Joe biden held a major public rally before the pandemic really shut down campaigning as we know it, it was on the eve of the michigan primary, and who was on stage with him there . Kamala harris. To say the least, this is the biggest moment of bidens campaign since that moment and well see the two of them on stage for the first time as the democratic ticket. And while certainly times have changed since that march appearance, the message really hasnt. This is going to be a message from both candidates exactly what joe biden outlined when he kicked off his Campaign Last april, about a battle for the soul of the nation. Kamala harris, joe biden believes he has a fighter to help him wage that fight especially against donald trump and mike pence. Were learning more stuff about how this pick went down. There was a conversation between those two 90 minutes, in fact, before we learned about the identity of bidens choice. The former Vice President in a new video just released by the campaign saying to Kamala Harris, are you ready to go to work . And also making sure she was going to say yes. She said she was very excited, thrilled to have that opportunity to be part of this campaign. And as far as the selection process, steph, weve been following this veep stakes so closely for the last few months. It was a very closely held secret, biden team very loyal, keeping this under wraps. They initially cast a wide net of potentially democratic candidates, initially 20, more than 20, in fact, candidates. Bidens campaign met with each of those candidates, helped to assemble a dossier with all their strengths and weaknesses. They narrowed that field once again down to 11 candidates. Biden held a series of one on one interviews, virtually and in person with some of those contenders. In the end, though, it was the pick we thought was the favorite all along, Kamala Harris. Joe biden, who served so faithfully, loyally to the nations first black president making history today, announcing for the first time a woman of color will be on a major president ial ticket. All right. Michael. Lets bring in ali vitali in d. C. Senator harris was essentially the choice from wire to wire. What does she bring to the ticket that nobody else does . Reporter she felt like the choice from wire to wire. And its interesting, steph, both in terms of what she brings and in terms of what she doesnt. In terms of what she brings to this ticket, she has been vetted nationally. In her own bid for president , she was out on the campaign trail, taking the pulse of the country from state to state, which seems like a Novel Concept now because that type of campaigning is a relic of this prepandemic past. What she also brings is someone who has a knowledge of how the hill works. She is known for Holding Trump officials to account in some of those hearings she participated in on capitol hill, some of them with viral moments that came out of them. So much of the electorate is sitting at their computers going into the fall. Shes someone who can speak directly with an experien experiencebased rebuke to donald trump and mike pences law and order message, especially debate season when shes standing there toe to toe with mike pence. In terms of what she doesnt bring, this isnt necessarily surprising, Kamala Harris is from california. No geographic benefits that. That was a state that joe biden was likely to benefit from anyway. Weve known joe biden has wanted all along. I would add, though, steph, to put a finer path on this entire veep stakes process, the thing i keep coming back to is think of how many more women have risen to the National Consciousness now because of the way this vetting process was carried out. We knew from the very start that joe biden was going to pick a woman as his Vice President and we also knew from the very large field in the democratic primary that there were a lot of people on the democratic bench. What this process has done is elevated so many more of these women and women of color to the National Consciousness so that the next time all of this comes around, democrats know not only do they have a good bench but they have a very diverse one, too. All right. Before we go to Kristen Welker, ali, quick note, that is a fierce leopardprint mask. Now to Kristen Welker at the white house. Im about to hit you with the hardest question of the morning. This cannot be a surprise. But when he called into the fox news last night, listen. When you read the various political pundits, you would have said that may be the one. A lot of people think shes the dangerous choice. Shes the most liberal person supposedly in the senate. Thats pretty liberal. Shes supposed to be the most. Im not sure thats what the country wants. If it is, weve got problems. Thats all he has got . Shes the most liberal person in the senate . Reporter stephanie, you hit at the core of why some of the president s allies are concerned this morning, because they feel as though the president has really struggled to know how to talk about senator Kamala Harris. They saw that on display during the president ial primary. Remember what he said during the primary, that she had the best rollout. He