Administration urges lets be patient. Were just going to allow the process to move forward. Allow the facts to unfold. A lot of stories and then theres the truth. And maddys legacy. This young woman overdosed and died, like so many others, but her obituary made national headlines. I know it touched my heart. Ill talk to the police chief whose exceptional response is a call to everyone to help end this opoid epidemic once and for all. We begin this morning with the president offering his opinion on what the midterms should be about. But does it match what voters care about or what the actual candidates are talking about . I have a great team here to break all of it down. But first, let me tell you where we stand with just 18 days to go before voters cast their ballots. The president waking up this morning in scottsdale, arizona. That is just a short drive away from the city of mesa, where hell be holding another rally later tonight. Why arizona . Because the Republican Senate candidate there, Martha Mcsally is in a dead heat with her opponent, kristin sinima. The race there is nearly as tight as montana where he was last night. What does the president think will put republicans over the top . Listen to this. This will be an election of kavanaugh, the caravan, law and order and common sense. Its going to be an election of those things. Well, that might be what the president wants to talk about but it is not necessarily what the voters want to talk about. According to a new nbc news wall street journal report, the economy is the top concern. Something the president spent very little time on. The immigration as the fifth most issue. But the president wants to make it a number one issue, pushing a thinly veiled Conspiracy Theory that democrats somehow helped create a caravan of migrants headed to the border. Please listen. Now, were starting to find out, and i wont say it 100 , ill put a little tiny question mark at the end. But were probably not going to need it. We have the fake news back there. A lot of moneys been passing through. People should come up and try and get to the border. By election day. Because they think thats a negative for us. There are those that say that caravan didnt just happen. Didnt just happen. We got the real news right here, sir. Thats not a question mark, thats nonsense. Meanwhile, democrats have been trying to keep the focus on health care. The top issue for their base. The republicans have started running ads on that too. Claiming they want to keep obamacares coverage with people who have preexisting conditions. Democrats are trying to factcheck in real time, pointing out that many of these very republicans previously voted to get rid of all obamacare, including the coverage they now claim to support. Please listen. I voted to protect people with preexisting conditions to make sure Insurance Companies were forced to give them health care. The reality is we took the vote and during the vote martha voted to repeal these protections. Seven different times i voted while i was in the United States congress in favor of covering preexisting illness. The one mechanism thats been in place to protect that, he has been against, relentlessly attacking it from the beginning. They shouldnt be forced to pay the prices theyre paying now. His lawsuit is so reckless because theres no backup here. Theres no backup plan for preexisting conditions if hes successful. Okey dokey. I want to bring in nbcs Peter Alexander at the white house. Peter, walk us through this, because the president has been talking about protecting coverage for preexisting conditions. Please factcheck this and walk us through republicans here. Because many of them have not supported it in the past. This one should be easy. The midterms may be a referendum on this president , theyre also heavily focused on health care. You showed those numbers. In the last month, new figures show that nearly half of all the ads airing in congressional races Mention Health care. Its a particularly prominent message. The centerpiece for a lot of them. The president in recent days has been trying to make this a winning issue for republicans. Hes misrepresenting the facts, arguing republicans support people with preexisting conditions. The Justice Department under the Trump Administration backed a lawsuit by texas and 19 other states arguing obamacare or the provisions in it including protections for preexisting conditions are unconstitutional. Several republican candidates this cycle, some you just showed, josh holly in missouri, scott walker in wisconsin, Martha Mcsally, showing her in arizona, theyre touting their support for people with preexisting conditions. Despite the fact they previously opposed obamacare. Their actions show they opposed opposition to obamacare and their support for that lawsuit. Theyve been against obamacare just to be very clear there. The senates top republican, mitch mcconnell, also saying this week that Senate Republicans could revisit efforts to repeal obamacare depending on what happens in the midterm elections next month. So the bottom line, its like the president is convinced that his supporters, like events in that rally last night in montana, should believe anything he says even if his actions and his allies actions are exactly the opposite. The president creates extraordinary enthusiasm but if you needed to see a doctor if you had a preexisting condition, the truth would matter. I want to bring my panel in. Mark thompson, my dear friend and radio host with sirius xm. And evan siegfried, a republican strategist. Maria kamar, the president and ceo of voter latino. 