Garrett haake is joining me on set and also with us is a familiar face and a friend of this show, john rosten. Editor of the nevada independent. Talk about the president and talk about everything that happened over the past couple days. Garrett, i want to start with you. Here is how people should not be describing what happened. Not surprising and not unexpected and not as bad for him as the conventional wisdom seems to suggest. Now he wants to have a discussion later today in reno where he talks about unity. Can he hit those notes . Last night was 2015 2016 donald trump living with us in 2017. Not surprising. Can he hit the notes of unity . Absolutely. His team is capable of writing it. The situation that were in right now is will people watching at home credibly believe the president who has been in this habit of essentially trying to recast elements of history to fit the narrative hes trying to describe. This was him talking about his remarks on charlottesville last night, for example. Take a listen. Heres what i said really fast. Heres what i said on saturday. Were closely following the terrible events unfolding in charlottesville, virginia. This is me speaking. We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence. So, hallie, thats part of what he said last saturday, a week ago saturday on charlottesville. He let go the most crucial parts of that. The single most important clause on his remarks. Thats how hes been recasting. What well see tonight or this afternoon, rather. Monday nights trump. The afghanistan speech trump. Much more on message. Talking about veteran issues and talking about things that will play to the specific audience in the room and less of what we saw on tuesday. I want to bring in before we go over to you, john. Political reporter for Washington Post and political analyst robert costa. Hey, bob. Hey, you heard garrett talking about the monday night donald trump. We also had the tuesday night donald trump. Today we will see the wednesday afternoon donald trump. Can he be all of these Donald Trumps in 2017 simultaneously . He seems to pinball from persona to persona, hallie. What we saw in arizona was really an echo of what we saw at that new york press conference, the combative side of President Trump incendiary with his rhetoric talking through the charlottesville response. I think what youre going to see in reno is a continuation of what we saw in phoenix. This is a president who is really furious at the news media. We saw that, bob. Hes very clearly angry at the news media. That is not new. He ran partly on anger at the media. So, why should people be surprised by this . You read things today and people say, that was interesting from President Trump. I was at Campaign Rally, after Campaign Rally and that is exactly what we saw. Im, for one, not surprised. Im surprised that people are surprised. The president s campaign was this nationalist campaign at the issues. Speaking to voters who felt aggrieved on a variety of different fronts whether it was the economy, the culture or for a variety of Different Things. This is a continuation of that. Bob, i want to get your take, as well as john ralstons on this piece that is out in New York Times talking about tensions between President Trump and Mitch Mcconnell. President trump talked a little bit about the Senate Leader last night in his desires for what he hopes to see. Heres what he had to say in phoenix. Listen. We have to get rid of the filibuster rule right now. We need 60 votes and we have 52 republicans. That means that eight democrats are controlling all of this legislation. We have over 200 bills. And we have to speak to mitch and we have to speak to everybody. Well, he says he has to speak to mitch. According to New York Times they havent spoken. You know harry reid well, if they had that relationship when democrats were in the minority, how would that have played out . They had some riffs, as you know. What you remember about donald trump during the campaign which you know i alone can fix it. Now, suddenly, he cant fix health care. Who is to blame . Mitch mcconnell and i think hallie jackson, the media, right. Thats all he can do. He doesnt like to lose. Hes all about winning. Were going to win so much. Youre never going to see so much winning. He is lost on health care now a couple of times. Bob, can you flip the conventional wisdom on its head a little bit. Discussion this feud with Mitch Mcconnell, if it is this kind of feud. A spokesperson for Mitch Mcconnell tells nbc news, hey, they want to Work Together on these agenda items. The potential bad blood between these two will hold up what the president wants to get done in the fall. Is it possible here in nevada and texas and people in maine where we were this week arent going to see this as a president ial problem but instead a congressional problem, a swamp problem . If the president continues to separate himself from the republican party, politically, in spirit in terms of what hes saying at these rallies. You can see some of the republican base, especially if its spurred on by breitbart and steve bannon who is there. You can see the president try to take advantage of these divisions. And, bob, theres a tweet the president said