didnt really have a whole lot to say about her then. Yesterday when we learned about this announcement, which youre absolutely right, a number of white house Officials Saying they were not surprised by it, the president s messaging was a little bit all over the place. In one instance hes calling her the most liberal person in the senate, referring to her as being phony and also horrible for some of her tough questions against Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing but his allies make the point he wasnt very specific in what his criticism is of her and how is that going to resonate with voters . Here some tweets were seeing from President Trump this morning, steph. The president saying Kamala Harris started strong in the democratic primaries and finished weak, ultimately fleeing the race with almost zero support. Thats the kind of opponent everyone dreams of. A little bit of sarcasm there. And here, a little bit of a potential dog whistle in this second tweet, steph, in which he says the suburban housewife will be voting for me. They want safety and are thrilled that i ended the longrunning program where lowincome housing would invade their neighborhood. Biden would reinstall it, and with a bigger forum of cory booker in charge. Invoking the name of another africanamerican senator there. No mistake, i would assume there, steph. Broadly speaking, taking a step back, some of the president s allies feel that he hasnt landed a punch on biden with the name sleepy joe. The question is, is he going to be able to do it now, steph . The suburban housewife, no doubt, whomever she is, i cant imagine she likes being told what to do. The suburban housewife will be voting for me. Wow. Well leave it there. Thank you so much. For this, i am joined by delaware democratic congresswoman lisa blunt rochester, member of joe bidens Vice President ial search committee. Congresswom congresswoman, thank you for joining me this morning. I want to start by playing some of her appearance in detroit. Economic balance is on the ballot in 2020. Reproductive justice is on the ballot in 2020. Health care justice is on the ballot in 2020. Environmental justice is on the ballot in 2020. Racial justice is on the ballot in 2020. And joe biden is on the ballot in 2020. Tell us what she brings to the ticket that no one else does. Well, first of all, good morning, stephanie. I am so excited to be here. This is an incredible day for america. And i think what you see in Kamala Harris in this incredible senator and now the running mate of Vice President joe biden is a woman who has lived experience and an incredible track record. You know, weve talked about what we wanted to provide to the Vice President , the vetting team and, you know, we heard from him. Clearly, he wanted somebody who could start on day one. Kamala harris brings that. She has both experience, having been on the intelligence committee. So when we talk about Foreign Policy and really restoring our standing in the world, Kamala Harris can help the Vice President joe biden do that. But she also has run the largest Legal Organization or agency in the country, in california as the attorney general. And then weve seen her be a fierce advocate for issues across the board, whether its living wage to making sure that our environment is clean, to working on criminal justice reform. And i am just so excited about her being this running mate because shes fearless. Shes ready to start on day one. Most importantly, she is also sympatico with joe biden. They have a special relationship that goes back many years, and starting with his son, beau. And i think Vice President joe biden specifically said he wanted someone to have a similar relationship that he had with barack obama, but this is the last person when a big decision is made and he has to walk out that door, this is the person hes going to talk to. And we are thrilled. We are thrilled. She brings all of that to the table for the American People. She may have had a special relationship with the former vps son. Shes known vp biden for quite some time. But what does it say about this ticket and the former Vice President , that he could see past the two of them had serious runins on the debate stage just months ago. She went after him hard. Yeah. Well, first of all, part of this is the character of joe biden. He doesnt hes not a person who holds grudges. He realizes that campaigning is campaigning and that he wasnt concerned about one minute on a stage. He was concerned about the future of this country. And people are struggling right now. And so for him, that was the number one target, you know, who can i run with and, more importantly, who can govern . And so i think what youve seen is that shes also a fierce competitor, and she will be able to take on donald trump and mike pence handedly, with a fierceness. President trump regularly argues that he is holding the economy up. Without him, the economy would tank. Before senator harris was selected, jp morgan analyst, jp morgan. Remember, the president adores wall street, he adores investors, the markets. Jp morgan said as it relates to the economy, Kamala Harris is largely