18 days to go. The president is pushing conspiracy theories. We could say thats crazy, why hes doing that, its nonsense. He pushed conspiracy theories when he ran for president and he won. Those conspiracy theories, many of which are straightup lies, work for his base. But his policies which dont work for his base quietly work for a lot of Corporate America and a lot of rich people. So will this twopronged strategy of hooking up the rich and lying to his base to suit them on a cultural basis, will that work here . First of all, immigration is the one issue that republicans say is the most important issue going into the midterms. But its not important to voters. But its important to republican voters. But theres a second thing here. The number two issue for republican voters, the economy. Whereas with democratic voters, independent voters, its health care. Other polls have shown that. Economy, yougov. But trump, he said its actually my fault theyre coming because the economy is so good. So its another way of subtlety reminding people this economy is mine and you need to show up there. And i think that republicans, when they hear those two issues, it really fires them up. At the same time, you hear through the rest of the country, 36 of the country says were headed in the wrong direction and the vast majority of the americans say the tax cuts, the economy, their financial situations, have not improved themselves. Theyre not feeling the benefits of this great economy since donald trump came president. Were seeing a momentum surge among democrats and donald trump and republicans need to find something that fires us up and the kavanaugh effect, its like a sugar high. We have to get back to stuff that really fires up the base. The threat of a caravan of migrants coming to steal your jobs is much more potent than brett kavanaugh. The threat of a caravan of migrants possibly coming to fill the thousands and thousands of open jobs that we have. Maria, what do we do about this theory, this Conspiracy Theory that the president is putting out there, possibly democrats are behind creating this kavanaugh . What do democrats do to fact check that and combat it . And two, what needs to be done to get latinos enthused enough to get out there and vote . I think on the caravan front, i think the democrats need to keep doing basically not get distra distracted. The caravan will absolutely work for the base but not for independent voters and its not going to work for the progressive voters. They need to focus on the issues they do care about, which is health care, which is the economy, and which is the fact there are still families and children in cages. If you recognize where he knows hes in trouble and thats why hes going there, but the republicans recognize that immigration is such a volatile topic that after the tax plan did not stick, they decided to run over 14,000 antiimmigrant ads in primary districts just so they can actually have a chance. Thats the only thing that he has. The economy is not trickle down. People most people still feel incredibly frustrated. And the health care is actually something that is moving a lot of moderate republicans. They dont like the tone of this president. They dont like the fact theyre constantly going on a roller coaster. They recognize by putting members of congress that have their values, youre going to put a check and balance in the system of how our government was actually designed. On the front, stephanie, with the latino voters, the fact is 55 of latino voters have yet to be contacted by a Political Party or an organization why . And that is because and that is because unfortunately the majority of latinos are the majority of latino voters are literally under the age of 29. Theyre firsttime voters or infrequent voters. The government has to start reimagining how they do the work. Theyve had some time since 2016 well, thats the now ten days to go. Mark, walk us through this, where democrats are right now. It might be nonsense when you hear the president say we create jobs, they create mobs. Thats his jam. And creating those slogans worked for him. Did democrats have their message right now . I think so. I believe that its happening in individual districts. Some people are looking for this one single Democratic National figure. But thats premature. Thats when 2020 comes around. The messaging is coming from the individual districts where the outstanding candidates are for congress and governorship. We can go on and on and on. Heidi hide caeitkamp is the mes. Nixon was acting like trump is now, being very, very desperate in 1970, right before those midterms, calling everybody the mob. Ill tell you Something Else too. I wouldnt have said this last week. Because i didnt think the khashoggi story would have the legs that it might have going into the midterms. But even the republican base, and i think even evan would admit this, amongst republicans, theres some concern and some disdain sometimes for the relationships that United States has with other countries, especially countries like saudi arabia. I even hear republicans call my show and say that. So now this perception that trump is buddybuddy and jared is so buddybuddy with saudi arabia, while they are seemingly covering up the death of a journalist, while hes attacking journalists still. He was we actually have that sound bite, lets play it. But greg is smart. By the way, never wrestle him. You understand that . Never. Any guy that can do a body slam, hes my kind hes my guy. Okay, but does this matter . So that obviously is the president talking about fortay whos running in montana who last year did body slam a journalist. But just stay with me on this. Does that matter to voters . Because those who are not politicos, those who dont watch the news every day, when you just talk to people on the street who are tired of politics