Bipartisan meeting with lawmakers about immigration tuesday a federal judge in california issued a nationwide injunction ordering the Trump Administration to revive part of daca. House republicans are expected to unveil their version of an ingration bill in about 30 minutes. Now, a separate bipartisan meeting just started to discuss how to move ahead on daca and Immigration Reform, and a troubling report from Senate Democrats that finds the United States lacks a coordinated approach to countering future election meddling from russia and other foreign actors. A lot to get to. Start with Kelly Odonnell from the white house. Capitol hill correspondent kasie hunt at capitol hill. Kelly break it down what do we hear from the president or white house about the court case, the daca injunction . Reporter in one word, ali, its outrageous. What press secretary Sarah Sanders says and the president weighed in. Rolling it back 24 hours when the president was having that sprawling meeting with members of both parties from capitol hill talking about immigration, he laid out some principles for what he hopes a pursuit of immigration, border security, as well as extending Legal Protections for young immigrants could look like. Here is first how the president described his goals for what a negotiation could try to achieve. We agree to pursue four major areas yesterday of reform. Securing our border, including, of course, the wall which has always been included. Never changed. Ending chain migration. Canceling the visa lottery and addressing the status of the daca population. Reporter so there the president , although not giving details is linking all of those differ elements of borderrelated issues to one potential bill. Responding to the court action, the president used twitter. Shows how unfair. The 9th circuit, truns to them and almost always reversed. What the white house described as an intervention by the court at a time when the president is trying to bring different parties together across the political spectrum. We have also developments on the hill side as well, showing encourage ant about this. Frustration, outrage. The words of the day. The hill side is confounding to me, kasie. Weve heard from jeff flake. Heard others. Bipartisan effort, talked how theyre closing in on some kind of deal and then the Republican House members are about to hold a press Conference Unveiling their own version of partisan Immigration Reform. So seems like theres a lot going on on immigration on the hill right now . Reporter ali, as complicated as the debates can get here, weve talked through many right here in this hour of television, this one is extraordinarily muddled and different to follow. Seems as though the most promising or the most likely route to a solution for d. R. E. A. M. Ers becoming law will come out of this bipartisan sgrup in the sena group in the Senate Working all the way long. Just in a meeting, they were huddled in dick durbin the office, number two democrat on the senate side. That group included jeff flake, bob menendez, michael bennett, others, Lindsey Graham, and senators emerged from that meeting and told our team it actually went better than some of them expected. Dick durbin saying he was somewhat surprised the white house meeting yesterday seems to have actually helped their negotiating position. What happens next now as we are anticipating the number twos, so to speak, the number two democrat and republican from both houses of congress to meet in Kevin Mccarthys office. He, of course, the number two House Republican to try to figure out the way forward. This is one of those situations where almost always its the senate where the real deal gets done, because theyre going to have to, in this case, find democrats to vote in favor of this. That may not necessarily be the case. On the house side. But the house side is so collected collect complicated on this issue. Youre seeing it simmer. Rush limbaugh making comments about President Trumps base. Thats a group of conservative republicans, will give paul ryan a lot of heartburn on this issue. They need democratic votes in the house. A question of threading the needle, add the level of the unpredictable oval office and be its unclear how this ends. Kelly, a lot to talk about at the White House Press conference. Not a lot of opportunity. I think the president will probably call on two reporters. The president also tweeting about the russia investigation, the witchhunt as he calls it. What will happen in this press conference that will happen with the Prime Minister of norway soon . Reporter expected to make opening remarks, and could give the president a chance to talk about the big, sweeping issues that would have Common Ground between the u. S. And norway. Expect some of that. Then as the tradition goes, typically its two questions per side. Each press corps. So Prime Minister salsberg and then the u. S. Part of that calculation, what has the president said in opening remarks and what needs to be followed up on from a journalist point of view of trying to move the ball on the news of the day. It could certainly be on the issue of immigration. It could be on his comments related to the russia investigation. It could be on developments with iran and north korea. Especially when foreign leaders are here, often the topics skew to the international stage. Well see how it plays out today, but its an important opportunity for the president could be questioned. We dont always get those in a kind of controlled environment so often. Sort of shouting a question at the president. Here a more calm location, which could maybe allow for thoughtful, probing questions and perhaps get more real insight on some of these critical issues, which the president has almost on immigration in particular, as kasie used the word muddled. Not trying to be too specific tore allow for whatever the process is to unfold. Perhaps he can be nailed down on some of the details. Especially now that hes heard back from members, especially of the conservative base. Lope