frankly, they still could be there. You have to look at that area. Been up in that area manydesolate. A lot of vacation homes. Could be outside that search box and also they could be on the way and in canada and they could be in mexico where you have to work the border authorities and have them do what they can. But i think they have to really start thinking outside the box. Peter, in the year 2000 seven men broke out of a texas prison. Texas seven. On the lam for 41 days. The leader of the team that eventually captured them John Moriarty told the marshal project, fantastic website, he told them families are a huge resource in catching fugitives, so many times they are the ones who have led us to escapees. Now, of course, the d. A. In this situation, the manhunt said theres no reason to believe that these escapees contacted their families. But how do we use families to our best advantage if youre searching for these men . Well first of all, the media has to understand, they dont get the full story on any interview theyre doing with any of the authorities and rightfully so. They have their own Operational Security to take care of. I guarantee you theyre looking at friends, family. Theyre probably pulling any record they can. Theres a lot of technology that could be available if they can pinpoint or if there was a contraband cell phone. Also i think they have to start looking at previous patterns. Again, look at the history of the escapes before. I believe there was an escape before. Look at associates in mexico and what they did on the lam. Theres behavioral science type thing going in going along on the federal level and again in this collaborative environment out of the with the crisis team dealing with. This friends, family, absolutely. Somebody thats trusted in. I think another thing to think about, too i hope theyre looking at this is you can also have somebody recently released a friend of the two and youre out there and you know how it works. You could be part of the plan and the greater good of getting the two individuals out. Im hoping theyre looking at anybody that they were associated with in prison thats been out recently that could be part of this. I would think. A theory. An educated guess. Right. Interesting stuff. And the search continues. Peter ahern, thank you so much for your perspective today. Sure. Youre welcome. We have breaking news in the storm cycle this afternoon. Our first big tropical system of the season named bill has made landfall in south texas. The Hurricane Center is warning of a life threatening situation. 80 million americans, nearly a quarter of the countrys population feeling affects. Our chief meteorologist is tracking it for us. This system is much different than most. Thats right. Unfortunately, as bill made landfall it is not expected to weaken like they usually do. In this case because of all the heavy rain across texas, the soil moisture out there will act more like an ocean for bill and expecting bill to maintain strength longer than it would normally after making landfall and so much moisture out there. Lock at the heavy rain right now. Houston suburbs pounded with the rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. See the center of circulation right here. Moving on shore. And lots of tropical moisture streaming in. Tornado watches issued. Thats what the red lines here for austin houston. Severe Weather Threat is there, as well. Of course, flooding will be the main concern as we head over 48 hours. Numbers potentially devastating as far as how many inches of rainfall were expecting. You can see 14. 7 of course. This area still reeling from flooding from a couple of weeks ago. Cant take any rain but we get it up into waco and dallas over 48 hours and then the flood potential into the midwest. You can see the path over the next five days. Anywhere you see the oranges and especially the pink colors places like tulsa, oklahoma st. Louis, the midwest and eventually the ohio valley all dealing with that flood potential as Tropical Storm bill gradually weakens and spreads around rotates around High Pressure and even we could see the tropical moisture here in the northeast. Probably not until sunday fathers day. Much more diminished than right now and a very crucial next 24 to 48 hours across texas and oklahoma with the flooding potential from Tropical Storm bill. Krystal . Thank you. We know that you will stay on that story. That is just one of the stories cycling now, including a major league hack attack. The allegations of corporate espionage of two Major League Baseball teams that have the feds investigating. Plus the interview that everyone is talking about today. Rachel dolezal in a cable egs collusive right here on msnbc. She stim says that she is black. We will spin. And the political headline that everyone is talking about after years of teasing us trump is actually in for 2016. What . We are all just so excited about this. The cycle rolls on, tuesday, june 16th. Opausal changes its not likely to go away on its own. So lets do something about it. The feds could be crying foul on the st. Louis cardinals investigated for possibly hacking into the internal Computer Network of a houston astros. Doing so could provide details of trade discussions, scouting reports, all information that could prove highly useful to a rival team. The mlb commissioner made the first comments about this