For cruz in the primary last week, saying it was time to take back the country. Fiorina immediately launching into an attack on cruzs rivals. Donald trump and Hillary Clinton are two sides of the same coin. Theyre not going to reform the system. They are the system. Hillary clinton has made millions of dollars selling access and influence from the inside, and donald trump has made billions of dollars buying people like Hillary Clinton. They are the system. They will not reform it. And joining me now, ron naehring, National Spokesperson for the Cruz Campaign. Senator cruz at this rally still going on said that this endorsement from Carly Fiorina is a sign that the party is coalescing behind him. You obviously know that people will say Carly Fiorina had a failed campaign. So how is that a sign that the party is now coalescing around him . You know, i have known Carly Fiorina for some time. I was the chairman of the California Republican party when she was our nominee for the United States senate in 2010. She was a very, very, and still is, a very powerful spokesperson. She has a constituency in the Republican Party. Shes going to be a great asset to the cruz team going forward. Its clear ted cruz has a tremendous amount of momentum. Hes only 99 delegates behind donald trump. The field continues to narrow. Most republicans dont want donald trump to be the nominee. As the race becomes a twoperson race, those republicans who want an alternative to donald trump, a proven conservative, will have an opportunity to nominate ted cruz. This is terrific news. Were very excited about it. How is it terrific news when you know she was a candidate, Carly Fiorinas jobs record was questioned, laying off american workers, outsourcing, being a failed businesswoman and a failed candidate. What does she bring to the equation here of benefit to senator cruz . Well, i think, look, politics aint bean bag. Carly ran for senate, she ran for president. Of course, shes going to be attacked by people. That doesnt take away from the fact shes a very articulate spokesperson. Shes going to do a great job on the campaign trail. Again, something were very excited about. It further adds to the momentum that senator cruz has at this critical juncture, as this becomes a twoperson race, which it is a twoperson race in our view in terms of taking a look at the delegate counts. As this becomes one candidate versus donald trump, this is the type of thing we want to see. There will be more of that to come, of course, as support continues to build. But again, were so excited to have carly on the campaign trail, and you can just see the response this morning. Both on twitter and at the event itself, to this announcement. That crowd was on fire. And thats a terrific thing to have in a campaign. Again, when you have a surrogate or someone who endorses you like a Carly Fiorina who still has the one of the most infamous debate moments of this election cycle, her claim she had seen this planned parenthood video that to this point shes not produced, to this point, even the Fact Checkers say does not exist. Again, going back to some of the problems she brings to your candidate, are you concerned at all about that . No. Because you can see the Tremendous Positive response that an endorsement from Carly Fiorina brings. There will be more to come. We had the endorsement of several governors recently. That win last night in the state of idaho. We overperformed in other states. Senator cruz has a tremendous amount of momentum, and he welcomes the support of Carly Fiorina and other people who will come on board as well. Lets go to what played out last night. We saw a win in idaho, but several other wins for donald trump. You saw his News Conference yesterday that many people compared to a qvc moment when he brought out all his products. The bottom line, his message was, the headline is that he was the clear winner again last night. And if the plan is to have a oneonone showdown between senator cruz and donald trump, that does not appear to be in the cards. Marco rubio is not getting out. John kasich not getting out. So this oneonone matchup that your candidate desires, and donald trump claims he desires, that is not going to happen at this point. So what do you see playing out before florida . Well, a couple things. One is that that was truly a Bizarre Press Conference from donald trump yesterday. And we just, were seeing so many people on twitter mocking it for having his wine out there and all these other products. Just bizarre. But he also he lied last night as well. Hes so desperate to try to mischaracterize ted cruz. He said, quote, ted cruz never beats him. That isnt true. We have beaten him eight times. Landslide victory in the state of canc caps. We tied him in the state of louisiana. He was way up in the state of maine. We won in the state of maine, in the state of alaska, the state of idaho. Donald trump just has a problem, as senator cruz articulately put it, a tenuous