Alabamas Controversial Senate race. And with less than 24 hours to go, President Trump is all in for republican roy moore. Hi, this is President Trump, and i need alabama to go vote for roy moore. It is so important. On the democratic side, former president barack obama and joe biden have recorded robo calls for doug jones, but will it hurt or help in alabama . We have a team of reporters to break it down. Krista walker is at the white house. And steve is in new york with me. Vaughn, it is the battle of the robo calls but do they actually matter . Reporter well, at this point the Doug Jones Campaign tells us theyre leaning toward putting out those robo calls from the Vice President , joe biden and president obama tonight. Essentially making the last 24 hour period to get voter turn out. Doug jones needs democrat voters to turn out. The dug Jones Campaign has been careful about trying to paint him as a moderate. They also have robo calls with richard shelby. He said yesterday he did not vote for roy moore in this race. Also want to point out to you roy moore is running very much of a republican almost Donald Trumplike campaign. I want to bring out a tweet in the last ten minutes saying Rosie Odonnell donated the maximum distribution to my radical liberal opponent. He released a statement here. He said in the wake of the alleged terror attack this morning, quote, in the United States senate i will fight with President Trump for the increased safety of the American People and will not mince words when it comes to call out terrorism for the threat it is. I am committed to implementing the president s travel ban, putting an end to sanctuary cities and building a wall. If roy moore can convince enough republicans its worth having him in the u. S. Senate despite the allegations in order to push forward the president s agenda on the merits in which he just released the statements, it will be interesting to see if it comes through for him. Someone might want to let roy moore know that bangladesh is not on the travel list. Christen, what a dichotomy. The president is going all in for roy moore while a number of women are speaking up once again. They were on megyn kelly a little bit earlier. Take a listen. When his hand started going up my skirt, im not a small person. I managed to wiggle out and stand up, grab my purse, and i went to the back of the airplane. He kissed me on the lips. And i was shocked. Yeah. I mean, devastated. I didnt it happened so fast. Christen . Hows the white house responding . White house continues to be defiant. Let me read you the latest statement which says these false claims disputed in most cases by eyewitness accounts were addressed at length during last Years Campaign and the American People voiced their judgment by delivering a decisive victory. The timing and absurdity of these false claims speaks volumes and the publicity toward it confirms the political motives behind them. This is something that we hear from this administration that, look, this was discussed during the campaign. The American People have made their choice, have weighed in. It is notable, though, that the u. S. Ambassador to the u. N. , nikki haley seemed to break with the official talking point over the weekend when she said the president s accusers deserve to be heard. So we will ask sayre are Huckabee Sanders about that fact and whether the white houses official position is to disagree with its own u. N. Ambassador. Bottom line these allegations are getting a second life because of the me too campaign and the recent developments in weeks and months. The white house continues to go back to the basic point, though, which is that voters knew about the allegations during the campaign and clearly decided to vote for the president and vote him into office. Christen, steve, i dont know if you saw that vice poll that frank did talking to alabama voters and what they think about moores accusers. It was striking which is a mild way of putting it. Lets listen. Lets be real. It was a different world. 40 years ago in alabama people could get married at 13 and 14 years old. My grandmother at 13 was married at 15 at two children, and a husband and a job. If roy moore was guilty, if he was at the mall hitting on this 14yearold, 40 years ago in alabama, theres a lot of moms and dads that would be thrilled that their 14yearold was getting hit on by a district attorney. What do the numbers look like down there . The numbers look like whatever you want them to look like. Ill give you an example. A couple hours ago if youre a democrat, you were excited to see this. Fox news poll put doug jones ahead by 10 points just a couple hours ago. However a different poll put moore up by nine months. Almost 20 points apart in the polls. Best thing you can do for what its worth. Ar average them together. 2. 5 lead for moore. Moore slightly ahead when you average them together. Theres so much volatility when it comes to who is going to turn out for this thing. Its a december election. Theres nothing else on the ballot. Who is going to turn out and vote. Typically this is what it looks like. Pshlg election last year, typically a landslide for the republican. Theres 13 points in the state that democrats can count on. These are largely black majority counties. Question is black turnout. Thats when we talk about the robo calls. Its not is jones going to do well, its how many voters turn out. Also around this is jefferson county, 40 black, birmingham, the states largest city, same idea. The question is even if you get high black turnout, you need to flip traditionallyleaning republican white voters. Where . Look around huntsville, madison county. Talk about the suburbs. College educated and economically upscale white voters. Look outside birmingham right there well talk about this a lot tomorrow night. I think thats shelby county. Remember that name and then look down to the southern part of the state. Republican mobile and baldwin county, youre looking for a shift. Can the suburban republican voters, is moore the one republican they cant pull the lever for . Thats the question. Steve, do you have a soar