unfolding situation just moments ago. To assume that that investigation is going to prove a particular respect with the cardinals and jump to the use of a word like cyber attack i just think it we dont know that those are the facts yet. Nbc news justice correspondent Pete Williams is reporting on this story for us. Pete whats the latest here . Well its the New York Times getting credit for reporting this latest development which is that the st. Louis cardinals investigated but the fact that the astros hacked came out a year ago, june 2014 when internal messages from the astros management about potential trades were posted anonymously on an internet website. The messages dated from june 2013 to march of 2014. And at the time the astros gm disclosed that the teams database had been hacked. He said the astros discovered it the month before. That would be may of 2014. And he said the fbi had been brought in. Now that same gm who created the database for the astros had run a similar run working for the cardinals and Law Enforcement Officials Say this may simply be a matter of similar passwords on both websites and Law Enforcement officials today confirm that the fbi is investigating officials from the st. Louis cardinals for the intrusion. Back to you all. All right. Pete williams in washington thanks for that report. Politics now. In 1988 donald trump flirted with running for president but at the last moment he declined and felt like we were Charlie Brown and he was lucy and this had happened. This time im going to kick that football clear to the moon aaahh in 2000 trump again considered running but then this happened happened. This time im going to kick that football clear to the moon. Aaahh in 04, trump again did this. This time im going to kick that football clear to the moon aaahh and in 2012. This time im going to kick that football clear to the moon aaahh but this time trump is actually running he says he wants to make America Great again. The American Dream is dead. Bring it back but if i get elected president , i will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before and we will make America Great again. Five thirty eight points out that trumps net favoritability is the worst of those they have looked at since 1980. You know he makes the race fun and thats what really counts right . Senator bob casey, democrat of pennsylvania with us now to take stock of the field and tell by the look on your face you cant wait to talk about this. A trump fan, i can tell. Does it bother you, sir to see people who, lets say, appear to not really be in it to win it using the president ial race to bring more media light on themselves to enhance their own careers . Well, its a great country. And politics is part of that. But look. I think the most important thing this weekend politically is great speech that secretary clinton made about her candidacy and the focus on american families, what theyre up against, the struggles they have and how shes going to approach that not only as a candidate but president and i thought that was good news. I appreciate your answer. And the spirit you offer it in. Donald trump isnt running and to the extent we talk about it should be as a farce or a businessman, not a candidate. I see youre doing that. Lets move on to another important policy issue which is you mentioned secretary clinton and i think you have been on different sides of trade issue. I wonder if you can give her thoughts that because the deal is secret and not finished doesnt have a final position. Do you think thats fair . And many criticized the secrecy that goes into the bills. Or do you think she is as a candidate do what you have done in your case a position against it . Look. I think theres a difference between the debate we are having right now and the debate well have when were considering the agreement. Im clear about my position on the trade Promotion Authority and ultimately the trade agreement itself. But right now, we are still debating the what you might call the raulbook for how to consider the trade agreement. I thought she made a good suggestion the other day to have to try to have the Administration Try harder than i think they have been in terms of considering and incorporating the ideas of folks in Congress Like me and other democrats who have been very concerned about the labor provisions very concerned about environmental protections so that the Playing Field is leveled for our workers. And i thought her suggestion was a good one. Senator, im i want to talk about a piece of legislation that matters a lot to you. The Computer Science jobs and education act. I, of course will be in oakland on friday talking to the people at yes we code who are trying to help young people get from oakland to silicon valley. And your legislation would help push that forward, as well wouldnt it . Yeah. Part of it is im glad youre bringing a real focus to it. Thats very helpful i think to make a national priority. Coding so that young people can have a chance to not just engage in 21st century learning but allow them the chance to compete for 21st century jobs. Part of that, of course is making sure that we who are voting on policy that relates to elementary and secondary education to make Computer Science part of that. It should be a core academic subject. It is not now. We should make sure doing Everything Possible to enhance and strengthen professional development for teachers so more teach erps have the chance to teach Computer Science. And we know that the job number is substantial. By one estimate, by 2020 more than 4. 