this morning going after somebody he did not name specifically last night. Garrett and john. He said jeff flake. The phoenix crowd was a packed house, loves the great state of arizona after tweeting about this. Im not a fan of jeff flake. Weak on crime and border. Garrett . What is fascinating to me about his attacks on jeff flake. Jeff flake is a reliable vote for the president s agenda. He voted for the reform bill and he has the same issues in the same state as john mccain. This is entirely a personal feud. This is a president who doesnt like what jeff flake says about him personally and has made it a personal attack. I was with that crowd in phoenix yesterday, by the way. Trump supporters have taken this line and run with it. They have entirely digested the idea that jeff flake is not their guy. I asked one person, does this primary bother you . If jeff flake loses the seat or the republican challenger loses the seat and this person said to me, look, hes just as bad as a democrat now. The president s vitriol against his own party is turning his base against him. That is something were going to bring up later in the show with danny. But, bob, to you, somebody he didnt mention was john mccain and somebody he did mention was joe arpaio the controversial sheriff. This is a president who has friends where you wouldnt expect it and enemies where you wouldnt expect it. Youre exactly right, hallie. And a challenge for the republicans moving forward this fall is they may not like the president privately, publicly some of them may be breaking from the president but at the end of the day both sides want a marginal tax cut and may be able to have a clean debt ceiling extension and to have some kind of tax cut arrive on the president s desk and just try to hold together in a fragile way. Almost like two inlaws who dont like each other but all just try to go on vacation and make it work. Theyll never like each other but they have shared priorities. This is some vacation, bob acosta. We know the president is going after the people that he has problems with. Whether thats people in the senate and whether thats people in the media, for example. But also going after a familiar foe. Hillary clinton. You heard that and those chants last night in phoenix. Now, were hearing from Hillary Clinton with this msnbc exclusive. A first look at an excerpt from her new book called what happened about the 2016 election. Morning joe on this network got some audio as clinton talks about that second debate in st. Louis. You remember the one being there. This town hallstyle format where you saw donald trump kind of shadowing her on stage. Well, what would you do . Do you stay calm, keep smiling and carry on as if he werent repeatedly invading your space . Or do you turn, look him in the eye and say loudly and clearly, back up you creep. Get away from me. I know you love to intimidate women but you cant intimidate me, so back up. Joining our conversation now is Andrea Mitchell who, of course, covered Hillary Clintons campaign for this network and a host of Andrea Mitchell reports here on msnbc. Andrea, your reaction. Well, first of all, remember the context, hallie. They had the women, paula jones and all the other accusers who had been on Facebook Live just before that debate. And then they were brought out into the audience. In fact, the debate was delayed because the people from the Trump Campaign wanted theme be seated right in front of Hillary Clinton in the family section. The president ial Debate Commission refused. So, they finally were brought out and put in the front row of the bleachers on the side so that they wouldnt be directly in her line of sight. But this had been two days after the access hollywood tapes were revealed. A lot of drama behind all this. And she is more revealing in this excerpt than we have heard or seen Hillary Clinton before in her two previous books, of course. She seems to be really reflecting on what she could have done. And reaching out metphorically, i guess, to women around the world. Women in america who might have also had similar experiences with men looming in america. If you look back and look at the visuals, he was circling her. And she told people afterwards that she really thought about this a lot. What if she had stopped and said, get away from me. Youre in my space. The way she handled rick lazio back in 2000, the First Political opponent. The republican running against her for the senate in new york state. That was a debate in buffalo. We were there. Moderated by our own colleague, late tim russert. It was a key moment. Lazio walked up and waved a piece of paper in her face saying sign this pledge not to take Political Action Committee Money or something and she just stood there and that really turned the tides against him and doomed his campaign. So, its a whole gender thing. You get it. Most of our viewers get it. And this was a moment. And she controlled herself. And now she regrets that. Andrea mitchell reporting for us there from washington. Andrea, thank you for being on this program. Appreciate it. Same to you, bob costa, friend of this show and Garrett Haake in reno where you will be reporting on the president s speech later today. We have been talking about the president s challenges here home. But plenty of others overseas. Check this out. These are pictures from north korea showing what might be new weapons. He is the only incumbent republican senator up for reelection in 2018 in a state that Hillary Clinton won last year. So, in other words, yes, hes vulnerable. Joining me now is somebody who is planning to challenge him for that seat. Democratic congresswoman and candidate for u. S. Senate jackie rosen. We should note that senator heller declined our invite to come on. Congresswoman, you did not. Thank you for being here. I want to start with news that relates to your position. North korean state media released new photos of kim yongun touring a plant. You know that secretary of state said hes pleased to see that north korea has demonstrated restraint in recent weeks. And that theyre moving towards dialogue. Can you tell me what your view is on these developments as it relates to pyongyang. Is this good news . I think some of it is good news. What im most concerned about is that donald trump needs to get off the campaign trail and go back to washington and take a look at whats going on in north korea. They are an imminent threat to us. With these new possible, chemical projectiles, they can move faster and further and they cant be detected as easily as some of the other kinds of missiles. This could be an imminent threat to people across the globe. We need to address it. He needs to come off the campaign trail and figure out what were going to do in this arena. Do you believe he has not been tough enough on north korea . Hes issued some pretty strong challenges and strong words towards kim jongun, as you know. He has issued strong challenges. We need diplomacy and we need a plan. He needs to come together with his cabinet, with the joint chiefs of staff and figure out what are the right diplomatic ways to go through to protect people, not just across the globe, but here in america, as well. Thats what i want him to do. I want him to get out of the country club and continue to govern. Thats what hes been elected to do. Thats what we need in this instance. Some serious, serious consideration of the challenges that were facing. Let me bring it back to whats happening at home and here in nevada, congresswoman. You are challenging dean heller for the 2018 seat there. Did harry reid ask you to run . A lot of people have talked about running and i can tell you the honest truth. No one can talk you into it and you want to do it. What was important for the state of nevada, the hardworking families here, how they need a voice, a common sense person who is going to listen to what they worry about at the Kitchen Table and find smart solutions, thats why i decided to run. Honestly, my daughter who is 21 looked at me and said, mom, im so proud of you. You can do this. You can stand up and you can fight for our future. And that is the core reason im doing it. Because i look at my daughter and i look at her friends and i look at all my friends and what they worry about at the Kitchen Table needs to be heard. It needs to be understood and thats how we need to legislate with common sense smartluti solutions. You mention a lot of people want to talk to you about it. Was harry reid one of those people . Harry reid was one of those people, yes. Okay. Theres some already criticism about the fact that youve only served less than one term now in the house. Now youre already setting your sights on the senate. Are you qualified enough for that position . Well, ill tell you what makes me qualified. I lived a full life. Im a woman in technology. I was a Computer Programmer system analyst starting in the 70s when there werent very many women in technology. There still arent. I raised a family. My daughter went to Public School here, she is in college. I took care of my parents and inlaws as they aged. What i know about Social Security and the va and medicare and a pension and the aging process, assisted living and rehab hospitals. I dont need anybody to tell me the challenges that our seniors go through and what those kind of protections mean. I was a Community Leader when i volunteered right here in nevada in my own community. Being president of the largest synagogue in nevada, working on Public Private partnerships for things like solar panels to make our campus green. Partner with things like organizations like three square, nevadans for the common good. That Life Experience is what qualifies me to listen to people whose concerns are at the Kitchen Table. Thats what people want. Thats what makes me qualified. I lived a full life and im ready to fight for the this seat and fight for hardworking nevadan families. You might not get the chance to go up against senator heller because it is possible your colleague will issue this primary challenge to you, essentially. Shes more wellknown than you are. A recent poll. She ran a tight race against senator heller. Do you expect her to go up against you in the primary . Well, what im going to do is what ive always done and always done in life. I am going takeo keep my head d and focus whats important to me and focus on whats important for nevada. Im going to continue to go around and listen all through the state and sit at Kitchen Table and Kitchen Table and round table after round table and all of our businesses large and small and find out what the anxieties are and meet people where they are and tell them theyre going to have an advocate in washington. The Senate Republican campaign arm is not going to let this go down without a fight. Calling you Nancy Pelosis puppet. Im curious about your reaction to that and another issue that is likely to come up in this campaign. Single payer an interesting idea. Is support for single payer part of your platform . I like to support a public option. I think thats the best way to go at first. I believe as a systems analyst and Computer Programmer that we should look at the Affordable Care act the way it is. Keep those ten essential benefits, health benefits, whats working and find the top reasons of why our premiums are going higher and higher and how we can help people at the Kitchen Table. So, public option is part of one of those plans. And the idea that you are Nancy Pelosis puppet, congresswoman. Are you . I think that anybody who knows me, knows that im a woman who speaks her mind. Who has the conviction to listen to people, to go forward and look at things in a holistic way. Thats how i was a systems analyst and how i continue to govern and a lot of friends on both sides of the aisle. We have been able to put forth legislation in that sense. Im going to continue to do what is right for my district while im here in congress and what is right for nevada when i win this senate seat. Congressman jackie rosen, thank you very much. Nice to be here in the state of nevada. Really appreciate you joining us here. Next up, were talking about this big move from the navy. Doling out some serious discipline, removing the seventh fleet commander after a series of deadly collisions at sea. Crews still looking for missing sailors off the last crash off the coast of singapore. Bringing you the latest on that as we sit here live in nevada. Youre checking out our great view here in reno as we ask voters, what do you want to see from the president . My advice for the president would be stop using twitter. The navy now making some changes in its ranks after that deadly crash involving one of its destroyers this week. Hans nichols has been covering this story. He is live at the pentagon. This is real discipline now. Can you tell us what is going on and put it into context. How unusual is this move that the navy is making . Its fairly unusual to relieve a three star of his command so shortly after a mishap. The investigation is still going on. But what the fleet commander, the overall Pacific Fleet said they lost confidence in that individual in the admiral. It opposes accountability and poses more discipline on those sailors those warfare officers who are standing watch on the bridge because they still dont know these four mishaps whether or not they were related. They just know they had catastrophic accidents at sea that shouldnt happen with highly maneuverable navy destroyers. One other note in terms of the search and rescue mission. What theyre doing is widening concentric circles and expanding the search as they continue to look for everyone that has not been accounted for. Nbc hans nichols live at the pentagon. Thank you. We are here in reno, nevada. Where President Trump is heading our way. Hes about to Board Air Force one after that raucous rally overnight in phoenix. And hes heading to reno where hell talk to veterans at the american legions annual convention. Just before the president got there, we asked some folks in nevada what issues matter the most to them. Watch. I want to see more Economic Growth in a positive fashion where we get better paying highend jobs. People want good jobs. People want to good health care. People want highquality of life. We get distracted with other things. It comes down to mostly economics and quality of life. Im a teacher. I just want the education to always be utmost. Continue to work, work through millennial scholarship. So, jobs, jobs, jobs. To talk about them, here with us is somebody who has a pretty good job. John ralston editor of nevada independent back here with me. John, lets talk about this issue of unemployment and more specifically underemployment. That is something that when you hear from these folks, its what theyre alluding to. People working parttime because they cannot find fulltime work. Let me hit you with these statistics. Nevada had the highest percentage of underemployed people in 2015 and now so far this year, it is third highest. What accounts for that here and how does that play into how elected officials are making their cases . Its a great question, hallie. We had one of the highest unemployment rates during the recession. 15 . It dropped to about a third of that. The underemployment is a problem here. People working, but not working enough. Wages are just starting to catch up from the recession. But, remember, nevadas economy almost solely based on gaming with construction component for a while. Were the Fastest Growing state in the country and all the building, especially down south. Now, all the action is up here in reno. Things have changed a lot. Still a problem. You have this huge tesla giga factory they called it that has dramatically affected the economy here in reno. Housing prices are skyrocketing. You have this dynamic young mayor, hillary who has gotten some National Attention for some of the things that she has done here in reno. But there still is that problem trying to drag up the bottom to, sure, diversify the economy, get these tech jobs here as the mayor and governor have talked about. But theres the underbelly of that economy here that is still a problem. Pull back and talk to me about the state that you know very, very well is playing into the national conversation. We talked about last segment dean heller is the most vulnerable republican in the senate. There are some really interesting dynamics playing out here. Walk us through how you see this going. You mentioned danny earlier. I think hes going to be on. Dean heller has problems on both the left and the right. Which is a very difficult thing to accomplish. But hes managed to do it. Mostly through his performance on the Health Care Bill where he took all kind of different positions. He said Different Things and different interviews. So, hes got the right angry at him. Danny tarkanian got into the race shortly after the last health care debate. Remember, heller voted the way the president wanted him to finally. Ultimately. Only after. After going through this and this and this. He had stood here in nevada where Brian Sandoval the governor saying were not going to vote and were not going to support the current bill. Heller is in big trouble. His numbers here, his approval numbers are terrible. Well see him later on today here in reno. He is right now as we are sitting here, he is speaking to a group here in las vegas called hispanics and politics and then hes going to get on a plane y believe, fly up here and speak to the american legion. At the same event President Trump is speaking at. Well see what kind of interaction they are having. Their last interaction is a little awkward. The democrats are using that picture of him smiling and laughing and donald trump saying, hey, he still wants to remain a u. S. Senator. Very quickly before i let you go, harry reid is not in washington any more. He still has kind of a heavy hand it seems in nevada politics which we talked about plays out nationally. What do you know . The only hand harry reid knows is heavy. He sits down and sitting in an office in the bellagio and works for mgm resorts. That is his theoretical day job. You have jackie rosen to admit. He recruited her. He is still trying to recruit candidates for office. His people still run the Democratic Party here. We want to keep this conversation going after the break because you mentioned the mayor of reno here. You mentioned whats happening in this city. One reason were so excited to be here is because of that. The sort of economic discussion as reno is in the middle of this tech boom and the startps moving into town are kind of transforming this place. How did the city make this happen . And what can other cities learn from it . When i got into office, unemployment was at 13 . And now were down to 3. 9 . We really had to look at ourselves and say how are we going to reinvent ourselves . Liberty mutual stood with me when this guy got a flat tire in the middle of the night. Hold on dad. Liberty did what . Yeah, Liberty Mutual 24hour roadside assistance helped him to fix his flat so he could get home safely. My dad says our insurance doesnt have that. Id like to see him get tax reform done before the end of the year. What would you like to see him get done before the end of the year . Tax reform. Joining me on set nbc news correspondent jacob rascon and mark amaday. Jik jacob, i want to go to you. Traveling around reno one of the states hit hardest by the recession but they made a strong recovery. For decades, really, they were the other casino mecca and even before the recession hit, they were struggling and struggling hard. All it took, really, was one big company taking a big chance. When Chloe Griffin graduated from Purdue University in may, the last place she thought shed end up was reno, nevada. I didnt imagine myself coming here. Im so glad i did. Reporter the Amazon Fulfillment Center opened and she joined as a floor manager. It is hard to imagine what it was like during the recession. Reporter reno was a struggling casino town even before the recession hit and then the local economy really collapsed. Casinos filed for bankruptcy and 40 of homes went into foreclosure. Unemployment spiked. Reno had hit rock bottom and as the new mayor likes to say the only way to go was up. When i got into office unemployment was at 13 and now down to 3. 