Does the administration feel that there needs to be some form of regulation for google or what was the president referring to. Well let you know. Can you explain what youre looking into . What you would like to see happen there. No, were just looking into it. Just looking into it. Leave it at that. What are you looking into . Were just going to do some information and analysis. Is there any evidence that they actually are sensors search results. Were looking into it. So why the threat which is why now . Well, the attack seems to mirror a story in pj media. A conservative blog about what they claim is anticonservative bias. A completely unscientific report that if you google trump nudes, almost everything that comes back is an attack from the left. Then fox business host lieu dogs did a segment and tweeted about it and then theres also a trailer for a movie steve bannon directed. Google and will facebook has the power to undermine democracy without us knowing that democracy has been undermined. So you put all of that together along with the mounting pressure that forced trump to do a rare about face after his bungled response to john mccains passing. Backed into a corner by veterans organizations and white house aides, trump relented relowering the white house flags to half staff and finally releasing a statement placing the late arizona senator. That of course was on the heels of tumultuous past week for the president. A week that included two of trumps former allies being convicted criminals. Another two granted immunity in connection with the Michael Cohen case. So facing all that criticism on a lot of fronts including from allies, the big question were asking today is whats really behind the president targeting google. Joining me now, nbc jeff bennett at the white house. Chief for the Washington Post and political analyst, Senior Writer for politico, jake sherman, look, we knew the president wasnt going to go to arizona if for the funeral. Apparently not going to take part in d. C. Stuff. Hes got that mccain controversy thats going to linger i think until we see him laid to rest, but ideal good and will why now . It seems like hes got good Economic News he could be talking about. Certainly this something the white house officials are trying to talk about in past tense. Pointed to a statement put out yesterday. Trying to move on. We know the Vice President will speak at the simoceremony at th u. S. Capital and a delegation of senior white house officials will go to service was on saturday. Some white house Officials Say theyre relieved the president got to a point they wanted him to be on saturday night, issuing a statement. Issuing the proclamation and moving on to other issues like trade and economy. Only reason were talking about google today is because you mentioned the president fired off tweets accusing the company of anticonservative bias really pointing to no concrete evidence. Saying search is not used to set a political agenda. You can see here how the president is now accusie ining e and not just google, twitter and facebook of trying to silence voices that arent liberal or from the left. Accusing these companies of wide scale conspiracy, chris. Leaving open the question as we saw with larry about whether they would try to do something about it. You wrote earlier in the month about trump being at a precarious moment in his presidency about how he often spends much of his day and week. Now we have a new article suggesting trump is spiraling out of control. Going to read from it. More than ever trump is acting by feeling and instinct. Trump is nuts said one former west wing official. This time really feels different. Deputy chief of staff express concern telling a friend trumps emotional state is very tender. Even Jared Kushner and ivanka are unsettled that he is acting on self destructive impulses as legal peril grows. Is trump acting the way he is whether its ignoring widespread advice about mccain or going after google because hes feeling increasingly backed into a corner. Partially what we see happening with google here is the president is feeling back into a corner. Has a lot of grievances and we know when he has these feelings he tends to act out. This case the grievance is with the media of what he sees is biassed coverage. The reality is he doesnt like the news headlines. Which is that his lawyer pleaded guilty in a courtroom implicating him in a crime last week. He feels backed in a corner and acting out and with google trying to use power as office. Executive power to threaten google. And presumably keeping up on something that the republicans that his base loves to hear, which is maybe a bias. Maybe a bias. Media bias. Whenever he feels in hot water. He feels things are stacked against him. Had he point as finger at the media. Loves it as a foil. Using it at Campaign Rallies that hes been doing increasingly a couple times a week. Feels like its an effective way for him to show solidarity with his base and have a common enemy. In this case its the media. This morning its also google. We dont think, jake, that the president googles himself. We know pretty much he gets most of his information from stories printed out or given