Hospital beds. Hospital beds. Sick with coronavirus. It is a Record Number of hospitalizations since this pandemic began. That record coming on a day 132,000 americans testing positive for the virus. The seventh straight day of cases above 100,000. In a moment well take you to a city that is being called the new epicenter of the outbreak. All of this coming against the backdrop of a president ial transition, despite the best efforts of President Trump, yet to accept the results. It is more than the president s baseless legal fight which so far has featured all caps, tweets and lawsuits without any evidence. This is how our nations top diplomat responded to a question about peaceful transition yesterday. There will be a smooth transition to a second trump administration. All right. Were ready. Is he serious, thats disgraceful. It thats a joke, it aint funny. Meanwhile, president elect biden continues to project a sense of calm saying his transition is moving forward on schedule, but he didnt mince words when asked about President Trumps refusal to concede. I just think its an embarrassment, quite frankly. You only thing that how can i say this tactfully . I think it will not help the president s legacy. We have reporters with the latest on all of this. Monica alba covering team trump and mike memoli with president elect bidens team and Pulitzer Prize winning bureau chief at the washington post. An allstar squad. Monica, today President Trump will make his first public appearance in almost a week and its, of course, in honor of veterans day. What are you watching . Reporter ill be watching for, steph, whether the white house adds anything else to the president s public schedule, because hes not expected to make remarks at this largely ceremonial visit, one hes done over many of the years he has been here, but i also want to know whether he is going to come out and publicly say on camera in another fashion what hes been saying on these tweets that continue to be completely baseless, and the reality seems to be setting in at the white house with an official telling my colleague peter alexander, the situation is simply not sustainable as it is now. When we look ahead to the next couple of days, the Trump Campaign is preparing to wind down, in effect. Staff is going to be laid off and essentially dismissed as was always the plan once these things wrap up and 245theyre gg down to a bare bones team to continue some of these legal pursuits. Beyond that, no plan that these plans exist. Nominated january 20th will be president elect joe biden. Theyre sending emails and Text Messages to raise money for a new Political Action committee called save america, essentially outgaoing President Trumps attempt to raise money for the future and contemplates a 2024 run, he hasnt ruled out and is discussing with aides. The greatest signal they are looking for what will come weeks from now. Not a protracted legal strategy or fight here. That just seems to be something that is finally being recognized here at the white house, even though the president hasnt done it, and the other thing im going to look for is what other announcements he may make via tweet about personnel changes. Weve seen so much happen over the last 47 hours as the pentagon. Its possible that will continue at other major agencies at the federal government itself hasnt recognized yet joe biden will be president eleshglecelect. We wait for that to come in the coming weeks according to aides, officially, stephanie. What i dont get, phil. If the president s campaign knows this thing is over and republicans know this thing is over but theyre not saying anything because theyre afraid of President Trump, why would they be afraid of a guy who just lost . Voted for donald trump. The most popular figure in the Republican Party today. Hes showing no indication that he wants to leave the political scene and, in fact, could run again for president , but even if not, he would certainly be a powerful force in republican politics. So nobody wants to get crosswise with him in the party. What we have is republican officials throughout walk indulging the president s delusions, entertaining him. Humoring him. Going along with this fantasy that the election was stolen from him, and that hes the true victor, and there are dangerous consequences, according to experts in governance and Public Service who point out that by delaying the official beginning of the biden transition, trump and the republicans could be imperiling National Security here. Thats the not just sort of a side show but there are real world consequences to refusing to admit that biden has won the election. Lets talk about those consequences. Mike, you reported that president elect biden is not receiving intelligence reports. What is up with that . Reporter well, steph, this all has to do with what monica referred to, that obscure Government Agency that a lot of americans probably hadnt heard of until this week. General Services Administration still has not issued that de ed determination that joe biden is president elect in fact. The direct herb of the National Intelligence oversees the president ial daily brief saying that until it gets that determination its not interacting with any of bidens transition team. Biden la been getting some classified information as the democratic nominee for the last few months, but those are much more highlevel briefings and dont get into specifics, details about ongoing operations, the kind of things joe biden is inheriting himself in just 70 days when sworn in that he really needs to know about. Biden himself yesterday downplayed this said having access to this information would be useful, but he said because hes not president yet he wouldnt be in position to act on any of that information, as he pit iut it, theres one prest at a time. Those on capitol hill say biden should get access to this sooner than later. The Prime Minister of canada, the Prime Minister of great britain, the president of france, the chancellor of germany have all spoken with president elect biden this week as a signal they view him as the incoming president. When i asked joe biden yesterday about what hes telling these leaders, he said hes telling them one thing. America is back. Steph . Phil what does the president get out of making these changes inside the department of defense . Firing top officials and moving in trump loyalists . What does he get out of that in the next 70 days . And why is that dangerous . Well, on the surface he gets retribution. Right . This is a president who likes to seek revenge against anybody who he thises crossed him, and defense secretary mark esper, trump has somebody who said no a few times. Who resisted some of the president s impulses. So the president fired him this week. Now, we should also consider these are real jobs, and the president and the administration are in place for another 70 days, as mike just mentioned. So having a new defense secretary who knows what could happen, what sort of threats america might face over the next 70 days. That person will not just be a figurehead but very well could be in charge of the military at a moment of consequence if that were to arise between now and the inauguration. And some of the other officials who seem to be in the president s cross hairs include dina haskell, director of the defense agency, one of the top intel officials in our government. The president long suspected that people at the cia and throughout the intelligence f m firmament have been working against him. Thats the president instinct, and a lot of speculation inside trump world her could fire gina haspel next. And these are trump appointees. Phil, can you check this . Learning a pennsylvania postal worker who claimed they witnessed voter irregulateies is now take thatting that back. Can you explain to us . Its these stories that the likes of facebook are pushing and pushing, and when we all talk to our paints over the weekend were going to hear the stories from our moms and dat s datsddatsd datsddatsd datsds. Dads. One of many stories, conspiracies floating on social media but not a basis for it and its also worth considering that one vote, two votes, even a few hundred is not enough to change the result of the election. Weve seen historically over time even in close races with recounts contacted it might change vote totals on the margins but almost never reverses outcomes in these states and joe bidens lead in pennsylvania at this point is fairly substantial that any sort of irregularities on that scale would not change the outcome. No evidence of widespread voter fraud anywhere in this country. Thats right. Monica, mike, phil, thank you. Phil, also i want to commend you. I appreciate that you stuck with that ear of corn after leslie jones mocked you. I like that you still have that corn out there. Pretty good. Its squash. Not corn. Squash. Well, there you go. It is an autumnal squash. I like that you stuck with it. Have to turn and go to the latest on the coronavirus pandemic. These numbers are massive. The state of texas is now being called the new epicenter. It was the first state to surpass 1 million cases, and just yesterday it broke its singleday record, nearly 11,000 cases statewide. Morgan chesky is in el paso, a city that is running out of morgue space. Morgan, i freed to say that one more time for our audience. Weve heard from our president and others, were turning a corner. This thing is just the flu. Its just more testing. Why theres more positives. El paso, texas, is running out of space to put dead bodies in their morgues. Hmm. Yeah, steph. Just to the hear you say that drives home the tragic point were witnessing firsthand here in the city. It we were here a week ago for election day and just in that time span it has become so much more dire here that we witnessed mobile morgues being dropped off at the county medical Examiners Office yesterday and should be ten in place here by end of this week. I just want to say this isnt out of a precautionary measure but by simply running out of ro due to the virus running so fast through this border community. A reason they think cases are spiking quickly and one is the fact you have multigenerational households here in this area. Another is that Big Box Retail stores are still open. And then you have this