9 . We really had to look at our selves and say how are we going to reinvent ourselves . Reporter almost overnight they did starting with tesla which agreed to build its 5 billion lithium ion facility in the area. Google paid 29 million for 1,200 acres nearby. Reno even since i have gotten here, it has grown so much. The Biggest Little city in the world living up to its nickname and proving recession can lead to innovation. And, of course, with such explosive growth so fast, affordable housing. But, hallie, everyone we talked to is just thrilled. Other ways people can do this. You cant have one industry. You cant just be dependent on casinos. Has to be more broad than that. Theyre not just tech. Theyre a lot of things. And it doesnt hurt to be close to california. One of the questions i have for you, when you look at whats happening here in reno, what are the lessons that can be applied to other states and other cities that are still struggling to come back . The competition is getting tough from other areas, too. We have a lot of stuff to sell proximity to california, four hours from San Francisco and four hours from the desert. So, there you go. But, you know, its really a question of whats the tax climate, whats the regulatory climate, whats the permitting climate. So, youve got a bunch of folks here in western nevada that are cando folks. Before we got to jacobs piece on reno, we heard from voters here in nevada which talks about tax reform. I know from my time covering the president and an issue that penetrated for voters. You were on the appropriations committee, how likely is it were likely going to see tax reform by the end of 2017, honestly . I can speak from my perspective in the house. Weve committed to doing it. We have to get it done before the years over. What does that mean . Youve asked me, so ill tell you, yeah. There are things to work out. Paul ryan dropped his border tax program. We dropped that before we left for august. So, its like, hey, i expect that kevin brady and the ways and means folks will be moving full speed ahead when we get back the day after labor day. Will it get through the senate as it needs to . Thats a great question. And im just glad i work on the south side of the dome. Are you dissatisfied with what youre seeing from your colleagues in the other chamber . Its a discouraging thing when politics totally overtakes an issue. That happens on both sides right now. I think its an emd if you fo on trying to be in the political sweet spot that i dont think exists, then, guess what, you have to get back to the issue and its the same with tax reform. It sounds like youre alluding to senator heller there when you talk about being in the political sweet spot. Are you . Im alluding to my most of my colleagues. Trying to be all things to all people. If theres a sweet spot, please share with it the nation. They should continue to push because we need that. Ill ask you the same question that senator collins answered on monday and frankly didnt answer. Will you resupport the president s nomnation in 2020 . So far. Why qualify it . Because there are still three years to come. You think something is going to happen . I wouldnt ask somebody is to support me before the end of my term. You earn your spots. I think hes done a good job of earning it so far, but he still has the rest of his Employment Period to go. Congressman, thank you very much for joining us here and talking to us about all Things National and local. I appreciate it. Jacob, thank you. Well see you back tomorrow, i believe, when you talk to us about texas. So, thank you. Coming up next, we know that President Trump is on his way here to reno taking air force one from phoenix. Another place hes not really on the best terms with the states senators. One of them a republican we have been talking about who is now facing a primary challenge. Were talking to that challenger next. Plus, what advice you have for folks on the hill. Heres what some of the people in nevada had to say. My advice for congress is get along across the aisles and stop, oh, sorry, stop hating on each other. Engage in the discussion and make something happen. Look, he wants to remain a senator, doesnt he . Okay. And i think the people of your state, which i know very well, i think theyre going to appreciate what you hopefully will do. We are back on our outside the beltway tour here in reno. You remember that from back in washington, that awkward moment between President Trump and nevada senator dean heller at the white house last month. The president leveling that, lets call it a thinly veiled threat against heller. One of the most vulnerable Senate Republican in the 2018. Voted for that socalled skinny repeal bill which also was defeated. His votes on health care reform, one of the big reasons he is facing a primary challenge from our next guest. Joining me now from las vegas, son of the legendary uv basketball coach jerry tarkanian. I want to start with this. A spokesperson for saying youv conservative times and you have run for office five times before. And i hate to point out youve lost all five times. Why is this going to be any different for you . Look, ive had very tough races and very difficult races and i lost one by 1 . And im right there on the verge of overcoming very tough difficult losses and well get it done this election. If dean heller campaign was not worried about me running against him then dean heller wouldnt be embracing President Trump and being his bff after he spent four months ridiculing and condemning President Trump. They are obviously very worried im going to beat him and now embracing the president. Lets talk about embracing President Trump. Youve got this in the local paper, the ad out welcoming the president and bottom of the fold, smacking dean heller for helping Hillary Clinton by attacking President Trump. Will that get you over the goal line . I dont campaign on doing whats the right strategy. I campaign on whats doing right and right for our country. Whats right for our country is embracing President Trumps America First policies are you going to do for an endorsement for him . I fully embrace those policies and didnt smack dean heller around, i used the quotes he used and put it in the ad. Its his words, not mine. He told usa today that he says hell continue to beat this drum. He did exactly what he said he was going to do on health care in the sense he wanted to protect Medicaid Expansion and get rid of mandates that he disagreed with. Your reaction . Heller is completely out of touch whats wrong with obamacare. The problem is what its doing to the hard working middle class americans that have seen premiums like my family premiums have gone up 300 . Our deductibles up 500 . My son had a stroke two years ago and sees several specialists three times a year. We have to pay 150 just to walk through the door to see a specialist when it used tore 25. The problem with obamacare skyrocketing cost and burden it placed on middle class americans. Its not what dean heller is saying. We talk about the president being here, you have said things recently that made a lot of headlines, specifically the idea that the president is correct essentially, that both sides are to blame and said many sides are to blame for the charlottesville violence. This puts you on a little bit of an island. There have been very few republicans to support the president in the initial response to charlottesville. I know you have doubled down on that position. Do you really think very fine people, some of them marched with neonazis and White Supremacists in charlottes have well. Its disappointing they would jump on the its not doubling down, its saying truth. Donald trump said respectfully, im going to point you back to the question though. Who could disagree with that did very fine people march flame throwing trying to burn riot rioters, come on now. Let me redirect you to the question about very fine people he believes marched with neonazis in charlottesville. Do you believe that . Thats the second quote you said. I have no idea who marched in charlottesville, i assume the president marched better than do you know everybody who marched in charlottesville let me can i please finish sure, vabsolutely. I was going to answer but go ahead. The president was saying there were some people not part of the kkk White Supremacists and others just marching because they didnt want to see a statue of robert e. Lee taken down. A lot of people in the south revere robert e. Lee and may have been good people that were not part of the white prem sift group also marching. Do you know otherwise . Let me ask this if youre marching for the statue issue and somebody pulls out the kkk symbols and pulls out a neonazi flag, do you keep marching . No, of course not. But how do you know where the people are at and what the whole march group was there . It was a large group. What about the other side that was having the bats and urine and feces and flame thrower and things they did . The problem is it was a horrendous activity from both sides and both sides were to blame and thats what the president said. Because i stood up for the president , ive had people try to say im a racist, which shows how ridiculous this is. There hasnt been very many families in nevada that have done more for the minorities than my mother and father and myself to the basketball academy. You stand up for principles and say whats right and they attack with these type of labels. This has got to change. Danny tarkanian, well talk to you again im sure. Coming up next, final thoughts. So thats the idea. What do you think . Hate to play devils advocate but. I kind of feel like its a game changer. I wouldnt go that far. Are you there . Hes probably on mute. Yeah. Gary wont like it. Why . Because hes gary. phone ringing what . Keep going yeah. laughs voice on phone its not millennial enough. There are a lot of ways to say no. Thank you so much. Thank you so were doing it. Were in this state, dean heller and Danny Tarkanian trying to fall all over themselves to be closer to donald trump at maybe the lowest point of his presidency. Think of how weird that is. Well be back, im sure at some point before the 2018 elections. Thanks very much for being on the set. You bet. Todays big picture comes to us from south africa. Worth texas, hopping a plane and two hours out of here. Well see you from the Lone Star State right here on msnbc. That does it for us, ill turn you over to Stephanie Ruhle, ali velshiless. Indeed. Good morning, im back, Stephanie Ruhle with you. My friend ali is not here. Its wednesday, august 23rd. Lets get this thing started. They dont want to report that i spoke out forcefully against hatred, bigotry and violence and strongly condemned the neonazi, White Supremacists and kkk. I got the white supremacist, kkk, we have kkk, i got them all. They are having a hard time. What do they say . Right. It should have been sooner. Hes a racist. Its time to expose the crooked