to him or from watching cable news. And hes got this new film directed by steve bannon, and maybe that has, we mentioned this before. Some clues as to where trump got his claims about the Search Engine. That i can a listen to another part of the trailer. They can suppress certain types of results based on what they think you should be seeing. Based on what your followers are. Its what facebook and google do on a regular basis. By suppressing stories. Steering us towards other stories rather than the stories were actually seek sglg may. Is maybe part of this that steve bannon still has this. It doesnt seem like bannon is speaking to the president regularly according to both him in some ways and the white house. But also remember that the president speaks to members of congress who have the same conspiracy theories or if you believe that google is actually doing this. The same theories of the case. Kevin mccarthy has been on a summer long terror and twitter and asked twitter to come testify on capitol hill. Hes not alone in thinking the Tech Companies are ganged up against the white house and against conservatives. Its also an easy politically its an easy target. Right. These are west coast based Technology Companies based on the liberal bay area who are, and theyre populated by mostly, if you believe kind of the stereo type, mostly left leaning people. So not a very difficult political issue and political punching bag for the president and white house. There is this conspiracy thread that google fits into. Liberal people who run the organizations. And if we just look at sort of the history that donald trump has at conspiracy theories, birtherism, that vaccine s lead to autism. People were cheering in new jersey as the world trade tower came down. Millions of people voted illegal in 2016. That ted cruzs father might have played a role in ted kennedy association. Is google just more of the same or do you think it also might be a diversion nare tactic trying to change what has been dominating the news the last 48 hours which is the way he treated the memory of john mccain. For republicans who try to push the Conspiracy Theory on google should do research on bias and algorithm. T at the root of this. Thats an important point. I dont want to gloss over it. Google is successful because if you google something and i google something we wont necessarily get the same result. They are successful because they have figured out a way with algorithms to deliver to people what it is theyre looking for. Sure. Chris, social media works the same exact way. About a year or so ago on Lawrence Odonnell show i said as a republican ill thought democrats should take the house in november. I would prefer divided government. I expected to see blistering attacks on social media. I only saw affirmation of what i said because based on my interactions im interacting with others who believe the same thing. Very importantly here, this should have merited a swift reaction from Many Republican who is believe in deregulation and free economy and ability of good to operate in free environment. The last part of the tweet that this will be addressed and he says theyre looking into regulating it. That is a should be to everything republicans have fought for. One of the first things they did was deregulate the internet. Peel back net neutrality. Thats a pipeline issue, not a platform issue. The suggestion this president is going to try to regulate the content that is generated on a private companys Search Engine is truly shocking. The president s a government actor when he makes these criticisms and suggests that he will interject. Hes not a private citizen. It should merit swift reaction from the hill. We have a situation where when you look, again, at the situation the president may be trying to distract from, which is the criticism over the way he handled the john mccain controversy, politico writes in the play book today, trump seems fully confident that his supporters havent cared for mccain since 2008 when they concluded he was middle of the road republicans. In some ways trumps candidacy and presidency are a direct response to candidacies of mccain and mitt romney. So is he right or did trump miscalculate in the way hes handled the senators death. You know, it depends who you ask. If you ask the colleagues up here he completely miscalculated. I think among Trump Supporters theres a sense that trumps presidency, which was he positioned himself as the most conservative of any candidate and in many ways is a reaction to john mccain and mitt romney who a lot saw as middle of the road republican who is could get votes from the broad range spectrum. He feels this is not somebody he cared for. He never made any bones about it. He had been dumping all over john mccain since 1999. Were talking about 20 years of an mouse towards mccain. Not surprising given what we know about the president from his public persona that hes acting like this since mccain has died. I think im all you need to know is on saturday doesnt look like President Trump or Vice President mike pence will be at the National Cathedral for the big ceremony where george bush and barack obama will be speak. Another break