Iowa today. Casting the president as corrupt and shook over a prospective 2020 matchup with the current democratic frontrunner. Trumps doing this because he knows ill beat him like a drum. And hes using the abuse of power and every element of the presidency to try to do something to smear me. Everybody looked at this and everybodys looked at it and said theres nothing there. For the last 24 hours, the president has been at war on twitter. Where else . With biden and Congressional Democrats claiming controversy, this controversy is it just latest version of the socalled witch hunt as more house dems clam mor for impeachment and the president s allies are either silent or scrambling. In just a few minutes ill ask senator cory booker about the brewing war between congress and the white house and his revelation today that a lack of funds may push him out of the president ial race soon. First let me begin with my panel. Joining me now, sirius xm radio host danielle moodiemills and republican strategist joe watkins. Danielle, were talking about the president of the United States allegedly, according to reports, had a conversation with the president of ukraine. And according to one report in the wall street journal, asked eight times for the president of ukraine to talk with his personal criminal defense lawyer, selfdescribed, Rudy Giuliani about looking into and investigating joe bidens son and joe biden, of course, is leading in every poll ive seen that says he can beat President Trump. Is this raw politics using the office of the presidency . I mean, this is corruption. In a pattern in Donald Trumps administration. Hes showing every single time that he cannot win an election without foreign interference. This is exactly what he did in 2015. This is the basis of the Mueller Report. What did his campaign do with the russians, eskiand now here s again trying to get the president of ukraine to pull some strings for him to get the dirt that he needed. He told abc stephanopoulos the same thing, hey, figment foreign information, maybe ill report it, but ill definitely look at it. Donald trump is telling us to our face that the rules of this United States and the federal Election Commission mean nothing to him, and he can do what he wants. And right now we still have a Democratic Party thats not willing to hold him accountable for zig joe watkins, as a republican, forgetting the politics of it for a minute, we are talking about what could be illegal in the sense that if the president also in any way inferred that the 250 billion the congress had approved ukraine not long before this conversation was something that he could try to expedite or prolong, then were talking about national security, were talking about him really di disobeying the balance of powers. Theres serious implications here. This is why the whistleblower came forward. This whistleblower came forward and filed his complaint back in august because of the seriousness of this and what the whistleblower saw as an illegal act and clearly an act that could be impeachable as well. Well see what happens this week. Im anxious like everybody else to see what the dni head joe maguire has to say. Hedges before congress this week and has to testament theres got to be a reason why he ought to be sending that information to congress. Hes chosen not to. Atkinson thought it was important enough to send it to the dni. That information should have been sent to congress to they could have a chance to deal with this. He said this was of serious concern, so were not talking about something floated as a witch hunt. The ig himself said this is of serious concern, urgent concern. Thats right. And didnt fluff it off. Danielle, let our viewers understand. In a call between the president of the United States and the head of state, only very top intelligence people would be privy to the call or listening to the call. So were not talking about just some random white house staffer. Were talking about someone that had to be wellplaced to have witnessed this. Absolutely. Were talking about the fact that donald trump has created an ecosystem around him of people that will protect him at the risk of their own reputations, at the risk of their own character, at the risk of our nations security. And these are things that are troubling. This is why this whistleblower taking this leap to do this is so important. But to the point that was just made, you risk your entire reputation and the rest of your career to do so because what we are seeing in this country right now is that we are at a loss for facts, were at a loss for spines and call this president out and check him. The Mueller Report didnt check him because nancy pelosi refuses to check him, and he keeps just Going Forward and doing what he wants to do. This is similar to what hes done in israel with netanyahu calling up his buddy and saying, hey, dont allow those two women of color to enter this country. I dont like them. Maybe ill give you a little somethin somethin on the side. Without checks and balances, its just going to continue. Joe, the other part of this that becomes very interesting is all of a sudden for no reason that he could put our finger on Mitch Mcconnell, whos been blocking everything, all of a sudden now