All in the family, how the president s son have became a star on the campaign trail. Family members of two other trump allies are calling them out in a public family feud. Lets start with omarosas scorn and the white house is in full damage control mode. All thanks to the fired white house aide who President Trump always promises and delivers high drama. Today, Omarosa Manigaultnewman released two tapes, one with the president and the other inside whats supposed to be the most secured area of the white house. Here on msnbc, she said that the president S Communications team actually preps him to lie on a daily basis. I want to talk about the lester holt interview where you said that the team prepared him well then he went into the interview and he said what a lot of people believed to be the truth and he fired jim comey over russia. So was he being prep ped to lie . He was being prepped by hope hicks to say that the d. O. J. Ca comes up with the memo so they can justify. They prep him to lie everyday. All right, lets start with kelly odonell. Give us the latest including what we know of whats on those two tapes and why they have appeared to rattle the president and his staff. First of all, the president is headed to the airport here in new jersey and onto new york for a bill signing regarding defense spending today and our on the road Briefing Room is being disassembled around us here of the 11day vacation coming to an end. The president is reacting on twitter to omarosa and we are hearing for the first time what she describes a phone call between the president and herself after he learns about her dismissal from the white house. Notably, he refers to learning on television, she points to that and says it is an indication that the president is out of the loop in his own white house. She at first in her interviews and the book tour that shes on has said it shows the president does not know whats going on and she has also said that it was the president sort of faming that he did not know and he directed her dismissal but wanted general kelly to carry it out and hes sort of being the nice guy. Here is an exert of that video that omarosa provided to msnbc, you can hear for yourself. There are pretty significant legal issues that we hope dont develop into something that thatll make it ugly for you. But, i think it is important to understand that if we make this a friendly departure, we can all be, you know, you can look at your time here at the white house as a year of service to. Omarosa, whats going on . I saw on the news that you are thinking about leaving. General kelly came to me and said that you guys wanted me to leave. No, nobody told me about it. Wow. They run a big operation but i dont know that. Yeah, damn it, i dont love you leaving at all. Well, perhaps he does love here leaving because the president has been talking about Omarosa Manigaultnewman and calling her a low life and he would use twitter. He believes that because of the interests that her book and her media tour is generating that he needs to counter act that. The most recent tweet we are seeing this afternoon, hes giving her the wacky omarosa already has a fully signed nondisclosure agreement. It is more unusual to see this in a government setting but we heard from a number of government officials that they have in fact signed confidentiality agreements to not talk about what happens behind the scenes. The president is asserting she did sign such a document and she have said she did not and offered the job at the campaign with a nondisclosure agreement and she would not consent to that and obviously shes telling her story now. Thank you so much. I want to bring in ned price, and Jeff Mackintosh and david french. David, i am going to get to the issue of this in just a moment. First, here you have one of the people who of course donald trump said he would only have the best people, she says the white house preps the president of the United States to lie everyday. What do you make of that . You know he does not need to be prep to lped to lie. This is a guy that got a real problem of telling the truth no matter whos telling him. We know he tells untruth multiple times every time everyday but did you have the sense that there were people potentially behind the scenes who were actually crafting lies or do you believe it at all . Let me put it this way, i dont believe anything that Donald Trump Tells me. I dont believe anything that omarosa tells me. When theyre in a war of words, how are any of us to know the truth . This is reality tv star meets reality tv president and reality tv drama and sues. Well make a mistake if we try to parse all of this when neither side of this dispute is remotely credible. There are some things that we can look at that seems to be actual facts that she taped general kelly in the situation room, that seems to be a fact or that though actual words of the call was donald trump that seems to be a fact. We can parse those things. The stories here how can anyone know whats true . Now you have of course as kelly just pointed out that hes calling her wacky and he called her a lowlife. But, he hired her knowing exactly what he was getting, didnt he . Yes, he has known omarosa for 15 years. This is not somebody thats part of her selling point that they know each other so well. Yes, neither one of them have any credibility on this matter. It does matter that they have had a working relationship that long. If you are willing okay, the