Thank you. Wootang said something about our electoral system at a nonpartisan level i think you might agree with, which is cash rules everything around me, cream. Thats a problem i think in the system. Green is everything, you are absolutely right, its all about the green. We will be watching as us aings, thank you for the handoff. We are covering several developing stories right now. Florida is heading it looks like for a recount. We will have the latest live from Steve Kornacki on the beat tonight and the indisputable blue wave. You know who else is here . The one and only lawrence adonell, what it moo ens the democrats literally picked up more seats than they have in 40 years. A special fallback, i was talking wootang with chuck todd. Tonight on this show i have George Clinton from funkadelic and care king and harry smith for a fallback friday. We begin with two stories that are intersecting and involve Donald Trumps 2016 campaign and increasing legal pressure. First the wall street journal tonight with new details on trumps central role in payoffs to Stormy Daniels and karen mcdougal, which includes an ad with david trump meeting in trump tower. Guess what he did . He said he needed help. Not just any help, but help for the campaign. Pecker said in response they could use the National Enquirer to buy the silence of women that mading a sayings against trump. They emerge as his guilty lawyer Michael Cohen arranged those deals is cooperating with bob mueller. You see on the screen the efforts to protect mueller from trumps new pick at the doj. Thousands marching in cities all over the country. A big story you may not have heard about. Newly empowered democrats promising to hold donald trump accountable. He should recuse himself. To be track with you, im shocked that he has not already recuse himself. He is the absolute wrong person to have in this position. This person does not, should not be there because of the statements hes made already. If there is any effort to obstruct or subvert justice here, we will find out about it. Trump today down playing any reports he picked whitaker because of his past criticism of the mueller probe. Well, Matt Whitaker, i dont know Matt Whitaker. He worked for Jeff Sessions and he was always extremely highly thought of and he still s. But i didnt know Matt Whitaker. W mat. [ inaudible question ] i didnt speak to Matt Whitaker about it. I dont know Matt Whitaker. The president says he doesnt know Matt Whitaker. Few think about it isnt even a good way to explain why you picked someone. Weve shown you reports that trump saw whitaker as a proven loyalist on these russia issues, he wouldnt recuse himself from the russia probe. But lets let someone else do some of the fact checking. Well, Matt Whitaker, i dont know Matt Whitaker. I can tell you Matt Whitaker is a great guy. I mean, i know Matt Whitaker. Some other people that know Matt Whitaker join me right now. Tony schwartz ceo and coauthor of the way were working isnt working and John Flannery. Good evening. We have a lot going on. Ly do it like this. Shelby, what are we learn something john what are the legal implication and tony, what itself going through trumps mind, a mind you know well. Today the wall street journal is reporting President Trump was at the center of these two hush money payments weve known about for a while, thanks to my colleagues at the journal. But he personally directed not just the hush money to Carol Mcdougal calling his buddy matthew pecker hey i need you to pay this. And Stormy Daniels, cohen for a long time said i did this personally. Im trumps fixer. I do things for him. He didnt even know about it. Now we know President Trump in october 2016 weeks before the election said get it done, michael. Michael wired Stormy Daniels lawyer the 100,000. Alongside the story, we have this big video. It shows you what trump was doing privately. In august he is saying megyn kelly has blood coming out of her wherever, he is meeting privately with peck tore silence women. When allegations surface that he had Sexual Misconduct and beauty queens started accusing him, he asked david peck tore pay off karen mcdougal, it was a great time line, doubling down on his treatment of women, privately, he was working very hard to silence these women. John. Well, its going to be very hard for mr. Trump to compromise the Southern District investigation. Its not under the guise of the special counsel investigation. But a good friend of mine on the hill, we discussed this and we agreed that gotti couldnt choose shis own da. Why does trump get to do so . He has a better org nietzed crime setup than gotti ever had. Thats what hes doing. He does what common criminals do. I dont know that guy thats going to help me. I dont know that prosecutor. It doesnt matter hes incompetent. I appreciate that. Ill let you keep going. Donald trump explained a kind of gangster mentality of being above the law which corrupting the law. Having said that, john gotti was accused of having people murdered. Thats not on the table here. Were not accusing him of murder, were only accusing him of subb verting americas fair play of justice and law and order. As compared to the few thugs that gotti destroyed, what he is doing is so much more significant to the country. To those of us that believe that the