in the long standi standing tradition for the way these things are handled. We are talking some about google. In the context of john mccain. And the fact is john mccain story isnt going to go away. Were going to cover the days of funeral and friends and fellow senators will give tribute. People will be in line to pay respects. Is this likely to increase the president s frustration. I mean, for a time least, he may not be the center of the news universe. I think so, chris. If theres anything trump hates its not being in the news and not having control over sort of the narrative of whats on cable tv, which we know he watches throughout much of the day. Its bothered him theres been a lot of coverage about john mccain and remembrances and tributes of his heroism. Thats going to continue to strike a nerve for this president , particularly on saturday at that National Cathedral service where his two predecessors, obama and george w. Bush are going to be eulogizing. And trump is not invited. Not wanted there. Has a great piece about trump not being welcomed to participate in the rituals of the presidency, the traditional rituals which would include attending and speaking on behalf of the country at that funeral, but he will not be there. Not lost on many people that very pointedly john mccain decided the two people who ran for president will be the ones eulogizing him. Thank you to all of you. Much appreciated. Its the last big primary day before the midterms and tonight o tonights results could depend where each candidate stands with donald trump. Ill talk to reporter who shadowed Stormy Daniels for a day. To find out what her life is like after going public with the claim of affair with donald trump, but right after the break, we await senator Lindsey Graham. The long time friend and colleague of the late john mccain. Expected to remember the last line of the senate any min now on the senate floor. Dear greatgreat grandfather, you made moonshine in a backwoods still. Smuggled booze and dodged the law. Even when they brought you in, they could never hold you down. The source of the report is me, his political wingmen, code name little jerk. Youve all got your names and youve earned them like i did, who was lucky enough to walk in his shadow and to witness history up close, to be in the presence of a giant at a time everything around us was so small. What did i learn . That a few dumb jokes told over and over actually become funny and can take you a long way in politics, marco. Im going to give them to you because john liked you. Lindsey, how hot is it in arizona . John, i dont know. It is so hot that the trees chase the dogs. Isnt that funny, john . Whats unique about arizona . I said i dont know, john. I imagine a lot of things. Barry goldwater ran for president lost. I ran for president and lost. Lindsey, its the only place in i learned how to fight a lot. Everything and everybody. I learned how to forgive. And from him, i saw how to heel. On the fighting side, i learned that the captured warrior who was tortured became the statesman who forgave and healed a relationship between his formform former adversary and our nation. I went to the hilton, one of the highlights of my life, with john and now a museum and were the bad guys because they get to write how the museum reads. I remember being in front of his cell and you can see the wheels turning and the memories coming back. And as we walked forward, surrounded by a bunch of handlers, and john mccain was el versus in vietnam. It was the most amazing thing in the world how people adored him in vietnam. I saw a bunch of photos on the wall of the prisoners playing volley ball sitting in the sun with sunglasses on. I said john, moust not have is been that bad after all. And he said with a ripe smile, i dont remember it this way. Which allowed us to get out of vietnam. I remember him embracing a war that nobody wanted to talk about because he understood what it would cost to lose it. Would cost to lose it. I remember him supporting the surge when everybody was so tired in iraq and saw no way of getting forward. I remember the fighter. I remember the 2008 campaign when in 2007, john mccain was fifth in a four person race. Written off as politic include dead. No money. Straight talk express had no wheels. Out of sheer determination after a visit to iraq where the general allowed him to talk in july to 600 people going to reenlist in a war they did not have to continue to fight and about equal number over there fighting for us has expedited service to citizenship. Two empty chairs in the front were boots. And john asked what that was about. Two didnt make it to ceremony, but they were given citizenship that day. I remember about 2,000 soldiers wanted add photo and every one of them got it. I remember being so hot i couldnt breathe, but we stayed anyway. I remember coming back and getting the nomination only to lose. I remember that night very well. He had wanted to be president. He was prepared to be president , but it was not his to have. And i remember above all else, the speech he gave that night. John taught us how to lose. When you go throughout the world, people remember his concession speech as much