who say i want to lead a better life is focusing on Something Like the president s making a huge mistake backing fortay who body slammed a journalist. Do you think voters care . I think theyve tuned it out. I think this administration has been nothing but drama. I dont think theres going to be a khashoggi effect. The polling has been asking about saudi arabia what do you think happened to him. People care about their health care. They care about the Government Holding the president accountable. They care about whether or not they can pay their bills and if the good economy, which is fantastic, is going to impact them, and they say its not, its leaving them behind. I think thats much more important. I also think youre seeing a lot of democrats have a very good benefit from their house candidates and several gubernatorial their house candidates are going out and doing gangbuster numbers. At the same time, you have the next great white hope in beto orourke whos going to lose by nearly double digits. Everybody says thats because texans arent him him. Thats not it. We talk about hold on, hold on. Back it up. If he doesnt win, of course it will be because texans arent behind him. People saying its texans would are wrong about beto. These are people on social media. When you actually go out and look at orourke and his campaign, yes, they raised 38 million but they cant really spend it on anything. Maria raised a good point in that 55 of latino voters havent been contacted. Guess Whose Campaign hasnt been contacting latino voters or setting up an adequate organization from the get go, beto orourke. For everybody talking about writing these growing profiles, that hes the next coming of obama, they need to look at the fact that the mans campaign has been incompetent. Maria, do you want to comment on that . This is the biggest challenge right now. The way the democratic inf infrastructure is set up. Theres barely any infrastructure where theres opportunity to grow a marketplace so to speak, stephanie why . That is georgia, north carolina, arizona and texas. And that is because thats where the biggest population boom is happening. Youre seeing a whole bunch of industry leaving the midwest, going into the south. Youre seeing Young Professionals flooding the south who are looking for those jobs. Youre seeing an explosion of the latino population. Well, thats for a longer segment. They have to have the come to jesus moment and recognize hold on. If this if President Trump winning if two Supreme Court justices, if a Record Number of federal judges, most of whom are under the age of 50, is not a come to jesus moment for democrats i will share with you. Right now the republicans are outspending the democrats six dollars to one online doing Digital Strategy. My organization, all we do is Digital Strategy and trying to get folks to understand you can get people excited online using social media has been incredibly difficult. Its not that i cant find folks to register, its literally our funding dries out and people say we have enough voters. People in the Democratic Party have to recognize we cant count on an aging voting base. We have to make sure were also expanding that. The Latino Community right now is at the cross hairs. Theyre scared. Theyre concerned. Theyre fighting like hell. But we need to make sure were building that infrastructure. I can tell you that as can i just say one thing . Yes, please, yes. President Trumps Campaign had no infrastructure. It was a circus rodeo of nonsense. So whats blocking the democrats . What he played very well was social media and media. He got millions of dollars on free advertising constantly because everybody in the networks, they were all playing his tune all the time. He knew how to effectively use surrogates and he knew exactly how to play effectively using social media. He knew that he could create an echo chamber on facebook. He knew he could create an echo chamber using radio. And that his message was con isnt itly repeated. He used it very effectively. Last point. With all due respect, i dont see the doom and gloom for the democrats that evan and maria see i dont say doom. Well, it sounds pretty bad. Im talking about bad but, you know, even in texas. Texas is a big state. If there was a month left, betos chance would be better. Mark, he gets a ton of attention. But in terms of infrastructure, you need an organization on the ground. But, and to marias point, a lot of the people in those polls are not the young people and the firsttime voters. They dont do this with cell phones. They still poll maybe the usual poll of about 1200 people that are old and regular voters. He still might poll it out. I think betos going to do very well. Hes already done very, very well. I think the democrats we will, the democrats, let me be clear, the democrats will win the house i believe. Another sleeper is mississippi. Mike espys doing a lot better than people expect. If he win, we have a greater chance of winning the senate. We have to take a commercial break. Guess what, candidates . In every party, youve got 18 days left. Get out there and knock on some doors. The most important thing for every viewer out there to do is exercise your right to vote. Maria, gentlemen, thank you all so much. Great conversations. Coming up, an nbc news exclusive. Twitter taking action after nbc alerts the social media giant about bots spreading prosaudi talking points in the disappearance of journalist jamal khashoggi. Plus, the heartbreaking story. This one got me. Of a young mother who was lost to the opoid epidemic like thousands and thousands of others. Im going to be speaking to the Vermont Police chief whose sober reflection on that tragedy is serving as a wakeup call we all need