relationship with the truth. This campaign will eventually come down to a twoperson race. Its a question of when exactly that happens. Thats the critical question because it does depend on when it happens. If were looking at the numbers coming out of florida right now, i believe the latest numbers show senator cruz in third place there. In ohio, it is again donald trump there. I think people understand clearly that your campaign wants a oneonone showdown, but if donald trump takes florida, if he takes ohio, where then do you stop him . Well, well see about that. Look, the polls yesterday lets look at these polls very realistically. Hillary clinton had a 17point lead over Bernie Sanders in the state of michigan, and she wound up losing. Donald trump was way up in the state of maine, and we wound up winning. So the voters ultimately will have their own their voice heard when they cast their ballots. Were going to fight this campaign. This is a 50state campaign. My state of california votes last. We vote on june 7th. We have been organizing in california since august. Can senator cruz win california . Senator cruz in the most recent poll in california is up by two points over donald trump. That poll was taken in january. Im confident that the numbers would be even better today. So yes, were prepared to go all the way to the end to make sure we do not have a contested convention. The voters all have their says, and were confident at the end of the day its going to come down to a twoperson race, and ultimately, senator cruz is going to win the nomination. Quickly here, going back again and looking forward to ohio and florida. If the polls reflect the outcome that donald trump somehow pulls out even the malle stmallest of victories in those states, you still feel confident all of these reports, all of this speculation, the numbers games that show that essentially he has run off with this nomination, that he steam rolled through, youre not buying that for a second . Its not over after ohio and florida . Look, i served on the Republican National committee for four years, including as a member of the Standing Committee on rules. I understand the rules of the party. We need 1,237 delegates. And until someone gets 1,237, there is no nominee. Right now, donald trump is about 400 delegates. We have about 300 delegates. No one is close to hitting that number, which means its wide open. The voters of every single state deserve to have their voices heard in this process. All right, ron, thank you so much for joining us. Breaking news from your campaign, that endorsement from Carly Fiorina. Thank you, ron. And exit polls show Donald Trumps double digit wins yesterday came amid strong support from evangelicals, which were supposed to be senator cruzs bread and butter. So to speak. Trump also won strong support from voters who identify th themselves as conservative and from men and voters concerned about electability against a democratic opponent. Peter alexander is covering the trump campaign. One thing we see again, trump suffering with female voters. That may be a part of the cruz followup strategy today, bringing out Carly Fiorina, one of two women who ran for president in this cycle, and perhaps the Cruz Campaign sees an opening here. That set aside, last night was pretty interesting. Strange is what some are calling it. How donald trump handled himself with his victories. Yeah, i think thats exactly right, tamron. Thats a strategy ted cruz is focused on right now, trying to gather up republican women who live in the big city suburbs going forward. It certainly is something Hillary Clinton and her team will be focused on if donald trump becomes the Republican Party nominee. I want to focus on what we saw last night, and part of the reason some women have been turned off by donald trump is by the harsh language he used on the campaign trail, his vulgarty at times. Theres a new ad airing in the state of florida, in the florida panhandle, according to sources behind the ad, that focuses on Donald Trumps use of vulgarity. I asked him if he was embrarsed by it. After he largely ignored the question and acknowledged the ad was pretty good, he said i can be president ial when i need to be. Ill be very president ial, second only perhaps to abraham lincoln, to paraphrase what he said, is what he said last night. I followed up and asked him how he thought americans who were struggling with the language to try to explain this to families and to children. Heres what he said. Oh, youre so politically correct. Youre so beautiful. Look at you. Oh. Hes so oh, i know. Youve never heard a little off language. Youre so perfect. Arent you perfect . Arent you just a perfect young man . Give me a break. You know what. Its stuff like that that people in this country are tired of, okay. Still trump was among the first to acknowledge he didnt think using that kind of language was president ial, and he knew he needed to clean up his act. He said he would as he got