Over documents. And help me with this one, what exactly was President Trumps mysterious misspelled midnight tweet . Breaking overnight, a massive bomb in afghanistan with more than 80 people dead and hundreds wounded. Plus, Comedian Kathy Griffin under fire for her gruesome photos of a mock President Trump beheaded. I went way too far. I made a mistake and i was wrong. We begin this morning with President Trump reportedly planning to say goodbye to the paris agreement, the International Landmark deal to fight climate change. I have the best team with me here today to break it down, starting with Nbcs Kristen Welker live at the white house. Kristen, what exactly do we know about the president s decision . Weve heard hes listening to everyone. Hes going to take a week, a month, now hes out of paris . Well, that is the latest reporting. Axios first to report it, we have yet to confirm it. Weve reached out to a number of different white house officials here waiting for that final confirmation. But this was a huge flash point. The white house divided over this. We know that jared and ivanka were opposed to him pulling out, but then you have other folks like steve bannon who wanted him to pull out, who were pushing him to pull out. This goes against what the g7 leaders wanted. Of course he was just at the g7 summit. Six out of the seven leaders saying that they were committed to enforcing the paris climate glae agreement. Lets take a look at the agreement. It requires countries to limit Global Warming to less than 2 degrees celsius. Countries agree to report on progress in lowering emissions. Nearly 200 countries have committed to the agreement, steph. This is a major reversal of an obama air ya paera policy. Its also something President Trump campaigned on. What does the public feel about it . Based on an april poll taken by nbc news wall street journal, 67 of respondents said that immediate action was needed to combat climate change. So this is going to be a real lightning rod throughout the days and in the coming weeks, steph. Obviously were going to have a lot of questions for press Secretary Sean Spicer who is briefing off camera today, steph. I want to bring in my panel. New york times reporter kate kelly and Princeton University professor eddie glaude and josh barrow. Kate, its not just some conservatives like ted cruz who wanted President Trump to pull out but ceos across the board said, President Trump, please stay in this agreement. 200 countries in there. What does it say if he does pull out here . Look, i think its very unfortunate. I think Business Leaders have argued, many of them as you point out, that in terms of being an international leader, in terms of embracing new technology and over time preserving the wellbeing of companies that have to do business and people that have to work in cities that could be overwhelmed by flooding or other natural disasters and, you know, keeping safe the assets that we do have, the physical assets right now, it would be important to stay in. To the casual observer it might be surprising that the current ceo of exxon as well as Rex Tillerson were supporters of staying in the pact. This also ugsuggests to me that the last person to have the president s ear, like steve bannon. Remember that presser on saturday, they didnt want to talk about Jared Kushner, they kept pushing this idea that this was a listening tour to the president. While you might not have liked what he necessarily said in brussels, he met with the nato leaders, he met with the g7 and he was listening and learning. If he was listening and learning, one of those topics was clearly climate. I guess President Trump isnt listening to those guys, hes back in bannontown. It turns out to me that the consideration is his base. This has nothing to do with business. It has nothing to do with the economy. It has everything to do with politics. Because we know that for Business Leaders, as weve laid out, exxon, the ceo of google, weve laid it out, they know this deal is a good deal. And he needs to shore up his Political Capital right now. But those people werent leaving him. I dont think its about that. I think its a display of dominance. All of these european leaders who were so cold to him in europe, wanted him to stay in this deal, this is Barack Obamas deal. He can undo it by doing this. The weird thing about pulling out of the paris accord, one of the criticisms is that it has no real enforcement mechanism. So if you think that the restrictions on u. S. Emissions are too stringent, all you have to do is ignore those rules. You dont actually have to pull out of the agreement. The reason you pull out of the agreement is to try to undermine the global effort on climate change, which was one of Barack Obamas signatures. And to send a statement. I think you are on to something there, to send a statement to his base that hes sticking with campaign promises. I believe that was bannons argument. So hes trying to do the messaging here that will preserve his popularity with that group. This is extraordinary. Kristen welker, i want to change topics for a moment and go back to russia. Of course talking about it every day, that Russian Investigation now including some old and new names. I cant believe Boris Epshteyn is back in my life. What can you tell us . Well, hes among those