supports a 250 million bill to look at foreign interference in the elections. Is that a signal that maybe even this whistleblower thing has mcconnell saying i better cover myself here, there may be some things going on because first it was the allegation in the 2016 election as danielle referred to about russia. Now were talking about ukraine being asked to dig up dirt on the son of his potential rival. From your lips to gods ears. Clearly if Mitch Mcconnell is prepared to do the right thing, especially because of what hes heard from the whistleblower, thats a good thing, thats a step in the right direction. This is a huge challenge. Its a challenge for nancy pelosi too, for whom i have great respect, because if she just does what a majority of the members ant her to do, shell move forward on the issue of impeachment. But shes concerned about the political cost for those members, those democrats who are in trump districts or in swing districts, the cost they have to pay if they came out in favor of impeachment for this president so i think nancy pelosi is trying to protect those democrats right now because she wants to keep her democrat majority in the house. And so shes not prepared to move forward in this because of the politics of that. But theres tremendous pressure for her to do whats right, and the question is going to be whats she going to do. Danielle, a lot of people, including myself and probably you, want to know who the whistleblower is. I dont know how that remains secret for so long. But theres also an interesting aspect ive been saying to people, is that the whistleblower was not within the with this toplevel intelligence that heard this conversation. If you were party to it and know someone has revealed it, you may come out and confirm what has been said if for no other reason you dont want to be exposed as someone who had the information and didnt turn this into the Inspector General. I think that everybody involved in this who had even a little bit of insight into what potentially was going on with this administration and with the government of ukraine, they need to get their papers in order. They need to get themselves some talking points because there are going to be a lot of questions. As a communications person, i would tell them, yes, you should get ahead of the story and not behind. It that means the white house has to be in full panic mode or at least super concerned because you got to worry about the whistleblower, but you have to worry about those that are in that small enclave of people that were party to this saying wait a minute, im not going to fall with this if, in fact, this whistleblower ends up going public or if they proceed with this and force the Inspector Generals orders to hand us this congress and this goes public, because youre left as part of the fallout here, what has been reeled now is something as serious as you can get. Absolutely right, rev. Thats exactly what the challenge is. Certainly if i were working in the white house, i would be panicked about whether or not this whistleblower comes out. Youre absolutely right. Danielle, the politics of this, donald trump, everyone knows, particularly those that have known him in new york, fights dirty. And i think that its no shock to anybody he would want to get something on joe bidens son or joe biden himself, even if they had to embellish it or make it up. The politics of this, though, in terms of how joe biden responds and the democrats, what is their challenges . I think that joe bidens response today was great that i think him saying ill beat donald trump like a drum and that hes putting his attack and focus on him is great. I believe the Campaign Needs to be really clear about turning this narrative on donald trump, his criminal behavior, his obstructionist acts hes done, and the fact that he is constantly in bed in precarious situations with foreign entities, and that is a problem. They need to remind the American People every day that this story remains in the headlines, they need to remind the American People exactly what donald trump was accused of doing in the Mueller Report, exactly what he did with netanyahu in israel, and what hes doing right now with the ukraine. They cannot let this lie and just come up with quips like ill beat him like a drum, which is great, but they need to remind the American People that donald trump is crooked, a criminal, and a liar. Joe, some of the republicans facing tough senate races, when do they say, wait a minute, this is getting too far . Im not going to go down with the ship, the trump ship, that is. I wish they would already be out and speak truth to power. The fact of the matter is for many members, theyre concerned about retaining their seat and position in the senate. Theyre not going to say anything thats going to either raise the ire of the president or potentially allow them to lose their seat. If youre blessed to be an elected official, to be in the u. S. Senate or house of representatives, people put you in that position to represent them, do whats right. Do whats right, be honest, be true, and speak truth to power. Thats why youre there. Thats what will make the kian better place in which to live. Thats what makes our nation stronger. Im fearful not too