word were all equal and this is a diverse population and law matters and we have an orderly set of three departments, one of which is not recognized by the ag in mar berry venezuela madison a chief justice that served 35 years the court would decide what was cons stubl or not this ag says he wouldnt follow thoo that. He doesnt think its right. How would he ever instruct the solicitor general . How would he decide cases to follow. This is without financial into his conflicts expressing opinions that presumably he has no access to because his boss the outgoing ag was supposed to stay away from that. Before we go to tony on the trump reaction. You bring this up. A lot will remember during the Bush Administration there were theories the idea of president on near own can make law, override law, there is law against torture, but somehow george w. Bush could read people tortured. Let me read from the ags statements, he said the courts are supposed to be the inferior branch of our three branchs of government. I got to tell you not withstanding russia and everything else, it is wild to see a lawyer now leading the Justice Department even on an acting basis who says that when we all know everyone knows the Supreme Court is a coequal branch which also has the last word on what the law means. Right. And the significant advancess with we protect the unions to include women and blacks and to free slaves and to give the vote to people has all been as a result of amendments and being interpreted by the Supreme Court and the constitution and recent times, as repeat as 1954, when he did brown versus board of education and said separate wasnt equal was revolutionary to advance that perfection. We have a person in the west wing who is biased racist, bigoted. He cant stand anybody, he cant stand about a white male that wants to have a gun and speak out and discriminate against these groups. Thats not american and thats not republican. How do you feel about donald trump . Im not one of those people that believe there is redemption for mr. Trump. I think redemption for america is to rid us of mr. Trump. Thats what i think. There you have it. Tony schwartz, John Flannery speaking clearly. I dont know how to upstage that. I dont know you can. We are watching these two stories, these two types of pressure crash on donald trump the electoral pressure of a blue wave we have been covering and will explain further in our hour tonight and then the legal pressure. Whats going through his mind . What are we going to see . I think you saw what he was feeling in real time during his News Conference earlier in the week. When you saw that he just feels overwhelmed by whats going on and he couldnt contain his anger. They wrote him a statement. He read a few sentences of it and blew up and what he said essentially was, come after me and im going to war. You know, he hasnt had to be in a war because hes controlled all the troops up until now. Now the war is about to begin. Eighth civil war. Its a here we are 150 years later, were back in a civil war the red against the blue the south against the northment its trump against the democrats. And were going to see, i think, war footing and i think the democrats feel as if they have no choice but to do that. I wouldnt necessarily disagree with that. But i also think that theres kind of got to be a balance between fighting that war and creating narrative that is not simply pulling every single Trump Administration figure before a committee. Even though i know thats going to happen. Let me push you on what we saw this week based on your knowledge of trump. How much of what he did since the Election Results came in and for all his lying and for all of his spin and his efforts to distract. The distraction efforts, themselves, tells you he knows it was bad. Because hes trying to get away from it. So there is that thing, people say, is he confused . Hes into conspiracies . No, donald trump knows how exactly big the blue wave is. It makes him attention, he is throwing around everything he can do from a long press conference to the sessions thing. From your knowledge with him, was that all pre planned . His reaction. All the things he did, including on calling on jim acosta in the press conference so he can use him as a whipping boy . Which, of course, seems to have back fired. I do believes i certainly believe he was prepared for it. I think now what you will see is he is going to, as he always does. Youre good. There you go. I think as he always does, hes going to hes going to double down and you are going to see you are going to see much more anger and impulsiveness. Its going to be an ugly period. When this type of story comes back in the news and your story says quite simply, donald trump was lying from the jump. Thats what your reporting says . Yeah. This brings back another character back into the news, you know what im talking about . Michael cohen . Close, his opponent. Hillary clinton, bob mueller . It brings back a lot of these guys. The other person on the other side of the table of Michael Cohen. The other lawyer in these cases . Avenotti. Queue it up lets take a look, this is today. I dont think that that argument passes the smell test in this case, because according to wall street journal report, Michael Cohen and donald trump had communication