who has been contacted to release some documents. His attorney saying that theyre waiting for more information. But we also know, and this is a big one, steph, mike flynn, the former National Security advisor, has agreed to turn over documents and papers related to the investigation to the senate intel committee. And that is according to sources close to him. The other headline here, the president s attorney, michael cohen, saying that if he is subpoenaed, he will testify, telling nbc news i have nothing to hide. I will make myself available and i am more than happy and willing to testify, but they have to be specific, steph. So you have this probe that is widening as a special counsel gets under way. As this administration digs in in terms of damage control and as weve been talking about throughout the week, steph, setting up that war room to deal with some of these headlines that continue to roil and overshadow the administration here, makin it veryifferent for the president to move on his domestic agenda, things Like Health Care and tax reform, steph. Whats your take on this . I think the strangest part of it is the president tweeting this morning covfefe . Well, no. Tweeting that democrats dont want carter page to testify because carter page will destroy the collusion narrative the dem rats have been putting out there. We had indications previously from adam schiff, the top democrat on the committee, that they would have him testify at some point. Democrats dont control this investigation. If theyre not calling carter page yet, i wonder whether this is something to do with robert mueller. We have a criminal investigation here. So if bob mueller wants to go first, that might be a reason that congress would wait. I dont think its a good sign for the president if they dont want carter page in yet. Well, theyre just asking questions at this point. Some are drawing the conclusion, well, Boris Epshteyn had been friends with eric trump for years and years. He has russia ties. Michael cohen has been President Trumps lawyer for years and years. Do you think its a negative for the president that theyre now bringing those guys back in . Theyre just questions. I think so. I think its an indication that the investigation is expanding. And i think thats what should be worrisome. As the investigation expands, as they follow money, different sorts of actors will come into view. As that happens, i think the Trump Administration should be concerned. I mean it is interesting, during the days of Boris Epshteyn, even people within Trump Communications team used to complain about him to us. Yet he remained in that seat for quite some time. I want to talk about Jared Kushner for a moment. Jareds lawyer has said he will answer any questions, but i want to share specifically what sean spicer said yesterday, because sean spicer is rarely super careful with his words and he was yesterday, specifically reading a response about jared. Take a look. Im wondering, sean, if you can tell us when the president knew whether the president knew at the time that Jared Kushner was seeking to establish Backchannel Communications at the Russian Embassy to the russian government . And if he didnt know at the time, when did he find out . I think that assumes a lot. I would say that mr. Kushners attorney has said mr. Kushner has volunteered to share with congress what he knows about these meetings. What your question assumes is a lot of facts that are not substantiated by anything but Anonymous Sources that are so far being leaked out. Does he approve of that action . Youre asking if he approves of an action that is not a confirmed action. I mean that was some champion word smithing right there. Now, sean spicer clearly had prepared a prepared response, but one of the things that stands out to me is that they keep pressing. Well, its Anonymous Sources, dont trust Anonymous Sources. And the president himself continues to cite Anonymous Sources when it suits him, a la the birther issue or even yet retweeting a fox friends tweet that said jared did nothing, citing an anonymous source. So what does that response tell you . Well, a couple of things. Theres clearly hypocrisy there, right . Any of us that deal with the Trump Administration know that just like most professional Public Relations folks, their Communications Team might ask to go on background or off the record for information. So might others in the administration. Its common practice in journalism. So theyre complaining about it on the one hand. On the other, you know, engaging in that practice. Im sure there was messaging, as you said. We have seen reporting in recent days that theyre establishing a war room or considering doing so in the white house to kind of frame these Jared Kushner meetings with russian officials in particular, but also the entire narrative in a way that protects them, keeps the focus where they think it should be, which is on the agenda, and kind of makes sure that the same message is getting out and theres some consistency there. I think the absence that we have in the kushner story is a lot of context around these meetings. Why would he want to have a back channel of communications . Is there an appropriate reason for doing so . Whats the rest of the story between donald trump and the russians . Are there details there, financial