controversial shutdown thats been put in place over the past two weeks that expires at midnight tonight, steph. This was issued by the county judge that i had a chance to speak with thats now being challenged by a local Restaurant Group and the Texas Attorney general who says the county judge is overstepping his Authority Issues the shutdown despite the rising number of cases. And when i chatted with the county judge earlier, he said that you can bring a business back but you cant bring a person back and commented on the growing number of morgues showing up in his city. Take a listen. In the community the burial is such a big part of our lives, a celebration of life, and to see that were storing bodies and that people are still not understanding the stayathome order or someone from a distance is telling us what we should be do in el paso. I dont know. I question anybody not for the stayathome order to come by here. Reporter that order expires at midnight tonight. The judge tells me, due to the numbers and support from the medical community he would like to extend it, but potentially faces a growing legal challenge. Steph . And remember, it was back in march when the Lieutenant Governor of texas was pushing back against any shelter in place orders saying that perhaps senior citizens, grandparents, should be willing to die. People are dieing. Every day in the state of texas. Morgan, thank you. Please, stay safe where you are. Still ahead, money is already pouring in to two Georgia Senate runoff races. Right now votes are still being counted in the state of georgia with nine days until the states deadline to certify Election Results. Congressman doug collins asked the secretary of States Office to hand count all ballots before results are certified. This as our local nbc affiliate got its hands on a letter from georgias 202 1 house gop delegation urging the secretary of state to probe claims of fraud. If their letter spelled the word georgia wrong. Shows you how serious this is. Another reminder, there is veze evidence of widespread voter fr fraud in the state of georgia or anywhere. And all over this story in the state of georgia, what is going on . Reporter well, lots is going on, stephanie. From what weve heard from the secretary of States Office as relates to that hand recount, they do not intend to do that unless a court orders them to do so and that would happen after the state certifies results at which time the Trump Campaign could make that request for a recount. As it stands now that would happen by ballots scanned and counted much the same way they were initially, unless the Trump Campaign petitions the court for that hand recount which representative doug collins says they do intend to do. While all of that is playing out there is also a senate race that is still under way here. Campaigning has not stopped. Martha rubio is kicking off a rally in less than an hour campaigning for senators lefler and perdue. Jon ossoff is crossing the state and requesting absentee ballots. Counties sending them out beginning next week. Certainly a lot going on here, and an election that is already under way for a senate race that will ultimately be determined in january. Stephanie . Priscilla, thank you. I want to dig deeper with somebody who certainly knows these races best. One of those candidates, joining us now, reverend Raphael Warnock a democrat running to unseat senator Kelly Loeffler. Of course, we also invited senator loeffler who declined. Reverend, your work is cut out for you. Now just you and kelly. How does that change the race . Well, thank you so much, stephanie. Its great to be here with you, and happy veterans day to all of our veterans. We owe a debt of gratitude to them, and their families, for all the sacrifice for our freedoms. Listen, the remarkable thing is that somebody like me is even running for the United States senate. Im a kid who grew up in Public Housing down in savannah, georg savannah, georgia and the First College graduate in my family. I know the importance of Public Policy because im the product of pell grants and somebody providing for me a ladder of opportunity to create a profitable, productive life for myself and my family. So im running for the u. S. Senate to give ordinary people a chance. Theyre hearing that message here on the ground in georgia, which is why our campaign has such momentum, and we intend to prevail come january 5th. Lets be honest. Shes going to raise about a gazillion dollars not just from georgian bes but people around the country watching this race. A lot of big money from new york, wall street, that want to see a divided government. How do you combat the amount of money theyre going to get . Oh, if money could purchase this seat, Kelly Loeffler would have had it by now. The wealthiest member of congress. Spent millions of dollars on ads, on television during this race. I got in this race, there were 21 people in my race. 10 sddemocrats, 5 republicans, listed names alphabetically because my last name was warnock, the kid next to the last kid in line and yet we finished first. I think thats because voters are hearing the message. Theyre concerned about their