along with others for the specific intent of covering up this payment so it could not be traced back to donald trump. That is not legal. That is illegal under Campaign Finance law. There is no question that donald trump conspired with Michael Cohen to commit a felony. So there are a lot of legal questions here. But one of them is where do you pin illegal. Some say yes, Michael Cohen pled guilt e guilty and made them at the direction of his boss. Therefore, implicating President Trump. Others say step back. Look at the john edwards case, maybe he has a legitimate reason for paying off the women that wasnt related to the campaign. It seems very clear these payments were made to help his campaign. As you pointed out, thats the reason he met with pecker in 2015 in the first place what can you do to help my campaign . My colleague rebecca asked him at the white house recently, did you know about these payments . President trump says, nobody cares. Thats his reaction. Tony schwartz, my final question is you know donald trump may be someone that doesnt know a lot about a lot. Definitely digs in when it approaches him. How will it affect him in a system he doesnt fully understand . I think not withstanding the gesture he made to nancy pelosi, who we can sense he has considerable fear about, i think hes going to be angry, aggressive and unrelenting. Hmm. Tony schwartz, saltial by holiday, thank you. Shelby holiday, thank you. Steve kornacki is here. The blue got bluer, how the democrats can win even more seats and were rolling out the tape that will show Lindsey Graham owning himself and his epic flipflop on trump firing Jeff Sessions. Then what i told you at the top of the show a Living Legends condition. Im ari melber, you are watching the beat on msnbc. Beat on m. Ways to lose stubborn belly fat. The roasted core wrap. 2, 1. With the one hundred and fortyfirst pick, the Seattle Seahawks select. Alright, you got it, shaquem. Alright, let me see. Florida, florida, florida. That was tim russerts iconic whiteboard moment many remember from the 2000 election. Well, were going for another version of that tonight. Because the content sus senate race between bill nelson and rick scott, scott suing the supervisors, sending Law Enforcement heover sees he says to investigate them. Every day since the election the left wing activists if Broward County have been coming up with more and more ballots out of nowhere. I will not sit idly by while the unethical liberals steal this election from florida. Stacy abrams prepping her legal fight. There could be a runoff there. In arizona democrat kristchris st kierstin sinemas is still going. Steve kornacki, if i made a nerd heartthrob across the land on tuesday night. Tell us everything we need to know tonight. It is, Election Night is still going on, ari, it started in florida. Look the governors race, Andrew Gillum did concede, that margin. 4 of a percent, automatic recount. There are some provisional ballots that will be counted the next day. We expect that gap will narrow a little. Again, these 30,000 votes behind. Where it starts to get interesting is the senate race. You see the mar join there. Bill nelson is 15,000 behind scott. With provisionals, that could get closer. You are close enough now. Its not a recount. Is will be the manual recount. They inspect them by hand. There is this issue out there in Broward County, the big brattic bastion, he is winning twotoone. It may cost nelson a couple thousand votes. That could be crucial state wide. You look at the result there. Also georgia in the governors race, you mentioned here, there are about 20,000 provisional ballots to be counted. There is an unknown number of absentee ballots out there, too. The Abrams Campaign is optimistic about those. They need to get kemp under 14 . There are legal issues popping up there as well. Then in arizona, ill tell you where, sinema got the lead as some of the votes were kounded and added in. Sill, though, there are like 450,000 outstanding votes in arizona yet to be tabulated. We expect tonight we will get a few more of those reported in. The vote thats come income tonight we expect is likely to safer sinema the question is, can she build up enough of a lead that when the final votes that were delivered on election day are counted and expected to be more favorable to mcsally, you can understand that cambook. A lot of numbers and races get to be decided. Thank you. We will be turning to you continuously. Now we go to a man that played a big role in these midterms. You may have heard of him. Bill stiemplt he contributed 51 million to democrats and related causes this cycle, outspending other people. He was the second biggest donor of both parties. That makes you a pretty big player. Well, ari, we arent really a donor. What we do is we try to organize young people, voters between 18 and 35 to extend the democracy to get the broadest possible democracy and get the right answers from the most americans. Look, i feel you on that. Far be it from me to argue too much from a billionaire. What we mean bythat is, you hava lot of money to impact these elections, lets start there. Did you get a good return on investment. Do you think your money is a part of this blue wave . Well, what we were trying to do as i was saying, ari, is to make sure we extended the electorate, more people, particularly young people who vote at half the rate of other american citizens in overlooked communities participated so on that basis, lets say two things. That was a record turnout by people between the ages of 18 and 29 ever. That age group voted at a higher rate than it has ever since 18yearolds were allowed to vote in 1971. And if you look nationwide at all of the votes, democrats, versus republicans, in the house of representatives. So every Congress Person was up for election. 