or otherwise that the public would want to know about that could potentially affect his ability to do the job . These are the questions that weve had since the very first story about the matter, but obviously theyre intensifying now. Lets kind of pan out. Spicer looked beleaguered yesterday. He looked tired. Does he normally look studly to you . No, but im just saying the presser for me, its as if he was just simply performing for this audience of one. That he was trying in some significant way to speak only to donald trump. And so the issues, the complexity of the issue around kushner just couldnt come into view. So he had to read, he had to speak to trump and that was it. Sean spicer may have been speaking to one person, but last night President Trump was speaking to his millions of followers when he sent out a puzzling tweet. I want to share it with you. Despite the constant negative press covfefe. So obviously that was a typo. We dont know what the president was doing. Maybe he was falling asleep. Were laughing about it like its cute, like its funny. This morning, you know, they qualified that. I mean to me the tweet that the president sent out this morning was not one written by President Trump where he said covfefe, we all know what that means, ha ha ha. The president doesnt make jokes like that. But lets talk about how serious this is. The president and his supporters have said time and again twitter is the best vehicle he has to reach the world, to reach millions of people. For a mistake like that to happen, remember, this is just a few days after it was reported maybe a team of lawyers would vet every tweet that he sends out before it goes out. Clearly a team of lawyers didnt vet it. Someone awake didnt even vet it before it came out. How much of a Security Risk is this or, josh, are we just overplaying it . Well, i think this is not the most important story of the day, but i think that the question about the its not the most important story unless his 11yearold son, you know, gets his or his cell phone which is being given out to World Leaders has been hacked. This is the key question. You also see typos go out over the official White House Press list. Theyive wro job titles to people who work in the administration, like wilr ross, the secretary of commerce. What did they say he was. They called him secretary of the treasury or something in one of the releases. But the question here is what Electronic Device is the president using to tweet here . What Electronic Devices are other people who have access to this in the white house using and is there a risk that this could be hacked, because the white house official white house Communication Channels in the normal sense, you at least have the security that you have to be using a government device. And he is giving that phone number out to a lot of people. And one of his tweets from the g7 summit came out with the geo tag. It didnt have precise coordinants of the president but im hoping he doesnt use a phone that has location services. We have to be careful because i can imagine his base, look at those hypocritical liberals. They make mistakes when they tweet too. If we make too much of a big deal of this, its going to allow them to close the ranks even more. Without a doubt. But you know what, we dont know the nuclear codes. Thats true. Weve got to turn to some horrible, horrible bleaking news overseas. Dozens of people are dead and hundreds more wounded after a massive explosion took place in the capital of afghanistan. Richard engle is live in london with the latest. Richard, im relieved to hear that youre in london. Please tell us what happened. So this was a massive bombing. It was a truck, a tanker truck that exploded in the center of kabul. Whats significant about this is the death toll. Were talking 80 people who have been killed, according to afghan officials. Over 300 injured. The numbers have been fluctuating, generally they have been going up. But over the last couple of hours they have stabilized somewhat. The other part is the location. This was in the diplomatic quarter, presumably one of the most secure parts of kabul. And it was right in front of the gate of the german embassy. There was also an afghan cell phone company, the headquarters right next door. There is a nato and u. S. Military headquarters not far away. The u. S. Embassy just a few blocks down the road. The u. S. Embassy was not impacted by this blast. But it is the International Center of kabul where embassies, aid agencies, major corporations are based. There has been no claim of responsibility so far. The suspicion is that this was probably the work of isis. The reason people are drawing that conclusion is that the taliban, which would be another potential suspect in this, very quickly and very vehemently denied that it was responsible. So if that denial is to be believed, then the blame would likely shift to isis. All right, richard engle, thank you for giving us the latest. Were going to take a break. Next, new reporting President Trump is considering replacing chief of staff Reince Priebus. We get a short list of who is on his pick. Nobody does underwater stunts, sylvia. Except me, of course. Sources tell nbc news the president is considering, key word considering, replacing Reince Priebus as chief of staff of the two top