5 million jobs in Computer Science and information technology. So this is an education issue in the near term but its also a jobs issue over time. Thats well said. Pennsylvania senator casey, thank you as always for being with us. Thanks very much. Now we bring in times zeek miller. Always good to see you. Big day today. Donald trump taking the plunge making it number 12 on the republican side to run for president. As bob casey just said. America is a great country. I will say, though his speech was really Something Else if anyone who listened to it, unlike any of the announcements we have seen so far. And entertainment goes into that. I want to ask you about the money. Thats changed the name of politics. Changed the name of the game here. You look at last go around and i want to lay it out for people because its pretty disgusting in my opinion and adelson spent 20 million to keep gingrich in the race rainy Foster Friess spent 20 million for santorum and trump announced the worth is 9 billion in assets. Give us a sense of how long he could stay in the race if he were to self fund himself. Well really depends on just how much he is worth. Thats a self reported figure. Thats not filed with the sec. Once he fills that out under penalty zeek, hold on. I dont think youre being fair. This is donald trump. We have to take him at his word. Literally, it is huge. I mean he is you know he can self fund as long as he wants. He has the money. Really doesnt take that much to stay in the race. You know . All tough do is fly around and get on the debate stage. The poll numbers is where he needs to be. And travel around a little bit. Well zeke dont be jealous but i did score an interview with donald trump. Thats true. For my web show and talk to him on the white house Correspondents Dinner red carpet with many interesting things to say. I asked him if he decided where the president was born. He said that was the wrong question and focus on the economy because he wasnt at all the person who prolonged that team of investigators to hawaii but whatever. What i think is going to be actually interesting and potentially impactful here is donald trump right now just because he is wellknown does have some traction in the polls and because of the debate standards that have been set right now he would actually make the stage and people like governors, bobby jindal and john kasich would not make the debate stage. I mean is donald trump going to help us all realize how ridiculous the debate criteria on the republican side are . Yeah. Hes the test case for this. He currently polls ahead of governor Chris Christie in new jersey. He is wellknown. Polling is the problem. With so many kand daitds you cannot accurately poll anything. And so you know he is where he is because of name i. D. And gets to the problem of the debate criteria for the republican party. For fox and for cnn, the first two debates. Theyre using an imperfect metric to get people on stage and right now donald trump is how it comes back to bite them. All right. Thank you, zeke. Thank you for having me. Up next the story all of america is talking about. She says shes black. Her white parents say, what the what . Today Rachel Dolezal spoke exclusively to matt lauer and Melissa Harris perry and after the break the cycle will talk about her and all of the feelings raised by this strange story. Now to that big msnbc exclusive, a former naacp chapter president speaking out about the controversy that ultimately cost her her job. Rachel dolezal self identifies as black. Her parents say she is being dishonest. She claims the issue is more about more than biology and here she is in a new interview airing tonight at 8 00 p. M. Eastern. Ive heard a lot of people ask you, are you africanamerican or caucasian . Im not going to ask it that way. Thank you. Are you black . Yes. What do you mean when you say that . What does it mean to you to assume the mantle the identity of blackness . Well it means several things. First of all, it means that i have really gone there with the experience in terms of being a mother of two black sons and really owning what it what it means to experience and live black blackness. What it means to live and experience blackness. Thats her in her own words. This is a story thats been everywhere all over the internet. Whats new today is these interviews. And i know a lot to talk about because we have been talking about it in our office quite a while already. To get out what is new and newsworthy here today, you have that. Her attempt to explain why she thinks this is legitimate. When so many people its clear, most people disagree. The other personal side for her which is the fact that shes not been honest or consistent. Two different errors. Here she is also with matt lauer on that point. Your lawsuit against Howard University in 2002 where you claim you were discriminated against because you were a pregnant white people. Do you understand how people can hear that and say, heres another example . She said she identified herself as being africanamerican or black from a young age but heres a case where she identified hefrs as a white woman because it worked for her under the circumstances. The reasons for the my