further in the campaign and if he becomes the Republican Party nominee. He also showed success in mississippi and michigan, both of which were open primaries, independents and even democrats could vote. A different deal, tamron, when he gets to florida. Its a closed primary, but the polls do show him with a wide advantage in the state, much more competitive in the state of ohio. So if kasich wins his home state of ohio, you have ted cruz feeling good, john kasich feeling terrific, and donald trump still leading. More likely than not, all three of them stay in the race. And if that happens, it likely helps donald trump. And quickly, back to this moment of this, like i say, calling it a Home Shopping network thing where donald trump rolled out all of these products. There is a thought out now, and im sure you know that people are saying this may have backfired. That some of those products are not even for sale, specifically these steaks that he rolled out. As an example of his business success, to push back on mitt romney. That this again may be just all theatrics because one of those companies is not even in business anymore. Well, everyone would agree donald trump is a terrific showman. Hes been one throughout the course of this campaign. It was obvious this presentation was in part to sort of rebut what mitt romney had said about his business record. He held it at an exclusive country club that bears his name. But as she showed off trump steaks and trump magazine and trump wines, just breaking them down, trump steaks, according to the wall street journal, has been discontinued for years. It used to be sold on the Sharper Image website. The website itself acknowledges they are no longer for sale. The wines, well, there is a trump winery, but the winery says that its associated with eric trump, his son, not with donald trump himself. Nonetheless, with the trump name. The magazine or we should say the water as well, the water is produced elsewhere, with the trump label on it. And provided on his specific properties only. Thank you, peter. The latest quinnipiac poll released just this morning shows donald trump leading marco rubio by a two to one margin in rubios home state. After a dismal day yesterday, pressure is growing for the florida senator to drop out of the race. He says hes going nowhere. Politico Senior Writer marc caputo covers florida. He knows it better than anybody. He joins us. Lets talk about whats happening here. The victories yesterday for donald trump, some of the group whose have put out the attack ads make the point they didnt make heavy investments yesterday. Its florida, where they have put a lot of money by the millions, and this is where they hope their attack ads will pay off to stop donald trump. Well, to begin with, we dont see any evidence that marco rubios campaign can afford to do any attack ads. He has to rely on the super pacs. He looks like hes starting to run out of money which happens when you have a string of losses. What interesting about the quinnipiac poll, it has a different methodology which probably polls people who night not be likely republican voters. But every poll shows donald trump winning either by high Single Digits or mid double digits, 20 points, 15 points, 16 points. Winning since august. So i really dont see at this point how rubio can pull it off unless he has a fantastic ground game. He looks like he really started to do that about last week, the week before last. That might have been too late. Florida doesnt have an election day. It has election days. Well have been voting for about a month by march 15th, by tuesday. And so far, about 750,000 republicans have already cast early and absentee ballots. Thats a lot. Probably looking at a turnout from 2 million to 2. 3 million. At least 30 , 35 of the electorate is already in. Looking back at his senatorial run and the battle against Charlie Crist which marco rubios campaign is pointing to as how hes able to beat the odds. You have some, marc, who say part of marco rubios problem is that he really wasnt vetted. He hasnt had a chance to grow as a senator, even though as well, barack obama was a firstterm senator when he went on to be president. But this may be behind some of the resistance with floridians to support him. You have talked to folks there. Why arent they supporting the home team guy, so to speak . Well, a famous saying that elections are about choices. When people put donald trump up against anybody in the republican primary here in florida, in a crowded race, they just like trump more. He is i think it was peter who said hes a great showman. People really like the show. Theres a variety of reasons that donald trump appeals to republicans. Not just one reason. And yeah, its true that rubio kind of got in office and shortly after getting in office, he was soon vetted and mentioned as a possible Vice President ial candidates, and then he started running for president in the 20152016 cycle. But immigration probably played