many will do that. I think reverend watkins said it right. Thats why youre there. Danielle moodiemills and joe watkins, thank you. Coming up, president ial candidate senator cory booker says the next 10 days will decide whether he stays in the president ial race. Hes with us next to explain. But first, my colleague richard lui with todays top news stories. Richard . Thanks, rev. Stories were watching this hour. Today 2020 Democratic Candidates are joining thousands of iowans in des moines for the annual steak fry. While they hope it will boost their profile with voters, others are sounding the alarm. This morning cory booker is warning his supporters that without a huge uptick in fundraising, the new jersey senator wont be able to stay in the race. Lets ask the candidate himself. Joining me live from iowa, senator cory booker. Senator booker, i know youre campaigning there. Thank you for doing this first interview one on one since the alert came out. What made you make this appeal . Is this a strategy to raise money or are you saying i want to put a goal post there and if i reach it, i can go ahead stronger. If i dont, im going to fold the tent . Whats happening here . Look, this is one of those truth and love moments. We have benefited from hundreds of americans supporting our campaign and we have built perhaps one of the top few campaigns in this race. Here in iowa we have more endorsements than any other candidate. But i want to be truthful with folks. In this Fourth Quarter we wont be able to cut a way to victory if we dont have the resources and our trajectory fundraising was flat at a time you need to be ramping up. I dont believe this should be an endeavor of ego. Im not in this just for my own vanity. Im in it to win it. To have a Winning Campaign and to be honest the , we need to money. If you want my voice in this race, if you see me on the debate stage, feel im calling to the conscious, help me stay in the race goes to work to cory booker. Com and contribute. You have been very clear and performed very well in the debates around the issues of criminal Justice Reform, gun control, Fair Distribution of wealth in this country. Do you think that those issues that you have focused on probably as much or more than the other candidates has in some ways not appealed to a lot of people that could give money and that now with this alarm that maybe people will understand that if they were with you on these issues, theyre going to have to go and dig in their pocket . Well, ive been running my whole life on moral issues. I ran across the whole state of new jersey talking about criminal Justice Reform and environmental justice. Again, from New Hampshire to iowa, we are winning the endorsement game. Local leaders, people in the grassroots, elected people to state houses, we have more endorsements than any of the other candidates. But the challenge is a lot of people are sitting back right now and they think, hey, i see cory on the debate stage, things are going well, and not understanding were not going to be able to change anything unless all of us get involved. This is moment in my life, in my campaign that i need your help. People who believe in my or believe in my message want me to stay on the stage. This is the really good news, is that already on the first day of this weve raised more than 10 to that goal. People are responding. We have 90 of the way to go, but today already were seeing people start to respond. And im really just putting it out there. The plain truth, fierce transparency. We cannot continue this race unless we get more help. I hope people will respond. Now, youre saying that today already youve already reached 10 of the goal. Let me ask you this. Yes, sir. Since were dealing with truth and transparency, which you always said you would. If you dont make it by the 30th, i believe, midnight the 30th is what the letter that was sent out says, will you then not be in the next debate which youve already qualified for on october 15th . Al, you and i both know theres too many people in this race that dont have a pathway. Im never going to tell somebody else what to do with their campaign, but i have a moral compass and i got in this race to win this nomination and beat donald trump. We are on a pathway to do that right now, but if we dont have the resources, were just taking up space. And so im not going to stay in this race if we dont have the resources to win it. This is not an exercise in vanity for me. I got in this race because of fierce values that i thought this country needs to come together to heal, to deal with injustices, frankly, as the only person in this race that lives in a black and Brown Community below the poverty line, i see the urgency of economic injustice. I bring up issues like dont talk about legalizing marijuana, you better expunge records. If you feel this voice, one of the consciousness of this primary, then please support me. If theres no pathway, people should now in this Fourth Quarter four months before the first primary here in the state, they should allow this party to start to unify around a set of candidates that can win and beat donald trump. Right now im one of those people, but to stay in it, i need help. Do you feel that if you for whatever reason