throat because youre sick or you were cheering loudly for a Football Game . I thought i was covering it up. Im going to try to save it for tomorrow night. Do me a favor. Sleep well tonight and take cough syrup. Kristen welker and steve, thank you very much. And a group connected to a former 2016 president ial candidate is weighing in on this race. What if she was your little girl and daughter, or sister . What if she was 16 years old or 15 . Or even 14 . Would you let a 32yearold man be alone with her . Date her . Undress her . Stand up republican is out with a 500,000 ad buy against roy moore. The cofounder is evan mcmullin. He ran as an independent in 2 6 2016. Hes also a former chief policy director at the u. S. House of representatives. He joins me now. Interesting that roy moore wasnt tweeting about your ad but instead focussed on rosie odonne odonnells do nation. Why do you think youre going to be able to make a difference down there when you are not an alabamian . Well, the reality is that our membership includes people in alabama. We have a chapter there, and we worked with them on this. We consultanted with them leadi up it to figure out if it was right for us to be involved whether they wanted to do something, and through a series of discussions, we all resolved that something did need to be done, and that we should engage, and so we did with the input and direction of our people there in alabama. Do you think alabama voters should vote for doug jones . I think alabama voters should vote for whoever they like. We havent taken that step to say who they should vote for. We simply are making the point that roy moore is an extremist who is wholly unfit for a range of reasons to serve in the u. S. Senate or in public officer at all. Now, who alabamians vote for aside from him is up to them. There are a range of good options whether it be the write in candidates or jones or others, and thats fine. But roy moore is unacceptable, and suffimply cannot be elected the u. S. Senate. Im not sure if you caught the column over the weekend. I want to road you a portion. It says the gop is rotting because theres no end of what trump will ask of his party. Hes defined of shamelessness so theres no bottom. And theres no end to what the republicans are willing to give him. Young people and people of color, look at the trump moore gop and theyre repulsed maybe forever. He talks about the republicans saying that they are going to call an ethics investigation. They will try to unseat moore. If he does get elected, but david brooke says you cant trust republicans on this, because they keep moving the goal post to suit donald trump. What do you think happens to your party after the era of trump . To be clear, im a registered independent at this point. Im sorry. What do you think happens to republicans . Yeah. Thats okay. But look, as an american, i still hope that the Republican Party can get back on track. I mean, whether youre a republican or democrat or a conservative or liberal, we have a twoparty system for you. Id like to see more competition, but for you its a twoparty system. We would like to see both parties committed to liberty and truth. Right now the Republican Party is down a path that i think is ruinous. It elected donald trump as president. Many people ascribed that to an electoral anomaly. I dont think thats the case at all. But roy moore, his nomination shows its part of a trend. If hes actually elected, then youll have a National Platform that i think will be absolutely destructive for the party that may send it into the tail spin that results in it being politically impotent, and ultima ultimately becoming a minority, a party far small minority over time in the United States that isnt able to compete. So there are all kinds of problems that come from that. We thought it was important to stand up. Everian mcmullin registered independent who gave donald trump a run for his money in november. Evan, thank you very much. Thank you. We are continuing to follow the breaking news out of new york city. An attempted terror attack near times square, a 27yearold man originally from bangladesh is now in custody after police say he detonated an explosive device in a busy underground tunnel. It happened during rush hour this morning. And this video right here reportedly shows the moment of the explosion. The suspect the suspected terrorist and four other people were hurt. Last hour i was able to talk to new york governor andrew cuomo, and he said an attack like this is an authoritys worst nightmare. What do you do about that . Thats the question. And its only going to get worse. Its not going to get better. Thats clear. This is a situation that is there stay. Its something were going to have to grapple with together. Joining me from manhattan is Chris Jansing and here with me is National Security analysts, clint watts. Chris, youve been out there all day. What more do we know about the suspect . Reporter well, his name is akayed ullah. Hes been in the country for about seven years. Came from bangladesh. Living in brooklyn were told with his mother, brother, and brothers wife. Neighbors describe him as religious but also say it was a very friendly neighborhood. And no one we talked to has any indication of any inclination toward isis or any other terror group, but right now that 27yearold is in a local hospital in serious condition. The other four people who were hurt sustained just minor injuries. And believe me, a lot of folks around here breathing a sigh of relief. Akayed ullah walked into the tunnel beneath where i am standing that connects 7th and 8th avenue with a pipe bomb strapped to him using velcro and ties j something that indicates experts say that he intended it to be a suicide bombing, but described the bomb itself as being very amateurish, lowtech. Chaos obviously ensued as smoke filled this area that connects these subway tunnels. Take a listen to what some eyewitnesss had to say. It just went off. It exploded. Everybody around him just hit the ground. You know, you trying to say, okay, its the noise, whatever, its the noise, and then thats when you see the smoke. Thats when everybody just ran to the closest exit. Well, state, local, federal officials flood third down area. I can tell you when i arrived there were literally scores of people, police, military, bombsniffing dogs, ambulances, but now you can see within about four and a half hours all of this was reopened. 8th avenue is reopened. The Port Authority is reopened. All the subways are not stopping there now. The commitment was made in the press conference about 90 minutes after the bombingist that they were going to get this city and this area of the city back up and running quickly, and they did. Now, ive spoken to a lot of people on the streets, tourists, locals. All of them look at this as this is the new way of life. The threat is there and they know its there. A number of them expressed what the mayor said which was thank god he did not achieve his ultimate goal, coming here, one of the busiest trance sit areas. Thank god indeed. Clint, forgive me for being jaded. Weve been covering this and the process after the attacks has become routine. We know what theyre looking for and digging into his background and what not. I interviewed the governor a moment ago, an hour ago, and he was suggesting that Internet Companies since they all know what sites we visit because they track us for advertising also know or should i guess report if somebody visits a site that will teach you how to make a bomb or visits a site that advocates jihadi terror or Something Like that. I asked him if thats what he was saying that they should report to Law Enforcement. He said they just need to look into it. But bring me down that mapath. That sounds like a pretty slippery slope. It is. This is tied up from being in the russian mettling, its social Media Companies should somehow figure out when youre going to do something terrible and prevent it from happening. Its not their mandate to do, and we dont want Media Companies be thought police. This is a very dangerous slope. And these are companies that dont have any training or investigative knowledge into terrorism. Is it just certain websites that might get flagged . Is that a reasonable way of doing it if its the what is the jihadi magazine . Inspire. Theres several different versions of it. I have to say social Media Companies have come a long way about policing that content. I think youtube has done a really good job. Youve seen where foreign members are saying we need a place to host our content because we cant do it on youtube. Theyve done a good job either through flaggers, a community pointing it out or automated detection, but at the same point, theyre not there no police all internet websites. Whats the best course of action . Its always going to be good investigative intelligence to preempt this stuff. What we see here is somebody who is probably not connected or very lightly connected to the islamic state. One of the things youll note is in the investigation the first thing we do, whats the Network Globally and locally. This is a play book we see time and again, and one thing we see with this is this persons device went off prematurely. The governor said it did not go off prematurely, that he detonated it. He did, but it did not go off as intended. We were lucky this didnt do much damage. It also means he probably didnt have a lot of practice. Probably wasnt trained. The foreign fighters coming out of iraq and syria had a lot of training and skill. Their attacks were very effective. Easier for Law Enforcement to be sure he acted alone, which is their position for now. Thank you. Were still waiting to see if we learn anything more from sarah Huckabee Sanders at the White House Press briefing. Well bring it to you live. Well see if she has a comment on the attempted attack in the new york city this morning. Next, we turn to the russia investigation and our exclusive reporting about Robert Muellers new focus. Hes honing in on the first 18 days of President Trumps days in office. With most Airline Credit cards, you only earn double miles when you buy stuff from that airline. Is this where you typically shop . Is this where anyone typically shops . Its time to switch to the capital one venture card. So much for that commercial break. Here is sarah Huckabee Sanders commenting on the new york city attack this morning. These brave First Responders and the others who rushed to the scene are heros. On behalf of the president and a grateful nation, thank you for their bravery. This attack underscores the need for congress to work with the president on immigration reforms that enhance our National Security and public safety. We must protect our borders, ensure that individuals entering our country are not coming to do harm to our people, and we must move to a meritbased system of immigration. Additionally, this attack comes as our Coalition Continues to make great gains against isis. Still there is more work to be done on the ground and the shrinking isiscontrolled areas and the president s plan to annihilate isis is moving forward. We must also destroy the evil ideology that is behind isis in attacks like today. It has no borders but must be eradicated. The president has rallied the world behind the calls and will not stop until its accomplished. With that, ill take your questions. Frances francesca. Thank you. I wanted to ask you about the women who came forward today against the president. They first were on a television show, and then they were at a press conference, and they said that he should resign and then also that there should be a congressional investigation. I know you have said this has already been lit dpated in the last election, but i wanted to get your specific reaction about a congressional investigation. The president has addressed the accusations directly, and denied all of these allegations. And this took place long before he was elected to be president , and the people of this country had a decisive election, supported President Trump, and we feel like these allegations have been answered through that process. Christen. Reporter i want to follow up on the first. The breaking news we just learned about the