full tuition scholarship being removed and teaching position as well. Thea. Position were that other people needed opportunities and you probably have white relatives and that you know that can afford to help you with your tuition. And i thought that was an injustice. So theres her opinion on injustice. What we see, though clearly is an inconsistency in addition to the dishonesty. The individual level i look at this toure, heres someone whos not straight with the people in her life. Certainly. And the people in her workplace about this. And has literally gone to court and been dishonest or at least inconsistent. Then you go beyond her and say, what is america to make of this . Because the problem seems to be bigger than just what shes done on her own. Theres a larger question here about how people want to selectively sort of trade in and out of other cultures. Yeah. You know look. When she says she knows what its like to experience blackness, im just like no you dont just stop. And i find it offensive that you would suggest that you do. Look. When i did my book about blackness, one thing that binds black people is the experience of racism. Theres not a culturally thing that binds all of us but the experience of racism from systemic stereotype threat whatever it is and, no shes not experienced antiblack racism and with the howard suit suing howard because she doesnt get a job because shes a white woman, you see that she wants to it both ways and sort of like that old joke like everybody wants to be black until the cops show up. Thats what shes doing and i find it entirely offensive that she wants to be black when its fun and interesting and valuable. But when its more convenient, then she wants to be white. Yeah. I think thats the issue is that even in her really identifying with as i think we all agree, trying to ally of the black community, theres an element of privilege. She gets to pick and choose ala cart. The parts of the experience she wants to have and wants to incorporate into her life and her identity. So that deception and that appropriation, obviously, is not okay and unacceptable. But as i look at this story, theres another sort of bigger thing that is bothering me which although rachels story is unusual, were seeing this common ark play out over and over again where person a does Something Weird or offensive, dragged into the Public Square on twitter and ripped apart. She will have a hard time proceeding with her life as she was and so on some level im also asking about what it is that we do to these people. We bring them into the Public Square. We publicly shame them. Whats the point . Whens the point . Even as i dont accept what she did i feel bad for her and what she is going through and will go through and with her for the rest of her life. This is not someone who physically hurt a person or committed a serious crime and so i think you make a good point there. Because i think the intentions were pure. She thought that she was trying to make a difference. Obviously, she was lying here. She was totally inauthentic about who she was. Krystal, you bring up the most important part of this conversation. This happens it seems in the society way too often these days and pile on people or we hear the headline, read the banner on the screen and we read one fact about this person and we like to judge them peedimmediately and oftentime there iss a bigger story and many cases their lives are ruined because of this and i dont know that this woman listen to me. I dont know that this womans life is ruined but i dont think she deserves for her life to be this is not a victimless crime here. Right . Its not a crime to lie in the Public Square and all the issues that she cares about in terms of black community, civil rights all those are pushed aside to focus on her and the things she has done and the lies shes told so that is a problem. We could be talking about tamir rice. We are not. This is not something she asked for and a consequence but i would just say we are all very aware that all of our actions and tweets et cetera are judged under a microscope. It is that case for everyone now. Thats the world we live in. A lot of people fascinated by this and plays into stories that people want to tell ourselves. Look. Race is just something that people are overemphasizing and its unfortunate that people want to seize on this story in that way because we have real racial inequalities in this nation. We know that. This isnt something to opt in or out of it. The joke side misses some of that. Hopefully i think good comes from the discussions even if they start out weird. Right here. And silly. To see the rest of that big interview, Rachel Dolezals interview, well play it in its entirety. Judge for yourself at 8 00 p. M. Eastern tonight. Up next why some celebrities living on 1. 50 a day and want you to try it out, as well. When i started at the shelter, i noticed benny right away. I just had to adopt him. Audible safety beeping audible safety beeping audible safety beeping the nissan rogue with safety shield technologies. The only thing left to fear is you imagination. Nissan. Innovation that excites. Could you live on just 1. 50 . 1. 2 billion people around the world, thats unfortunately, a reality. To raise awareness of those living in extreme poverty, the global poverty project issued a challenge of live below the line. You have just a few days left to take part. The goal is to live on just 1. 