dont reach the goal and that you do step out of the race and youre not in the next debate, will you then be supporting one of the other contenders . Will you give direction to all the people who think carry your message more closely than the others . Axillary you and i are people of faith, and im walking by faith, not by sight. Im claiming it in the name of my faithful, my faith. So im not going to entertain that because you and i both know when youre in a moment with your back against the wall and youre reaching out for help and support, you need to put yourself in that positive mentality and attract that energy. We have a Winning Campaign that needs to be sustained. Im a prisoner of hope. I believe as the ram and the bush save someone, as david was able to beat goliath, this time in other elections, jimmy carter was at 1 or 2 . Bill clinton was barely registering at the polls. At this time barack obama was 20 points behind hillary clinton. This is moral imagine of a nation. We are going to get through this storm, this dark period, because of the help of other people. If that doesnt happen and i step out of the race, i will come here for, you know it, to talk to you about my perspective as someone on the outside. Right now im on the debate stage and im going to stand up and hope people will help out when the need is there. Let me ask you a quick one and ill let you go. Youre a vegan. Im a vegetarian, what do you do at a steak fry in iowa, cory . They had a vegan line that, man, flipping veggie burgers. Ron finley in South Central says we have drive biz and drivethroughs, and the drivethroughs are killing more people than the drive bies. Thank you so much for being with us. Thank you, al. Love you, man. God bless. You god bless you. Switching topics, the fight to obtain the president s tax returns continues full steam this week. And the tax fight has developed into a multifront war for the trump administration. Despite a minor victory in california where a federal judge halted wall that would have kept the president off the ballot if he doesnt release his tax returns, that is set to continue in higher courts. Meanwhile the president is suing Manhattan District Attorney cyrus vance to stop the d. A. From gaining access to trumps financial records while looking into the trump organization. Joining me now is michigan congressman dan kildee, chief deputy whip of the House Democratic caucus and a member of the house ways and Means Committee. Thank you for being with me tonight, congressman. Thanks, rev. The fight over president Donald Trumps tax returns, youre in the house ways and means. I mean, is this me or is this crazy that he is fighting at all levels of the courts and the congress to not have his tax returns made public . If im sitting watching this, why is it so important that we see the president s tax returns . Is this just nitpicking or is there a real, sound reason why the American People should have the right to see the tax returns . Theres a very sound reason. This president broke half a century of precedent by not releasing his tax returns as he promised he would when he was running for president in the first place. Its becoming increasingly obvious that theres something he just does not want people to know. He said he would release them. Can of course, he says a lot of things. Now hes fighting every way he can to prevent his own promise from being kept in the first place. We have sued to make sure that we can enforce the law. The irs tax code section 6103 of the code says the chairman of the ways and Means Committee can request a tax return and it shall be delivered to him. Shall be, its not ambiguous. It doesnt have to be for any particular purpose, but in our case we have a legitimate purpose. Were trying to determine if we need to pass laws to affect the way a president is audited and how the tax code is enforced on the president of the United States. Having a look at those would inform the deliberations. The president said he would release his tax returns, he pretends he cant do it because hes under audit. We dont know if hes under audit at all, and he can release them even though he is. Its important to know whether the president s financial interest is somehow affecting his public decisionmaking. Now, youre one of the leaders of the House Democratic caucus. How has this last 48 hours where this whistleblower story has come forward, how has that impacted the growing number of democrats that are now signing on saying we need to deal with impeaching this president . Im anxious to talk with some of my colleagues. I have been in favor of an impeachment inquiry for quite some time just based on the evidence that i read, even in the Second Chapter of the second volume of the Mueller Report. This question really raises the ante quite a bit as to whether or not the president would engage a foreign power to investigate one of his political opponents and may have offered we dont know until we see the information may have offered something in exchange for that. Im not a lawyer , but i tell you, i know right from wrong. The way i was raised in flint, michigan, thats wrong. That is not being a patriot. There are two issues with this whistleblower question. One, what did the president say, what was that exchange . And what moved an individual in the Intelligence Community to blow the whistle. It had to be top intelligence to be part of this call. To be listening on that call, to be read in on that call it would have to be a fairly very and quite experienced person. Thats one question. The other question, which in many ways is as important, is that the president is flaunting the law. Atl there is a the law requires that whistleblower information to be supplied to the Intelligence Committee. Thats the law. Thats the law. Its not a suggestion. Automatically the whistleblowers information goes to congress. Even a trumpappointed Inspector General who wrote to the Intelligence Committee chair initially and said this information should be provided to you to raise the question in the first place wrote again eight days later and said that he disagrees with the judgment made by the director of National Intelligence or the acting director of National Intelligence. This is a serious issue. Let me ask you before we run out of time. You also are a congressman in michigan and you were involved in the uaw strike against general motors. That is the update and the rationale behind the strike . We havent seen a strike like this in many years. Its been a while. That is strike to get back much of what those uaw members gave up in order to keep that company from disappearing. You know, the federal government stepped up and the workers stepped up when gm was almost ready to fold. Bailed them out. Bailed them out. The company in the last three years has made over 30 billion in profit. 30 billion with a b . Billion with a b, and tons move work away from american factories like in lordstown or in warren, michigan. South of the border to mexico. What the workers are saying is we were there, not the mexican workers are the mexican government. The American People were there when the company needed them in order to stay alive. Now, you know, all of a sudden the stock holders are making money hand over fist, the executives are taking in big bonuses and great salaries. And the workers are just saying we should have our fair share of that incredible profit youre not generating, and i think thats a reasonable argument. I stand with those workers. Congressman dan killdee, thanks for being with us. 2020 cds flocking to the hawk eye state, including gartu gabbard. Multiple photos surface this weekend of canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wearing brown or blackface, including one published in a 2001 beyond the arc who when trudeau was a 29yearold teacher and certainly old enough to understand the painful and racist history of darkening ones skin purely for entertainment. He has since apologized. Let me tell you where i stand on this issue. In public life we have all erred and made mistakes. You should own it, you should come forward and be transparent. All of us have said ive said things that i should not have said. Ive been accused of saying things i didnt say, but thats another thing. Even using the nword ive admonished not to do and i was wrong when i did it, but putting on blackface or brown face is a little bit more than using street talk or locker room talk or words that got out that you didnt intend. When you deliberately four or five times do something that the only purpose of it is to mock the people that you are darkening your skin for, thats a step beyond just words that you can correct or that you can say was not your intention to in any way try and provoke hate toward those people or to marginize their humanity. Lets not forget for those that say thats canada, not the United States where there was slavery, many of those that escaped slavery, many of those that took that underground railroad of Harriet Tubman went to canada. Canadians know the story of racism, and they know the only reason you put on blackface is to mock and make comedy out of those people. Prime minister Justin Trudeau who won a lot of people of colors votes in canada should have known better and should have been more open about it when he ran the first time and is going to have to deal with the october 21st when they have next election. By the way, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, i gotcha. Its not just easy. Its havingjeromebettis onyourflagfootballteam easy. Yesterday morning new york city mayor bill de blasio announced that hes suspending his president ial campaign. Weeks after he failed to qualify for this months debate. As we heard minutes ago from cory booker, the new jersey senator may also have to quit if he cant raise nearly 2 million in the next ten days. Another candidate struggling to break through is congresswoman tulsi gabbard, who right now is fighting to make the cut for the next debate by an october 1st deadline. And the hawaii democrat joins me now live from des moines at the iowa steak fry. Congresswoman, thank you for taking time to come on the show. Let me ask you, are you going to set a goal, a marker that would determine whether you continue as senator booker has done . Or are you going to continue on no matter what . Im continuing on. Were taking our campaign to every single voter across these early states bringing this message of the change we need to see to get away from this government that is of, by, and for the rich and powerful, leaving the people behind and to truly lead a government that is of, by, and for the people, bringing these soldiers values that are at the core of every service member, putting people ahead of profits, putting people ahead of politics, putting people first. Now, you heard mayor de blasio say ethere was no use going on if he could not raise himself in the polls and show more support. And if he couldnt raise the money, cory booker saying he needs to raise the money. Do you feel you are wasting some of your supporters time if you dont, in fact, show more support . You did make the last debate. You are struggling to make the next one. At one point do you say i do not want to disappoint by supporters . Theres a lot of time in this election. Were here in iowa today, over 10,000 people came out, many of whom are still undecided and thinking about who they want to vote for. They are the ones who have the most Important Role in deciding who our democratic nominee will be who will defeat donald trump, not the dnc in washington. I think this is the problem here. One of the problems is theres been a lack of transparency coming from the dnc about which polls they deem as qualifying and which ones they dont. For my campaign we far surpassed the dncs grassroots donor requirement long ago with the polling. There are now over 30 credible polls that show i have met or competed the dncs requirement of 2 . The dncs only chosen to recognize two of those over 30. So there are these arbitrary requirements that the dnc has assessment what i am focused on is the people. It is voters who will make this decision and were pushing our campaign forward and getting a tremendous response all across iowa. Congresswoman, in the last debate that you were in, you were not in the last debate but the one before that, you challenged senator Kamala Harris on her criminal justice record as prosecutor. In your own career, what have you done around the issue of criminal justice, and is that one of the main issues youre running on . It is a very central issue. To many of the issues the American People are facing, and i think its critical for us to reform. As president i would continue to carry forth on some of the changes ive been working on throughout my nearly seven years in congress. I was proud to be a part of the passage of the First Step Act a key Prison Reform bill that passed through Congress Several months ago that was signed into law by President Trump and has resulted now in thousands of people who were previously imprisoned now being brought back together with their families. I have the only bipartisan bill in the United States congress that will end the federal marijuana prohibition, an important first step to begin to end this failed war on drugs. Weve got to end cash bail. We have to get rid of private prisons. Weve got to deal with the systemically broken criminal Justice System that takes people who need help, whether its Mental Health care or help dealing with Substance Abuse and addiction, take them out of the criminal Justice System and make sure they get the help that they need. Are you trying to make it to the deadline, are you trying to qualify for the next debate . Or are you going on no matter what, im not even going to make an attempt like cory bookers trying to do . No. Look, i mean, these debates are a great platform to get in front of a lot of people, but my campaigns forward progress is not hinging on the dncs arbitrary requirements. Debate or no debate, im continuing to take my message through every platform possible, whether its through town halls, door knocks, phone calls, or social media, being able to talk on shows like yours, to reach voters across this country about the tremendous stakes were facing, that the most important responsibility the president has is to serve at commander in chief. President trump is showing how critical that is as hes making decisions to further escalate this cycle of retaliation with iran over saudi arabia that will lead to an allout inferno all across iran and the middle east, a that are that would be more devastating than i or any of my brothers or sisters experienced in the war in iraq. Im running for president to put an end to this insanity. Congress one of my tulsi gabbard, i know you are also a vegan as senator booker is. Im a vegetarian. So be careful out there at the steak fry in iowa. Thank you for being zero they had great vegan burgers out here. Thats what he told me. Im watching you guys. Thank you for being with us. Lets switch gears. On friday the worlds youth made a statement to its leaders, do something about Climate Change. From new york city to nairobi, kenya, millions of people, many of them students from more than 150 countries took to the streets for a truly global demonstration against climate inaction. Im proud to say that among the demonstrators were young people from my organization, the National Action network. Im even prouder to say these young people of color are connecting the dots between Climate Change and its effects on their communities, their futures, and ultimately their children. Joining me now is diamondeqe johnson who led a youth delegation here in new york city. I wanted to have you on because a lot of people do not understand that when the young people went out there yesterday, it made me so proud. I was in kansas city, and when i heard in several cities some of the people saying this is a civil rights issue as well. Why is that civil rights issue you to you . It is a civil rights issue because, a, black people are not being able to give that platform to say that we are affected by Climate Change. There are a lot of ways that we can help with Climate Change as in for example a nice way is a lot of people that looks like me and you are talking about the housing projects. Of course. We could put solar panels in. That can Renewable Energy which kind of lowers our Climate Change and just put us in a better Renewable Energy process, a way of life. Now, could we also see that black communities are disproportidisproe por disproportion natal to see young people wake up to this and to find this in their community is something that i dont think gets enough attention. It is not. Ive seen so many people of color with different o organizations there that Global Warming is a problem, it is affecting the amazon, the way our food is processed. Just the everyday living. And for people that looks like me that was mainly people of color saying you know what, this is a problem and were here no matter what color, no matter what race, no matter where you come from saying this is all a problem and making sure that we have a foot print or a say in what is going on with the global and one of the things that i think was also impressive is that it was so diverse. You had young people of all races as you said marching together, millions around the world, no violence. Yes, no violence. Which is something that i think people should emphasize and marching in unity even though they may have approached the issue from different backgrounds and circumstances. They stood together. Do you feel that we are seeing activism whether it is gun progress with the parkland march and now with this climate march where people are understanding i dont have to give up my identity to be part of a collective progressive kind of statement . Absolutely. People with the march with gun violence and the march yesterday within the Global Warming, those are all impacts that affect us. They are killing us fast and killing us slowly. And yesterday i think the march is no matter if it has to do with politics or Global Warming, it will affect youth and it will affect our way of living. Either kill us slowly or kill us immediately and that is what i really think woke up the youth yesterday. And so when it comes time to having a Global Warming change march or antigun violence march, you will see the same people there. You are not even old enough to be a millennial yet and you are out there. And i saw a sign on one of the newscasts saying you have your future, now give us ours. And i think that it is nothing but great to see young people coming as you have to the National Action network. Very good. Thank you very much. I wanted to say how proud many of us are. On this past thursday, the House Judiciary Committee had a hearing on policing. And talked about what could be done to deal with the constant problem of Police Misconduct that keeps coming up particularly in black communities. There was a panel of law enforcement, activists like myself, and conservatives that testified before the panel. Congressman Hakim Jeffries announced a federal antichoking bill that he would be introducinintroduce i ing as the mother of eric garner was one of those that testified. We see in california there has been the Stephon Clark bill that was passed named after young unarmed man killed by police last year. And he was just 300 feet from his grandmothers bedroom, he was in the backyard, unarmed and the police said, oh, we thought that his cellphone was a gun. Every generation, every era has to face issues of civil rights and one of the issues in this generation, this era, that many of us have spent years on is dealing withholding police accountable. It is not antipolice, it is pro police. Because good police who risk their lives every day, it would give them a Bad Reputation and give them a sense of mistrust in many communities is the bad police that are never held accountable. It is time for federal law, though some state lenlgtsz lay churs in new york announced the no chokehold bill in the harlem raleigh, we need federal law. And we need to do it not only for the victims, we need to do it for good police so we can have again a Community Police relationship birlt on trust and built on working together to keep crime down. I salute chairman jerry nadler for doing the right thing hearing all sides even though we may disagree with how to get there, it is where we need to get that is the important thing and the federal government has a responsibility to address the issues of this generation. That does it for me. Thanks for watching. Ill see you back here tomorrow at 5 00 p. M. Eastern for a new live edition of politics nation. Up next, richard lui picks up with our coverage. Live on msnbc. Hello, im richard lui live at msnbc headquarters in new york city. Right now were keeping an eye on a busy day in iowa, two Major Political events taking place in the 2020 race.