pentagon apparently will now allow transgender people who enlist in the military beginning january 1st. Your reaction and then any followup action youre going to take . Yeah. As of ligright now theyre in compliance with a court order. Department of justice is ensuring the president s directive will be implemented for any specifics matter, id refer you to the department of defense. Reporter ill pick that up. Shes going to pick it up for you. Nikki haley, im sure you know said when asked did the election she said i know he was elected but women should always feel comfortable coming forward. We should all be willing to listen to them, specifically referring to the accusers of the president. Does the president agree . The president said himself he thinks its a good thing women are coming forward, but he feels strongly a mere allegation shouldnt determine the course, and in this case the president has denied any of these allegations as have eyewitnesss on several reports have shown the eyewitnesss also back up the president s claim in this process. And, again, the American People knew this and voted for the president and we feel like were ready to move forward in that process. The president said its a good thing for women to be able to feel comfortable in coming forward generally speaking. I just want to go off that. The president told howard stern in 2005 he walked into a teen beauty pageant dressing room where he said teen contestants had no clothes on because he could sort of get away with things like that. Is that not an admission of sexual harassment. The president has spoken on the subject. Theres no more comments on the subject. The isis inspired attacks in new york city, and just recently is the president concerned that theres a growing threat against people inspired by isis who have been radicalized online . I think the president is certainly concerned that congress particularly democrats have failed to take action in some places where we feel we could have prevented this. Specifically, the president s policy has called for an end to chain migration and if that had been in place, that would have prevented this individual from coming to the United States. So the president is aggressively going to continue to push forth responsible immigration reform, and ending migration would be a part of that progress. The president reacted angerly to a Washington Post reporters tweet about cab size that was deleted. The k you explain the discrepancy between the president s reaction to incidents like this which he calls fake news and talks about, and his silence on Disinformation Campaigns like russia ran during the 2016 to deliberately spread false information. So both the silence on that and does he recognize the difference between the two . Difference. The president simply is calling out a very direct and false accusation lodged against him. There was nothing more than an individual trying to put their bias into their reporting. And something that frankly has gotten a little bit out of control. Weve seen it time and time again over the last couple of weeks. A number of outlets have had to retract and change and rewrite and make editors notes to a number of different stories. Some of them with major impacts including moving markets. This is a big problem. And we think its something that should be taken seriously. Do you think its reporters mistakes and Disinformation Campaign by a foreign government. I havent spoken with him about that. Certainly we would take any misinformation like that very seriously. But its not something were comparing the two on. I would say, sara, that journalists make honest mistakes and that doesnt make them fake news. Journalists make honest mistakes, they should own up to them. Sometimes and a lot of times you dont. But theres a difference im sorry. Im not finished. Theres a big difference between making honest mistakes and purposefully misleading the American People. Something that happens regularly. You cant say im not done. You cannot say it was completely fake, sara. He cant say its an honest mistake when youre putting out information you know to be false or when youre taking information that hasnt been validated or offered any credibility and has been continually denied by a number of people including people with direct knowledge of an instance. This is something that im speaking about the number of reports that have taken place over the last couple of weeks. Im simply stating there should be a certain level of responsibility in that process. Hold on, jim. This is not the line of questioning i was going down, but can you cite a specific story that you say is intentionally false that was intentionally put out there to mislead the American People . Sure. The abc report by brian ross. I think that was pretty misleading to the American People, and i think that its very telling that that individual had to be suspended because of that reporting. I think that shows the network took it seriously and recognized it was a problem. Jim . Reporter i was going to ask a question about something else. You used it on something else. Jim . Not today. Were going to keep moving. Reporter if i can ask about the accusations. Im moving to a different jim. Im sorry. Reporter i know i need a chance to ask the question i wanted to ask dr. Jim, im going to say once and more all im moving onto jim stinson and im not taking another question from you at this point. Reporter your attacks if thats okay. I would like to ask a question i had about the accusations of misconduct against the president. You said hes denied them. Can you say whether or not theyre false . I im not going to respond. Reporter some are saying the tax reform favors some. Others say it causes problems for mid class, by a few, i mean maybe tens of thousands but maybe more. Will the president sign the tax bill even if there are inadvertent tax increases . Our focus and our priorities are making sure that we provide middle class tax relief. Its bringing businesses back to the u. S. Well continue pushing and working with congress to make sure we get the best tax package possible. Reporter tomorrow