435. So thats the purest. Sure. Vote in the united states. Democrats beat republicans by more than 7 f. There was a referendum on donald trump and his administration, he got creamed. I think thats what the numbers show. You mention young people turning out. It was also overall the highest midterm turnout in 50 years. Do you see that as a reaction to rump . You just talked about a rejective trump or do you see that as a wider liberal kooelgs coalition thats being built . I think its both, ari. Because i think there is no doubt that this president was on the ballot. He said, literally, pretend im on the ballot. I think for everybody going to the polls, they knew that at some level they were casting a judgment on what i think is this radical right wing group that has taken over washington, d. C. So thats unquestionable true. But our point always was, that more than half of american citizens dont really vote in a midterm. What we were trying to do is to go to those people, the people that dont think the system works for them, the people that dont think april parties tell the truth. Them them to participate, to show their power to vote. So we get a better answer. You have been using your power to advocate the democrats should impeach this president. What is the high crime in your view that would justify that . Oh my gosh, ari. I think two most obvious. We asked constitutional scholars, they came up with nine. Ill give you the two that are the most obviously. One is the corruption. It says in the constitution the president can never take a payment from a foreign country. This president takes payments from a foreign country every single day. Hes for seam. They know it. Hes buying. Its obviously true on a daily basis. The second is obstruction of justice. If you look at the last three days. Just the last three days. Its happened since he got into office. But in the last three days, hes fired the attorney general and put in an acting attorney general who has publicly written an oped saying the Mueller Investigation should be reined in. Its out of control the witch hunt and he said, mr. Trump said on wednesday, if the house of representatives performs its constitutional function of oversight of this president , that if the democrats do what the Constitution Orders them to do as their job, that he will adopt a quote warlike stance toward them. He will investigate them mccarthy style. Look, tom, you have been a great guest on our program. I think on the legal questions around impeachment. I dont know if you are right. We have to see what mueller find and the full report shows. On the blue wave, i this i the facts balk up in your victory lap. We seen that happen. I have to fit in a break. Thank you very much. Thank you for having me. In 30 seconds, Lawrence Odonnell joins me on that very blue wave. Democrats roared this week crushing donald trump with the blue wave. They netted the highest seats in 40 years. Its been taking days to count the votes. Tonight we see this edge is actually growing backing democrats by over 6 million votes, americans did with a 6 margin. A wave election proving some predictions wrong. Toornt there was soonight, t some hope there will be a wave election. There whether not be a wave election. There was a wave election as we have been reporting on this show this week. Take a look at dem results in the past 40 years. This is the number of seats they won in every race when they won any seats ats ey won in every race when they won any seat and right here, this is what they just one this week. Are you looking at a prompted 35 seats, the largest gain for democrats in four decades. More than any other election since the democratic wave against nixon which was historically unpopular because of his criminal presidency. Unpe of his criminal presidency if these facts we have been reporting depart from what you hear elsewhere this week, thats because donald trump and his allies have been down playing and lying about the results. We won a lot of elections last night. We did very well last night. It was not the blue wave that a lot of people predicted. This is probably a rare opportunity to see mcconnell smile. It is indeed a good morning for senate republicans. A lot of that is spin, as bob dillon once explains. Once a falsehood is out there. The newspapers all go along for the ride. Id have to say when you look at whats going on here tonight, this is not a blue wave. This is not a wave that is knocking out all sorts of republican incumbents. That was on Election Night. Did we hear that right . This is not a blue wave. This is not a wave that is knock out all sorts of republican incumbents. The point here is, not which particular people missed the wave or behind early predictions instead of whiting to see what the voters actually said. You could see the headlines, some of the best out. Les in the press did that, including the washington post. We rely on their reporting all the time. All of this matters because some in the media still dont get it the mistake in 2016 was not predicting the race in the wrong direction, it was trying to predict the outcome at all. And now pundits think their mistake was underestimating trump in their prediction and are correcting that by under estimating the blue wave in their predictions. Guess what, theyre all still predicting instead of listening. When we listen to the voters, who we only get to hear from every two or four years, we can hear them. R from every two or four years, we can hear them. Rejecting trump, choosing democrats in every president ial race here except one and choosing democrats and rejecting trumpism roundly this week. I now turn to Lawrence Odonnell host of the last word. Thanks for joining me. When you see the blue wave this large and some people watching as you know thinking, gosh, that wasnt what it sounded like we were hearing tuesday and wednesday, why is that . Its because, ari, we have this whole new sensation about what it feels like when the house of representatives changes power. The first time in my lifetime, in my lifetime, that that happened where i watched the house of representatives change power was in 1994 election. For 40 years, 40 years before that, the democrats controlled the house of representatives and was every reason to think they were going to control the house of representatives forever. Ever since 19 know, weve seen the house now go back and forth in relatively short spans of time compared to the older pattern. So people have started to get the idea that it is easy to win the house of representatives. Right. It is the hardest thing you could ul do in politics by far, especially when the party in power is capable of the kind of gerrymandering weve seen. This is really 21st century gerrymandering. Remember when democrats were trying to gerrymander the house as they were in areas they were in control of in the 20th century, they didnt have computer modeling. They didnt have all the of the assets and all of the incredible microdata about the individual voters who live in the different neighborhoods as they were carving those things up. So these are, the republican, 21st century republicans are the best gerrymanderers in history and the democrats had to run against that. And somehow pull out a win. The other thing weve seen is even where they didnt pull out wins, they made every republican in the country suddenly feel insecure. If you cant feel secure and safe as a republican senator in texas, then you are not safe anywhere. Are you not supposed to squeak one out in texas if you are the republican senator. You are not supposed to, you know be in any kind of tight race as a republican running statewide in georgia. There is not supposed to be any tension in any of that. So these are massive changes and you know people, republicans who used to win with 20point margins are now worried about in their next reelection am i going to have a twopoint margin . Thats a real life changer. So you laid out those fundamental also, including the jerri mandering the computer modeling the founders had no idea could be accused by politicians so they could pick the voters. Against that you get a 40 year pick judgment. On these Election Nights there is so much swirling around you are deep in the weeds. When you pulled back on the if you would also, what do you think about the fact that the democrats delivered this against a reasonably good economy . A reasonably low Unemployment Rate and in an environment where in many states there were very credible efforts that Republican Voters suppression. Well, the economy is kind of the biggest ignored component of this whole things. James carvel who we saw in your clips there, is very famous, created that line now that lives in an iconic space in politics. Its the economy, stupid. Thats what he written in the socalled war room of the Clinton Campaign in 1992 the winning campaign. Stay on the economy. The president ial campaign is about the economy. Not now. Because you couldnt have better economic statistics. So what were those voters voting against . What was it that these voters were rising up against . It wasnt the economy. It was donald trump. It was trumpism. It was the party that used to call itself the Republican Party that is now the trump party. It was a resistance to all of that. Hmm. Before i let you go, Michelle Obama doesnt get political or specific all that often. She does other broader things. But in her new book, she says directly that trumps xenophobic birther attacks you and others confronted as racist attacks is something she should never forgive him for. She should never forgive it and the press for allowing it to go on the second he started talking about it on my program, i called him a liar and said what he was doing was lying. And that word i was using lie and liar was fought acceptable in the American News media. The New York Times never said that donald trump was lying about that. And 99 of the news media never said he was lying about. That donald trump learned the lesson. He could lie. He could get away with it the news media would not even call it a lie. They were