anything else. There are so many countries where you cant afford to lose because they kill you. And john said that night, president obama, hes now my president. So he healed the nation at a time he was hurt. I learned that serving a cause greater than yourself hurts. Anybody in the military can tell you the risk you take. He couldnt put his jacket on. He couldnt come his hair. Because he got hurt serving is a cause greater than himself. I remember how easy it is to say and how hard it is to do. How hard it is to tell your base, i think your wrong. How hard it is to solve problems that nobody else wants to talk about. I learned that success are the different sides of the same coin. The john told me i had become better from my failures because it teaches us and ive been tempted by my success and without my failures i would have never been successful. So those striving young people. Remember john mccain. He failed a lot, but he never quit. The reason were talking about him as to and the reason im crying is because he was successful in spite of his failures. For family and friends, that report would say a relationship with maverick brought joy and difficulty, both were your constant companion. He was a difficult man. He could be tough, but the joy that you received from being with him, will sustain you for a lifeti lifetime. I am so lucky to have been in his presence. He taught me that principle and compromise are not mutually exclusive and the foundation of a great person as well as great nation. He taught me that immigration as hard as it is to solve, somebodys got to do it. And he said to me with ted kennedy, youre going to learn, lindsey, that the other side has to get something too. I have learned that lesson. To my friends on the other side, as long as im here, im going to remember that you have to get something too. He taught me that when good ignores evil, it may be convenient, but it seldom works. He talked about what would happen in iraq if relewe left. He was right. He talked about what would happen in syria if we didnt get involved. He was right. Why . Because warriors are the best, i believe, at making peace. The warrior understands the difference between a false peace and real peace. To those who accused him of wanting endless wars, you had no idea what you were talking about. He wanted sustainable peace. And understood the consequences of not seeing it through. The solars adored him. To those who have traveled with john, you seldom had two meals in the same country. You met more people than you could remember, but you were struck by one thing we were going to really bad places a lot. And those in the military adored this man. He taught me that boldness and practicality must be practiced in equal measures. He believes in climate change, sheldon, and so do i, but theres a practical streak about john that i think made him very successful because he told me time and time again. You have to let people catch up with you. You have to have a rhythm and a pace. There are 100 people in this body from different walks of life. You may think youre right. And overtime, if you are, it will be proven, but give your colleagues the time and the understanding to catch up with you. He taught me that honor and imperfection are always for competition. I do not cry for a perfect man. I cry for a man who had honor and always was willing to admit to his imperfection. If youre thinking about getting in politics, the one thing i would ask you to look at when it comes to life with john mccain, that its okay to tell people i screwed up. I got this wrong. I want to make it right. Honor is, in my view, doing the right thing at your own expense. And he did that time and time and time again. He taught me that life without passion and love is a sad life. He had a happy life. He had ten lives. He was involved in five aviation accidents. If we sent john a bill for all the planes he crashed, he would never pay it off. He lived life to its fullest. He was often disappointed, but he was never deterred from getting back up and going at it again. You will love with all your falls and i was lucky to have been loved by him. So how would i characterize operation maverick. Wildly successful. It made the world a better place. It gave the nation something to talk about at a time when we cant agree on anything. Not universal acceptance of a life of john mccain, but pretty dam close. The only time msnbc, cnn and fox are saying the same thing. And those that covered him in your business want to tell the story. I havent been approached since his death by cab drivers, waiters, cops, they said sorry for your loss. I dont know if im a mccain, but i feel like a mccain. I dont know if ive earned that honor, but i feel like it. The average man and woman in this country got john mccain. What will it mean for the future. It means generations of politicians coming along who will be influenced bid him. The Mccain Institute is alive and well. Its goal is to get Young Leaders throughout the developing world expose them to democracy, teach them the art of compromise, the rule of law. John will reencourage and enforce the idea that nothing is ine inevitab inevitable. As long as a few people are