white house is our house, the white house belongs to the American People. Thats where our states secrets live. He knew what character omarosa was made of when he hired her and brought her to the white house. Can you criticize her and believe her at the same time . Yes, absolutely. The message by which shes doing this are horrible. Secretly taping the secret staff is ground for an investigation. Thats so appalling. Is donald trump clearly coached to lie . He must be. He lies more than anybody. Does Sarah Sanders lie from the podium . Yes, we know that. I dont know if it is Mental Illness or real intellectual curiosity but we see it everyday. He has proven to have all of these traits over and over again which means we have to take it seriously. Most importantly the fact that all of those years put us in the situation where somebody like that is in our white house. In the situation room, ned, i think you are among the people and this is what i hear from you having watched you on air so many times and interviewed you so many times. You have someone going into the situation room with the chief of staff, with a tape recorder, what went through your mind when you heard that ned . What has gone through my mind consistently that this is bigger than omarosa. This is bigger than one staffer and one former white house staffer. This is a culture within this white house and administration of disregard for our national security. The white house situation room is predicated on a system of trust. There is not anyone in there that warns you or there is not a metal detector that no one brings in his or her cell phone. Thats not the case. These are the most experienced and knowledgeable and most loyal Public Servants or at least they are supposed to be. Previous administration, people entered that room are the most trusted Public Servants that we have. Unfortunately, this president has gathered a cast of charactecharacte characters and frankly it is literally a cast. That does not meet that standard. We have seen the implications of that not only with this episode but time and again. White house staffers disregarding a culture of Information Security thats persuasive and it comes from the top. This is from the president that spills Sensitive Information that we have in to the oval office. It is a maralago dining room where they have their iphones outlo out looking at classified information. I want to read trumps tweet on omarosa. While i know it is not president ial to take on a lowlife like omarosa, this is a modern day form of communication, i know the Fake News Media will be working overtime to make wacky omarosa to look as legitimate as possible. Sorry. David, so the president of the United States says he does not care if he looks president ial or not. Well, i think thats one of the more obvious statements out there. There was another tweet that i thought was more revealing. There was a segment in another tweet, he wanted things to work out because she said great, in all caps of great things about me. The president can be won over by flattery. It is one of the reasons why you see a lot of his allies flattering the heck out of this guy because they know that it works so well. It works so well that flattery will get a person like omarosa in the white house. If there is any Silver Lining in this cloud it is that at least once again we have some addition by subtraction. The administration is better now that shes out. The administration is better now that steve bannon and now that Michael Flynn is out. A lot of this early attrition and turmoil have improved the place. I want to go back to the whole idea of the taping in the situation room. I mean thats not even to put aside the fact that she taped the conversation with the president of the United States. When you this i of donald trump you can make ethical arguments of the taping of that conversation. There were a lot of people or if not everybody in the white house who was intimidated by omarosa. Maybe that was the reason she was able to get a tape recorder in the situation room. Lets play part of what that conversation was. I think it is important to understand that if we make this a friendly departure we can all be, you can look at your time here at the white house as a year of service to the nation and then you can go on without any type of difficulty in the future relative to your reputation. Can i ask you a couple of questions . Is the president aware of this . Lets not go down the road. It is a nonnegotiatable discussion. If this is my departure, i want to have the opportunity to understand. This has to do with some internal violations. So i will let it go with that. This staff and everyone on this staff works for me and not the president. So i guess jess, in the big picture and i meant to check somebody in the control can do it while we are talking, last i checked the book was not run away best seller but obviously shes doing everything she can to get it high up on that best seller. What are we to make in the big picture of all of this. We should be worried of the caliber of people of whoever donald trump put in the white house and including donald trump himself. If people are intimidated by omarosa to the point they are compromising security, we should be concerned of the way they are handling Vladimir Putin and kim jongun. Thats the biggest take away from all of this which is really quite sad. It is sad that the president decided to vote four tweets to it when he had yet said