How are you going to fact check this, amy, what he said, what would fit . Where do you think this is going to end up falling on the truth scale . Its too soon to tell. Its a complicated process to that. But i think i dont know if hes totally true there. I mean, i dont think it jives with the things weve reported before, the things we new before. The idea that this is not a surprise, that this just this matches everything hes been telling us, that definitely doesnt match up. What does this have resonance . I ask because, you know, look. Ive had republicans quietly whisper to me, this didnt hurt rick scott. You know, referring to all of the attacks on him and his business background. What happened to him. Is there a sense that either floridians have a high tolerance . Or we have a high tolerance for the sleaze factor. But, you know. These races are 1 races. And so at some point in the very end youre going to have some tiny sliver thats just making up their mind, and im guessing the next couple of weeks were going to be hearing a lot about fbi investigation of gillum, and that could matter. If you were to pick out what are the three or four issues, has this been an issue hive driven race at all anywhere, on either side . Trump. Is it . Is it just that simple . Is there stuff underneath . Theres definitely stuff underneath. Is the red tide resonating a little bit . A pac today said it was too hard, they tried to raise 10 million, they could only raise 250,000, theyre pulling out. I dont think thats been as resonant an issue. I think the economy, im shocked thats not a bigger issue, even for rick scott. He should be running away with it, as good as the economy is. Thats because its murky. The economy, the numbers look good but people havent seen their incomes theres some statistic, 44 of all floridians are struggling to make ends meet and pay their bills by the end of the month. The numbers might look good, but a lot of people arent feeling it havent felt the good economy. What do you make of the red tide . Is the going to be a voting issue on election day . If it is, is this something rick scotts got to worry about . Its absolutely on peoples minds. I havent seen polling. Im not sure where people have decided to put the blame. Rick scott is the most likely candidate to take some of that blame. Weve seen in the primary he had a token opponent, some of those counties like Martin County that are republican strongholds, he did really badly. So there is some backlash. It is interesting to me to watch the run thing that it seems both desantis and gillum agree on he hate sugar. Maybe to say its motivation and something to do with adam put numb and the amount of money sugar spent to defeat desantis. That has to at least is that possibly neutralizing . Theyre both on the same save who theyre pointing the finger at . Its definitely not what theyre fighting about. Red tide, health care, health care, we know thats front of mind. That was thats a key dividing point between these gubernatorial candidates in terms of how they want to address that issue. But i still think trump is the overwhelming thing. Either youre happy with the job trump is doing as president and you see desantis as the person who can, as he said in the debate, the person whos friends with him, is going to be able to make things happen, dont you want a guy who can get him on the phone . Or, i dont like the way the countrys going, im not happy with it, i want something different. Does gillum have coat tails . I think hes a big gift to bill nelson whos a boring, milquetoast a lot of democrats ademocra democrats he wouldnt like the laughter. Most people would say, nice guy, been there forever, gillum is going to get people that wouldnt normally vote to turn out in big numbers. We came to this area in particular because if there is a collegeeducated white vote in florida, its basically south of tampa down to naples. Wouldnt you say . What do you give me one area to watch for specifically that will tell you whether thats real, this crossover, whether weak republicans have become democratic voters . I havent found them. One area would be just the north part of tampa bay, pascoe county, western pascoe county. These are a lot of people that voted for obama and voted for trump. The ones i talk to still like trump.