health care. Im hailing from a state where weve had eight hospitals close. I was down in culver, georgia, a couple weeks ago. Those folks and people are concerned that their hospital is closed in the middle of a pandemic. I hear Kelly Loeffler talking about Everything Else she intends to do in the race except the fact shes trying to get rid of their health care in the middle of a pandemic. I think thats terrible news and i intend to stand up for ordinary people a. Not asked the question which politicians are winning or losing. The ways in which too many of our families are losing and i intend to go to washington and stand up for ordinary people. What are you going to do in the next six weeks . What is your ground game . Are you trying to convince voters to change their view . Trying to register voters . What are you going to do . Oh, weve been registering voters for years here in this state. People are watching whats happening in georgia, and what they need to understand is that this is not magic. This is hard work. Weve been on the ground for years registering hundreds of thousands of new voters in this state. Trying to give people a voice. And as a candidate, i intend to help people to see themselves in the conversation. Too often in washington the politics is about the politicians, which of them is winning and be losing . And what i intend to do is to center the concerns of ordinary people. The people that i know as a pastor, that ive counseled in church. Cant tell you how many times ive been in the waiting room of a critic many care unit watching them languish about a loved one between life and death but the impact on their ability to thrive. All of that gets lost in the conversation, and which is why im running. I feel that this message is resre resofresonating with ordinary voters, a reason we finished so strong in that part of the race and intend to win the seat and more importantly win the future for kids like me who are in disaffected communities in rural georgia, trying to figure out how they embrace the american dream. Thats slipping away from too many at this time. I would be deeply honored to represent the people of georgia. Jaime harrison in South Carolina shared much of your message with voters. He raised a ton of money, and he lost. Congressman jim clyburn just said dloslogans like defund the police hurt his campaign. You clearly said you oppose defunding police, but are you worried youre getting lumped in with people who want to do that, people in districts where that works for . No, im not. The truth is, im not interested in defunding the police. Maybe Kelly Loeffler is since she keeps talking about it. Im interested in concerns of ordinary people. Its clear she wants to defund their health care. Shes been in washington several months and did a good job protecting her own when she heard about the coronavirus pandemic. She profited in the middle of a pandemic. Meanwhile, georgians have not seen real relief in several months. Businesses are seeing a narrower profit margin, our Small Businesses especially are struggling when there was relief. They saw a shake shack in ruth chris and l. A. Lakers front of the line. Small businesses at the back of the line. And i think she would rather talk about all of these things, because i imagine it must be difficult to explain why you want to get rid of health care in the middle of a pandemic. I think that we ought to be strengthening the Affordable Care act, we ought to make sure that our seniors dont have to choose between prescription drugs and food on the table, and we ought to make sure that when our kids finish college or technical or vocational school, that the debt isnt so oppressive that they have a mortgage before they have a mortgage. Thats a drag not only on the personal economy but on the georgia economy. Reverend, good luck to you. Thank you so much for joining me this morning. You have a busy next few weeks. Thank you so much. Coming up next publicly many republicans on capitol hill are backing President Trump and his efforts to fight the Election Results. But ill be asking Armed Services Committee Members melissa slatkin what members are saying behind closed doors. Remember, doesnt matter what you say behind closed doors, when you hold a public office. [ engines revving ] its amazing to see them in the wild like th shhh. [ engine revs ] for those who were born to ride, theres progressive. [ engine revs ] before money, people tools, cattle, grain, even shells represented value. Then currency came along. They made it out of copper, gold, silver, wampum. Soon people decided to put all that value into a piece of paper, then proceeded to wave goodbye to value, printing unlimited amounts of money as they passed the buck to the future. Thats why its time for Digital Currency and your investment in the grayscale funds. Go digital. Go grayscale. Heart monitors that let your doctor watch over you, just like you watch over your best friend. Another lifechanging technology from abbott, so you dont wait for life. You live it. New this morning, cracks emerging in the republican support for President Trump. Not just publicly. Before heading out for