willing to fight for what they medical leave is right. It going to be a lonely journey for me for a while. Im going to need your help. The void of passing is more than i can do. Dont look to me to replace this man. Look to me to remember what he was all about and try to follow in his footsteps. If you want to help me, join the march. If you want to help the country. Be more like john mccain. I believe theres a little john mccain in all of us. The little john mccain practiced by a lot of people can make this a really good nation. So my friend, you did good. You lived in the shadow and enforced our father and grandfather. You always worried would you disappoint. You did not. To cindy and the children. Thank you for making me part of the clan. To team mccain, you taught me what loyalty is all about. To my colleagues, thank you for your kindness. An emotional Lindsey Graham on the floor of the senate. His dear dear friend john mccain. He said i was lucky enough to walk in his shadow, to be in the presence of a giant at a time when things were so small. Kelly odonnell who has spent so many years covering john mccain and Lindsey Graham on capitol hill joins us now. Your thoughts on what you just heard from Lindsey Graham. A veriariful, but determined it seems to me to continue the legacy of john mccain. In this moment, we dont usually see this sort of authentic emotion play out in political settings. Doesnt happen very often. Takes a person who could generate the loyalty, friendships, at times the controversy to make the feelings you saw displayed by Lindsey Graham so vivid and so important to him and other senate colleagues. This will kind of attribute is the kind of thing the mccain family wants to see Going Forward in terms of inspiration. Can an imperfect yet honorable person as Lindsey Graham described his friend inspire other leaders. Those thinking about politics in their future some day. Those entering the arena now. Those presently Office Holders who might see there was not always a negative price to be paid for someone in public life. If he stood up to his own party or reached across the aisle for compromise. Those prices can be very steep in modern politics in terms of political bases on both ends of the spectrum. His recent past, and, of course, ran and lost. So it was not a guarantee to success, but at the same time, he was able to remain someone trusted by the public and so to encourage other leaders or people who are just involved in their communities as citizens to take some chances is really an outgrowth of what senator graham is talking about. The humor that came stlu. Bad jokes. Bad jokes. Yes, one of my favorite ifs i may senator mccain would always say chairman mow would say its always darkest before its totally black. And instead of its always darkest before the dawn and he would deliver it dead panned. And also say the Approval Ratings for congress right now are so low. Single digits. Its down to paid staff and blood relatives and it would always get a laugh and break up the crowd t. Worse the joke told over time as Lindsey Graham said the more endearing it became. There are traditions and rituals that happen in senate. A senate of a time gone by that sort of reemerged this week. Saw the black drape on the desk and flowers and finding an appropriate tribute, naming a building. Some lasting is ining identific the senate and the Mccain Institute is part of Arizona State University Already working on behalf of john mccains inspiration and ideals to help leaders around the world. Tough day for Lindsey Graham to say goodbye to a friend and surrounded among friends in the senate. One of the reflexive things john mccain would do is almost a verbal tick, my friends, my friends. And the intention of that was that the senate was supposed to be, regardless of party, regardless of time of service, a place of comedy. Comity, but colleagues and mutual respect. He would always address fellow senators even those he was the most at odds with as my friends. That is a bit of a loss right now. That is just one of the ways that john mccain tried to put imprint on it and perhaps senator graham and others who had been inspired or appreciate the service of john mccain will find their own way to do that as well. Obviously there are only a few days after someones life ends where people speak at length and honor in this way and the best of someone. Were still in that window in arizona and will be in washington and annapolis a few more days as well. You reminded me of that one time he was running for president. Sitting outdoors. Brutally cold. Waiting to get on the air. I looked over at him and he looked so cold and i said senator, are you okay, how are you doing. I know how cold it is out here. Dead panned turned to me and said, god, i love arizona. It was just he was priceless. He was priceless in those moments. Thank you for your coverage and knowledge. Lets see if what we heard from his great friend Lindsey Graham will turn out to be as such that, you know, we all have a little bit of john mccain in all of us. See if it has any influence on the way politics is practiced by anyone in washington, d. C. Thank you so much. Well be right back. This is not a