50 for 5 days straight and fund raise in the process. And some of hollywoods biggest celebrities want you to get involved. Live below the line will call your attention to the difficult choices People Living in extreme poverty experience every day, choosing between health care or education, food or heat shelter or transport. Challenge yourself to live on 1. 50 a day for food and drink. Live below the line so that others can rise above it. Are you in . Thousands have already signed up and to date the initiative raised nearly half a million dollars. Justine lucas is a director of global poverty project and so great to have you with us. Thank you so much. Thank you so much for having me. This is so important in terms of raising money and helping people really understand the reality of this. I have a number of friends who have tried it out and initially they think its a few days. Easy. Not so much. I dont know anyone whens survived it. Honestly. It is hard. This is real. 1. 50 a day for food and drink and take on the challenge and realize, wow, that was incredibly difficult and for somebody in extreme poverty thats for everything education, transportation. Thats all they have and how impossible their lives are so that empathy comes with the challenge. Yeah. You think about the purpose of doing Something Like this you know jayz with a song of Hurricane Katrina and gave money and then questioned whether that alone was enough. He says because i didnt give my time, almost like i didnt give a dime. What is important here about beyond whatever people can actually do whatever they can donate about doing into the lived experience . Actually you get the experience of realizing that its about lack of choice and opportunity. So for somebody living in extreme poverty it is about the challenging choices that we have no sense of but when you go into the Grocery Store to buy 1. 50 a day worth of food the choices are incredibly limited. Looking at rice and beans, looking some plain pasta whereas living here in the United States oftentimes you walk into the store and 40,000 different products. Right. The amount of choices we have in our every day lives just that perspective, thats why the challenge is unique. Even folks living in extreme poverty in america have an extraordinarily limited amount of choices because they live in food deserts and no fresh food or good food you would want to eat f. The challenge was accurate, youd have to survive on 1. 50 on crappy food not really green you wouldnt want to eat. That lack of choice and opportunity, you are looking at lack of nutrients, fresh food. All parts of it. When you go through the challenge for five days you realize that you feel that lack of nutrition. You feel weak. You feel lethargic. Thats also part of the experience. Everybody around you feelings the same way, krystal. Absolutely. The project about the lived experience as ari points out and raising the money. Where will it go . We have 22 Charity Partners this year concerned worldwide, u. S. , mlb Players Trust joined this year. Nice. Great partners. You can go on the website, choose a charity, if you care about women and girls, we have a charity about that. Very uncomfortable there. Not polite. We deal with a Little Buffalo of that. We talk about corporations like monsanto and black cindy said who the real criminals are. Okay. And we deal what . And then on a softer side we deal with our mothers and we deal with the you know just simple things down to how our prisoners are fed in the prison system and black cindy takes that as her own Little Mission in charge and shes always finding a way around the system. So she finds an interesting way around the system this season that surprises and shocks her in an emotional and real way. Since you put that way, can i talk to black cindy for a moment . Oh my goodness. It depends. What are we talking about . Well sometimes she does pop up and i have to tuck her back in. I want to see if he can bring her out to talk about litchfield. For a moment. Okay. What do you want to talk about litchfield in what you want to talk about . Whys everyone in litchfield tripping . Because we are in prison. For that fact alone. I mean you know what im saying . We got to eat, make it happy. We got to keep it popping. We got, you know do our thing. So thats why we tripping. Were trying to trip out of there hopefully one day. Got to keep it popping, ari. I love method acting with toure. I know. Hard because im looking at myself in my hair and the hair and the makeup and the dress to kind of go there and trying to be pretty today. Well you can be whatever you want here. Something you understand intimately from being this character and going around is you touch peoples lives and art and this show is cat lizing conversations and moving people in ways that other things dont and we have a broken Prison Industrial Complex in this country. Yes. And we know worldwide we areworldwide we are incarcerating more people for less justification than any other democracy. Yeah. And more than a lot of other more totalitarian regimes. I want to point out one study and get your thought on forprofit prisons. A new study finding private prisons are keeping inmates longer with no benefit. They dont reduce crime. What are your thoughts on all of that . Look i it is really tough because im from atlanta. I