springs eternal. Doing this a long time. I love your optimism that still might happen. Well watch it live. If it happens, it happens in this hour. Thank you both. Also following developments on a new report from Senate Democrats that says, russias election meddling fits a global pattern, and that the United States is not prepared to counter future attacks. Earlier today democratic senator ben cardin of maryland, commissioned the report, had this to say about President Trumps lack of action on the issue. Today the current president of the United States still barely acknowledges the threat posed by mr. Putins repeated attacks on democratic governments and institutions, let alone exercises the kind of leadership history has shown is necessary to effectively counter this kind of aggression. Never before has a u. S. President clearly ignored a grave threat to u. S. National security. Bringing in reporter mike nemly. What can you tell us other than a criticism of the president not even giving a basic acknowledgement of the interference russia has had in the u. S. Elections. What else is in there . Its a big report. Yeah. 200 pages, ali. What the democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee really wanted to do, lay out in as much detail as possible how over the last two decades Vladimir Putin first strengthened his hold on power in russia and then sought to expand russias influence throughout the world in large part by undermining the democracies of were western europe and ultimately trying that here in the United States. This report gets into everything from how russia essentially rigged the olympics in 2014 through its doping campaign, trying to get as many russian athletes gold medals as possible, to much more serious issues, like how russian agents contributed to and attempted a coup attempt in montenegro, when they were trying to join the europe union. Democrats say its important for this report to lay out ways many of our european allies have been successful pushing back on this russian meddling, because putin will keep pushing. If were not pushing back, thats going to be a big issue for us. I dont know if it will come up in the press conference. Scandinavian and generally European Countries are better as some influence campaigns or managing them. Were just not good at it, because we dont acknowledge it. Dont have a president prepared to acknowledge it. Tech companies that are dragging their feet on the whole thing. Did they have specific proposals how to counter this russian influence . Yes. Dozens of different recommendations included in this report. Interrupting you, mike. The president is coming out. Were going to listen to him. All right. Lets hear. Thank you very much. Good afternoon. Im honored to welcome Prime Minister salberg of norway to the white house. Madam Prime Minister, its been a pleasure to host you today. Had some very interesting discusses, as we strengthen the wonderful friendship between our two countries. Norwegians and americans have so much in common. Were nations made up of strong, pioneering and adventurous people, to say the least. Over 1,000 years ago, daring voyagers of norwegian descent, sump as eric the red, braved treacherous seas in courageous missions of exploration. Centuries later during the second world war, brave norwegians escaped occupied norway to fight alongside americans and the allies, including on the beaches of normandy in 1944. Our friendship builds on this proud and noble history and is rooted in our commitment to confront the problems of today with that same confidence and that same determination, and i think it might even be greater determination. Weve just conclude add series of discussions on how we can Work Together to promote a future of security and world prosperity, and, also, a great future for our respective countries working together. The Prime Minister and i are both committed to strengthening the nato alliance. Norway has made contributions to the natoled mission in afghanistan where we are doing very well. Its been turned around. As well as to nato and natos enhanced forward presence in poland, and the baltic states. I want to thank the Prime Minister and the norwegian people for their participation in these efforts. I encourage norway to follow through on its commit to meet the 2 of gdp defense spending obligation so that together we can confront the full range of threats facing our nations. And i believe norway will get there quite soon. Norway is also a vital and valued member of the campaign to defeat isis. Because of us, isis has now lost almost 100 of the territory it previously held. Not so long ago, in iraq and in syria. Were grateful for norways civilian assistance efforts and generous humanitarian aid to the region. Theyve been out there and really doing an incredible job. Im also pleased to share that the economic ties between our two countries are robust and growing. The United States currently has a trade surplus which is shocking. Do you believe im saying we have a surplus . There arent too many. You have to go back and check your people, but were getting more and more surpluses all over the world. I will say that. I told that to the Prime Minister. But our two countries are robust and growing. The United States currently has a large contingent of products that we sell, and back and forth with norway, and one of the big products, of course, is our military equipment. I want to thank the people of norway for their commitment to fair and reciprocal trade. A ward youll hear more and more coming from this administration, and it should have come from other administrations before me. Reciprocal trade. Which benefits us all. Free nations are stronger when the trade is fair. And trade has not been overly fair with the United States, but weve had that great relationship with norway, but remember the word reciprocal. In november we started delivering the first f52s and f35 fighter jets. We have a total 52 and theyve delivered a number of them already, agents ahead already, a little ahead of