veterans day, quietly conceding the election for Vice President elect biden needs to start now. Garrett haake, some republicans quietly acknowledges reality but not coming out publicly . Last i check, they hold a public office. Doesnt matter what they say in private. Reporter yep. I think thats right. Now at least were starting to see in public some of what you might cog the governing class of republican senators. Committee chair people, folks with experience in this area saying, even if theyre not ready to call out just directly that the president has lost this election, that they ought to at least start the transition process. Yesterday we heard from marco rubio, chairperson of the intel committee. Knows quite a bit about importance of getting that information to the negs president saying the transition has to start. Got to get it going. The senator from south dakota, former governor saying we can probably start this process. Interesting one to me, because hes also one of the four who has congratulated joe biden is mitt romney who planned a careful transition process when running for president back in 2012. Came out says very directly this needs to start. So, too, pat toomey, another of the old school conservative r. Republicans. Bottom line here, seeing cracks but as your last seg mchbt whats keeping them from moving more directly . Thats georgia. They need voters there and scared not necessarily of him but the prospect of turning off all the trump voters they need to come out and vote if republicans want to be in majority come january. Thank you. Joining me to discuss exactly this, democratic congresswoman melissa slatkin of michigan, a member of the Armed Services committee. Thank you so much for joining me this morning. I want to start with what garrett touched on privately. Are your republican colleagues acknowledging president elect bidens win . I think a number of them are going through the motions of these court cases, and kind of pushing back. Frankly to satiate the president and satiate the sort of, you know, trump base, but they know that its very difficult in michigan to overturn results of the election when biden won by so many votes. Theres a difference. Some true believers and some privately say, hey, go through the motions to kind of get this off our plate. Either way, i cant support it. It undermines democracy and is wrong either way. Then right now whats most concerns to you about whats happening in the white house . Well, i think listen, a period of transition on its own is always, always a very sort of vulnerable moment on National Security fronts. I mean, our adversaries, other countries in the world, are thinking how to hedge their bets, trying to get a good deal now or wait for a better deal later on whatever theyre working on with the United States. Its an opportune time faced inward to get away with stuff. Stuff that, you know, should be concerning to all of us. And then i think frankly more important than that is just what it means if were going to erode or democracy like this. If this is going to become normal when a president doesnt win an election hes going to try and stay in office. I think the precedent it sends to all of the kids watching, to all people who sort of think that this is normal its a really dangerous thing right now. But eroding democracy, as important as it is, almost feels existential. Stay in the moment with me and look what the president s doing right now. Can you help us understand given your on the Armed Services committee and i dont expect you to get inside the president s head, but the rationale for President Trump bouncing all of these Defense Department officials . Why would Something Like this happen, and what could be the risk associated with that . Sure. So theres basically three reasons why you get rid of senior officials at the Defense Department. One is gross incompetence. Negligence. Really, really fallen down on the job in some demonstrable way, i dont know weve seen here. Second, is just punitive, right . The president was mad at secretary esper. Mad at the other officials, and even though hes maybe on his way out just wants to stick it to them as a demonstration of what happens when you cross him. The third reason is, you want people who will say yes to things that others would say no to. Thats the most concerning, the one we all need to think about. I know chris miller, now our acting secretary of defense. I worked with him at the pentagon i believe hes a decent person but it concerns me you have someone who might be willing to say yes to the president on a military operation, on an engagement, doing something differently abroad with the chinese, with the russians. Declassifying defense intelligence. Theres a number of things there that i am deeply concerned about that could come from these switches at the pentagon. Lets look at you. This week alone youve said a democratic Progressive Agenda doesnt work in every state. But that Progressive Agenda, that message, is exactly what republicans use to paint your whole party and it works. This week we hear over and over the agenda of nancy pelosi, Chuck Schumer and aoc. Last i checked, aoc is not