contenders for the job are gary cohn and david urban, a former Senior Advisor to the campaign. Joining me now, political consultant, michelle fields. Kate, i want to start with you. Gary cohn and david urban up for this potential job. Gary cohn was president of Goldman Sachs. Hes been very careful since he took this job. He only answers questions and goes on camera to talk about jobs, trade, the economy. He has carefully put himself in a position where he doesnt have to across the board defend the white house or President Trumps actions. From a Risk Management perspective, why would gary want that job . So in other words, hes displayed the very discipline that the Trump Administration and the president seem to crave and are complaining about the lack of by many people in the organization. I think thats part of the reason that hes gotten into the president s favor and has such strong and ongoing access to him. From a Risk Management perspective, i think he took a gamble on day one by joining this administration. Granted weve seen a continuation of the tumult and volatility and the kind of at times paradoxical messaging we saw on the campaign trail, but there were plenty of indicators back in december when he took the nec director job that that might be an ongoing thing in the presidency if not just the campaign. It would be interesting to see this happen. I think that obviously hes accustomed to running the daytoday operations of a huge organization. Hes a guy who can spin many sort of disciplines and topics. What he doesnt have is washington experience. Political sort of consensusgathering experience. That is something that i think could be a problem in a job like that where you have Department Secretaries who are actually reporting to you. Thats the chain of command. And youve got a wide suite of topics and issues coming to your door eve day. You may have to deal with politics and some experience helps. One thing that gary cohn knows how to do is run a tight ship and Goldman Sachs is a zero tolerance environment. We know who is comfortable with not being in a zero tolerance environment, the president and a name i want to bring up to you, michelle, Corey Lewandowski. He may be coming back. I want to remind viewers, you personally sought charges against Corey Lewandowski last year when you said he grabbed you roughly leaving bruises. The palm beach county, florida, state attorney decided not to pursue charges against him for battery. So what is your reaction for the talk of him possibly returning to the Trump Administration, and how does that square off with a moderate guy like gary cohn taking a senior position and then you bring somebody like corey into the mix . Thats oil and water to me. I dont think its surprising. Trump really enjoys his comb combative style and he believes corey is very loyal. Even after he fired corey, corey wouldnt say anything critical of the president. There continues to be leaks coming out of his office and here is someone who has been loyal to him from day one. Trump wants to get back to these big rallies that he had during the campaign where he was able to talk directly to voters, bash the press, have these big events and corey did that, put all of that together. I dont think this is going to bring stability to the white house. We know that he has problems corey has problems with kushner, he has problems with Reince Priebus and i think it signals to a lot of republicans on the hill and the establishment that hes not willing to trump is not willing to make peace with them and certainly not peace with the press if hes bringing someone who is such a combative character. Then, eddie, if reince is not necessarily the problem, if the president himself is, if the president doesnt see an issue with getting back on the trail, getting out there and, you know, doing rallies again, he tweeted just a few moments ago hes going to decide on paris, make America Great again, ignoring the fact that an enormous part of our country believes that we should stay in paris. The president continuing to show he doesnt exactly know how trade works, he doesnt exactly know how currencies work. Why is it that we continue to say reince is the problem . The president has shown no restraint or ability to hand over the reins to his chief of staff. Freud would describe this as a classic case of displacement. That the problem is the problem of the staff as opposed to the head of the staff. Until we understand it, everything follows from the head, no matter what he does downstream, we will still have the chaos. I think this is displacement, whether its lewandowski, whether its cohn, its still going to be a white house that has to in some ways deal with the volatility of trumps personality. I dont think reince is the problem but i think he probably is a problem. People think of him as being the normal insider in this administration compared to weird firgds like steve bannon, but reince is very unqualified for the job of white house chief of staff. Hes never run an organization larger than the Republican National committee. Hes been a political operative. So i think even though gary cohn then who is qualified for the job . Administrat gary cohn is more qualified because he ran Goldman Sachs and he has a few months running the nec and being one of the top policy peep until white