bed. Its a revolution in sleep. A study estimates there were nearly 3,000 excess deaths from september through february due to hurricane maria. Far more than the official government death toll which currently stands at 64. So how could puerto rican officials have gotten that number so wrong. We heard from one of the researchers behind the study earlier today. It was a number given out only a week or two after the storm that reflected deaths that were directly caused by the storm and it was way too early and did not look at the total counting for what might have happened over several months. The repooreport found the st impacted the poorest and oldest populations. Researchers said the island must create a more effective crisis and Emergency Communications plan. The mayor of san juan who was outspoken took to twitter in response to new findings. Quote, the number of deaths, 2975 reinforces the pain inflicted on the people of puerto rico and the violation of our human rights. They will not be forgotten. Joining me on the phone, congre congre congressman. You have followed this more closely than most folks. Whats your response to this new report. Wow, i hope the people of United States of america remember that its on us. That we cannot forget that, yes, back in the news cycle tragically because now the reporting nearly 3,000 deaths. I remind the American Public that published, i think last may, was published in the new england journal of meds, very prestigious, professors wit us 4700 deaths. I think we need to remember that we need to take care of our neighbors, our friends. How do we do that congressman. How do we make sure this doesnt happen again. Heres how you make sure it doesnt happen again, you make sure you have a president of the United States that when theres this kind of tragedy doesnt say the reason things arent Getting Better is because the people of puerto rico want us to do everything for them. In other words, called people lazy where thousands were either dead or dying. He then said, wow, youre busting my budget. In other words, youre not worth the money. And the resources to help you. When you have a president of the United States that makes those kind of comments while you know and then gives himself an a. Remember. He says i deserve a ten. How many was it . Just 64. Just 64. 64 deaths is one death too many, but having said that, just 64. It wasnt just 64. He gave himself a ten. We have a president of the United States who when he sees a tragedy says its too much. In omarosas book, its pretty clear. They were punishing the people of puerto rico because he wanted to punish the mayor because she stood up forthright for the people of puerto rico. You know something, you go back to your clips, you will find she was absolutely right in calling the government out. Especially now that we know. The people of the United States of america, i want to say something. 12 trips, i just came back last week. Every time i go there, they say make sure you thank the people of the United States of america. You rebuilt houses. Given us roofs, given us food. Given us attention. Youre so much greater than the government of the people. Tell them keep working. Keep fighting. Lets rebuild her. One thing you cannot say about the people of the United States. That is that they are not generous. They have shown time and time again. They are there. Illinois congressman, thank you so much for giving a call. We appreciate it. The judge in Paul Manaforts second trial set to take place next month in d. C. Ruling today to push back the start of opening arguments by a week. But a new wall street journal report reveals his defense team was negotiating to cut a plea deal of prosecutors before this second trial. Thats according to people familiar with the matter. Those talks happened during Paul Manaforts first trial in virginia, but there was no deal. He was convicted on eight counts of tax and bank fraud. The former assistant attorney for the district of new york and an msnbc analyst. And the former assistant to ag for the new Jersey Division of criminal justices. This just business as usual pushing this back a week or does it signal Something Else . It is fairly common when you come up on trial for a defense lawyer. Usually youre saying, i need more time. Youre dealing with huge amounts of discovery lets talk about that. The case could take 10 to 12 days. Although, they have also said they are not sure they will present the defense. How do you take that after they didnt present the defense in the first trial . He or she needs to be in a familiar position to crossexamine the witnesses. So it is quite common to say we need more time. Prosecutors just want to go. And judges will spin it by saying, ill give it one more week. What do you think about the negotiation about this upcoming trial while the first one was still going on. Was there something about the possibility of a pardon hanging over it . What do you make of that report . It is not surprising in the sense that as a trial, in this case, the second trial goes farther, that pleas will be initiated by either side. It is hard to know how serious the plea negotiations are. Sometimes they can be very close to reaching