a peer of Chuck Schumer or nancy pelosi as far as leadership goes. How do you combat that . I mean, to be honest with you, we have a different opinion than some on this. I think that the reason why its relatively easy to paint all democrats with a broad brush is because people dont know always what we stand for. I mean, i want to be frank that we have a problem especially in places like michigan where people dont know what it means to be a democrat. The brand has been weak for a while. Therefore, every two years you can just superimpose whatever hit is the most popular thing and youre going to convince people thats what all democrats are about. So while i dont love some of the slogans, i dont love a lot of what im hearing from some of my colleagues further left of me, i think that we have a bigger strategic problem and we need to own that as democrats. Are you working with them, talking to them on a oneonone basis . Youre in michigan. Not far from rashida tlaib, different views than you do. Are you having conversations . I think about republicans over the last four years. A lot disagreed and hate the president but got in line behind him and got a lot of their a1ye7bd agenda done. Look at the judges. Are you at risk to not do this because democrats cant agree . I tend to think our disputes and disagreements should be handled privately. Absolutely i talk to people one on one. A ton of phone calls with people different views than mine and its a healthy normal change of ideas. I dont any its good to do it in the press. To be honest with us, yes, of course, the republicans exercise real discipline. Im not sure in the past four years thats been a positive thing. Again, for our democracy, for the state of affairs. We are a Big Tent Party on the democratic side and have to work that out and figure out what we have in common and be clear where our differences are. But i do think given our majority will be slimmer than it was last time that it will require us to come together and to figure out that strategic plan, if not, its going to be tough in 2022. Do you need new democratic leadership . I mean, for me im always, im a midwesterner, right . I want to see more midwesterners in leadership. Part of the reason i think when im out in my swing district trying to convince people they should consider the Democratic Party they look around and dont know who are the representatives at the seen jer levels . Are they from my part of the country . Do they care about my issues . Good jobs and saving the middle class. I think we need to broaden the representation, and again, i came from a National Security background. Youre always building the bench. Making a liberty effort to train that next generations of liddership. Bring them up. The freshmen last year were a good start but we need to be deliberate about it in the party. Today is veterans day. You are an army wife. You have a daughter in the army. And you have another daughter who works at the v. A. Youre introducing a new bill called the solid start act specifically aimed at helping veterans. Tell us about it. Yeah. Honestly, it just came from ideas that veterans gave me in my district, which was, you separate from military when your service is done. My husband went through this. And we know that there are a lot of thing, a lot of Services Open to our veterans, but the veterans dont know, you know, enough about it. So this basically requires the v. A. To send two communications in the first year someone is separated from the military to say, hey, heres what you qualify for. Heres your onestop shop if you need help with housing, first loan, these things so veterans actually know whats out there and we can get them what they need. We have a big problem with veterans not getting what they need after separating from active duty. Well, if there are any americans we must help first, it is without a doubt our veterans. We shouldnt just remember them today. We should think of them every day. Thank you so much for joining me. I appreciate it. Get ready, youre going to get a ten out of ten on room rater today. House looks great. Working on it. Thanks. And weve got breaking news as we have been speaking, nbc news has projected President Trump as winner of the state of alaska. A state that was still counting ballots. Republican senator dan sullivan also held on to his senate seat there. Coming up next, coronavirus cases and hospitalizations hitting new records with new projections that have the United States hitting 20 million coronavirus cases like christmas, as thousands of college kids are prepare tockino home for the holidays. Coronavirus hospitalizations are reaching record highs here in the United States. Hospitals across the country admitting nearly 62,000 covid19 patients on tuesday alone. Going live to my colleague cal perry in milwaukee where cases are surgings working hard to get people testing as quickly and easy as possible. Hows that going . Reporter yeah. Trying to ramp up testing big time. Im at a site here in milwaukee. Show you video what its like inside this drivethrough center but try this on for size. Yesterday the state of wisconsin saw the most positive tests, the most hospitalizations and the most deaths on one day since the coronavirus pandemic began. Hospitals are at 85 capacity here in the state. It is a critical situation. Why the governor here gave a rare primetime address asking people to stay inside. Basically, a statewide stayathome order. Stephanie, as weve sooner across the country this is is a democratic governor up against a republican laich slaegislature. Nothing legally binding, just recommending people stay at home. All of this with thanksgiving coming around the corner. Health officials here urging people to cancel thanksgiving plans. Nowhere to put these patients. One bit of information to get out to our viewers from Health Officials here saying if you come into contact with somebody with coronavirus, please, wait three to five days before receiving that test. There could be a lot of false negatives going on around there. Stephanie . False negatives, confusion, anxiety, panic and more importantly, a lot of really sick people. Joining us now to dig even deeper into this, thank you, cal. Dr. Amesh adalja, senior scholar for health security. The numbers are frightening. The United States reaching a record level of covid hospitalizations. It is so dire in el paso, texas, the city is setting up mobile morgues. Can you give us a sense of where we are, because while all of this is happening, we still dont have the president acknowledging how serious it is. He continues to say this things like the flu. Were almost in the worst possible scenario that you could imagine. None of us back in january, february thinking about how the u. S. Would fare. Thought we would be still talking ten months later about the same things. About testing, tracing, isolating. Hospitals not having capacity. Mobile morgues. I do think this is that winter intensification we talked about happening, if we didnt take correction actions when he had the chance to and now will have to muddle through this winter knowing that our hospitals are going to kind of seesaw, crisis one day, not in crisis and its going to move to different locations. It is the absolute worst way to manage a pandemic and didnt have to be this way if we had proper and competent leadership from the very beginning. But this is where we are. So talk to us about the next few weeks, because weve had several statement days of more than 100,000 new daily infections. Given that, what are we in for in the next three weeks . I think hospitals are going to even get in a worse situation, copt ntinue to get m patients and there a couple of days. Something hospitals have to become accustomed to. The new normal and may have to ration care ifcontinues in parts of country like in el paso, wisconsin, the dakotas. The only thing we can do is, whats in our own behavior and our own choices. Thats going to be wearing Face Covering when we cant social distance. Trying to be mindful of contacts. Washes hands a lot. Thinks of crowded and congregated places. Remember the pandemic and the actions we take. Definitive until we get to a vaccine, until we get better treatment. I do think these next few weeks will be critical and we do have a chance to not completely reverse this but at least give hospitals breathing room so those are us who work in the hospitals dont have to be inundated and can give the best care to the Covid Patients we can. Also in the next few weeks, of course, thanksgiving. One of the biggest family holidays of the year. Thousands of College Students will be heading home after being on campuses with thousands of other kids. What is your advice to people planning for the holidays, and what are you doing . Its going to be very dicey during holidays. Depends on your risk tolerance. You know when you invite people around your thanksgiving table youre inviting the virus. You can do some things to minimize the risk, seating people six feet apart. Trying to do it outdoors, if weather permits. Limiting limiting the number of people h. Its going to be challenging. I know were going to see cases increase after it. Its almost inevitable. We have to give people tools and common sense advice to minimize the risk. For me for thanksgiving, im not a big thanksgiving person to begin with. And ive already mixed with my parents. Its not that big of a deal and i dont usually do much on thanksgiving anyway except for maybe go to the bar to people watch which i wont be able to do at my home state of pennsylvania. I think its going to be challenging to everybody and christmas is going to follow soon after. I really appreciate your guidance. Every time youre here, you make us smarter and safer. I thank you for joining us. Thank you. And you know with the market soaring, i was going to talk about them today. They opened about 20 minutes ago and the dow is up 70 points. Stocks soared this week after the Pfizer Vaccine news. But we also have a sitting u. S. President who is refusing to accept Election Results. And somehow the markets arent phased by this. The markets also arent phase bid the covid numbers going up. And i want to know why. Lets bring in andrew. Why is this . The fapfizer news is great. Having a winner of the election, great. However, you