centrist. Can the president successfully portray her as a farleft liberal knowing her actual track record . Its kind of interesting to me, watching the president in this moment. Name calling maybe worked a few years ago but, like i said, people are hurting right now. And so what theyre looking for are people that can really, really attack covid19 and this virus that has affected peoples lives and the economy, because our livelihoods have been attacked. So the fact that, you know, hes going to try to find ways to call her names or bring out these Little Things that, you know i dont even know what hes going to try to do. People arent going to fall for that this time. You know, it is just we are literally our democracy is at stake. This election is at stake. Our economy. Peoples lives are at stake. And so i think what you will find is that whats great about Kamala Harris and joe biden is that they are pragmatic and they are progressive and those are not mutually exclusive. This time the president will have to speak for his track record when people ask themselves, are you better off . Thank you so much for joining me. Now i want to bring in our next guest, valerie jarrett, former Senior Adviser to president obama who no doubt is smiling from ear to ear this morning. Valerie, welcome. Thank you. Good morning. What does this choice mean for the black community and black women specifically . Well, look, i think senator harris emerged from a very strong field. Shes obviously well qualified. This is historic. And so in that sense, of course, its important to the africanamerican community. I think its also important to all of america. She has a proven track record of leadership at the local, state and federal level. She has certainly held her own and showed that she could go up against tough opponents. And i think Vice President biden saw that. He also saw after she pulled out of the race how she got behind his efforts. She has been a fierceless campaigner for him. And i think the two of them are a dynamic duo that will show the country that better days are ahead. I completely agree that President Trump now has to run on his record and having lost 160 million 160,000 americans, millions of americans losing their jobs, the tensions that weve seen, racial tensions that have been historic, but have come to a head. The kind of leadership we need right now in our country, stephanie, these two can deliver. Theyre going to spend the next few months earning the trust of the American People. But she did pull out of the president ial race. She couldnt get the traction she needed in when she was going for it herself. President obama, your former boss, said joe biden nailed the decision in choosing senator harris. What does she have as a partner to joe biden that she didnt have on her own when she, herself, was running for president . Look, i think shes extraordinarily talented. She was up against a very tough field. Obviously, Vice President biden emerged, but he saw in her a strength of character, a tenacity, experience, a relentless campaigner and someone who he uniquely decided could help him govern our country Going Forward. It was a terrific field that he had to choose from. When in our history we have so many talented people in contention for Vice President , but only he can think of who is going to be the person who i want to work with for the next four years, and i cant imagine he could have done any better. The fact that she pulled out of the race, shes now been tested, shes been seasoned, shes been vetted. And ive been with her on the campaign trail. Ive seen how she connects with the American People. And i think this is not just a victory for the democratic party. I think its a victory for america, and i cant wait for the two of them to get out there together a little later on today. America will see what i already know. I can see, i can feel what a bright day you think this is. But i want to get serious about what the next few months are going to look like and the ugly side of politics. You wrote a letter to Media Outlets before harris selection, calling on the media to treat the Vice President ial candidate fairly. How worried are you about the role racist and sexual stereotypes are going to play in this campaign . We already saw it this morning with the tweets you mentioned, racial trope, appealing to suburban housewives, telling them what to do. The reason that this group of women tried to get out ahead of even the announcement of the candidate, stephanie, we wanted everybody to be on notice. Ive never seen senator harris respond to those kinds of criticisms. She rises above it, as well she should. It is our job to have her back, our job to call out the media, to call out our friends, to call out her opponents when they come after her, as we know they will. The question to the media and everyone else is, look, when youre thinking about describing her, would you use the same language to describe a man . And if you wouldnt, dont do it. Why are we calling women mean, women nasty . It isnt just directed at her. Weve seen it directed at members of the press. We need a level playing field. And i think in 2020, women are