house. I dont think getting rid of Reince Priebus would fix most of the problems right now but he is not someone expected to be picked as chief of staff in a normal administration. You could put someone more qualified with more gravitas in that position and slightly mitigate the chaos in the white house. Then it makes sense for the white house to possibly youre saying choose someone like gary. The question i have is does it make sense for someone like gary to take that job. Were going to take a break. President trump weighs in on this controversial picture of Comedian Kathy Griffin that grew scorn from republicans and democrats. She has apologized. And remember this story, the man who married mary kay letourneau, his former sixth grade teacher, after she served a sevenyear sentence for having sex with him as a minor, a 12yearold, is now filing for divorce after 12 years. The couple have two children together. Now we have to turn to new reaction from President Trump this morning to the story of Comedian Kathy Griffin apologizing after a social media backlash for a graphic and disturbing picture of her holding a bloody and decapitated model of a head resembling President Trump. Nbcs Stephanie Gosk joins me with the details. Stephanie, what exactly happened, and whats the president saying . Hey, steph, good morning. Well, i was on twitter at the time that this was posted and i just watched in very, very short order this fast and furious reaction to both the video that was posted and this image of Kathy Griffin holding up this head. The question was, is the president , as we all know, a rabid tweert himself, going to get involved in this conversation. He didnt yesterday but this morning he did. He tweeted Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11yearold son, barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick. For those who know Kathy Griffin and her career, shes kind of made a career out of just exploring the boundaries, lets say, of comedy. But from critics and a lot of people today, this was more than just a joke that bombed. It is being called disgusting, vile, inappropriate, all of the words that you can think of. Boy early afternoon, Kathy Griffin was apologizing. This morning Kathy Griffin is all apologies. I sincerely apologize. I went wayage is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. After facing a ground swell of condemnation over a Controversial Photo shoot showing the 59yearold comedian holding a bloody likeness of Donald Trumps head. Griffin said she was taking the images down. My name is Kathy Griffin. Im shooting with Tyler Shields who is wildly talented. This is fake blood, just so you know. Reporter the behindthescenes video of the photo shoot posted by griffin begins with a warning. I wont give away what were doing, but tyler and i are not afraid to do images that make noise. And then reveals the disturbing images. Griffin joked about the reaction the photo shoot would get from law enforcement. We have to move to mexico today because were going to go to prison. Online the reaction was swift and there were very few laughs. Inappropriate, disgusting, upsetting. Some just calling the stunt dumb. Donald trump jr. Tweeted disgusting but not surprising. This is the left today. Chelsea clinton also writing this is vile and wrong. It is never funny to joke about killing a president. Its our ten anniversary. There were immediate calls for griffin to be fired from the new years eve show she hosts on cnn. Her friend and cohost, anderson cooper, tweeting for the record i am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate. Cnn echoing his reaction saying its, quote, evaluating new years eve. Without specifically mentioning griffin, the secret service tweeted threats made against protectees receive the highest priority of all our investigations. Soon after griffin wrote obviously i dont condone any violence by my fans or others to anyone ever. I am merely mocking the mocker in chief. Followed hours later by the full apology. And i beg for your forgiveness. I went too far. I made a mistake and i was wrong. Stephanie, those apologies are probably not forth coming for a lot of people. Law enforcement yesterday received endless calls from people, both furious and also legitimately concerned about the president. Listen, this is these are scary times were living in. Its never good to joke about this in any way. All right, stephanie, thank you so much. Disturbing story. Former White House Communications staffer, Boris Epshteyn, has been added to the list of trump aides being questioned by the House Intelligence Committee as well as the president s personal lawyer, michael cohen. This comes after big news that trumps soninlaw and white house Senior Advisor reportedly tried to set up a Backchannel Communications line between trumps team and the kremlin. But what is it like to work with and for Jared Kushner . So many of us have never even heard his voice. Well find out from a woman who knows all too well. Elizabeth spier was hired to be the editor in chief for the observer by Jared Kushner. Elizabeth, you know jared as a businessman. Youve said in past interviews, he likes the spotlight. He doesnt shy away from being center stage, yet here he is next to the president and even before this crisis, hes kept a very low profile, though hes had a big role, and even through this investigation we havent heard from him. I think its a mistake to assume that just because hes not going on camera that hes not talking to people. A lot of people will talk to journalists off the record, an historically jared does that. Hes a leaker . He could be. A lot of people in the administration are talking to journalists off the record. Just because you dont see him quoted in a story or dont see him on camera, doesnt mean that hes not there talking to people. Is he someone that plays within the rules or pushes boundaries . One thing weve heard from people in the white house, a knock on jared, is he doesnt know what he doesnt know. He thinks he can do anything. He has always worked for family businesses. Yeah. I think some of that culture comes from his professional life. There are things that you can do in the private sector that you cant do in the public sector. And so sometimes what did he do . There are things like, you know, just the notion that you can just call up anybody and start negotiating. In his recent dealings with russia potentially, i could see where from a standpoint of naivete jared might think it was perfectly okay to ask for a back channel to Vladimir Putin because there wouldnt necessarily be anything stopping him from doing that in the private sector. Did you see him do things like that in the private sector . Was he influencing or running the observer in any way that you found curious . You only stayed there for a year. I was there longer than that, but, no, not in that respect. I thought we said 2011 to 2012. 18 months. Sorry, 18 months. He would come in and, you know, hed owned the paper for five years whenever i came in. And so he had a little bit more experience than when i first met him, which was two weeks after he bought the paper, but still didnt really understand the ins and outs of the media business. He was primarily running kushner co which is a commercial real estate business and the dynamics and economics of it are very different. He wasnt in the observer offices on a daytoday basis. We would communicate daily and meet once a week but he didnt have much incentive to really dig into the observer from the business side and i think he had very little interest in the journalism piece of it. You also know a decent amount about Jared Kushners relationship with his fatherinlaw, President Trump. What can you tell bus thus abou . They have a relatively warm relationship. I sort of understand why. I think jareds father and trump have a lot in common. Trump has always been warm toward jared. And so historically they have a very Good Relationship and they spend quite a bit of time together. And so i think that makes a difference. You also shared on social media that you yourself had a disagreement with jared around President Trumps birtherism claims and i guess how the observer was covering it. Can you tell us about that . Jared and i were going back and forth about how the paper should cover trump. One of the things that jared said to me whenever i refused to tone down the coverage or make it gratuitously positive was if you spent more time with him, you would really like him. I said, well, jared, it doesnt matter because that wouldnt affect the papers coverage. I said i have to be honest with you, there are things that your fatherinlaw has done that i find deeply disturbing. He said like what . I said, well, the birtherism stuff. I thought it was blatantly racist. Jared kind of rolled his eyes and said, oh, elizabeth, he doesnt believe that, hes just saying it because republicans will buy it. And i didnt think that was a more palatable answer. And jared was comfortable with that. He was comfortable with the idea trump doesnt believe in birtherism, hes selling, hes playing to the crowd. He viewed it as a means to an end. There are a lot of people, particularly in the private sector, who really view things like that. I think jared does as a matter of course. I also have to examine the possibility that he was lying to me about that because he thought it would be on some level a more palatable answer. It was a strange conversation. At the time trump was running for president but i considered him a fringe candidate, so i didnt think it was going to be significant. And now, you know, i had no idea this is where we would end up, so fascinating. Fascinating if you put into context the idea that your word is your bond. Elizabeth, thank you so much for sharing your personal and professional experience with the kushner family, i appreciate that. Next, we woke up to a new word this morning, covfefe. President trump tweeted it overnight leading to a number of memes and parodies but it might not be fun and games as the president is facing renewed scrutiny over his use of a private cell phone. That was candidate trump back in november of 2015 having a little bit of fun with the cast of snl. Today the Associated Press reports that President Trump has been handing out his cell phone number in fact to World Leaders and urging them to call him directly, raising serious security concerns, and it comes just as we get that mysterious midnight tweet and the new word, pronounce it as you will, covfefe. Im joined by jeff jarvis, associate professor at the cu ii ny school of journalism. Were joking about the covfefe thing, but