schedule. Its a 10 billion order. Norway invests onethird of. Sovereign wellfront in american Businesses Supporting hundreds of thousands of american jobs. Theyre very big investors in our stock market and, therefore, the Prime Minister thanked me very much, because their market is, you have done very well with your investments in the United States. Right . Thank you. Norways commitment to mutually beneficial commerce is a bhmode for other nations and it really is san amazing country. I look forward to forging an Even Stronger economic relationship between the United States and norway, growing this record of success with even more investment and more jobs and more job creation. Were also proud of our increasing cooperation on health and health security. And also on biodefense. Very important to both countries. I commend prime ministthe prime advances in disease prevention. Working hard on vaccines, cures to many ailments. Prime minister, i want to thank you again for joining us as the white house. For decades norwegians and americans have stood sidebyside against common threats to our freedom, our security and to our values. Together we have fought against fascism and communism and terrorism, and we face threats always, together. Were partners. Our partnership is advanced. Peace, cooperation and respect for Human Dignity around the world. Today we remain united in our efforts to confront shared challenges, to seize new opportunities, and to build a bright and beautiful future for our countries, our people, our children, and i think were doing very well working together, and we have a newfound friendship. So i want to thank you and god bless you. Thank you very much. Thank you, mr. President. And thank you for your generous welcome. Its a great honor to be here at the white house. The relationship between our two countries is strong and it has very deep roots. There are millions of u. S. Citizens who proudly call themselves norwegianamericans. And our knew weejun constitution the second oldest in the world that is still enforced was inspired by american ideals. And we have a long and continuous history of serving shouldertoshoulder on battle fields around the world. The u. S. Remains our most important ally, a major trade partner and close friend. Today we have discussed issues so far of importance in our relationship, how we can keep our countries and citizens safe, how we can grow our economies, further the cooperation and airing mutual interests. I assured President Trump that norway remains an ally and friend you can count on in the future. We are already number two in nato after the u. S. In terms of defense spending per capita, and we are making significant investments to further strengthen defense. And as the president said, this includes some big buys from american industry. 52 jets and our largest single Public Investment ever in norway and also buying new submarines and investments in intelligence capabilities and army assets, and which is important also for our job in the northern part. The American Economy is doing well. And our economic relations are flourishing. Thats to the benefit of both countries. As we discussed in our meeting, for a small country like norway, its important for our ability to trade that we have fair trade and multiple trade systems also. And we think its important for our future. Norwegian investments and Norwegian Companies supports close to half a million jobs in the United States. And through our government pension funds, substantial revenues from our own sectors are being invested in u. S. Assets. The u. S. Has an impressive business community. And i have commanded a leading role it is playing also in the transformation to a Green Economy. For example, one of the big areas we are now importing is electricing cars from tesla, and norways combating Climate Change. Its an important issue for us. And we are committed to the Paris Agreement. It leads to businesses and leads to american businesses also el issing cars in norway. At the same time the Green Economy is an area where we see tremendous economic and Business Opportunities in the future. And finally, i think its important to say that we also are discussing some of the big, difficult issues. For example, the development in afghanistan. Where i think and hope we can find a new future. Its important that we are all working together to find solutions both in north korea, afghanistan, syria and iraq. And since september 11, 2001, norway has contributed to a range of mission and operations including the fight against isis. And i have assured the president that we remain unwavering in our commitment to the fight against terrorism all over the world. So mr. President , i am looking forward to future cooperation, and thank you for a very fruitful meeting. Thank you. Okay. Some questions . How about Sarah Westwood . Where is sarah . Sarah . Thank you. Washington examiner. Yes. Thank you, mr. President. Yesterday in a meeting with lawmakers you said you would be open to signing just about any immigration deal that that Bipartisan Group of lawmakers sent to you. Right. Would you be willing to sign an immigration deal that ultimately did not include funding for the border wall, or is that a red line for you . No, no. No. Its got to include the wall. We need the wall for security. We need the wall for safety. We need the wall for stopping the drugs from pouring in. I would imagine that the people in the room both democrat and republican, i really believe theyre going to come up with a solution to the daca problem, which has been going on a long time, and maybe beyond that immigration as a whole. But any solution has to include the wall, because without the wall, it all doesnt work. You can look at other instances. Look what happened in israel. They put up the wall. South, a major problem. We need the wall. Have to have the wall for security purposes. Security is number one. So the answer is, have to have the wall. Thank you, and, please . Yes, can i can i call on, from the norwegian mr. President , