Joining President Trumps legal team. No stranger to washington put he does love a good conspiracy theory. One in particular that the president likes too. Others say the president want to pyre someone on his team while another lawyer may be considering leaving. We have a busy tuesday morning. Well start with the breaking news of the shooting in high school in maryland. Thats south of us here in washington. We just heard from the sheriff who says three people including the shooter are hospitalized in Critical Condition. This all happened as you take a look at some images from the scene at great mills high school. Nbcs Garrett Hague is hustling to the scene. I know the information has been coming in over the last 60 minutes or so. Bring us up to speed on what the sheriff had to say in the last couple of minutes. Reporter this shooting take place at 8 00 this morning. We were told by the sheriff three people were injured all in Critical Condition. That includes the shooter, him or herself and a female as we understand it. The identity of that third person isnt clear at the time. A resource officer engaged the shoot shooter quickly wen this happened. Then the situation is contained, they dont think theres any further danger. Theyre if the process, as youre seeing now of evacuating students out of the high school and moving them to a different location to reunite with their parents. Heres what was told our affiliate a few minutes ago. Listen. A single sheeter fired a round at a female victim just at the beginning of the school hours this morning. And the shooter was in engaged by the School Resource officer. There were two people that were shot, not including the shooter, all three have been transported to medical facilities, washington, d. C. , Prince George county and med star st. Marys hospital where theyre all being treated at this time. Reporter halle, the best and latist there from the sheriff, again responding quickly. It does sound like from his description that the School Resource officer at this high school also responded quickly to this situation. We are all trying to fete down there. With the noreaster coming up the east coast. The Road Conditions are bad. There are a lot of conflicting information which is 50 miles south of d. C. Just getting the facts out of there has been a challenge thus par this morning. Garrett do you fknow this area, where is this high school . Can you tell us about the region here south of washington . Reporter its a little more of a rural area, there is a military community in that area. From the d. C. Region, sort of at the far end of our local coverage area. Unfortunately this is the kind of event that would take us down to a place like this. Yeah. Reporter its just on sort of a far edge. A much more rural area. I think were losing you on the audio in just a bit. Well see you live on the scene whether you get there. Thank for that update. I want to bring in malcolm mans whose joining us here. Malcolm, we are still piecing thing together. What were being told the police say the situation is in their words contained. What does that say to you about where the process goes from here . Still a lot of questions. Well, there are a lot of questions. I think as the stores unfolding according to the sheriff. What we have is a student probably coming in to kill a specific individual. When the resource officer engaged that individual it turned out to what we call a fire fight. The shooter himself has been injured, as i understand is in critical by stable condition and the sheriff himself has been shot, thats the School Resource officer who are also in a Critical Condition. And other students who were in the middle of that may have been struck by gun fire. The intervention by the School Resource officer, the sheriff stopped this shooting dead, because you dont know where the shooting will go afterwards and what hes going to do once he get a taste of whatever he was there to do with that firearm. And malcolm, you cant help but think about the typing here, the march for our lives here. We are told from local reports that students at great mills here participated in that walkout last week when it came to School Safety and stricter gun regulations here. The students now, as were seeing from some of these images, look to be on lock down. Their parents have been told to go to a nearby high school. Whats happening in those walls at this moment. Can you predict . Im certain whats going on in the minds of the parents is chaos. They dont foe whether there was a shooting like the one that occurred in florida or whether its just this one individual. Small shootings like this unfortunately happen all the time in the United States. Thats why we have metal detecters at schools. But for the students inside, you know, they have to be feeling fear too. They dont know that its a short gun battle. To them they could be feeling that as theyre processed out by the swat teams and the police forces, theyre going to have the exact same level of terror as the students in florida. Yeah. Its just the number of victims were lower. And the thing we have seen unfortunately in incidents like this, malcolm is kids getting on social media. They all have facebook and instagram and publicly messaging each other like this. Absolutely. The first information we learned about the Stoneman Douglas school came from people tweeting and send Text Messages to their parents. Sending video clips. One person had parents go live. This is how we learn information these daysism some of which is very helpful to Law Enforcement, but to the parents its just going to drive them crazy. Its time for Mark Zuckerberg to come to congress and testify as to what the privacy protections are that facebook has on the books, and how this happened. How did Cambridge Analytica breakthrough this world of social media that we have in our country and grab 50 million americans private information. We need to moe the answers to that from Mark Zuckerberg himself. He should be testifying before congress. So, a letter was sent to zuckerberg over the past 24 hours asking for information about date exposure, other actions by third parties like Cambridge Analytica. Theres a deadline on this, march 29th. If your committee doesnt hear from zuckerberg but then what is the next step . Will you and can you compel to have him testify . Well, back in 2010 when there was an oil spill in the gulf of mexico, we compel it had ceo to come to congress and explain what happened. We need Mark Zuckerberg