a bit of a role in making some of the grassroots hardcore conservatives angry because in 2010 when he campaigned he said he was against amnesty, and then what he wound up doosh is embracing a bill or supporting a bill with a pathway to citizenship. A variety of different factors that play into it. Donald trump yesterday mentioned in his estimation, these attack ads or ads in general dont matter. He perhaps can say that because he has a 100 name i. D. However, again, a lot of his business dealings have come into question. You have the two ads, and set aside the ad about him swearing. You still have the trump university, and then you have this ad featuring war veterans who have come out against donald trump. And its being heavily played. Is any of that resonating . Set aside the theatrics and showmanship. You have again an ad who would certainly resonate Something Like this in traditional campaigns. War vets coming out against a candidate. Well, what we have seen with donald trump and a lot of the exit polls and a lot of the polling since is that the people who support donald trump had their mind really made up compared to those who support the other candidates. And all of the surveys, all the research so far really indicates that in a crowded race, in a crowded republican primary, he does really well. If it gets to a oneonone matchup, hes going to have a far tougher time. Right now, polk indicates that probably is ted cruz. I dont want to write off marco rubio in florida. We dont know how the 750,000 republicans so far have voted. We dont know how good his ground game has been. Theres a chance he can still pull this off. All the surveys indicate otherwise, but back to donald trump, once he carries on in florida, if he wins and gets 99 delegates here. If he wins in ohio, gets another 66. Hell be at 620, half needed to win at convention. Its going to be challenging for ted cruz to beat him unless he goes to a brokered convention and somehow pulls it out. Great pleasure having you on. Tonight, Nbcs Chuck Todd will host a town hall with senator marco rubio. 8 00 p. M. Eastern time only on msnbc. Bernie sanders pulled a surprising upset in michigan last night. His narrow twopoint win running counter to every poll coming out of the state over the past month. Now, the polling average by real clear politics had clinton ahead by over 20 points headed into election day. Our exit polling shows that sanders surprise win was driven in large part by independents, a voting block that made up nearly 30 of the vote in yesterdays open primary. Senator sanders took 71 of those independent voters, beating clinton by more than 40 points. And sanders also did well again among voters who said that honesty and truthworthiness is the most important quality in a candidate as well as young voters and whites. In our next hour, Andrea Mitchell will speak with Bernie Sanders oneonone. Despite the michigan loss, Hillary Clinton came out of yesterdays primaries with the bigger delegate than she had going in. The count is up. Clintons landslide win in mississippi means clinton walked away with 88 delegates while senator sanders took home 70. In mississippi, clinton dominated sanders among africanamerican voters, getting about 90 of that voting block. But, Hillary Clinton actually underperformed among black voters in michigan. Clinton still beat sanders by nearly two to one there, but this was sanders best performance with black voters so far this year. One of the big issues of the minds of michigan voters like everywhere in the country, but in this stase, of course, its a major topic. Jobs. Nearly 6 in 10 michigan voters thought trade took away american jobs. And most of those voters backed sanders. Joining me now, karen finney. A lot of numbers to digest there, to say the least. But as you well know, this is how we try to read any trends or whats going on. So lets talk about those who were concerned about jobs. 6 in 10 michigan voters thought trade took away their jobs, and they sided with senator sanders here. Mmhmm. Where does your campaign see or are you willing to admit theres a disconnect somehow at least revealed out of this michigan vote . I think its important well continue to talk about where secretary clinton is on trade issues. There was a lot of talking about the 90s when she didnt have a vote. Not as much talk about what she actually did as a senator when she voted against cafta, for example, and when she did have a vote. But also i think we probably need to talk a little more, thats one part of how we create jobs. And increase incomes and improve schools and sort of that whole full picture. So certainly, coming up in the next five states, were definitely going to be talking a bit more about that. I think youll hear more on job creation and just more on the economy, because thats obviously top of mind. She has some very specific ideas about that. So well be certainly talking more about that. How do you explain the loss in michigan . I guess i want to put it into perspective because it was close. It was close. And by the way, were winning. I sort of feel like, you know, i dont want that point to get lost because obviously, she has been working very hard, and we have a very substantial lead in terms of delegates, and at the end of the day, thats what it takes to win the nomination of our party. So were going to continue to work hard. Obviously, were very pleased with the win in mississippi. That was a great thats not a state a democrat is expected to carry in a general election. Well looking at messages from a state like michigan which certainly will be important or ohio, where that White Working Class voter is speaking up and it seems to be with Bernie Sanders. Heres the problem that i have with that comparison. I dont think we can really compare whats happening in the primary with whats happening in the general. Heaven knows if you look at whats going on on the republican side, who knows whats going to be happening in the general more importantly, lets look at 2008. You had president obama lost ohio, lost pennsylvania in the primaries. Won them in the general election. Obviously, went on to be president for two times. So i think when we make those comparisons, i think its hard remember, hillary did quite well in massachusetts. We won in massachusetts. When we take a look at our coalition of voters that were putting together, you cannot win an election in this country, i dont know if donald trump has realized this yet, without, you know, a coalition of voters that includes africanamericans, women, latinos, obviously young voters is another place we know we have work to do, but so thats how were looking at it. Were looking at, are we continuing to expand our voters, are we continuing to build that coalition of voters . Thats what its going to take to win the primary and the general. One thing that has been repeated and its true. Without africanamerican voters, youre not going to win the democratic nomination. Bernie sanders has seen some improvement at least in michigan with black voters. To your point, Hillary Clinton still has a sizable lead, but theres movement at least in what we saw out of michigan. Is the campaign concerns . Well, were still looking at those numbers. I have to say, because i think also in michigan, she did have a pretty substantial lead there, but the gap was still quite substantial. I would also say, you know, one of the things were looking at is was voter turnout among africanamericans lower than expected . Thats another piece we want to take a look at. Certainly, part of what we have seen in some of the Southern States is its higher than expected. Thats something well take a look at coming into the next five states where obviously you have again states where there is a coalition that needs to be put together in terms of, you know, africanamerican voters, latino voters, White Working Class voters. Were talking about florida, ohio, illinois. So certainly were going to be looking at all of that, no question. Thank you very much. Clinton Campaign Spokesperson karen finney, great talking to you. Digesting, as i said, a lot of numbers. I realize that. Coming up, several candidates are visiting missouri this week, ahead of next tuesdays voting there. So were going to go live to ferguson, and well get perspective on the ground from a black lives matter leader about the parallels they say exist between Ferguson Protesters and donald trump supporters. Why they see the parallels there on the ground. Well talk about that next. They represent blood cells. And if you have afiban irregular heartbeat that may put you at five times greater risk of stroke they can pool together in the heart, forming a clot that can break free and travel upstream to the brain, where it can block blood flow and cause a stroke. But if you have afib thats not caused by a heart valve problem, pradaxa can help stop clots from forming. Pradaxa was even proven superior to warfarin at reducing the risk of stroke, in a Clinical Trial without the need for regular blood tests. And, in the rare event of an emergency, pradaxa is the only oral blood thinner other than warfarin with a specific reversal treatment to help your body clot normally again. Pradaxa is not for people who have had a heart valve replacement. Dont stop taking pradaxa without talking to your doctor. Stopping increases your risk of stroke or blood clots ask your doctor if you need to stop pradaxa before any planned medical or dental procedure. Pradaxa can cause serious, and sometimes, fatal bleeding. Dont take pradaxa if you have abnormal bleeding. And seek immediate medical care for unexpected signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Pradaxa may increase your bleeding risk if youre 75 or older, have kidney problems, stomach ulcers, a bleeding condition, or take certain medicines. Side effects with pradaxa can include indigestion, stomach pain, upset or burning. Dont just go with the flow. Go with pradaxa, the only blood thinner that lowers your risk of stroke better than warfarin and has a specific reversal treatment. Talk to your doctor about pradaxa today. So one group of voters, both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have been targeting this election cycle, young, engaged black activists. Both campaigns have family members of highprofile victims of violence stumping for them. Eric garners granddaughter erica appears in a tv ad for sanders. And a group of moms including eric garners mother support clinton and appear for her on the campaign trail. Exit polling from yesterdays primary shows 71 of mississippis democratic voters were black. Black voters made up 50 of the electorate in 2008. Joining me now, msnbcs tremayme l lee. Hes in the city rocked by violence after Michael Brown was killed by an offense. Missouris primary is next tuesday. You spoke with black lives matters activists to get their take on the candidates, the attention given or not given to some issues of concern for them, and this parallel between black lives matters supporters and donald trump supporters. Whats going on there . Thats right, tamron. I have been talking to folks on ground, including many of the veteran activists who took part in the ferguson protests. There are few communities wanting or needing political change or action more than ferguson. The parallels you referenced, i spoke to a young lady named kayla reed with the organization of black struggle. What she said is that while so many folks are concerned and quite frankly frightened by the masses of people showing up at the donald trump rallies, there are parallels between many of those folks and the protesters on the ground. She talked about poverty issues, access to education, housing, and the idea theyre struggling and barely holding on, which parallels so many black folks who took to the streets and are fighting for the lives and livelihoods of their communities. She said what is dangerous as much as the rhetoric of donald trump whipped them into a frenzy is the ridicule those groups are facing from the left, and both of those things combined, the ridicule from the left and the rhetoric from donald trump, is kind of exacerbating the teng between black folks and white folks. Even those who have shared interests, and shared goals of economic selfsufishancy, et cetera. In this community that has been torn apart, they have been fighting hard for a year and a half for political change, and to some degree, we have seen that. In mass last year, they showed up for the City Council Elections and changed the face of the city council. There are four black folks on the city council. Right now, the city is going through their final four candidates for a new police chief. So folks here have organized. You see a new generation engaged and active, and now, they have the ear at least on the democratic side, the ear of those vying for the presidency of the United States. When they have the ear, though, what are you hearing, especially in ferguson . Theyre asking for, and it is also interesting when you think about it, rand paul is no longer in the race, but he was the candidate on the republican side who wrote the oped about the materialization of the police department, remarking on these tanks and the equipment that will be seen in a war area brought to the streets of ferguson, missouri. So in fact, they do have the ear of Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, do we know more about some of the specifics that might impact this vote next tuesday . Well, see, thats kind of the rub. They said time and again, when i asked them, i said, which of these candidates is best suited to handle these kind of heady issues including that of race . Who can lead us in the right direction . Time and again, they said we dont need anyone to lead us. It will be a groundup movement. But what they do want is the acknowledgment of white privilege, the acknowledgment of white supremacy, and the idea and full acknowledgment that the institutions and structures need to be reshaped to help the most vulnerable among us, including minorities, including the poor in this country. Many folks have said that Bernie Sanders addresses those needs. That they feel that Hillary Clinton is still kind of stained and tainted by the 1994 crime bill which ushered in, they say, a new generation of mass incarcrashz. So at this point, the specifics are about institutional incrementalize that they need speeded up. Tremaymaine lee, thank you. Thank you. And coming up, the man suspected of shooting a prominent idaho pastor who led a prayer at a ted cruz rally, is arrested at the white house last night. The man susfekted of shooting an idaho pastor a day after he led a prayer at a ted cruz rally was arrested last night at the white house, thousands of miles away from the shooting. The secret service says the man was taken into custody after throwing, quote, nonhazardous materials over the white house fence. Nbc justice