half the population, were half the workforce. Our voices are going to be heard to hold everyone accountable. And so thats why we got out early. Youll hear more from us later, organizations such as times up. Im on the board of times up, tina chen, calling out any racist, sexist remarks, whether theyre subtle or blatant, were not going to let anyone get away with it. Perhaps the president wants to go visit the suburbs. The amount of suburban housewives that exist in 2020 are shrinking every single day. Right. Valerie jarrett, thank you for joining us. Joe biden has selected his running mate, the real test for senator Kamala Harris will be in the swing states. The same battleground that President Trump managed to win over in 2016. I want to go first to ellison barber in florida. Youve been talking to voters in miami. What are they telling you . Reporter hey, stephanie. A lot of people we spoke to were already supporting joe biden or at least leaning in that direction. Their initial reaction to harris joining the ticket is assignment. Largely because of the historic nature of her candidacy. Here is some of what voters here in miami have told us so far. Just the underrepresentation. Thats very important aim for everyone to look up to and be hopefully to bring about some real change. Joe biden really needed someone on the ticket who represented kind of a bridging together of the divides in our country and i think Kamala Harris fits that bill perfectly. Shes a progressive thinker. Shes very much on immigration, which is good. So i think it was a wise choice. Reporter miami, of course, has a large hispanic community. Theres a lot of first and Second Generation americans here. A lot of people we spoke to said the fact that Kamala Harris is the child of immigrants matters a lot to them. They say all of this is a moment of pride and progress for our country. Stephanie . Thanks, ellison. To the battleground state of wisconsin where Shaquille Brewster is in milwaukee. Shaq, whats the feeling there . Reporter youre also hearing a lot of excitement. The reason we keep coming back to milwaukee, this is a place where the lack of democratic enthusiasm in 2016 helped President Trump win the state. You are the owner of rising grand cafe. What did you think when you heard Kamala Harris was on the ticket . I was very excited. Being a single mom, africanamerican woman with two daughters growing up, its amazing for her to be a president ial pick and be on the ticket. Its a game changer, you know. Its changing history and thats what i want. Reporter your 15yearold daughter was a little skeptical when she heard Kamala Harris. What was her opinion . Actually, it was my 21yearold. She was a little skeptical. She wants to make sure her agenda is what it is. Shes a millennial. Shes looking at everything right now. And thats what i want her to be. I want her to, you know, challenge her own thoughts and make sure whoever she is voting for has her own agenda. Thank you very much. I also want to mention, stephanie, i spoke to someone who supports senator sanders, who i have been in contact with for some time and he was very excited that joe biden chose senator harris. Youre hearing that enthusiasm here in milwaukee. Why all this matters to you, Debbie Stabinow of michigan, a state that President Trump won in 2016. Your state is key. Yes. Local headline there this morning, Michigan Democrats tout harris as republicans slam her. How is senator harris going to impact the race there . Stephanie, its always great to be with you. People are very, very excited about joe biden and Kamala Harris. And its actually a twofer for us because we get to keep the wonderful governor who will continue to work during the pandemic. And a ticket that will not only win but govern for the country and heal the soul of the country, as joe biden has talked about over and over again. I mean, this is a very exciting moment. Rnc chair mcdaniel lives in michigan like you. She says senator harris would likely, quote, be in charge for the next four years if biden is elected. What do you think about that . Well, im not sure. I guess is that the best they can do . I think theyre struggling to figure out what to say because joe biden is, first of all, so strong, so experienced. He has been in charge of the largest Attorney Generals Office in the country, only second to the United States attorney general, someone with a strong record, who has done a wonderful job in the senate. We worked together on so many different things. In fact, one of the big we were the first small group, Kamala Harris, cory booker, Chuck Schumer and i, to really raise Racial Disparities back in april. We put out a report. She is there, over and over again, as a strong voice. And look what she has done in terms of her role on judiciary. I mean, issue after issue. Shes going to come in and start day one. Theres no practice here. Theres not any worry of her capability to come in and get going. Lord knows, stephanie, we have a lot of work. People in michigan see the president is turning his back, republicans are turning their back. I dont have to explain that to Kamala Harris or joe biden. We just cant get