Know, especially in those key battleground states that could very well decide this election. Today both campaigns zeroing in on the state of arizona. It comes at an increasingly urgent moment for our country in this pandemic. According to the nbc news medical unit, there is not one state in the nation where the number of covid19 cases is dropping. Lets get right to our reporters on the ground. Nbcs Vaughn Hillyard is in maricopa county, arizona, ahead of President Trumps visit today. Ali vitali is following the Biden Campaign from wilmington, delaware. Our guy Steve Kornacki at his trusty big board standing by. Vaughn, lets start with you on the ground in arizona. President trump making a number of Campaign Stops there today as he contends with the reality of more Coronavirus Infections nationwide. What are we expecting to see and hear from the president today . Exactly, craig. Six days out. This is not the backdrop the president wanted to be running on. Early 2020 he was running on the mantra of promises made, promises kept. The reality in the final week of this campaign is that the backdrop of this very reality is starkly different than the one his white house and his campaigns to lead the American People to believe is reality. His White House Office of Science Technology policy yesterday put out a press release naming in the first term of this Administration One of their accomplishments being they ended the pandemic. Of course, thats far from being the case this week. Again, daily records of new covid cases across the country. When you look in arizona, where he has two Campaign Stops today. More than 5,800 air zoarizonans passed away. Defying his own cdc guidelines, essentially bringing thousands of people together. In the last 48 hours the campaign is expected to hold at least 11 rallies across the country. Here today in arizona, hes trying to make up what is currently a deficit in polling. Hes down by three Percentage Points in the state which could clinch a joe biden victory. Hes heading up here to maricopa county, but also interestingly going to mojave county. This is a place that he won by 52 Percentage Points back in 2016. I was talking with a Top RepublicanCampaign Official here in arizona who said the president is looking to try to extract a few thousand more supporters up in that deep red area that didnt vote in 2016. I spent the day there yesterday and talked to a few of those very voters. The question is, can those few thousand extra Trump Supporters up in the likes of mojave county, rural arizona, make up for the deficits that right now these polling indicates he continues to face in the greater suburbs of maricopa county. Ali, senator Kamala Harris also in arizona today. Whats the messaging that the Biden Campaign team has in mind as they keep an eye on President Trump being in the state as well . Reporter location is the message, craig. Where these candidates are going tells the story of how the campaign views their prospects in all of these states across the map. Kamala harris spending time in arizona today, not exactly the place you would expect to find your Vice President ial nominee on the democratic side six days out from election day. Shes going to be in arizona today. Then shes hopping to another state thats pretty unexpected, texas. Both of those are states that fit the democratic mold of places they hoped to flip for some years now. They finally think that 2020 could be the year to do that. In terms of messaging, were going to see joe biden here today, not in a battleground state. Hes here in wilmington, delaware, but talking about the battle ahead on the coronavirus. This is a message hes been taking from state to state with him. As he gets back out on the campaign trail starting tomorrow, hes going to be visiting states like wisconsin and michigan that are seeing surges of this virus once again. You contrast the message that joe biden has been having out on the campaign trail about heading into a potentially dark winter and the need to finally control this virus with the messaging out of the white house, vaughn mentioned it, Trumps White House is listing ending the coronavirus among their accomplishments in the first term when it couldnt be less true in the reality on the ground. That messaging has been the same. I was talking to a biden aid recently who joked with me. Were not going to see messaging changes in these closing days. This has been the message from the begin of the general, but, craig, even if you go back further than that, if youre a voter who watched a little bit of the democratic primary in 2019 and early 2020, you heard joe biden talking about the battle for the soul of the nation, the need for coherent leadership. You could have tuned out all these months and tuned back in now, thats still the message joe biden is hammering home with six days left to go until the election. Mr. Kornacki, lets go back to arizona. President trump there today. Senator harris there today as well. Arizona clearly in play. Whats it look like there and from a polling standpoint and what about some of these other key battleground states as well that could decide this whole thing . You mentioned biden leading by a few points. Lets put this all in the context for a race for 270. What you see here right now, all the gray states. These are Battle Ground states that donald trump carried in 2016. Right now what you see in this scenario, biden has every state in this scenario that clinton carried in 2016. Remember that was worth 232. Then youve got a bunch of vulnerabilities that trump is trying to defend and shore up. To put arizona in context, lets look at it this way, michigan has been the state of all these trumpwon battleground states. Its been the state where trump polled the worst headtohead against joe biden. If trump were to lose michigan, and you look next door in wisconsin, theres new polling out in wisconsin that shows, in fact, a doubledigit lead in that one poll from abc out in wisconsin today. Wisconsin has also looked a bit shaky from a polling standpoint. If he lost those two, if the polls are right in those states, take a look what arizona would do. If biden were to get arizona as a 269, theres also, by the way, this Congressional District in nebraska, omaha this seems like an obscure point, but this is one where the Biden Campaign is feeling good, where the president was last night. That combination would get biden to 270. Thats without touching any of these other states. At that point trump would still he would have to sweep everything here. That would put him in a position where hed have to start fliching blue states. Have to find a clinton state or two he can flip. His campaign will talk about nevada. We can see about that one. It would put him in a dire position not to be carrying arizona, just by losing two of his other states that he carried in 2016. Joe biden, if he wins michigan and he wins arizona and he wins wisconsin, pennsylvania and florida may not even factor into this thing. This is a combination i think well be talking about a lot as Election Night approaches. Michigan, wisconsin, arizona, this is from bidens standpoint. Again, it seems obscure, but that Congressional District in omaha, the second Congressional District of nebraska, they give out their votes by a Congressional District. Trump carried it by three points. The polling youve seen from there has not looked good at all for donald trump. That combination, if theres no other change from 2016, if theres no Clinton States flipping to trump, that combination gets biden to 270, and again without touching florida, without touching pennsylvania. You heard it here first. Steve kornacki, omaha may soon be know for steaks, the College World series and deciding a president ial election. Steve, thank you. Vaughn, thank you. Ali, thank you. Right now just about every poll finds that the coronavirus is top of mind for voters in the final days of this race. Here are the latest facts on this wednesday morning. Another 73,000 cases were added on tuesday. That means in just the last week alone, we have seen nearly half a million new infections. In fact, wisconsins chief medical officer is now calling the outbreak there a nightmare scenario. More than 5,200 new infections were reported on tuesday, a new record in wisconsin. This morning, the nations testing chief, Admiral Brett Giroir warns that things may even get worse. Hes also pushing back on President Trumps assertion, the repeated assertion that cases are up because of increased testing. This is what the admiral said a short time ago on today. We do believe and the data show that the cases are going up. Its not just a function of testing. Yes, were getting more cases identified, but the cases are actually going up. And we know that, too, because hospitalizations are going up. Nbcs Gabe Gutierrez is in el paso, texas. El paso is a city seeing the surge in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations as well. Gabe, whats the situation there like right now . Craig, picking up on that point, el paso seeing about a 300 surge in hospitalization in recent days. University medical center, where were at right now, were overlooking these tents that have been constructed right outside the hospital. Craig, this is something they put up several days ago, nearly 200 or so Covid Patients right now. In each tent they have a capacity for 12 or 15. The county judge is calling this a crisis situation in el paso. Some of the more serious patients are being airlifted to other cities throughout texas. Traveling nurses are coming here to el paso to help with staffing issues as well. We also spoke with a doctor who runs a local clinic here that deals with lower Income Patients and migrants as well. He says hes seeing about 200 patients a day. About half of them are testing positive for covid19. Take a listen to what he had to say about some of the patients hes seeing right now. Theres a lot of fear amongst my patients. I had a woman today, 76 years old, having an asthma attack. She was worried about being infected with covid. You could hear the fear. Right now were seeing so many positives. Everybody knows someone who is sick, in the hospital, who died. Theres a lot of fear. That to me is the most dire part is that fear. Reporter craig, theres a lot of concern about what happens in the coming weeks. This is one of the places in the country where hospitals are full right now. Theyre at their breaking point right now. Thats why local authorities have imposed a curfew here overnight to try and stop the spread. As weve heard from the county judge, its a very a lot of concern especially as we head into the winter and into flu season as well, craig. Gabe gutierrez in el paso. Keep us posted. I want to dr. To dr. Patrick godby. Given what we just heard from gabe there, giving the surging infection rates were seeing all over this country right now, if more regions start taking these strict mitigation measures like curfews, like shutting down bars and restaurants doing indoor dining, what would that mean in terms of getting things back down again . I think it would help a great deal. I think the reason for the increase in cases is multifactori multifactorial. It certainly includes burnout on social distancing. I think people people are tired of wearing masks, not seeing therrell families and they really need to soldier on. There is no substitute for social distancing, wearing masks, simply washing your hands. Pandemic fatigue. It sounds like youre describing pandemic fatigue. Absolutely. I want to ask you about this news that washington state, oregon, nevada, all signing on to californias independent review of federally approved coronavirus vaccines. How unusual is it to have states independently review a vaccine . It is unusual. The public needs to be comfortable with the safety of the vaccine. I think they can be. And any measures that would increase their comfort are good unless they impede the delivery of the vaccine. Dr. Godbey, really quickly. We heard from admiral giroir there. He indicated he was fairly optimistic wed get a vaccine, if not later this month, certainly next month or december. Are you as optimistic as well . Well, dr. Fauci believes that to be the case. I am optimistic about that. But one thing im not optimistic about is the able to test using the Gold Standard which is poll limb race Chain Reaction testing, pcr. We still cant get enough reagents, we cannot get enough consumables to do the number of tests that we need to do on a local level. The best place to do that is at a local level because you can turn over the test much faster and get the results in the hands of the Clinical Team so that decisions can be made faster. That benefits the patient. But because we dont control the supply chain in our laboratories, were doing the best that we can do. Dr. Patrick godbey, thank you, thank you for your insight. Do appreciate you. South carolinas oldest newspaper just endorsed him. The paper of record in the palmetto state. Rapper common hit the trail with him. Jaime harrison seems to have wind in his sails. Will that wind be enough to help flip senator Lindsey Grahams seat blue. Were also watching the titans of tech testify virtually on capitol hill. This is a live picture of the hearing going on right now. Lawmakers grilling them once again on disinformation and more. The men and woman of the United States postal service. We are here to deliver your cards, packages and prescriptions. And also deliver the peace of mind knowing that whats important to youlike your ballotis on its way. Every day, all across america, we deliver for you. And we always will. We started by making the cloud easier to manage. But we didnt stop there. We made a cloud flexible enough to adapt to any size business. No matter what it does, or how it changes. And we kept going. So you only pay for what you use. Because at dell technologies, we stop. At nothing. Your happy place. Because at dell technologies, we stop. At nothing. Find your breaking point. Then break it. Every emergenc gives you a potent blend of nutrients so you can emerge your best with emergenc. So far a Record Number of people in South Carolina are voting, more than 977,000 people have already, as of close of business tuesday, cast their ballot. For perspective, thats almost onefifth of the states entire population. A federal judge just ruled that South Carolina absentee or mailin ballots cannot be rejected for signature discrepancy. The ruling also requires any previously rejected ballots, for that issue, be reprocessed. I want to bring in South Carolina democratic jamie harris, running to unseat republican senator Lindsey Graham in whats become one of the most closely watched races of this election. We should note here we have invited senator graham to join us for our program as well on a number of occasions. The senator has politely declined so far. Mr. Harrison, good to have you back so far. Thanks for your time. Thanks for having me. One of your mentors, congressman jim clyburn just told my colleague Stephanie Ruhle that you have a chance to win this thing but its an outside chance. It all depends on turnout. Do you share that assessment . Its turnout, turnout, turnout. Its getting people to the polls. This is a marginoferror race right now, craig, all contingent on turnout. I feel good about where we are. I think the energy is on our side. You look at my rallies and you compare them to Lindsey Grahams rallies. Grahams rallies, youve probably got enough folks to fill a phone booth. The one we had with common, we had over 1,000 people, 350 cars there. People are excited. Theyre excited because hope is coming back to South Carolina. Were excited because we think were going to bring in and usher in a whole new south here in South Carolina. Previously canceled debate between you and the senator has been rescheduled for friday night, i believe. Whats going to be the closing message on friday . Well, my message is clear. Its the one from the very start. At the end of the day this is not about democrats versus republicans or progressives verses conservatives. Its about right versus wrong. Senator graham is somebody who i used to respect and i think the folks in South Carolina used to respect. Hes changed. Hes not the same person. Im going to go to washington, d. C. , roll up my sleeves and fight for the people of South Carolina. Senator graham over the past few years has been fighting against the people of South Carolina. Thats the big difference. So if folks want to usher in that change, go to jamieharrison. Com. Sign up to volunteer this weekend. You always manage to work in the website. Senator graham, as you know, has been bashing your recordbreaking fundraising. At the same time hes asking for donations to fight back. Your Campaign Just got an assist at a get out the vote concert. You just mentioned car mon. Charlemagne tha god there spend time talking with voters in columbia. What are you going to be spending all this money that youve raised on in the last six days . How are you spending this cash . Craig, weve been spending it, man. We havent been holding on to it. Getting out there to get our message out to the people in South Carolina. Its so funny that i guess our work is going so well that people are coming up with crazy memes, if you see jamie marry son in the mirror three times, i pop up. Thats because were all over South Carolina giving our message of hope. Its important to do so. Were on radio, television. We have folks dropping literature. Were doing everything that we possibly can to let folks know theres an alternative in this race and we can bring hope and change back to South Carolina. Have the demographics in our state changed in a markedly different way over the last few years that give you reason for home . Have the demographics shifted in South Carolina . They have, craig. And we also have seen the largest registration of people of color in the state ever. We now have over a Million People of color registered to vote here in South Carolina and those folks are turning out, looking at the turnout numbers so far. Weve also seen the reverse migration, where africanamericans whose great grandparents went to the industrial midwest and northeast, and theyre now coming back home. A lot of retirees from the northeast also coming, bringing much more moderate politics. So theyre going to places like greenville and charleston. So its impacting politics here in South Carolina and its moving us out of that old south into the new south. Really quickly here, if the polls are to be believed, you are in striking distance. One of the things that the polls also continue to show is that President Trump remains pretty popular in South Carolina. How could bit that the president s popularity has not waned a great deal there, but senator Lindsey Grahams has . The president is down from his numbers when he won in 2016. He was at 55 . Hes right about 50 now. But this is the thing. At the end of the day, folks are voting for a senator. Lipid see has been there for 25 years. They know his record. Its not a good one. Thats why he doesnt talk about it. Theyre looking for an alternative right now. Were providing that contrast and that alternative. At the end of the day, Lindsey Graham is about to come home for good. Jaime harrison, weave leave it there. We have invited senator graham to join this program. We hope at some point hell take us up on our offer. Thank you. Right now the heads of facebook, twitter and google are all testifying before the senate. Theres senator ted cruz right there. Is a live look at that virtual hearing thats happening. What the lawmakers are saying to these tech titans about their efforts to stop misinformation and hate speeft. First, democratic governor of pennsylvania tom wolf joined me a short time ago on the third hour of today. We talked about President Trump calling pennsylvanias voting process into question. The president said hes going to be keeping an eye on governor wolf. I asked the governor whether that constitutes voter intimidation. It constitutes ignorance. First of all, the governor in pennsylvania does not count the ballots. Ballots are counted by each county in 67 counties. Theyre responsible for counting the ballot. So im not sure why he said that or what he meant by it. But all of us in pennsylvania, every county, department of state, all of us have been working to make sure this election is fair and open and calm and safe. Youre clearly someone. Who takes care of yourself. So why wait to screen for colon cancer . Because when caught in early stages, its more treatable. Im cologuard. Im noninvasive and detect altered dna in your stool to find 92 of colon cancers. Even in early stages. Tell me more. Its for people 45 plus at average risk for colon cancer, not high risk. False positive and negative results may occur. Ask your prescriber or an online prescriber if cologuard is right for you. Ill get on it thats a step in the right direction. Oh, you think thats a bad move . So youre saying i should go to subway for a delicious footlong. Amazing speech coach. I know. Now in the app get a free footlong, when you buy two. Because its footlong season. Teeth sensitivity as well as gum issues. Does it worry me . Absolutely. Sensodyne sensitivity gum gives us the dual action effect that really takes care of both our teeth sensitivity as well as our gum issues. Theres no question its something that i would recommend. Theres no question its something did you know that 70 of the on your clothes are invisible . Under u. V. Light, you see the invisible dirt trapped deep down. Try new tide pods hygienic clean heavy duty. For a deep clean, just toss in a pac. Formulated with 10 concentrated cleaning actives, that clean deep down into the fabric to remove invisible dirt. See the difference, after being washed with tide hygienic clean. For a deep clean, try tide hygienic clean with a 100 money back guarantee if its got to be clean, its got to be tide. Weve got a close eye on capitol hill this wednesday morning because the heads of facebook, twitter and googles Parent Company are all testifying before the Senate Commerce committee. Theyre testifying virtually. Theyre being grilled on their respective companys efforts or lack thereof in some cases to rein in hate speech and misinformation on those platforms, this election season and beyond. Nbcs jo ling kent has been watching and listening to this hearing. Also with me, ben collins who closely covers the spread of that misinformation and conspiracies on the web. Jo, ill start with you. First of all, why are they testifying now and what have they been saying . What are the committees concerns. Lawmakers have been wanting to get these tech ceos in front of them before the election for a while now. The whole entire debate is around section 230, a statute that allows companies excuse me Tech Companies to be not to be liable for the content that users are posting to their platforms. Theres a big debate about whether or not that should stand. But the ceos largely defending that. Here is a few highlights of what theyve had to say so far. Some of you dont trust were acting in good faith. Thats the problem i want to focus on solving. How do Services Like twitter earn your trust . As a Company Whose mission it is to organize the worlds information and make it universally accessible and useful, google is aware of the risks the internet presents. I think congress should update the law to make sure its working as intended. Another would be to separate good actors from bad actors by making sure companies cant hide behind section 230. Not much progress has been made as to what should actually change about section 230 at this point. Senator ted cruz now questioning jack dorsey, as you can see there. He said he already talked to zuckerberg and pa chai yesterday extensively. You can expect a pretty aggressive line of questioning there. Basically the republicans are being concerned their conservative content is taken down too often while the democrats are arguing that hate speech, misinformation, disinformation, violence is not being properly monitored enough on these platforms. This is just a few days before the election. Ben, stand by for a moment. Jack dorsey, that beard, jo. Have any of the senators asked him about that quarantine beard hes rocking now . Its certainly very notable. Its been a big topic of conversation on twitter. He does have a sport coat on. Whats also interesting about this hearing is Mark Zuckerberg in charge of the most powerful social media platform in the world could not get connected in time for his opening remarks to start. They had to take a brief recess for that. He was supposedly alone and trying to get connected. He eventually did. Just like the rest of us. Ben, youve been tracking the steps these companies have been trying to take over the last few years to control the spread of false information, misinformation, disinformation. Based on what youve seen, are these companies doing better than they were at least a year or two ago . I this i they are. Look, ive looked stupid on television a lot saying over the last years, hey, theyre taking some steps here and the next day something horrific happens and you can trace it back to facebook. They are trying now to curtail this stuff. Facebook said they were banning militarized social movements that included qanon, 18,000 different instagram accounts, a company that facebook owns, were taken down in that purge just in that last month. So they are trying to sort of curtail all the violence on the platform. The questions today with congress from the left are, the next time something new comes up, is the algorithm driving people to these extremist places . Are you playing whackamole here . Thats the question thats outstanding from the left. From the right, they called this hearing because theres this New York Post story with hunter biden that was shut off from twitter and facebook because it contained hacked and leaked materials. That was explicitly against the rules. Twitter changed the rules to, if it goes through the New York Post, its allowed to be on the platform. They are not happy and they want to make it so stuff like that is allowed on the platform. Thats the disconnect here theyre having two very different conversations today. Ben collins, thank you. Jo ling kent, thank you. I trust by this time tomorrow you will have gotten to the bottom of that beard. Wow. Quote, trumps fantasy of restarting the economy to end the pandemic is exactly backward. Thats what the head of the Largest Group of unions in the counted just wrote. He is going to join me next. Were going to dig into why he thinks the president is so wrong about that. First, check this out. Law and orders maris ska hargitay handing out cookies to those waiting in line to vote in new york city. How about that . Well be right back. Dont start humira if you have an infection. Be there for you. And them. Ask your gastroenterologist about humira. With humira, remission is possible. Its a choice between a trump boom or a biden lockdown. Lets lock it all down. By the way, speaking of lockdowns, lets get your governor to open it up. Lets get her to open it up. That was President Trump in wisconsin on tuesday, again saying we need to end some coronavirus precautions to jump start the economy, but the head of the Largest Group of unions, Richard Trumka of the aflcio, he calls that a fantasy. He wrote an oped and it reads americans cannot untangle the economic and Public Health crises putting us in danger at our workplaces or leaving us without jobs until we first get the virus under control. I want to bring in Richard Trumka. The aflcio, we should note, has endorsed joe biden. Richard, you call the president s approach backward. Why . Because he doesnt understand that in order to fix the economy, first you have to control the virus, and to control the virus, you have to protect workers so that you dont continue to spread the virus and continue to have hot spots. He thinks, if you open the economy, everything will go away and be great for everyone. But you see what the result of that has been. We continue to have hot spots. You cant open schools unless you do it safely. He has it back yards, and ive said that repeatedly. He has an Occupational Safety and health administration, craig that has been awol in this pandemic. Will not issue a safety standard. He even orders us back to work even out ppe in some instances. Its the exact opposite approach we should be taking. What are two or three things specifically that this administration could do right now to get people back to work in the midst of a pandemic . One, they could issue a National Pandemic standard so employers would know what they have to do to keep workers safe. Two, they could make sure workers on the job, essential workers that, in essence, have become expendable workers in this administration, that they have the proper ppe that they can do. And make sure the Occupational Safety administration has the resources to be able to inspect employers and make sure they comply with the standards. Osha right now has the fewest number of inspectors its had in its entire history. Its a cadaver of what it used to be and what it needs to be. Nbc news reported last week, richard, you called for an emergency meeting of union heads to come up with a contingency plan to counter what you saw as a potential trump camp attempt to threaten or intimidate people at the polls or even interfere with vote counting. The report also said the meeting was canceled. Was the meeting canceled because those concerns subsided . No, not at all. The meeting was canceled, was moved to a different day because we couldnt get enough people we had some conflicts and i didnt want those conflicts to exist. Look, the lessons of our histories are pretty clear, craig. Democracies are not protected by judges or lawyers or reporters or even publishers. The survival of democracy democracies are protected by workers. Were prepared to protect democracy, one torques make sure everybody who wants to vote, gets to vote. Two, to make sure every one of the votes thats cast gets counted so we know and the Voters Decide who is president , not judges and legislatures decide. Our system is designed so that the Voters Decide, and we want to make sure that the Voters Decide in this election. Richard trumka, well leave it there. Richardaflcio. Thank you for your time this morning. Right now were seeing a sharp uptick in the rate of Colorectal Cancer in young people. So the u. S. Preventive service task force has now decided people should start getting screened at the age of 45. This is five years earlier than past guidelines suggest. I talked to dr. Kim many ing about that on today. So when the task force considered this new evidence and put it into their modeling that forms the basis of their guidelines and recommendations and looked at the benefits versus the harms, the balance started to tip in favor of lowering the age down to 45 because more cancer deaths will be prevented and lives saved with relatively few harms or complications. Colorectal cancer continues to be the third leading cause of cancerrelated death in the United States. Thats according to the american cancer society. Please get screened. Venezuelan americans make up 2 of floridas hispanic electorate. Thats according to pew research. Seems like a smau number, right . Why it could change everything come tuesday. Were also following more breaking news this hour. Hurricane zeta gaining strength fast, expected to make landfall in just a few hours. Right now its a category one storm. More than 6. 3 Million People have already voted in florida. Thats up 71 from this point four years ago. Nbcs ellison barber joins me from doral, florida. Shes been tracking the Trump Campaign efforts to target venezuelan americans specifically in part of our down to county coverage. Also joining me, maria hinojosa, the anchor and executive producer of nprs latino usa and shes somehow found time to write a new book. Once i was you, a memoir of love and hate in a torn america. Ellison, what ellison, what are you hearing on the ground from the venezuelanvoters youve been talking to . Reporter craig, let me start with the obvious here. Miamidade is a county that we do not expect President Trump to win. Back in 2016, cubanamericans and venezuelanamericans helped prevent Hillary Clinton from getting a total landslide here and arguably helped pave the way for President Trump to naturally row narrowly win this state. President trump is trying to tie joe biden to far left socialist parties, a message resonating in south florida. Biden is not a socialist and has tried to more forcefully come out and make that point but for many people it isnt having an impact. We sat down with two venezuelanamericans who are supporting President Trump to try and understand why. The message of the campaign has been kind of catered towards venezuelans. Why . Because of the things we are lacking in venezuela that venezuelans feel with President Trump they will get again. Biden has said im not a socialist. He said it at the last debate, im the one at the head of the ticket, not those guys, forth about that. Tell me why that argument isnt resonating. You know for a fact the first word he came on saying is, we are progressive. Mrs. Harris is the most progressive liberal candidate we have ever had. When you hear that word, you know exactly where its going. You know exactly what progressive means. That is just a hidden agenda of that socialist movement. Reporter venezuelanamericans only make up 2 of floridas eligible latino voters. But they are the fastestgrowing group of latinoeligible voters in this state. One thing ive heard from some of bidens latino supporters here is they wish he had more forcefully pushed back against that socialist narrative months ago because its something, to quote one person i spoke with, that causes and invokes a lot of trauma for People Living in this community so they wish he had more forcefully addressed that, although they have forcefully come out against it in recent weeks. Ellison, thank you very much. Maria, based on what youre seeing in florida, the conversations in the Latinx Community specifically, this idea that mr. Biden is a socialist and represents socialism, is that resonating with a lot of folks there in florida . It is. You know, the Trump Campaign and President Trump himself goes low. And he deals with fear. And he knows that this is a Winning Ticket for him. And so he has really been preying on the traumas, at ellison was saying. This is very traumatic for venezuelans, for cubans, many years ago. It is traumatic. The Trump Administration saying biden is the big socialist, hell do exactly what all the authoritarians have done and take everything away, hes been playing on that, not just in the past three or four months but for the past two years. Whereas the Biden Administration should have seen this coming. The Biden Administration could have said, you know what authoritarianism looks like, it looks like President Trump, in the things that hes doing. And somehow they didnt get that argument down pat. And i think theyre going to pay for it, because one thing that we do know is that whether or not florida is won by trump or by biden, latinos and latinas will have a decisive vote there, specifically venezuelans and evangelicals. What about arizona . I know youve been talking to folks in arizona as well. Whats that conversation been like . I was in arizona exactly ten years ago when sb 1070, this very antiimmigrant restrictive law, was brought into action. And you had young people who at that point were chaining themselves, doing civic disobedience. Those young people who started as activists because of that law in a red state have now decided to start running for office, their activism has become more sophisticated. And they are reaching to young latinos and latinas who might be voting for the first time. Remember, every, what is it, 60 seconds, a latino turns 18 in this country. That youth vote that was radicalized by republicans could turn out to be what moves arizona definitively into a blue state. Last question, really quickly, maria, not to put you on the spot, lets go back to florida for a moment, arizona as well. If you had to predict whats going to happen come tuesday night, what say you . Yeah, this is why were all on pins and needles. Im really focusing on latino and latina young voters because theyre not getting a lot of polling. While their parents and grandparents may be more falling for the trump line, whether or not they will could be the thing that moves. So thats what im watching. Well leave it there, maria hinojosa, thank you. Ellison barber on the ground for us in florida, thanks as always for your hard work. Folks, be sure to watch our Election Night coverage. Joe biden back in delaware, holding a meeting right now with his covid medical team after a rousing speech to firedup supporters in georgia where biden is trying to expand the battleground. [ cheers and applause ] President Trump continuing his battleground blitz, today in arizona continuing to deny the covid surge around the country while making a confounding new pitch to suburban women in michigan.