how serious is this, given this is how he communicates with the world. He regularly gives his cell phone number out and he could get hacked easily . Thats serious, but i also get upset when i hear journalists on tv suggesting that he should stop tweeting. I think he should keep implicating himself in show his stripes. I mean it. It is a direct connection. It does bypass us but it is telling of his mindset. How do you think World Leaders view this . For example, h. R. Mcmaster and gary Cohen America first doesnt mean america alone. We want whats best for everyone. Theyre trying to put out a message while at the same time the president does things that put him and the United States at risk. Look, i think his point of view with nato and the other countries contributing their peace is a reasonable one and plenty of people think thats a valid message and one that he delivered in a tough way and thats fine. What caught my eye in that editorial is that they said he had reaffirmed our country to nato five of the treaty and one of the most noted absences was that reaffirmation. Now h. R. Mcmaster has been in damage control saying, of course, the president reaffirms it. This country stands behind that. So, maybe thats where hes coming from. Explicitly, it was not said in the speech. Is that why youre so positive on these tweets . You can have an h. R. Mcmaster or gary cohen and apologizing for the president all day long, but when he continues to repeat, make America Great, again and sounds like hes leaning towards stepping out of paris, is that why you like the tweets . The squirrel and theres another tweet and we wrote whole stories of covfefe in New York Times. However, however, when he talks about the real issues and he sees that his own staff disagrees with him, that is telling. That is important. What also matters when it gets to court, i dont mean for any crimes or misdemeanors he may do, but the actions the administration. Kate shaw had an oped saying the president s words should not count in some cases, but should count in other cases. If they show the intent of legislation and they show the intent of his executive actions, then his words matter. He holds press conferences. His spokesmen dont know what the heck hes thinking. His tweets are material. He holds some press conferences. We want to qualify that. Josh, what is your take about the use of the cell phone and the tweet and he has given that phone number out. Also has this thing where he says to World Leaders, hey, if youre in the neighborhood, you should come to the white house. Swing by my house. Two scoops for you. Theyre not literally going to do that. Ultimately those meetings have to go through a planning process. And, so, similarly, i dont know what to make of the call me on my cell phone thing. These other World Leaders have their own concerns about the security of those communications. I assume that they are not actually picking up the phone and just calling him over an unsecure line. Everything leaks out of this white house. Im sure in time whether they are actually communicating in this way over these unsecure lines. But i would think, you know, given the president s concerns about leaks, you would think he would be more concerned about the security of these communications. I wonder if hes talking. He was concerned. Sean spicer had the whole Communication Team with their phones and they are concerned about leaks. Leaks that dont serve the president s message. You know, when i think about the tweets, though, i look at them like smoke bombs. He tweets, boom, were not paying attention. Betsy devos gave a Million Dollar contract and were not paying attention to what doj is doing with Jeff Sessions and civil rights divisions within agencies being rolled back, were not paying attention to deregulation that has nothing to do with small businesses. Were not paying attention to actually what hes doing. When my son was a basketball player, stop paying attention you can get faked out. So, i think we need to stop paying attention to these tweets. Thats a visual making a really important point, though. You wonder if trump plays the media, watch the ball, follow the ball. I dont hes going to pull out of the paris accord. Were spending air time talking about covfefe. Kate is selling New York Times while shes here. I wouldnt assume deep thought in Donald Trumps twitter strategy all the time. I think very often it is him spouting off whatever he feels like spouting off. Covfefe is in a tweet that should have never been started. Im ending with i understand the metaphor but no naval focusing on the white house any time soon. Were going to take a break. Jeff, kate, eddie, josh, thank you. Coming up, much more on breaking news this morning. We have been working our sources throughout the morning and according to two administration officials, the president is leaning towards pulling out of the paris climate agreement. Look, this is not a big surprise. This is something that he campaigned on, but then another source who is familiar with the thinking inside the white house says the fact that this was effectively leaked out, as a final decision, is part of the frustration here behind the scenes at the white house. That the president hasnt, in fact, made that decision. That the comps team doesnt have a messaging strategy and