have the president , and a lot of republicans not accepting Election Results and covid on the rise. Why arent the markets caring . Its a fascinating situation. The conventional wisdom and im not saying its correct or even conventional, if you will, but in the investor class, is to look out 12 months and say to yourself, what does november 2021 look like and given the vaccine news, theres a view that either fooizer is going to pull through or somebody else is going to pull through and by next year hopefully people are not going to be Wearing Masks the way they are. Theres a lot of issues as you described, challenges tweeb now and then. Small businesses that are going to go out of business. Clearly more health challenges. Unfortunately i hate to say it, deaths. And so its going to be a rough ride between now and then, and i should tell you bill ackman, i know you know him, an investor who made a bet against the markets successfully before or right when covid was beginning Just Announced yesterday that hes remade that bet. He made 2. 7 billion making that bet just in march, and hes doing it again, because hes worried that companies are going to go out of business over the next several months and year. I also note bill actikman on twitter urging President Trump to accept the Election Results. Im not sure if President Trump listens to him, but why didnt the investor class care what the president is doing . For better or worse, you know my personal views. I think for worse. The market as i said before, i think the view is that come next november were not going to have not only were going to hopefully not be wearing but the political issue will be behind us. For whatever reason, theyre not putting into into their quote, unquote, risk model. That whatever you think of the worst case scenario, a coupe, a political dysfunction, civil unrest, that at the moment is not part of the calculus. But isnt that amazing . Im not saying that it should be that the probability is 50 or 20 , but in terms of risk models, theyre putting it at a 0 chance that what the president is doing has no impact on us . To so many degree, yes. I think its again, its the vaccine, the Federal Reserve continuing to print cash. Its the potential, by the way, for some form of stimulus plan coming who knows one . Doubtful for christmas but maybe in february or march. Again, depending on what happens. If you think there is political unrest or that somehow we get into a unique political situation in this country. But it is not i would say for the most part, the betting line is that we are going to see a i dont want to see smooth transition, but a transition. Wow. Isnt that amazing . How must that make President Trump feel that wall street, the titans, the rich guys, members of maralago are blowing off this hissy fit hes having . Stunning. That must be upsetting for him. Andrew, thank you. Were going to leave it there. Before we leave, before we close the show, i want to talk a bit more about veterans day. And i want to take a moment to honor our american heros. Theyre the absolute best of us. Those who choose to put their lives on the line for our great nation. One day is not enough to recognize their service. And it seems that that message is getting across to my favorite americans, our kids. Despite the pandemic shutting down Public Events in their town, i want you to see this. Students in the state of massachusetts still found a way to honor their veterans. Their school hosted a drive through parade so local vets could be cheered on and receive welldeserved recognition from the Young Americans they have inspired. I want to thank you again, all of our heros out there and the kids for getting creative and doing something pretty special. As we leave you with the two of the unknown tomb of the unknown soldier, look at this image and think about all the great americans who lost their lives protecting and defending this country. That does it for me this hour. Kasie hunt picks up coverage next. So, uh, yeah, just a silly mistake. I guess i look pretty. Ridiculous. [ chuckles ] no one looks ridiculous, bob. This is what 24 7 protection looks like. Okay. You smell like fish. Sorry. I was talking to jamie. Before we talk about. Taxsaudreys expecting. New . Twins wed be closer to the twins. Change in plans. At fidelity, a change in plans is always part of the plan. Good morning. Im kasie hunt. As we come on the air this morning, President Trump about to make his first public appearance since the election was called for joe biden. Heading to Arlington National cemetery to mark veterans day. What his officials are admitting privately this morning about his election loss even as he publicly marshals the federal government to try to hang on to the presidency. There will be a smooth transition to a second trump administration. All right . Were ready. But its still business as usual for the incoming president , president elect biden brushing off Donald Trumps refusal to concede. New concerns the delay is holding up funds and could hurt National Security. It comes as covid cases skyrocket across the country. Hospitalizations nationwide at an alltime record high.