to november fast enough. We have to win this election and bring in new leadership in the country and stop losing so many precious souls in america because of this pandemic and the incompetency and lack of national strategy. People of michigan, theyre hurting. They need to get things done, not pretend. This president stands up last weekend saying he is helping. He didnt. People are losing their apartments and homes today. Can you explain that to the American People . Because the president gets on that stage and says were going to youre going to get extended Unemployment Benefits. Were going to work out this eviction thing. Does that executive order actually have the power to do that for the American People . Because right now given the message from that executive order and what the president is saying, theres a lot of people, including people in your state, who think he is, quote, unquote, coming to the rescue. You know, stephanie, i think its actually cruel because its raising peoples expectations. He could do something to help. First of all, he could come back and negotiate and deal with all of it, improving testing, help children safely go back to school and all the other issues but its a pretend situation. He stands up and signs something that says his cabinet should look to see if theres a problem and what they should do about it. We know. We already did something about it. The eviction protections ended and he didnt continue that. Same thing instead of continuing critical dollars, 600 a week to help pay the bills, keep the lights on, keep the roof over folks heads and food on the table. 400 but states right now who are facing layoffs of health care workers, teachers, firefighters, Police Officers and so on, he says no, you have to come up with 25 of the money. So he wont help states who already have been bleeding on this pandemic. And i think he pretends to help people but requires the states to decide, do i layoff the firefighter to put another 100 a week in the pocket of somebody in my state who desperately needs it who is out of work, or do i fund the firefighter and not help the person unemployed . He sets up something that when i looked at it, i couldnt believe it, because it pretends. Thats what he does. He pretends. People in michigan are going to know. Theyre going to know this week whether they have additional money. Theyre going to know whether or not they have protections from losing their home. Theyre going to know. On top of everything else, he does a payroll tax cut for employees that, at best means you have to pay it back during the holidays. Merry christmas. Happy hanukkah. You get a check. Pay it back, the delayed payroll tax or he somehow makes it permanent and blows a hole in social security. So, none of this makes sense, none of it. It means they dont care i was in the room when Mitch Mcconnell told everybody to start negotiating the c. A. R. E. S. Act. When he wants to get something done, he gets it done. We had five days from start to finish with fworkss until it passed the senate. The reality is, they dont want to do anything. And stephanie, you know, and you talk about this all the time. They put a safety net under the stock market, right . Theyve got a safety net under wall street. Thats the one they wanted. For families, folks out of work across the country, no, thats not a priority for them. And thats what were fighting for, for the people who are trying to survive this pandemic, until we can get to a Biden Harris Administration and, as joe likes to say, build back better. Lord knows weve got a lot of rebuilding to do. All right. Thank you so much for joining me this morning. I sincerely appreciate it. Always good to remind our audience, its not a payroll tax cut. Its a holiday. Youll be getting that bill right around christmas. Coming up, a california judge has ordered uber and lyft have to start classifying drivers as employees. You know what that means. She worked nights and weekends till she earned herself a masters degree. She was running in a marathon when a man behind her collapsed from cardiac arrest. And using her experience saved this mans life. So why do i think there should be more people like carmen bravo in this world . Because that man. Was me. Heres your iced coffee america runs on dunkin history says, Fine Jewellery for occasions. We say, forget occasions. Fine jewellery for yourself. snap were mejuri, the new luxury. This morning, new questions and pushback from two of the countrys ride share giants after a judge in california ruled that, for now, uber and lyft must classify drivers as employees instead of independent contractors, ensuring that the companies provide those drivers with benefits. In a new oped, the ceo of uber is asking for a third way to classify gig workers, arguing drivers should be able to keep the flexibility of a contractor while also receiving the benefit s of a fulltime employee. Uber ceo who penned that oped joins us now. Dar dara khosrowshahi. Good to see you. Youre less than ten days away from having to reclassify your drivers. We think the ruling was unfortunate. We respect, obviously, the law and the order of the judge. We have about