correspondent Pete Williams has more on his arrest. The secret service says Kyle Andrew Odom was seen outside the white house tuesday night throwing what are described as documents and a computer flash drive over the fence. The scene around the white house was active hours later. The 30yearold was immediately taken into custody, putting an end to a threeday manhunt. I think everyone can breathe a big sigh of relief that at least this part of the case has come to a conclusion. The case started in idaho where police searched for a man who shot a prominent idaho evangelical pastor on sunday, just a day earlier, pastor Tim Remington had delivered the opening prayer for ted cruz at a campaign rally. You get all the glory, all the honor, and all the praise for it, lord. Remington was walking out of his church to his car when she was shot six times, critically wounded. Odom was quickly identified as the suspect in the shooting after video from the Church Parking lot showed a silver 2004 honda accord linked to the former marine. Police believe he flew from boise, idaho, to washington on monday. Theyre still baffled about how he managed to elude them and board the plan in the first place. Police say the idaho shooting was not a random act and the pastor was not the only target. They say odom who had a history of mental problems revealed his plan in a letter send to his parents and news media. There are a number of people listed in the manifesto, senators and house of representatives, Israeli Government officials. It was extensive and it was sdrbing to us. That was Pete Williams reporting. Now, authorities in idaho say the pastor who was shot in the head and back is in stable condition. As for the man who was arrested, members of his family say theyre grateful he was safely apprehended and no one else was hurt there. Coming up, exit polling shows donald trump winning with voters 65 and older last night. Will that trend secure a win for trump next week, and we also have a look at the head to head matchup, n numbers from the nbc wall street journal poll showing where voters stand right now if the matchup is between Hillary Clinton and donald trump. Well show you those new numbers and a reminder, coming up in the next hour, Andrea Mitchell will talk with senator Bernie Sanders in his first interview since winning the Michigan Democratic primary last night. Welcome back this morning as we continue to look at the exit poll data from last nights contest. Donald trumps largest margin of victory when broken down by age came from voters 65 and older. In michigan, he scored 42 of that age group. And 54 in mississippi. That age group will, of course, be a huge factor going into next weeks primary in florida. As we reported, the newest poll out of florida shows trump with a wide lead over marco rubio. In last nights tough showing for all four contests could impact rubios standing even more. Early voting has been under way in the state for over a week. A factor marco rubios Campaign Hopes will point in his favor. And joining me now to talk more about Hillary Clintons campaign is jess mcintosh, spokesperson for emilys list, which has endorsed Hillary Clinton. Thank you for joining us. Great to be here. We teased this segment talking about the new numbers on a headtohead matchup, and right now, you look at the numbers, Hillary Clinton versus donald trump, that would be 51 to 38 . Clinton versus cruz, much tighter, 47 to 45 . Same thing, clinton versus rubio, 46 46 , and sanders versus trump, a very similar to what were seeing with Hillary Clintons numbers. 55 37 there. But one of the comparisons thats being made right now is that Donald Trumps campaign and Bernie Sanders campaign largely being fueled by socalled angry white males there. How do you process this, and how this will play out, whether the democratic nominee is Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders . I mean, i think its clear Hillary Clinton is building a coalition that can win both the democratic nomination and the general election. Shes speaking, and winning by huge margins africanamerican voters, winning women, talking to latinos. In nevada, i was interested to find out she won incomes below 50,000 and above 50,000, whereas sanders seems to be winning with this more Narrow Coalition of affluent white people, white men, and college kids. So its less of the kind of coalition thats going to take you through to get the nomination. And one that holds up less well against republicans in november. I think Hillary Clintons message of breaking down barriers could not possibly be a better contrast with Donald Trumps insistence that were going to build walls. When you say breaking down barriers, there is, if you look again at the data coming out, a barrier in some cases between Hillary Clinton and some of the angrier male voters. They say angry over jobs, in michigan, it was about trade. Even though, for example, one of the big debate moments that Bernie Sanders disputes, but certainly