anything about the thousands dead in puerto rico or unite the right to march nazis defendants on the capital yesterday. The fact that hes putting this much emotion and energy at this time really shows where his priorities are. Presales have put the book at number 11. Well see where it goes from here. Ned price and Jeff Mackintosh and jess french, thank you all of you. Fired, strzok. And racial white house, omarosa, the former top aide goes on this all out media blits. Plus, all in the family, the trump who may be the most wanted trump on the campaign trail. Why the president s oldest son is in high demand, coming up. Why did i want a crest 3d white smile . Well, it took minutes today for President Trump to respond publicly to the firing of peter strzok. The fbi agent known for his antitrump texts while investigation of the russian interference. Agent peter strzok was just fired from the fbi finally. The list of bad players in the fbi and doj gets longer and longer. Based on the fact that strzok was in charge of the witch hunt. Moments after that, he tweeted again. Just fired agent strzok, formally of the fbi was charge of the crooked Hillary Clinton sham investigation. Pete williams is joining me right now. Reporter we know it happened on friday and it was a departure from the fbi rule. An internal discipline process recommended that hell be suspended for 60 days and relief for duties. The departmeuty director on fri fired him. The decision not only a departure but contradicts Christopher Wrays testimony in congress. He says it is a decision that produces what he calls a deeply disturbing result. He says it was the result of political pressure and the fbi and the American People deserv d better. You have to wonder whether he and his lawyer consider potential legal action. You may remember Andrew Mccabe when he was fired did suggest that he may under take legal action against the fbi because he said that firing was politically motivated. Now strzoks lawyers are saying the firing was politically motivated. Recall that after the texts surfaced in which strzok were saying things back and forth, that was criticized by the Justice Department inspector general. After the ig report came out earlier this year in june, the fbi director Christopher Wray says he was going to under take new kind of training for fbi agents and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. Pete, thank you for that. The former assistant is joining me now, our msnbc legal analyst, i want to pick up what pete said. Could he have a case . He could be laid for possible legal action but the question is what is the normal procedure for dealing with an employee situation like this . It very well could be you get a recommendation from one board and the Deputy Director has certain discretion to accept it or reject it in a certain number of days and the e requequestiont is in the fbi filing on this. Is there a record explaining why that recommendation was not followed . Well, it is not clear at least to according to recording that we have seen, it is not clear why they over rule, the office of professional responsibilities. There could be a good reason for it. We dont know unless we see the actual record. The idea that President Trump would be tweeting about this minutes after it happens is rep p rep and going after the fbi. He has no business sticking his nose into a personnel batter his nose into a personnel batter his nose into a personnel batter his nose into a personnel batter matter at the fbi. Agent strzok did not do anything to undermine the campaign when he was in a perfect position to do that. We have Steve Scalise and mccartney, also if you are in those kinds of positions you dont get involved in a personnel manner. They tweeted it is long overdue and it is about time. There is no evidence that came out shows that strzoks personal view affected his work. How much of this does come down to partisan politics . Certainly they are using it for partisan politics. It is improper by President Trump and congress. The question becomes one of process and procedures and the facts of the fbi as to how they dealt with this and what the paper trails show. Lets face it people just do not know how to use emails whether it is in Corporate America or the government. If you are not willing to have what you say appear in front of the New York Times you should never put it in an email. Maybe some people dont follow it closely as our viewers here, when you have james comey and Andrew Mccabe, and now we have strzok, somebody that we have seen the tweets and emails and we know what he said seemingly proHillary Clinton and antidonald trump and third high ranking fbi officials involved in this investigation to be gone. Does it hurt the legitimacy of the probe . Its got nothing to do with the muellers probe. He took them off the investigation, that was the right thing to do. It should not hurt it in any way. Thats why mueller took it off in the first instance because he realized that it could create a problem. People should not do that tch. You do not use emails and do not put your thoughts and opinions it is something that people should not do. Nick ackerman it is good to see you. Prosecutors are expected to rest their case today on the manaforts case. The verdict could be reached pie the end of the week. Manafort has been charged with 18 tax and banking crimes. Omarosa manigaultnewman is firing back at President Trumps twitter attack. I think it is sad with all