eight days now where theres a stay. We are going to go back to the court and appeal the ruling and hope that the court reconsiders. And its up to the court to reconsider or not. If the court doesnt reconsider, then in california, its hard to believe well be able to switch our model to fulltime employment quickly. I think uber will shut down for a while and really i think the big question is, in november with prop 22, we have a proposition out there that puts forward what we believe is the best of both worlds, which is our drivers, the vast majority of which are 41 ratio, want flexibility and dont want to be fulltime workers, where drivers can continue to have the flexibility that they have but they can enjoy the protections, benefit fund, earning standard so that theyve got the protections that many associate with fulltime work. So, were hoping that in november the california voters can speak and were confident that this better way, which is kind of the best of both worlds, will be the way Going Forward for california. Why do you need to wait for november . Yes, this new way could be better if they change the rules and all sort of gig businesses did this, but uber is giant. You could just do it yourself. Well, we are operating right now as we have been historically. And in california we changed our model pretty substantially. For example, riders in california pay drivers directly. Drivers can set their own price, as an independent contractor would. Drivers have all the flexibility to decide whether or not they want to take a ride or not. We think we comply by the laws but if the judge and the court finds that were not and dont give us a stay to get to november, then well have to essentially shut down uber until november when the voters decide. It would be really unfortunate at an historical time of unemployment in california. It would put baswaths of our drivers out of work. It would be really, really unfortunate. Obviously, we would look to comply with the law long term and were hoping that the law gives us the best of both worlds. Youve got the haves and the havenots and you can have, actually, a better way. But, dara, that almost sounds like youre playing a game of chicken. You would really, eight days from now, have to shut town uber in the state of california and wouldnt be able to reopen until november . It would take you that long . Well, to flip over hopefully, the courts will reconsid reconsider. By no means do we want this to happen. But lets say they dont. Well if they dont, then were going to have to work to move to a fulltime model. Its essentially how uber started, which was a black car service with very few cars on the road and much higher prices. So we will look to flip to a fulltime model but we cant flip this is a model we built over ten years. We cant go out and hire tens of thousands of people directly overnight. So, it would take a significant amount of time to switch over. We have teams thinking about it, working on it. We dont think its the likely outcome, by the way. And we would look to get back on the road as quickly as possible. You would just get a much smaller service, much higher prices and probably a service thats focused in the center of cities versus a bunch of the smaller cities or the suburbs that we operate in right now. Thats the reality. Its not a game of chicken one way or the other. Its up to the courts. Were going to comply with the law and we will look to get going again. It will be a very, very Different Service when we get going. All right. Lets say youre going to keep on driving. You announced last week that uber corporate employees can work from home until june 2021 and they can receive 500 bucks stipend for their home office. On your website youre also going to reimburse drivers for ppe yet weve seen countless images of drivers using saran wrap and other things to keep passengers safe that probably wouldnt keep drivers save. How much can drivers spend on p ppe and do they know they have these benefits . Drivers absolutely know they have these benefits, committed over 30 million as it relates to getting masks out there, getting ppe out there. Weve got the best technology out there. We have Image Recognition software to make sure that the driver is wearing a mask. And having a mask is the number one way to make you safe. We also make sure that riders are Wearing Masks as well, and were working on Additional Technology for kind of plastic dividers, and were testing that in a number of markets. So drivers very much know that the ppe is available to them. They can pick it up in our Green Light Center or were mailing it to them. And they get this equipment for free because safety needs to come first and it certainly comes first for us. Lets talk about Unemployment Benefits. The c. A. R. E. S. Act Unemployment Benefits extended to gig economy workers. If that is not renewed, is there anything youre going to do for your drivers that dont feel safe, that are in highrisk categories that cant really get out there and drive right now . We have done something for our drivers drivers shouldnt drive because of a health condition, we essentially pay them for two weeks, based