to this crisis thats plaguing the nation. Mr. President , do you believe khashoggi is dead . It certainly looks that way to me. Its very sad. Certainly looks that way. Mr. President what are you considering for possible consequences based on those well, it will have to be very severe. I mean, its bad, bad stuff. But well see what happened. President trump finallied y n admining. The shift in tone comes as the washington post, not the intelligence community, the post reports conservatives are mounting a Whisper Campaign to smear khashoggi and defend the president. Meanwhile, u. S. Intelligence officials are telling nbc that while they do not have a smoking gun in this case, it is inconceivable that the saudi prince had nothing to do with khashoggis death. Turkish Officials Say theyre now expanding the search area into two new locations. The forest and another turkish city about 55 miles outside of istanbul. Heres another piece of the story thats messaging. Coming from saudi arabia. Nbc news has the exclusive reporting that twitter has now taken down hundreds of bots that were pushing prosaudi talking points about khashoggis disappearance. Ben collins is an nbc tech and media reporter who helped break the story. Ben, this one is amazing to me. Twitter claims they have pulled down millions of bots in the recent months. Walk us through details of how this went down. We know he was around for a long time. But popped back up in recent weeks to talk about the khashoggi situation. We dont know where theyre coming from. We know what they want to get out, right that saudi arabia has nothing to do with this. That al jazeera, who is owned by qatar, of this whole saudi arabia situation, that they are fake news. Like thats a big thing. That everybody in the west is fake news. So theyve popped up, like hundreds of these automated accounts we found pretty easily, they were tweeting the same things at the same time every day. Okay, but this is what is stunning. You and some of our other colleagues at nbc are the ones who flagged this to twitter. It is as though twitter, which has become the main source of news for millions of people, are they now crowd sourcing their legal and standards practices . Isnt it stunning that you guys are the one, yo, jack, have you looked at this . I got to say, this has been going on like three years now. Explain this to us. Going to twitter and facebook saying these are tolls, please take this seriously. What do they say . Now theyre taking it seriously. Theyre taking the doll seriously but is it not stunning theyre not doing it . That is a way to look at it, yeah, absolutely. But look, heres the deal with this. They are trying now to stop this. We should give them some plaudettes for that, right. Three years ago, they thought this was all hilarious, maybe this is how democracy works, thousands or tens of thousands of people can pretend to be, you know, millions of people, right . Where did they learn this . School house rock . Absolutely no idea. Its very weird. Look, theyre trying now. What they did is they got rid of these accounts and they said, look, we found more before you even brought this to us. We have, you know, its in the thousands at least. Thats what we know. Theyre trying now to crack down on this and its helpful because this stuff is weird. Like, they were the number one trend on twitter on sunday about it was a prosaudi arabian hash tag that was using bots, using real people too, and they got to the number one trend in the entire world on twitter to back the saudi government. But theyre trying now. Hey, twitter and facebook, try harder. Ben, amazing reporting. I mean, that, Public Service right there. Coming up, wall street journals wild week. A wild week on wns finally winding down. The markets just opened a day after the dow dropped more than 300 points. That drop, well, has been on worries of Rising Interest Rates and fears of the developing trade war between the United States and china. Joining me now to break it down, the principle of risk reversal advisers, a cnbc contributor, my dear friend dan nathan. The president says its because j. Powells crazy and hes raising Interest Rates too fast. When the market goes up, he says its all about him and we should talk about it more. Hes obviously scapegoating the fed. That he doesnt get blamed. We know its a steady march since the election. The s p 500s up 30 since then. The nasdaq is up 50 since then. I dont think the president can take a whole heck of a lot of credit for a lot of that. Definitely not the differential between the nasdaq, right, because theyre really not that effective. When you think of some of the major stocks in the nasdaq. Theyre driving the performance by the president s policies. As far as the volatility in the market, i think whats most important, the market has a maga problem and not the maga you think. It is not a make America Great again . Its microsoft, apple, google and amazon. They make up 3. 5 trillion in market cap. 15 of the s p 500. Thats 40 of the nasdaq 100. Over the last two weeks, what has the market shown us . When those four stocks go down together, it takes the whole market down with it. These stocks are going down why . Because now theyre valued at over 1 trillion and holders are suddenly saying, wait, maybe theyre not worth that much . Its really about their projected earnings, right, so right now, those four companies are making up a disproportionate of the expected Earnings Growth for the s p 500. That is what markets are valued on. I think thats what is being related right now. If were going to be in a higher Interest Rate world, possibly lower growth, possibly increasingly geo politically. Like think about the thing with saudi arabia is really important. Theyve been a huge thunder of u. S. Tech companies here. You put all that stuff together. You think about 2019 and the benefits we got in 2018 from the tax cuts and then you start to say to yourself, were going to have a lower growth world in 2019. How do i value these companies that are making up a disproportionate amount of the stock market . Can you stay on that . We talk about Jared Kushner and his connection to nbs and all these ceos who did not go to the davos of the middle east. Its not just jared, right . Name your company. Name your hedge fund manager. It seems that all the allstars have been to saudi arabia and had that smiling pick because mbs gave them a huge check. Are they going to have to speak out . I think he made the point blackrock. Were going to continue to do business with the saudis. Maybe a bit more under the radar. I think whats important to understand is the saudis are the ones who are funding. Writing these massive checks pushing up u. S. Tech valuations at least in the private market. Thats also helping the public markets. It means these companies dont have to go public sooner than later. Theres less Public Listed Companies like the maga stocks and it pushes more money into those. If you have the spigot shut off from, like, saudi arabia, that will have an adverse effect on u. S. Equity values. How concerned is the market about this trade war with china . Because there was concerned and then the market saw President Trumps nafta 2. 0. They were psyched about it. Theyre not psyched anymore. Everyone realized it was a redo of nafta. Mike greenspan Mike Greenspan . Mike bloomberg said congratulations on renaming it. Were starting to see this in very economic Centric Companies here in the u. S. Look at some of the look at the home builders. Look at the autos. The stocks are telling you theyre concerned about it. Theyre trading at 52week lows. Down dramatically. And massive corruption territory. Theyre making up for a lot of bad performance and economically Sensitive Groups. How about this, the bank stocks are down 10 from their january highs. They cant get going. Wouldnt you think bank stocks would benefit from this riproaring economy we hear from . What did kudlow say, the economy is crushing it . Why is almost every economically Sensitive Group in the stock market here in the u. S. Down significantly from their highs . A lot of them . He go, why is our stock market the only major equity index thats up on the year in 2018 around the world when you think about that . I think theres a confluence of events. You have the Rising Interest Rates. Some real geopolitical issues. You also have slowing global growth. We have a massive diversion or, i guess, dispersion between u. S. Investors and whats going on around the if you dont believe dans right with slowing global growth, listen to christine lagarde, she said it a week ago. If you believe the president when he says we never cover the markets, just watch this show every day at 9 00. Please turn up the volume for this. I want you to turn to an issue that we dont talk about nearly enough. Not here at least. When you look at this photo, this beautiful photo, you might think mother, daughter, sister, friend. That right there, madeleine. She was all of those things. She was also a drug addict who lost her life when she was just 30 years old following a long addiction to oxycontin. Her obituary caught my eye. It went viral. It read, in part, quote, it is impossible to capture a person in an obituary. Especially someone whose adult life was largely defined by drug addiction. To some, maddy was a junky. When they saw her addiction, they stopped seeing her. And what a loss for them. Because maddy was hilarious, and warm and fearless and resilient. Many shared madeleines story, often her family words of encouragement and support. The police chief from maddys hometown, brandon deposo, authored a response that struck a different tone. He wrote, quote, why did it take a grieving relative with a good ly t ly the r literary sense to get people to Pay Attention . What about the rest of the victims who were not as beautiful and lived in do downtrodden cities or the rust belt . Hes the chief of police in burlington, vermont. He knows this issue all too well. Im honored he joins us now. Brandon, thank you for what you wrote. Her obituary thank you very much, stephanie. Clearly struck a cord with so many of us. It struck a cord with you too. Why . Well, you know, one of the things that cops will tell you is this happens all the time. That women like maddy are dying every day. And theres so many things we could be doing about it that just actually are going undone. And when People Magazine picked up the story, that was a turning point for me. That was a magazine that doesnt like to talk about ugly difficult things but they did and it took maddy to do it. I said, why did it take so long . This should have been talked about years ago. Walk us through that. You have seen firsthand how much damage the opoid crisis have caused to communities across the country. From 1999 to 2016, more than 200,000 people in the United States died from overdoses related to prescription opioids. Those are massive numbers. And to your exact point, it took a People Magazine article. For me, it was seeing that picture of a beautiful mother. Why arent we talking more about it . I think that its something that we can sweep it under the rug, we will. Because its a difficult topic to address. But we cant look away from it any longer. Each year, in the last few years, more americans have died from overdoses than we lost in the entire vietnam war. Its the number one thing thats accidentally killing americans every day. All right. Well, i want to talk about your post. Because critics say that some of the solutions that you outlined address the symptoms of the problem, not the cause. And one is the use of naloxon. Are those critics right . The critics saying youre just trying to fix things when someone faces an overdose. How about stopping it before we get there . Hey, listen, im a cop. I dont understand the idea that someones dying and calling for help and were not going to go do what it takes to save their lives. When somebodys suffering from diabetes, we dont say tough, im not giving you the medicine. You give them the medicine that keeps them alive, however imperfect that might be. You concluded your post by urging readers to get to work. What can people do . I think the science and the medicine is out there. I think that city governments our mayor here in burlington has taken the lead on this issue. Worked closely with the hospital, with the prison system, with the needle exchange, to get the right science and medicine in place, to actually make a difference. Hopefully we just started a lot of pilots and they will. People need to demand more from their elected officials and their leaders. The science and medicine is clear. But its hard. And if people demand the right thing, i think elected officials will respond. Can we just talk about you and your lifes work for just a moment . Youre one great american. Dartmouth undergrad. 18 years with the u. S. City police department. Now there you are, the chief of police in vermont. Why do you do the work you do . What drives you . We talk so much about all the negatives and this is obviously a negative story. But you and your devotion to helping people and saving people is extraordinary. Listen, i mean, at some level, its a calling. I just swore in a deputy chief john mirad yesterday. He went into the private sector. Made a lot of money and said i just dont care about the money. I think when americans feel they can trust their police leaders, they can trust their police departments, they can trust their mayors. When they feel theres a government out there really working for them compassionately to help them and save their lives, i think that people love that in their dna. I think that ability to do that type of work, just, i dont understand why i have to explain that. Well, i certainly appreciate that you just did. This may be your calling and were luckier for it. I appreciate it. Thanks so much. Coming up, were going inside facebooks war room where theyre fighting fake news ahead of the midterms. But are they adequately equipped to successfully take it on . Facebook is in a mad scramble to intercept fake news. About 24 facebook employees are working in a packed windowless room in california and they are leading that effort. That is a war room. Its outside facebooks war room specifically. We have another 20,000 Company Employees flagging potential threats. Intelligence forces say they are fighting dark forces from russia and iran. Early voters are casting ballots. Can you say that voters are less vulnerable to fake news on your site than they were two years ago given the massive dark forces that we might not be aware of at this point . Absolutely. Were in a fundamentally different place now than we were two years ago. How do you know that . We spent the last two years doing really hard work. We made investments this people. We made the team 20,000 from 10,000. It help us be proactive of identifying these threats and taking action against them. We have seen independent research that have shown the amount of misinformation on facebook has decreased significantly. You spent and you have the results. In march we learned that 87 million users da was the improperly shared. In may facebook had to block 1. 3 billion fake accounts and last month we learned 50 million accounts were hacked. How can people feel they can trust the platform . Those are huge numbers. They are. Just because youre trying hard doesnt mean its getting solved. The research does show the progress we made. Its important to recognize this is an adversarial space. There are threats we have seen in the past. Theres threats were seeing today and we will see tomorrow. Were investing in people and technology so were staying ahead. We got to be proactive in this fight because with 2 billion people around the world using our platform, we have a responsibility to earn their trust and make sure were doing everything for the protection of elections. Is part of that coming to the place where you acknowledge yourself as a media platform. The way facebook makes their money is advertising dollars. When we lose an advertiser, we lose them to you. I cant come out tomorrow and post something on nbc news without there being significant legal and standards. You dont have that. Content is put on your site every day that might not appear dangerous but its a straight up lie. It impacts the way people think. A lot of people get information from facebook. First and foremost facebook is a social media platform where people come to share the messages they want to share in their own voices with friends and families. Its more than friends and family. There are dangerous forces on facebook putting out lies so at some point you have to acknowledge you too are a media platform. I dont think the concept of being abuse on platform means it has to be immediate platform. In 2016 we were too slow to respond to some of that abuse. Thats why these investments have been so significant and why i can say were in a much better place. Are you ready for the election in. We feel were ready. We have people proactively looking for emerging threats. Good luck. Youve got your work cut out for you. I appreciate it. Thank you for having me. Coming up, millennials in the mid terms.