the things going on in the country that he would take the time out to insult me and my intelligence. This is mhis pattern of africanamericans. The white house is struggling to identify any africanamericans serving in the senior role in the west wing. Just listen to kellyanne conway. Who is the most prominent high level adviser to the president in the west wing staff right now . Africanamerican . Yes. You are not covering the fact of our secretary of housing and development. I am asking you of the white house staff. Thats important that he hes the president works with secretary carson everyday. Who is there in white house staff right now . We have geron who have done a fabulous job and hes been very involved with Jared Kushner and President Trump. He has been there from the beginning and he works with omarosa and all of us. Does he have an office in the west wing . But not in the west wing. That followed the weekend of protests at charlottesville. Ed gordon and msnbc white house jeff bennett is live at the white house. Jeff, omarosa, she was the highest level africanamerican serving on the west wing staff. Who has replaced her . Reporter after two days of putting questions to the white house officials, Sarah Sanders got back to us. Henry child the ii is carrying out many responsibilities that omarosa has. He does not have the same title that omarosa has and his office is not in the west wing. What matters is not just the white house does not have a top black staffer in the west wing, thats bigger than that is any white house staff, politics aside and any administration really from top to bottom should reflect the overall makeup of america. Both in terms of gender and geographic diversity and in terms of racial and ethnic diversity, too. There are 40 million africanamericans who are citizens of the United States of america. What does it say that they are not represented by a Single Person who works closely with the president in the west wing . Well, lets be clear, historically africanamericans, minorities in this country have not always been represented by means of their numbers in the white house. Historically i guess you can say they were slavery and you can say a lot of things about history but the fact that 2018, the president of the United States i am getting there chris. The truth the matter is even when omarosa was there, she was not given any real power, we are talking about the difference between diversity and inclusion. Diversity sometimes meets the idea of having a female face in room inclusion, it speaks to the idea of being powerful and being able to give a sense of your word having meaning. We never had that in this white house and it is no surprise to most africanamericans that it is devoided of color. There is this new poll out, 83 of republicans approved of the president handling issues and only 10 of democrats do. Do you think from the president s perspective is all good because hes keeping his base happy. What do you think is behind this . I think the first notion for this president is to keep his base happy. I dont think race has ever been an agenda point for this administration. I think he sees it as an opportunity. As i said yesterday to play fast and lose with whatever he needs. He knows it is a hot button issue and africanamericans feel the same of this administration, we were never fooled that was going to be the idea of race and helping to unite this country, ever going to be a front burner issue for this president. You know i think because of the access hollywood scandal, jeff bennett, a lot was talked about with the president or he was the boss and a lot discussing of how many women he promoted and he does have women who are around him. We saw kellyanne conway, obviously, his spokesperson is a woman. What do they say to explain or have they try to explain why there are no africanamericans. We have seen white house officials point to a few name from there. Kellyanne conway shouting out geron and she did not even know his last name. Geron smith. The president when speaking in the oval office who happens to be koreanamerican asked her why she was not working on the korean issue sugigesting that hr ethnicity should define her path. He was surprised according to people in the room when they did not know him, why would they . Ben carson never served in congress. The president s own approach to issues of race and ethnicity have affected hiring process across the white house. Jeff benefit, thank you to you both. Well talk about trump on the trail. A Rising Campaign star is giving republicans quite a boost ahead of the midterms, it is none other than donald trump jr. , the president s oldest son. An in demand campaign celebrity, hes set to make 28 Campaign Stops next week. 28 stops. Hes expected to stump alongside major candidates including ted cruz and Marsha Blackburn in tennessee. The president reportedly watching this on fox news with pride, don has really gotten good and my people love him. Joining me now Betsy Woodrow and our msnbc contributor, anna, i am seeing reaction among the faithfuls that they do love him. How much of an asset could he be . Hes a big asset as republicans. Hes not as toxic as his father is. He has a massive follower on twitter and on instagram. Hes relatable. He put photos of himself hunting and making fun with people. He connects in way similar to the president himself. Betsy, the washington post, posts today trump is determined to be the central republican force in