afraid to call it a lie. So barack obama and his family were left to deal with this versus the crazy trump machine and it was the lie that ignited the entire raging madness of trumpism that we live with now. And i blame the news media for failing to confront the Foundation Ally of trumpism about that birth certificate. Look, you serve in government. You have embedded into the media, obviously. I think its useful for us to consider as we live with these problems, one of the themes we discussed is what happens if the media gets pulled along or becomes an agent of intolerance or lies, because that is a problem for civil society. Laumpbs odonnell, thank you for making time for me. Well be watching you tonight 10 00 p. M. On the last word as always. Coming up, fallback with George Clinton, carol king and harry smith and we have Lindsey Graham confronted on fox news about hit own words about Jeff Sessions straight ahead. S about jeff ses straight ahead the fact is, there are over ninetysix hundred roads named park in the u. S. Its americas most popular street name. But allstate agents know thats where the similarity stops. If youre on park street in reno, nevada, the high winds of the Washoe Zephyr could damage your siding. And thats very different than living on park ave in sheboygan, wisconsin, where ice dams could cause water damage. But no matter what park you live on, one of 10,000 local allstate agents knows yours. Now that you know the truth, are you in good hands . Come fly with me, lets fly, lets fly away. Republican senator Lindsey Graham does a lot of interviews. And that means he has to confront his own lengthy interview record. You knif jeff session is fir there will be holy hell to be paid. Any effort to go after mueller could be the beginning the of the end of the trump presidency. Holy hell, the beginning of end . Look at him when confronted with that very clip. Where we are now, what do you say now . So when was that . What year . July of 2017. Things have changed. I think mr. Whitaker was a good pick. I think he will be as fair and impartial as Loretta Lynch were. And eric holder the bottom line is this is hysteria more than it is anything else. Graham trying to laugh that off. But its not funny to most people. In terms of grahams views on trump, lets be clear. He has abandoned his own publicly stated repeated convictions in exchange for what looks like now a certain proximity to being the trump. I think hes a cook. I think hes crazy. I think hes unfit for office. Endless attempt to label the guy as some kind of cook, not fit to be president. I dont believe hes a republican. His policies are really bad for the country. And number one i agree with him mostly. Hes a jackass. I like the president. I want to help him. Trumps Foreign Policy is a complete disaster. What President Trump has done is historic. He deserves the Nobel Peace Prize and then some. And then some. I want to be clear, there are Many Americans that generally support donald trump. There are plenty of reasons for them to feel that way and for us to debate politics civilly. What we are seeing here is important as senator lind will say graham descends deeper into pure self caricature of craven political hypocrisy, he has come to hollow you u oout a signific portion of the Republican Party. Hes a race baiting xenophobic religious bigot. I dont think he is a xenophobic race baiting as presidenure self caricature of presidensident. Ay graham descen presidenpresident say graham des presidenpresident. Its friday on the beat that means its time to fall back. We have a very special fallback tonight, hall of fame and rock n roller George Clinton. He led the funkadelic. Clintons collaborated across genres, hot chili peppers, tupac. Another rock n roll hall of famer, carol king, a fourtime grammy winner, Kennedy Center honoree. Amazing career. We have another award winner at the table. Mvp, harry smith, an Emmy Award Winning reporter, he interviewed barack obama and Margaret Thatcher and reported all over the world and my caller. George, who needs to fall back . Oh, i want to fall back on whoever is supposed to pay teachers. I think teachers work harder no matter what you do. For some reason theyre not treated like lawyers or doctors i think they should be that important. Thats always been my fallback. I think its just as good as the defense department, you know teachers making sure that we are taught to make decisions, to understand what we are getting ourselves into. They used to have that poster that said, maybe the pentagon should hold more bake sales and teachers should get enough money from the government. Carol, are you also a legend. Are you also a rock n roll hall of famer. On the street, we would recognize George Clinton first as clearly the hall of famer. She was the one i knew of when i started writing songs with the schaarelles in new jersey when they used to rehearse. My mama told me will you love me tomorrow . Yeah, will you love me. I like that. This could be a colaabo. We used to watch her songs. When tapestry came out it stayed on the charts forever. George, ki take you on the road with me . I guess we will talk a little music before we get to your fallback. Tappesty is run of those tapestry is one of those albums people buy and never stop listening to. Forever. Forever and ever. In the hall of fame with the red hot chili peppers. I grooved to george. You know, if i want to vacuum or Something Like that. We got the funk. We got the funk. Thats so simple. Carol, two needs to fallback if. Ryan zinke, secretary of the interior needs to fall back. I want to say with all these bells and whistles going on, coming out of the administration. No one is paying that much attention to the environment. But ryan zinke has this thought that hes putting in for permission. Normally, department versus to give all their records to the National Archives and ryan zinke wants per mission to destroy records. He to fall back. Im bringing this up because the public can nationally comment until november 26th, because you can, you should. Harry, who needs to fall back in your view . Tv. Good one. This is honestly excuse me. Every time you go someplace and someone says have you seen this thing, the streaming of this, the streaming of that and hbo and hulu and netflix and whatever. Its just like too much. So i did an interview with Julie Roberts a week or two ago, she has this amazing show called homecoming its really terrific. Im not sure i would have gotten to it i not been out to interview her, right. Its just too much. I watch you guys like streaming, all day long. Streaming . I stream on my phone or at home on tv, im looking at you guys all the time. A lot of people dont know when you said put a glide in your stride, you were talking about msnbc the mother ship. What is this . I knew you was going to have a glide in your stride. Vote power. Pfunk power. These are beautiful. Whats the doig. Thats medicaid fraud dog. That was my second fall back. Go ahead. Tell me about the medicaid fraud dog. Pharmaceutical companies, the government and Insurance Companies are in cahoots together. Educate yourself on the connection between meds, you know, obamacare, Insurance Companies, and lobbyists, they run this country. Its one nation under sedation. The only thing people know about drugs is street drugs. But they just they just put out another opiate yesterday stronger than the other one than the other one, and theyre the dope dealers of today. But theyre doing it in a legal way that most of us are sedated m some kind of way, legally, illegally, and nobody pays attention to it. So the dope dog is sniffing out the other money that they make on the drugs. I think you can get more people paying attention to the medicaid issue thats the biggest issue. After all this drama i have a question for you for real. Which is how do you stay funky . You are like an ageless cool. Watch your kids. The music that get on your nerve, thats the new funk. Thats always the new music. Music that you hate. Give yourself a minute and learn to like it, you in the game again. You said in the game. How did you feel when you were doing these collaborations and being sampled so much. Your work had a second and third life with these artists. Thats the only way to stay around to make sure im around to collect sooner or later. Would you say you made more off the samples than the original tours . I havent made anything about the samples. This is what you were talking to rev sharpton about . Yes. Im alive so i have a chance to reinvent myself to get paid. Can i ask a question. You see the sampling. Creativity is all about theres no original idea, you steal, picasso said if youre going to steal, steal from the best. Its not stealing. They do it the artists, im friends with them, they take the money from the artists but never give it to thats my question, if i hear it from you, do you ever get a dime of that . For the most part, myself, no. Lots of people do. But you have to figure a way because you dont have enough money to fight the big companies. Any fan of yours would say thats so messed up. Last question for each of you, you were in a period of a real civil rights, womens music, cultural awakening. Then it felt like it was the 80s, there was a lot of artists that wanted to stay out of politics. Are we seeing an emerging now that we see these artists talking about voting . I think its coming back. They took us backwards after the fights in the 60s it went back to the two cars and the Swimming Pool and everybody forget about voting. It was like why do it . They can see why do it now. All you got to do is look at the government now. You can see why you should have done it. Never been a time like this. Never. No. We thought it was bad in the vietnam war and we women were fighting for our rights and africanamericans were fighting, everybody was fighting for their rights. But now everybody you think its worse than vietn vietnam. A lot of kids were drafted to get killed in vietnam. I think its worse than vietnam because theres a ma lev nance to it i have never seen before. What do you say to people that say america is never going to be the same . It always change. The pen due lum swings back and forth all the time. Its a cycle. All these people are getting to hurt while its waiting to change. Thats whats killing me. People will suffer. Its going to suffer more if you dont think you have anything to do with it or you cant change it. Because somebody got to be a winner. And if the bad guy is going to be the winner because you didnt participate, thats part of your fault because you can participate.