theres a special Senate Election in alabama. Back on september 23rd, the president went down to huntsville, alabama, campaigned alongside of strange. And since that time he never went down. In the source of the campaign, the campaign alongside the republican nominee roy moore. Was the president embarrassed in terms of campaigning alongside roy moore . Is that the reason we didnt see him in alabama . The president has spoken directly about this race, and who he supports and who he doesnt due to the legality of that, im not going to go any further when referring to his past statements. Reporter whats the disconnect as relates to the white house when it comes to candidate trump bringing the accusers of bril and roy moore. Whats the disconnect . The president said he found the allegations troubling. And if they were true, he should step aside, and ultimately the people of alabama will make a decision in that race. Reporter what about his own accusers. Look, the president has firsthand knowledge on what he did and didnt do. He has addressed them. I dont have anything further to add. Reporter this is spinning and focussed on him now. And hes addressed it directly to the American People. Reporter more people are now speaking out. Im going to keep moving. Sorry. Reporter this is a huge issue, sara. I know, and there are a lot of big issues today. Im trying to cover as many of them as possible by calling on a number of your colleagues. Ive called on trey. Reporter sara he has. Ive addressed this. The president has addressed it. I dont have anything else to add. Reporter today the suspected terrorist in new york city was described as a bangladesh immigrant. Bangladesh is not on the president s travel ban list. Does todays attack change the way President Trump is evaluating travel restrictions . Look, we do know in the department of Homeland Security confirmed the suspect was admitted to the United States after presenting a passport displaying an f43 family immigrant visa in 2011. We know the president s policy calls for an end to chain migration which is what this individual came to the United States through. And if his policy had been in place, then that attacker would not have been allowed to come in the country. Thats why the president pushed for not one part of immigration policy but a responsible and total immigration reform. And thats why we have to look at all sectors and do what we can to make sure were doing everything within our power to protect the American People. Reporter at the top of your remarks about isis, and the attack today in new york city, you talk about the need to destroy the ideology. What policy changes are required to do that . How do you defeat an ideology thats been attempted since 9 11 with really no Great Success . What are you doing differently . What can you do differently to do that . I think one of the best ways weve moved forward is in a process where were allowing the members of the department of defense to aggressively move forward in defeating isis and in hopes a nigh lating a lot of that evil ideology through that process. Well continue pushing and looking for the best ways possible to make sure that we protect americans. Reporter do you have an update on sanctions . Last week you said it would be coming in a number of days, and secondly, the republic of korea ambassador. Do you have any comment . On the first part, were working through a legal process, and again, hope to have details further on that. Its a little more complicated. Once we get through that, well walk through more details on the reason for the delay. On the other, i dont have any personal announcements or comments on that at this time. Reporter sara, im interested in the comment about the suspect in new york. Does the white house have any proof that the suspect was radicalized outside of the United States . Hes been a lawful permanent resident living here for some time. I cant get any further details. As we have them available, well be happy to let you know. Reporter then why would his chain migration be an issue. There are certain things im allowed to discuss at this point in the process. Thats one of them. Anything further i cant get into at this point. As soon as i can, ill be happy to let you know. Reporter a directive on space, the president is going to announce this afternoon. Will he call on an increase for spending on nasa . Will he reduce nasa funding in other areas such as for Earth Science which includes the study of Climate Change . Im not going to get ahead of the president s announcement later today. Well have further details once the process is completed. Reporter who are the eyewitnesss who dispute these allegations against the president . And can you stand here right now and say without a doubt 100 certainty that the more than dozen women who have accused the president of misconduct are lying . Do you wrestle with this . Im here to speak on behalf of the president. I can say the president responded and said the allegations are false. In terms of the specific, i witnessed accounts. Id be happy to provide them after the briefing is completed. Let me follow up on that question. As a woman standing up there talking to us, i know your job is to relay what the president says. Have you ever been sexually harassed . Im not saying by the president. Im saying ever, and secondly, do you have an empathy for those who come forward . Because its very difficult for women to come forward . I would say i have an empathy for any individual who has been sexually harassed, and that certainly would be the policy of the white house. Im not here to speak about my personal experience on that front, but im here to relay information on behalf of the president. Reporter to follow up on the president last week on jerusalem and the capital of israel. We saw days of protests and violent protests and changes to the Vice President s schedule. Has the president acknowledged that that decision increased tensions in an already volatile region . Were continuing to urge calm and were open and willing and want to continue meeting and discussing a peace deal. Look, violence is always going to be the responsibility of those who carry it out. Not the president or anyone else, and, again, we urge individuals and groups to remain calm, and we want to continue working with our partners, allies, and others in the region to continue moving forward on the peace conversations. Reporter the violence is about meetings being cancelled and diplomatic outcry from governments and the kingdom, the pope, and so why is it beneficial for the u. S. , the interest interest if all those countries allies are condemning the announcement . The president is taking a bold and courageous action on a law that Congress Passed and had failed to implement for the last couple of decades. The president is simply moving forward and taking that action on legislation that congress has supported time and time again. Reporter following up on that, president abbas said he will not be Vice President next week. Does the president have a reaction to that, and doesnt it mean the u. S. Has effectively taken itself out of the Peace Process when one side wont show up to meet with the United States . We certainly hope not. We find it unfortunate that theyre walking away from the opportunity to discuss the future of the region. But the Administration Remains undeterred in its efforts to help achieve peace between israelis and palestinians and our peace team remains hard at work putting together a plan. Well continue pushing forward. One last question. Reporter so the last suspects of terrorism, were not trained in syria or iraq, and thursday the russians stopped their operations and said they had gotten rid of isis in syria. Saturday the iraqi Prime Minister said the fight against isis is won. Why would the u. S. Still need to fight on the ground . Look, as long as theres any member of isis left, we want to continue pushing forward and making sure not only that theyre eradicated but they dont quickly turn around and come back, and well continue to push forward in making sure we do what we can to defeat isis on all fronts. And certainly that we do what we can to protect american lives. Thanks so much, guys. A less than pleased sarah Huckabee Sanders today at the white house podium. Lets be clear about something. Reporters make mistakes. Were human. Sometimes our sources arent as good as they should be. Sometimes we speak too soon. Sometimes we mess up. And when the mistake is serious enough, we are suspended or were fired. The president and this white house had mislead the American Public multiple times from things like crowd size to retweeting misleading videos meant to fuel fear. Hello, britain first. Theres a handy list of 1,628 false clachims the president ha made since taking office. Were waiting for the apology on all of those. Lets bring in our post paj. Kristen welker in the briefing room. Also michael schmidt, and barry wi wise. There were a few things that were notable. Journalists lie because they want to lie about the president. I want to put that aside and move toward the accusers that have come out once again today. This white house, their argument is that at the very least this has already been litigated last november. Reporter thats right. And its worth noting that most of the questions today did center around that point. Pressing sara sanders on the fact that you have the president s accusers coming forward in a very different climate than the one that we saw during the campaign to say once again they feel as though there was Sexual Misconduct on the part of the president before, of course, he was ever in office. You heard sara sanders vigorously defend the president , reiterate the fact that he says all the allegations are false at the very end of the briefing she was asked if she can categorically say each and every one of his accusers is lying. She went back to that talking point saying, look, the president says that these accusations are not true. And then yorveg, yu have nikki who said the president s accusers deserve to be heard. I tried to get a question to her. She wouldnt answer it, but she did answer one of my colleagues. Take a look. Look, be president said he thinks its a good thing women are coming forward. He also feels strongly a mere allegation shouldnt determine the course and in this case the president has denied any of these allegations as have eyewitnesss on several reports have shown those eye witnesses back up the president s claim in this process, and again the American People knew this and voted for the president. We feel like were ready to move forward in the process. Reporter sanders was also pressed on whether President Trump would address the accusations again. No indication from her that that is on the table. But she sort of pivoted from that question very quickly. A couple of other headlines ill point out. She was asked about the terror suspect in new york. She indicated that the person came here through chain migration. She was pressed on whether or not the suspect was radicalized or if the white house had any information pointing to whether the suspect was radicalized before coming to the United States. She said she couldnt get into any of those details. I also asked her about the breaking news which we learned about before the briefing which is that the pentagon can and will, in fact, begin to accept transgender troofs on january 1st despite the president saying they were banned. She said effectively the pentagon was following a court order and that the Justice Department was looking into what if any recourse it might have. I want to stick with the accusers. A senator released a video im sorry, she was on a network saying its time for donald trump to resign amid the accusers. Michael, she follows senator booker, senator sanders, it seems like this idea that trump needs to resign over the allegations now is gaining a bit of a head of steam with democrats. Do you foresee this going farther than just a lot of noise at the moment at least . No. I mean, i dont think so. The republicans have shown time and time again here that theyre going to treat this differently than the democrats did. Although weve seen some republicans on the hill resign because of this, but the Republican Party has shown its incredibly invested in this president and theyve gone to lengths to support roy moore down in alabama, and i find it hard to believe theyll support roy moore and not stand by the president on these things. A lot of accusations came out during the campaign. They werent seen in the light that things are being seen in today, and it remains to be seen whether the fact that the issues being resurrected will be different than it was when it first came out in the campaign. And michael points the point the white house makes. All these things came out before the election. Voters went to the polls and voted for donald trump. White women in particular voted for donald trump. Does the white house have a point to say this was all out there and the American People still made their decision . I think they have a point, but i think its a different political climate. When sarah Huckabee Sanders says its a mere allegation, its not. This is more than a dozen women that have brought forward complaints. Now, i agree. I dont think people should be taken out from office or their jobs based on a mere allegation. What the women are calling for is a congressional investigation into whether or not the claims are true. And i think theres a lesson from that in the me too movement in general. This is one of the most powerful movements that has happened in my lifetime. Maybe the most powerful for women. For it to have staying power and for people not to dismiss it as mere allegations or as women sort of trumping up claims, each claim needs to be i think handled and investigated scrupulously. And i think jill brandt is getting ahead of her skis. Lets have a congressional investigation. Thats smart. The there is a congressional investigation and they find theres credibility to some of the allegations, i mean j there any reason to believe that donald trump would theres no reason to believe that donald trump would accept that and step down. I agree with that. I think its smarter politics and better for this movement to put it out there for the voters saying in 2020 if he runs again, weve found this. Now its up to you. Its not mere allegations. These are proven. Exactly. Thats what they should have done with al franken. They should have let the investigation play out. I think nikki haley is really savvy in first of all separating herself from the heads of this party which are allowing it to become the party of roy moore and donald trump and groping and pedophil pedophilia. Maybe shes running in 2020 against the president. I dont want to give too much credence for this, but we start third down block after sarah Huckabee Sanders with the idea that journalists spread fake news and the white house doesnt. Mike schmidt, one quick correction on my part. It was the Washington Post that did that list, not the new york times. My mistake. Im sorry. But when you hear that sort of thing coming from sarah Huckabee Sanders, i mean, are we missing the forest for the trees . Is this just incredibly dangerous, and incredibly problematic going forward. Decades seeing how this movement, this whole fake News Movement thats been elevated by this president is spreading around the world. The fact that the president has the megaphone that he does has had an impact on the media. And the fact that he comes back to it time and time again his narrative isnt true, but it has had some staying power an an impact. This is an incredibly difficult story to cover. A lot of the television is classified. A lot of it is confusing. No one wants to talk about it on the record. And its very politically charged. So because of that when there are mistakes, they get an enormous amount of attention, and they allow one side or the other to use it. And in this case the president uses it against the media, and its been a good distraction from him. Hes had some news in the past few weeks in regard to the russia investigation that is not very good. But do you think its going to enable him to undercut the investigation in general when Robert Mueller eventually does draw his conclusion either way . Well, you see an effort by republicans in the past week to really go after mueller and to paint him and his prosecuters as political animals. Its like the face news but fake prosecution. And my guess is theyll continue this because theyve had some success with it n and the right has done a good job sort of echoing the president s claims. And i think theyll keep it up. Michael schmidt, kristen welk welker, and barry, thank you. As the investigation expands inside the west wing, so are efforts to discredit him. His russia investigation and the fbi as a whole. The closer special prosecutor Robert Mueller gets to the white house, the more vitreous the attacks by personalities particularly on fox news. The stench coming out of the Justice Department and the fbi is like that of a thirdworld country where money and boys and clubs decide elections. It all started when Cardinal Comey destroyed our fbi with political hacks. Robert muellers partisan extremely biased hyperpartisan attack team naming names tonight and explain exactly who these trumphating investigators are and why this entire witchhunt needs to be shut down and shut down immediately. We know the Mueller Investigation is illegitimate and corrupt and mueller is using the fbi as a political weapon and the fbi has been americas secret police. The criticism of the fbi isnt just coming from onair personalities on fox. Republican senator Lindsey Graham took a swipe at fbi and doj in a weekend tweet its long past time to invest gays clinton email scandal, fusion gps and fbi and doj bias during 2016 campaign. Is it just me or watching an episode from v for vendetta . What do you think . I did like that mother and would like to see it again. Frankly, ive been, one, trying to urge the white house and others for a while now to let mueller work his investigation, get to the bottom of it, get past this. More and more and more were seeing the politicization of this thing. The weaponization of the department of justice, and ive changed my tune. My message to the white house now is to object to every single fiber of this investigation. Hold on. The people on fox, calling it the secret police, likening it to the ss. Storming into the middle of the night. Do you really think these thoses appropriate ways to describe an independent investigation by a special counsel in the United States of america in 2017 . No, i dont rely on talking heads to define what this investigation is about. Lots of people do rely on talking heads and thats the issue here. I get that. Youre asking me and im telling you, no. And people in the United States who watch fox all the time. At the same time the former president of the United States is likening this administration to nazi germany. This is a vitriolic time in our politics and i can tell you one thing i know for a fact. I know a lot of former fbi, cia, dia agents and members of Law Enforcement community, former u. S. Attorneys and assistant u. S. Attorneys. Almost all i know is embarrassed about whats going on right now. Theyre very sad that there are its gotten political. Great for anecdotal evidence but i want to talk about who Robert Mueller is. Appointed by george w. Bush. Hes a republican. Took over the fbi a week after 9 11 and is a registered republican. Again, hes a marine and vietnam war veteran. Mueller worked for the u. S. Attorney for the Northern District of california six years. He went on to boston to work in the u. S. Attorneys office. Hes a guy with unimpeach ant credentials. A man Newt Gingrich praised at the beginning and republicans praising left and right. Heres my question its not about republican or democrat it seems. Seems the closer you get to donald trump, if you are seen maybe going after him or maybe finding out something negative about him, you are immediately an enemy of donald trump, and not to be trusted. Theres no way that you could criticize the president for find fault with him, because if you do, you are an enemy. Well, if you expect the president to invite mueller over for christmas dinner, youre probably mistaken, at the same time listen, katy american citizens to trust the independent counsel . When this started especially when there needs to come to conclusion . Right. When it started i had faith in Robert Mueller and in Law Enforcement and the Intelligence Community. Just like the ones i know in the community, i dont anymore. Look at former lead agent strzok, sending 10,000 text messages. I dont know what he was fired. He was fired, michael. Fired over the summer. I understand, to his lover. He was fired. They found out, he was fired. I get that. After he was fired mueller stonewalled congress trying to keep from congress why he was fired, what he had done. With find out strzok was involved in the investigation hillarys email, likely involved in interviews with general flynn. I mean, and were also finding out weisman and others were doing things like attending Hillary ClintonsVictory Party. You only go to a Victory Party as a member of the Law Enforcement community to get a job. Were all of us trying to be supportive of this investigation so it could be done with, because we know theres no russia collusion, were all im disappointed now. I can tell you im with the white house on this. I think the white house, should challenge every fiber of this investigation. Time is not on my side today. Thank you for joining us. Thanks, katy. And donna brazile, author of hack the ideas story of the breakins and breakdowns that put donald trump in the white house. Its a political witchhunt, cant trust anybody on Robert Muellers team and two who exchanged text messages. Is there a point . Director mueller dealt with those prosecutors. He got rid of them. Look what were seeing now and what weve witnessed almost from the start is an effort to delegitimize this investigation, and also to so discard and to throw it sand in the eyes of those who are paying attention to it. They are personally trying to discredit an honorable public servant. They are trying to destroy morale of a federal agency, the fbi. Theyre throwing all kinds of what i call distractions so that they can avoid listening to the music. Four people four people have been indicted thus far. We know that theres cooperation now with at least two of those individuals. Let mr. Mueller finish this investigation. In fact, let the congress complete its investigation. Last year donna came under attack, katy, under attack from Russian Hackers im cutting you off because we have very little time left. Forgive me. Thats okay. Interviewed by politico and he had second thoughts about he and other intelligence officials endorsing Hillary Clinton and getting political last year during the election, it gave credence to trump and this idea maybe the Intelligence Community was not ob his side. We dont have time for the sound bite. Its on politicos website. Go find it, but, donna, do you think he has a point . The Intelligence Community weighed in last year. So donald trump does have some reason to believe that theyre not for him . Look, these intelligence officials weighed in because they saw in donald trump someone who was unfit to lead the United States of america. I i have nothing but respect for those in the Intelligence Community. They put their lives on the line for our country. They provide great analysis and the best judgment they possibly can, but theyre at war now with the president of the United States who has decided not to take their information, or to cherry pick through it and attack them and i want to say to those officials, continue to do a good job, keep us safe. Protect us, and lets get to the bottom of what happened next year so we can prevent it from happening again in 2018 and beyond. Donna brazile, thank you. Appreciate your time. That wrap things up for me. Kasie hunt picks up things right now. Good morning. I am kasie hunt live from washington following a very busy fastmoving day. The president is actually speaking live at the white house about his new space policy initiative. Lets listen in. For the First Time Since 1972 for longterm exploration and this time we will not only plant our flag and leave our ot