on their historical earnings, to maek sure they dont feel the need to get out there and potentially get others sick. This is something that we did right away when the coronavirus was starting up. We didnt want this, you know, choice to earn. But if your earning puts someone in danger, we were the First Company in the industry to do it. Its an absolute. And weve had that program in place for some time. Were seeing people leave cities like l. A. , San Francisco and new york, how much does that hurt ubers business . Well, our we got two big parts of our business, right . Were a Technology Platform thats powering this these Employment Opportunities and then transportation opportunities. The uber rides business is now substantial. We talk to our investors about it and as cities especially in the u. S. Are shut down, the uber rides business is down substantially on a year on year bas basis. Europe, International Markets are opening up much faster. Were a global company. Home delivery of food, uber eats, that business, were helping restaurants. That business is up on a year on year basis. Our rides business isnt doing as well as we want it to. Any earnings opportunity out there to be in your home or being bought. All right. I think ive lost my signal with dara. Were going to wrap it up. Always good to see you. Thank you for joining me this morning. Weve talked a lot about Kamala Harris as joe bidens running mate. Does she bring any extra voters in november . Extra voters in november . The open road is open again. And wherever youre head,is t. Book direct at choicehotels. Com. To bit never bothered me. Dust . Today well see former vp biden and his running mate Kamala Harris for the first time together in person since the historic announcement. We know what experience she brings to the ticket whachlt voters will she bring to the polls come november . Thats what actually matters. Steve kornacki is at the big board. What have you got . Question, of course. Kamala harris ran for president , but dropped out before the primaries began. So we cant really go back and look at this primary or that primary and which voter group she was or wasnt breaking through. But taking you through the big picture here for democrats, here is one of the concerns from 2016, one of the hopes for 2020. It has to do with africanamerican turnout. Way back in 2004, john kerry, black turnout with john kerry was 60 . Look what happened when barack obama ran, four years later, first black president , black turnout from 6 0 to 65 . When obama got reelected in 2012, black turnout went up between 2008, his fist campaign, and 2012, his reelection campaign, went from 65 to 66 . And what happened in 2016 . Hillary clinton and tim kaine, it went down to 59 . Pretty much back to that level it was in 2004. Thats one of the questions for democrats, can they get back to that obama level of black turnout . They expect to win the black vote overwhelmingly. But can they get that turnout level of those two elections they won or is it going to be back in 2004, 2016, two elections they lost . One of the hopes there is first ever africanamerican woman on the democratic ticket, could that do something to stir black voter interest . And get that number back up there . One of the possibilities well see here. Well see as the campaign unfolds with Kamala Harris, stephanie. Steve, thank you. As the coronavirus continues to spread, College Sports seems less likely to be played this fall. Yesterday, the big ten and pac12 College Football conferences postponed their seasons. Nbcs Morgan Chesky is outside at t stadium in arlington, texas. What can you tell us about this . Well, a lot is still up in the air, steph. We know yesterdays big decision saw with of the power five conferences make that formal decision that they wont be playing football, or really any other fall sport until at least 2021. Now you have the acc, the s. E. C. And the big 12, all kind of trying to decide what comes next. Sources do say that the big 12 conference as of this moment will continue to plan to have a football season albeit a reduced one this upcoming fall. The s. E. C. Commissioner has said he wants to speak directly with officials with the big ten, with the pac12, to see what led them to decide to cancel their season before they make a decision in the s. E. C. Acc also saying they are flexible at this point in time, as theyre trying to figure out a way forward to continue to have those fall sports in play. Keep in mind, this isnt just football were talking about, steph. This is a myriad of other sports, tens of thousands of student athletes will be impacted, and in addition to the potential economic impact, and a lot of these college towns. So President Trump, one of the most outspoken advocates to keep this season moving forward, however, at this point in time, Officials Say that really theyre relying solely on the advice of a team of medical personnel that essentially debriefed them on what the potential risk could be Going Forward. And we know that players, a vast number of them, are basically advocating for the chance to continue to play, believing it can be done so, in a safe manner. Steph .