an agreement and sometimes dont get there. Sometimes it is really just sort of a formality that they are going through. It does seem here, like, you know, manafort, one possibility is that he was, by leaking this, really this had to come through the manafort side of this. By now we know muellers team doesnt leak things, is that manafort is looking to signal to trump who is already outspoken that signal being, see, i didnt turn . Yeah, that signal is them looking for me to do something, whether it be corporatioperatio of plea. It could have been just straight plea negotiations. But a plea by manafort, even if not a cooperations plea, but a plea agreement to plead to charges and gets a benefit in his sentencing but does get information, that would still make it harder for trump to pardon him as opposed to getting convicted by a trial, trump can say, you know, how unfair it was. So it could be, if, in fact, this came from the manafort side, that this is manafort trying to send the signal to trump. They want me to either plead guilty or cooperate, and im at least entertaining that idea. I need some assurance from you. Really quickly, we only have 15 seconds left, but tomorrow, i think, is the deadline where they have to decide whether or not to try Paul Manafort on the ten counts where the jury was deadlocked. What do you think is going to happen . I have to guess they will dismiss those counts. You dont need to try this guy three times. Okay, thank you to both of you. Before this year and everything going on with the muler trial, most americans had no idea who Stormy Daniels was. But now shes a regular presence in National Headlines who has talked to prosecutors in the Michael Cohen criminal investigation. In the new interview now with vogue, daniels, real name stephanie clifford, discussed how her life has changed following the alleged affair with the president. This began circling last spring when daniels decided to take on trump. She became globally known by a single name, stormy, the unlikely embattled symbol of our times. Joining me is amy now. When stormy started this whole thing, she wanted to save her butt. Is it for fame, is it political, is she just taking the ride, whatever that ride is, why is she still here . Yeah, i think that quote stood out for a lot of people, she said she wanted to save her own, but not everybody elses. That was sort of if we are talking about how difficult it has been for her. Shes received, as you read, Death Threats since she spoke out against the president. In a way, her life has changed in a way that it is pretty impossible to put the genie back in the bottle. She talks about the demographic that talks about her strip shows. The white men who used to come are just gone now. And it is hordes of women, immigrants, she has become this symbol of resistance. She didnt necessarily want to become that, but thats what she is now. Going back to her old life would be very difficult if not impossible at this point. In fact, i was struck by the way you put it. You called her a mascot for the resistance. What does she symbolize here . I think, look, she has these bodyguards who she hired. She calls them her dragon. And one of them said to her, people need something to believe in. I see you and think that youre real, youre someone real that they can look and i saw this firsthand when i went to one of her shows. Look, a lot of women just look to her as someone that they can who are very angry with this administration, and they see someone in her who is frankly flawed. And in that aspect, sort of real in a way that other adversaries to trump arent. I talk about what a formidable opponent she is top trump, partly because she cannot be humiliated. She said, i didnt turn on twitter yesterday and get called a whore for the first time. She used to the abuse thrown womens way and it is hard to humiliate her. Shes shameless in that aspect. And so many intriguing didbits in this. I made note of a few, an envelope full of cash, well let people read what is about. Jokingly, you can read in an unflatteringly way about the sex she had with donald trump. And she said she never saw herself as someone to bring down a president. Every time the conversation got too intense or deep, she often resorted to humor. And so, at one point i said, what do you do with this weight that has been placed on your shoulders by millions of americans who see you frankly as a catalyst that could lead to the unwinding of the administration, she said, im just the lesser of two evil. If you have to choose between me and donald trump, at least i have better hair. But theres a deep and psychological and personal toll that has come with her sort of becoming this mascot to the resistance. And she did not necessarily ask to become that. Well, it is a fascinating profile and conversation that you have. Amy, i really appreciate you taking the time. I recommend this article to folks. I want to have a little inside view of what its like, the good, the bad and the ugly, so to speak. Thank you, amy. Thank you for having me. That will wrap things up this hour. Ali velshi is here to pick things up. Have a great rest of your afternoon, chris. Good afternoon. Im ali velshi.