the Fall Campaign and trump jr. , i wonder is he setting himself up by raising the profile or sticking to this lane, sticking to people that already love dad or is he pretty safe . As long as hes acting like trump and taking a step further as the president may i think hes probably going to be effective for for the Political Goals which he has been dispatched. The Republican Base loves him and he seems to love them back. It is something that hes quite enthusiastic about. He seems to relish kind of taking politics and focusing less on policy and more on sort of the notion of owning the lives. Trump jr. Is out spoken about gun rights and hunting. Those are things he made it central of his political brand. Thats sort of the project that he under takes. Hes likely to get the Republican Base quite excited. His kids have been at least publicly and i include ivanka in this have not been critical of him. Not true in all political families. Just within the last few minutes bobby goodlad, chairman of the White House Committee tweeted this. I am deeply embarrassed that Peter Strzoks career was ruined by my fathers political grand standing. That Committee Hearing was low point for congress. Thank you for your serviceservi. Do these things matter . It was interesting this morning. He was up tweeting early, choosing that hes supporting the full amount in Campaign Contributions to a woman, Jennifer Lewis whos trying to succeed his father and whos retiring after 13 terms. Hes making a Public Statement here. I think oftentimes the family feuds and the political side of things happen behind the scenes. There is usually an effort to tamper it down. This guy is his own person and hes living in california and you know hes going to get active and he says he has recruited five others to gi Jennifer Lewis as much as he did. Betsy, politico had a headline today. Is this just sort of again business as usual that we saw for example again within the reagan family or is there Something Different going on here that you sense because in addition to this, we goodlattes quotes. There has been others and public figures feeling the need to disagree. Is this about the social media age, what do you see going on here . The Common Thread here is immigration question. Thats something particularly that this opted focused on. We have seen ivanka and Melania Trump quietly suggest that they disagree or had problems with President Trumps policy of family separations and the important thing to remember with this immigration is that politically it is something that seems likely to cause trouble for republicans in the years to come. While in 2001 only 10 of americans wanted Legal Immigration level to go up and now that percentage is more than triple and more than 30 of americans want more Legal Immigration and over that same window of time, the percentage of americans who want less Legal Immigration, who want the type of restrictive policy that Steven Miller has favored. I forgotten that. Ivanka trump just came back to me. He sals said th she says we are not the enemy of the people. Betsy woodruff and ana palmer. Were not having success yet in d. C. Thats why november to me is everything. This vote means more to me than anything has in a really long time. We must fire those in d. C. Who remain silent, and we must make sure we hire those in d. C. Who want to be a part of the orange wave in november, who want to make gun safety a mandate issue. I want it to be clear in january when folks sit in the new congress that they are sitting next to people because they were hired because of their stance on gun safety and they lost members because of their stance on gun safety. Axeio says this fall the students plan something bigger. A get out the vote drive that will leverage their vaunted influence on social media, special twitter. Whats in the works for getting out the vote . Well, i cant speak for the students. They are going to launch and lay out their plans pretty soon. I can tell you im doing some things on my own. For example, through my hashtag orange wave in november i have a dads challenge. The kids have been amazingly organized. They have been amazing at getting their voice out. Dance moms have been amazingly organized at getting their voice out. Dads not so much. I am trying to get a million dads using the color orange and getting other dads to do the same. I am going to be traveling this country in the next few months. In fact, i am here in new york right now to do a Campaign Event with somebody who is running for the house. Ill be doing these kinds of events across the country between now and november because, number one, we must get the vote out. We must have a massive turnout. All of these threats to our voter integrity, we can overcome them if its a massive turnout. And people need to know what is happening right now, that there is one party who is sitting on the sidelines of this issue and one party that isnt. I tried to be nonpartisan, but our Senate Majority leader stood last month it was in front of the senate and said, dont look to this body to do anything about the issue of gun safety. He needs to be fired from his position. Fred guttenberg, thank you so much for coming on. I can only imagine how raw all of this remains for you, will always be, especially after being at newtown. Thank you so much for coming on the program. Thank you for having me. Have a great day. You, too. In a few minutes President Trump going to be arriving at ft. Drum, new york.