was when Hillary Clinton said to him, you did not support the auto bailout. Right. And i think she has a strong message to those voters. I think that we saw a tight race in michigan. Obviously, bernie said it was a mustwin for him, and he won, and congratulations to him. But it was a tight race, and they almost split those delegates. Shes not having a tough time with those voters. He just eked her out last night. I think were seeing in ohio, shes still doing really well in the polls with some of the similar voters. Well see what happens next tuesday. But she has a plan to grow the economy and create jobs. And address trade deficits, and crack down on wall street ain a holistic way that focuses on raising incomes for all americans. I think thats going to resonate going forward. Going back to Bernie Sanders win in michigan. Do you see any red flags . Any warning signs that the Clinton Campaign and supporters should really digest and not shrug it off as, well, listen, shes up in the delegate count. It was a small lead in michigan. Because we know the attitude certainly is a win is a win these days. I think the biggest red flag for all of us, and the biggest warning for everybody is dont trust the public polling. It was showing her up by double digits and we saw a much, much tighter race. I do think it is important to note that 100,000 more americans voted for hillary yesterday between the two contests. She is up in pledged delegates. She is up in actual votes cast. Shes a very, very strong position for the democratic nomination and for the general. Jess, thank you vso much for your time. Coming up, new polling out of ohio just in this morning. What it says about the matchup between john kasich and donald trump. And in michigan, kasich won big with late deciders. Well take a look at these new numbers and what it may reveal, and again, got to be careful with these polls. We got some new insight for you. Well see what you think about it after a quick break. We want to take you now to an event with senator ted cruz who is speaking with reporters after holding that rally where he surprised everyone this morning with an endorsement from Carly Fiorina. Lets listen in. I think both marco rubio and john kasich will have to look at the race and assess their prospects. It is a simple question of math whether or not one can get to 1237 votes. If a candidate does not have a path to the nomination, then it is time for that candidate to prayerfully reflect with their family whether this is a path forward for them. If there is not, then it is up to each of the candidates to make that decision. But i will say this race started out with 17 candidates. 17 strong, talented, young dynamic candidates, a very impressive array. Throughout the course of the year it has narrowed and thats the natural political process. Thats what the primary is for. This race, i believe, will end up one on one between me and donald trump because donald and i are the only two that have any path to getting to 1237 delegates. Headtohead with donald trump, we win. The polling yesterday showed we beat donald headtohead by 13 points. So if you dont believe donald trump is the best nominee for republicans f you recognize that 70 of republicans do that donald loses to hillary in the general, then i would encourage republicans even if you were supporting another candidate to come, join carly, join the millions of conservatives who are coming together, unifying behind our campaign. Campaign for rubio says theyre at your rally today saying dont vote for cruz because that gives it to trump. How do you answer that . Well, as i said, a candidate can only have a path forward if the math allows you to get to 1237 skrovotes. Youre running out of elections and delegates. Nobody else is close in the delegate count. You want to stop donald trump, the answer is the same as in the eight other states where we beat donald trump, which is to unify behind our campaign. I will say to all of the folks who are supporting other people, maybe you were supporting jeb bush or chris christie, maybe you were supporting rand paul or Mike Huckabee or Carly Fiorina or right now youre supporting marco rubio or john kasich, every one of those are good, honorable decent people. I respect and admire every one of them, but at this point, the elections, the primaries have made clear that none has a path to beating donald trump. If you dont want to see donald trump as the nominee, you dont want to hand we are listening in again senator cruz putting pressure on john kasich and marco rubio to look at the math, look at the numbers and determine whether or not they should stay in the race. Well continue to watch the latest from the campaign trail. All of the candidates, those who are out today. Thank you so much for joining us for this hour. Greatly appreciate you spending the hour with me. Im tamron hall. Well see you tomorrow. Up next, Andrea Mitchell reports, her exclusive interview with senator Bernie Sanders.