live in atlanta. And we have one of the highest prison populations. And i had the opportunity to spend time when i worked for the u. S. Attorney and got to see what this prison system is like. And it is difficult whether it is public or private. Because i think the real issue we need to look at is how we are reforming these individuals and what opportunities we are allowing them once they get out of prison. I have that friend who works with carnegie hall. And they work on the Musical Program with some prisoners at rikers and try to rehabilitate them through music. So i think the question really comes down to what are we doing once these prisoners come out . And how are we allowingo Reenter Society and not judge them for the rest of their lives for the mistake they make . Thats a great point. Another issue that has focused on in the show is race. And as you know the story everyones been talking about. Is rachel. This is stupid. Lets focus on the real issues focus. What did you mean by that . We are now gearing up for a political political president ial campaign in a race. Those are the issues we need to be talking about. Trump Just Announced his presidency. So i think the issues that are surrounding what is goings on in our Political Climate are more important than someone that wants to talk about how they want to identify themselves racially. Look. I am an African American woman and i carry that proudly. And to me anyone that wants to represent my culture, in all honesty, i cant i cant i cant blame them for that. There certainly it is more than just the hair and make up and a way of being. It is a history that i think that we carry. But for me the main thing that troubles me thats unfortunate about this entire thing is how how she disowned her family. Yeah. If you want to claim being African American thats fine. But dont forsake those that love. I think that deception that really has concerned a lot of people. Adrien seymour. Orange is the new black. Thank you for being us. American express for travel and entertainment worldwide. Just show them this the American Express card. Dont leave home without it and someday, i may even use it on the moon. Its a marvelous thing oh haha so you can replace plane tickets, travelers cheques, a lost card. Really . That worked . American express timeless safety and security are now available on apple pay. The next evolution of membership is here. Building aircraft, the likes of which the world has never seen. This is what we do. Thats the value of performance. Northrop grumman. It is official. The two 2016 heavyweight contenders have formally entered the ring for bush v. Clinton, the rematch. Hillary clinton in the one corner. And in the red corner wearing im a normal guy buttondown. Jeb im my own man lets just stick with jeb. Lets get ready to rumble. Is it just me . Or is this possible match up a little tough to get psyched about. Even for me, excitement for 2016 it feels effort full. I have to talk myself into why this race really matters. And i dont think im alone in that feeling. It would be easy to blame this malaise on the o prospect of watching two battle over it out over whose less tied to the past. But i dont think that is the problem. Commenter commentators have focused on the why and the why not. And hillary is a fighter and she wants to run because she wants to be the champion of every day americans. A progressive restructuring of the tax codes to stem the tides of the mounting inequality. Jeb is running because hes a problem solver. Successful as floridas governor and wants his shot of the inflations problems. And setting ambitious goal for presidency of 4 growth and 19 million new jobs. It is hard to argue with any of that. Some of these policies would be shuj transformative. Because they spark little excitement because they answer the wrong question. The real question sk isnt what or why . But how . How are you going to get anything accomplished . The main reason this competition feels so the bloodless, rote. In d. C. Where the confirmation of the attorney general is held up because of abortion and whether or not we should pay our bills is controversial, how is anyone going to usher in a new era of the collaborative effective politics . We havent heard an answer and in fact we suspect that there isnt one. There is the real disappointment of the barack obama. It is not policy specifics or whether he played enough golf with republicans. Its that what obama ran on was a promise to transform politics. We believed that he could because of his charisma and his unique only in america story in the unified rejection of the bush years and incredible mandate he road into office. Maybe he couldnt do it. Maybe nobody could. And now washington is now worse than ever. How are hillary or anyone else going to make it work . If anyone can answer that question they will win in a knockout. I fear though that this fight will go the distance. The eventual contenders will grind it out. Emerging blooded and the nation will be left feeling they didnt get their money or their votes worth. Thats it till the next election. Rachel dolezal speaks to this network and insists she identified as black. And the fbi is investigating the st. Louis cardinals for hacking and the pope is taking on Climate Change deniers. First donald trump says he is officially running for president. Its tuesday june 16th and this is now.