to come to congress and explain what happened. The company itself, facebook, was put on privacy pro base by the federal trade commission in 2011. This is clearly a violation of all that privacy guarantee that they had given to the federal government. Thats actually what i wanted to ask you about because as you hear anna talk about bloomberg is reporting, ftc looking into facebook right now. When it comes specifically to the Consent Decree here, Facebook Says it didnt deny it. So youre saying definitively facebook did in fact violate that agreement . Thats why we need to have the hearing. Clearly the intent of the Consent Decree in 2011 is that there being pretty much a privacy bill of rights that people have the right to know that theyre information is being gathered. That they have a right to know if its being sent to other institutions and they have the right to say no, that they dont want that information compromised. Clearly, all parts of this privacy guarantee were violated here and the American People have a right to know whether or not facebook in fact put protections in place and what theyre going to do in the future to make sure this never happens again. Throw the as out senator. We havent seen zuckerberg come in front of congress. Many democrats have wanted him to, what are the chances he actually shows up this time on this topic . Well, when the ce opd showed up he had no suspension of showing up either. You cant have the greatest disaster in america and not have the ceo of that company show up. Here, you have the greatest compromise of privacy history in our country. It could have led to in fact the compromise of the length of 2016. We dont know fully yet what Cambridge Analytica did with all this information, that the relationship was with the Trump Campaign or the russians. We have to get to the bottom of it. Steve bannon is part of that company. Michael flynn was consulting for that company. Robert mercer is the principle owner of this company. We need to get to the bottom of this and Mark Zuckerberg has to be the person who sits in front of congress and explains how this happened. Senator, before i let you go and as we look ahead to the committee offering today their recollection protecting infrastructure, i want to fete you to a special tropics related to the president and the investigation and your colleagues that the president is laying the ground work to potentially fire mueller, something his legal team has he nighed. Does congress feed to put in your view presentatiootections mueller . I think as others have already said, theres going to be a bipartisan fire storm which is going to erupt if Robert Mueller is fired by President Trump. The same thing happened wen president nixon fired ar which i bald and nixon back in 1973. History is repeating itself. If in fact this happens, whether we have legislation thats put in place before the president in fact does Something Like this or not, it wont make any difference. This seams to be a sign that the president is ready to throw some punches. After his inhouse lawyer ty cob has been preaching cooperation. That has cob on the chopping block. The west we think isnt the only place in the president s orbit facing another potential shake up with the reports that hes considering firing ty cob. That was something Mitch Mcconnell did not take saying speaker ryan stating mueller should be continue to do his job. He was asked this morning at the News Conference to expand on it a little bit and le essentially said hes going to trust that the white house wont make this move. Take a look. The special counsel should be free to follow through his intention to a completion without interference, absolutely. I am confidence hed be able to do that. Ive received assurances his fires is not under consideration. We have a system based on the rule of law in this country, no one is above that justice system. So, the questions, who did those assurances come from, its not clear what the shake ups in the legal teams, president s own tweet, nobody has a say in this expect forget president himself. Its spirally possible that the speaker and the president speak on the phone regularly. We do not know that. We tried to follow up in this fuse coverage about who he received those assurancings from. You see a new lawyer come in and see conflicting views, seems to be a shift here for whatever reason. Back during the presidency of the guy you worked for, bill clinton. Here what di geneva said, he said the u. S. Could benefit from the president. It will teach the value civic lesson that no one is above the law. What do you make of that . Its a thoughtful comment. Well see how he plays it now. What about ashley and josh, what we heard from paul ryan, theyre trusting the word right now from somebody in the white house, maybe the president or staffer that Robert Muellers job is safe . Its a greet inconvenience for the talking points to avoid these questions. This is a president whose proven himself unreliable negotiating partner and narrater. Regardless of what his lawyers might want and hope and quietly think about at night, the president s going to do what the president wants to do. Its a little stunning that paul ryan would say he has confidence based on the president s tweet that is none of that is going to happen. He does talk to the president frequently. The president often makes assurances and then go back on them. Republicans, its interesting, taking to the paul ryan comment saying dont do this, dont fire mueller. But they wont take it to the level to pass legislation like the democrats want to add protection from the president being able to fire him. But, as you heard for example, senator mark said it doesnt matter if Congress Pass protection or not. If mueller does end up out of a job it hits the fan so hard a constitutional crises is the way it was put. I think, halle the core issue here too is all of this is distracting from President Trumps agenda in trying to move that forward. Thats a real issue thats growing. What does it say that a month ago the legal team was stable, this month theres a lot of changes happening including hiring of di general novo that were talking about . Were seeing changes overall not in just the legal team. It suggests a changes in strategy and attitude. The chaos and the that matt and internal fighting and disagreements that you see plaguing the warehouse has also been plaguing the legal team. There were quiet disagreements for a long time. Now were seeing them break into public and the president want to take a more aggressive approach. He brought on this new attorney and le may bring on others. Were seeing that play out in public but it doesnt mean it hasnt been there for the last couple of months. Matte final thoughts, where does this go from here . Well have to see it play out. I dont think director mueller will be ready to wrap up his investigation any time soon. You got this big pending issue, will the president testify. And from a russia standpoint this is significant. The Police Administration has raced termed like the policies in your states saying by local enforcement enforcing the policy underminds trust and cooperation with these communications a communities and they just dont have the research here. Arent those legitimate concerns . No. The bill doesnt require they ask about it, it just gives them ability to do so. Witnesses and victims of crimes cant be asked about immigration status. Weve addressed that in the bill. The bills come under serious criticism. Applicants of immigrants who say this is simply racist, and a way to discriminate against people of color and imdprants inside the state of texas. Sure. Id love for them to read the bill. Theyd say they have read it. It deals with illegals who commit crimes and Law Enforcement in our state and officials and elected officials cooperate with the government. All were talking about is the criminal element. Why anyone would be concerned about deporting people of crimes is a mystery to me. How do you explain the criticism from those who say focusing on these type of crimes are scare mungering . These are horrible crimes, thooer talking about murder, sexual assault. Thats the job of Law Enforcement to prevent that. If it happens to arrest and deport. I want to bring in the folks sits next to you. The president s crack down on immigration has been an area where the torn has made serious policy changes in a way you havent seen every where inside the administration, ashley. Thats true. The president on the whole is ideological but theres a few key issues that he feels in this dput level hes been talking about for decades. One of them is trade and the other is immigration. So walk me through wausau terrence and what occurred. Other, me and a few of my friends would meet up in the same area in the morning. Down by the or the class its like in the art hallway. We stand there and talk before the bell ring every morning. We were just standing there talking and we heard, like a loud shot and it was probably like a few yards like, away from us. To to my lefthand side. And like, when i heard that, we heard it and we instantly start running the opposite way. And like, i glanced back and i seen a girl like, i didnt know who the girl was, but i seen a blonde ponytail fall forward. And we started running towards the closest exit we saw. Did you leave the building . Yes. And where did you go and the other students go . I understand it was put on lock down right if. Yes. As soon as we heard it we started running. We saw a teacher across from us as we were going down the hallway to make a left turn to get outside the doors. We saw a teacher looking at us like with a confused look. I guess another shot went off and he was hurrying to get other students in his class and we just took off out the door and reran to like the mane road turning into the school. As we looked back at the school there were students running out the main sprans so we know something was serious. Yeah. Everything is adding up now, i dont know if there were two shooters or just one but i just know i heard one shot to the lefthand side of me before we ran out the building. Where are you now, what have you heard from the school . Im home now and im watching the news and im hearing like about three students or something are getting like checked out, i guess in Critical Condition. I dont know who yet. But i just know, they said the shooters in Critical Condition too. I think he shot himself. My friend that was with me, he told me he saw the kid actually shoot himself. Businesses to try to invest there as saudi arabia tries to diversify the copy away from oil and gas. Hes going to meet with folks from facebook and google. People from new york, this big ipo, offering for a ram koe, the state oil company competing for stock markets. And also in houston talking to some folks. Police will be talking about the explosion at a fedex facility near schertz. It may be related to the socalled serial bombings. Gabe gutierrez who is in austin f for us, we had the Texas Attorney general on and he said we cant say definitively that these are related but we think these explosions may be. That jives with what youre hearing from police on the ground. Yes. Some very disturbing details coming out and you mentioned that bombing at the fedex facility overnight. Initial calls suggest that that explosion involved a package with nails in it and that it was bound for austin. Again, authorities have not officially confirmed that just yet, but thats something investigators will be looking at. Im standing here at the scene of the fourth explosion that happened late sunday night here at this neighborhood that is completely on edge. The bomb blew up just a short distance from me here. There were two men in their 20s, one on bike and one on foot. A trip wire was apparently used. Youll recall that is different from the three packages that were left on doorsteps quietly in the middle of the night. If it does turnout that this latest explosion overnight at this fedex facility does turnout to be linked to the others, this suggests as experts will tell you that the bomber, the serial bomber as authorities are calling this person, that hes changing tactics at this point. So certainly a lot of questions right now and there is concern, a fedex facility here in austin separate from the explosion overnight, that one is being evacuated right now as a precaution as authorities investigate a suspicious package there. Quickly before i let you go, what happens next and what is the message from police, from Law Enforcement to folks in and around austin who might be totally freaked out by all of this . Police have been tell people for several days now not to open any suspicious package, to be very careful of any suspicious packages that are left on their doorsteps. But after this fourth explosion that potentially involved this trick wire, they are telling everybody to be on high alert and call 911 if they notice anything thats suspicious.
