He was also praising the performance of Justice Barrett in her nomination hearing. Two white men in their 70s running for president , yet, they could not be more different. I think you saw that last night. There was a lot in the trump town hall. At one point about the coronavirus tests, he did say well, just ask the doctors. They know. Well, weve asked the doctors and they wont tell us. And i guess neither will he tell us when he had his last negative test. There was one moment in each that i think crystallized the difference. Joe biden was asked what if you lose . What does it say about the nation . He gave a sort of long and thoughtful answer. He said well, i hope it doesnt say i was a louzy candidate. Maybe it says that. He went onto talk about how he would go back to teaching law and trying to teach American Values as he understands them and the constitution. And then President Trump at the very end, savannah gruthrie askd him, basically what do you say to voters who are doubtful, who youre trying to bring in, who would like you maybe to do Something Different or something, to be better in your next four years, what do you say to them . And President Trumps response was well, i think ive done a great job. Theres no introspection. No sort of admission that he perhaps had done anything wrong, less than perfectly. Even in a pandemic that had cost so Many American lives. I think that moment showed you how different these men are. Voters are making their choices. In one of the most testy and notable exchanges last night, President Trump refused to directly condemn, disavow the qanon conspiracy movement. Take a look at this and well talk on the other side. It is this theory that democrats are a satanic pedophile ring and you are the savior of that. Now, can you just once and for all state that that is completely not true . So disavow qanon in its entirety. I know nothing about qanon. I told you. That doesnt make it fact. What i hear is they are strongly against pedophilia. I agree with that. You dont know that . I dont know that. You okay. One of the more surreal moments last night. And thats how you talk to the people close to the president , they say one of the reasons he doesnt disavow groups is he finds it hard to disown people who praise him and say good things about him. At this point what will it cost President Trump, an exchange like that two or three weeks before the election day . As weve seen in most of the polling happening recently, he has some votes to make up. I kind of understand not disavowing anybody who is willing to vote for him. That being said, hes the president of the United States. And he has been asked about qanon before this point by other members of the press. The first couple interactions where hes asked about it, maybe getting away with saying i dont know anything about that could work. He is the president. We have a massive pandemic where 215,000 americans have died. He does have other things to focus on other than qanon. At this point he should be ready for that question and be able to answer it and say i dont know about a Conspiracy Theory that seems to be spreading wildly and possibly neleading to people dog violent things. That should be something the president should be concerned about. He should have an answer for that, but he does as we pointed out, need every single vote. But i think the question for people as theyre deciding who to vote for is is that answer responsible . Is that answer someone that i want leading the country . And i think he needs to possibly show some concern, because this is something that could lead to violence. Yeah. And eugene, another top issue iS Health Care. Heres what both candidates had to say about that. Youre always protecting people with preexisting conditions, and i cant say that more strongly. Your administration is about to go to the Supreme Court to argue to throw out the rest of obama care. Which includes the protections for preexisting conditions. Your administration is in court right now trying to get rid of that protection. In order to replace it with a much Better Health care at a much lower price. The president s going to go directly after this election, directly to the Supreme Court within a month to try to get obama care wiped out. Now, we should point out we have yet to see the president S Health Care plan such that it exists and the claim earned him a bottomless pinocchio rating from the washington post. Well, how many pinocchios . Infinite. Look, as you know, the trump Health Care Plan which is bigger and better and cheaper and fantastic has been two weeks away for the last four years. Since before the last election its been two weeks away. And we have seen nothing. Weve seen absolutely nothing. It does not have a Health Care Plan. The Republican Party does not have a republic plan to replace obama care. And so now the party says well, were going to protect preexisting conditions, but they just say that with no plan as to how they would do it, and this is an issue that democrats have been hammering home. It works tremendously for the Democratic Party in 2018. And i think its really one of the really weakest spots for the Republican Party, again, this year. There simply is no replacement plan for the Health Care System that theyre trying to get rid of. Yeah.
