Bob mueller hired lawyers who in enron case have gone aggressively after family members. Obviously they have to make the case, facts fit the charge, but theyve done it clearly to dial up pressure. May be seeing that maneuver here, sake a listen to mike pence falsely minimizing the junior flynns role in the transition. General flynns son has no involvement in the transition whatsoever. He has a transition email. He has no involvement in the transition whatsoever. Put that in context. Its pretty clear that general flynns son was basically acting as his righthand man, not only before but after the election. This Paradise Papers leak driving the stories about wilbur ross and apple taxes, is also revealing something brand new about milners facebook money, came directly from putinrun company. Over 900 million routed from kremlins Gazprom Oil Company to another company in Virgin Islands that bought most of his company. Dont need to be expert to know you dont get that kind of money from putins companies without at least keeping in touch. Hes met with number two, specifically on tech issues. Same putin official that met with zuckerberg in person in 2012. Dressed up for that meeting and brought the man who serves as Prime Minister a tshirt. Thats nice. This isnt in the news today because of facebooks vaunted transparency, or because of the probes into russian collusion, only in the news tonight because of a giant pretty much unrelated leak of law firms files. Milner is downplaying this, he says he was quote, not aware that putins company backed this. And Facebook Says sold years ago and reject the idea they failed in Due Diligence. Even if true, dont address the problem to National Security. Could be ignorant or willfully blind but he knows hes down with the kremlin. And newly exposed link from kremlin money to Mark Zuckerberg that runs right through yuri milner. Keep that in mind for context about investments Jared Kushner failed to disclose that were linked to yuri milner. He had to revise forms about his assets including a tech Company Called cadre. This weekend kushner revised Financial Disclosures yet again, having inadvertently omitted 77 assets. Turns out he found more than 75 different assets his lawyer said he plumb forgot to reveal before. Two stood out, among most valuable assets, first a tech Company Called cadre. Tech Company Called cadre, founded by kushner family, apparently forgot to list. Oops. We founded this company but forgot it exists and didnt list it. That was exposed in july. Before he was busted, kushners lawyers made a big show how many assets he disclosed and divested. Lot of Trump Supporters saying media is always slamming mistakes around russia but we filed freedom of information act to report on kushner. I reported it looked like he was doing things by the book. By the book, credit from the media, that was in our report in february. But it didnt last because by july this cadre problem surfaced with kushner reporting he held between 5 million and 25 million, failing to disclose that in company your family founded not by the book. Yuri milner. You could argue there is nothing wrong with getting money from russian investor tied to the kremlin and working around putins allies, could argue not linked to the kremlin or any legally sanctioned russian could fund things in the United States. Not what kushner is argue. Asserting he doesnt use russian funds for businesses. I have not relied on russian funds for my businesses. And i have been fully transparent in providing all requested information. Yes, you have relied on those funds. Unless kushners lawyers told him he could deny relying on the russian funds so that everyone had listening thought he was not relying on russian money. Or parsing rely, had to use some russian funds but wasnt reliant or formally depend on them. Why lawyers are sometimes annoying. Questions are as always, why are rur forms so wrong so often . And when you update them, out all the countries in the world, why are they so often linked to russia . Questions for mark are building. Did you have evidence milners money linked back to the kremlin or did you prefer not to know . Did he know he talked tech with putins Prime Minister just like you did . And would you take it again . Idea that kremlin money flowed into facebook and twitter doesnt necessarily mean there is criminal liability. I suspect the special counsels team will be interested in looking at and tracing movement of the money. Could be honest to make good investments, could be Money Laundering frankly, could violate european, eu or british or United States laundering law if its proceeds from criminal activity does he have a handle on oligarchs when acting as Business People or more or less trying to pursue the interests of Foreign Government . Which is relevant to investigation of Foreign Government meddling. I think if he needs to develop that expertise, hell have access to witnesses and maybe other Government Resources to help him get that. That may be the crux. You say its unclear if moscow saw political interest in funding facebook or twitter or just to make money. People familiar with the situation say that facebook carried out discrete review before the ipo in 2012 and didnt draw firm conclusions. Were they worried specifically about this country or worrying about other countries . Our understanding is russia in particular. 2011 and 2012, even then were reports that russian intelligence in their own country were exploiting social media to put down social protest and arrest again and unrest against putin. Were wise that this could be a problem. Jared kushners pension to forgetting things that relate to russia . It will be interesting to see how much of this sticks and how. Somebody who has glided through life pretty easily so far. I wouldnt count him out but its significant. Do you think he is enough of a novice he would make deals with russia that could be illegal . Or doubt he would have that liability . He does have a law degree. I dont think hes a novice, i think hes sophisticated. Ive been impressed watching him in Trump Administration, how hes operating. A month ago the Republicanled Congress blew right past the deadline that forces states now to dip into emergency funds to even provide this health care for children. Our update for you tonight, the u. S. House has now moved and passed a vote to reauthorize the federal funding. That sounds like good news. But theyre doing Something Different than the way this has always been funded before. Republicans holding the childrens funding hostage to pick a fight with obamacare. And the entire issue will move to the senate. Now the gop is saying the only way to give the children the care here is to take away billions of dollars in need for other health care programs. Now in the past this hasnt been a partisan issue, to be honest, and we dont really view it that way there are 9 million children whose health care hangs in the balance. And four states will start to run out of funding by the end of this year in congressional calendar time. And time is very short. Emily piper, who runs the department of Human Service theres sent a warning letter to minnesotas delegation about the urgency, saying her Department Must take extraordinary measures to keep these kids covered. And just before this vote that happened that were updating you on, i spoke to her. I asked what she is hearing from families in her community. Well, thanks for having me today. I think families are just that receive chip and kids that receive chip are just like every other family. They want to make sure that they can take their kid to the doctor when they need to. That if theyre pregnant, youre not pregnant on a month by month basis. So they want to make sure they have prenatal coverage for themselves and for their babies. They want their family to be healthy. And they want the programs that we provide to work for them. As weve been covering, this used to be a bipartisan thing. Credit used to go to democrats and republicans for it. Now all of the sudden its the Republican Congress that blew through the deadline. And so the money that weve been tracking here, one of the beat producers found these figures. Got 3. 5 million extra just to get through this match period along with other states. How does that work . Are you blowing through that money . Are you worried about what happens when you run out of it . Well, were spending that money. And we got an emergency appropriation for the month of october. Well get another one for the month of november. But we have to make a decision this month as to how were going to try and pay for this really Important Program as a state and for how long can we based on moving money around and changing how we budget for as long as we can to ensure that people have coverage that they need. Yeah, this is the thing about it, emily. I get budgeting. I worked in the congress, and there are times where you say on a oneyear or tenyear plan, can you make cuts . But this isnt, that right . This isnt a larger discussion. This is people who claim they support the Childrens Health care, and now its getting delayed and kicked around by politicians. I guess the big question to you, is this any way that washington should be governed . Well, i dont think anybody thinks this is the way that washington should be governed. And i think ultimately, we all want programs that work for people. We spend a lot of money on Human Services programs. And one thing that we want is good outcomes for families. And funding on a monthbymonth basis basic health care for in minnesota about 125,000 kids is no way to accomplish the end goal that we want to achieve for those families, and that they want for themselves. Congresss dysfunction is working in its own worst interests when it does things like this, making states, forcing states to lurch month by month through these crises that theyre creating themselves.
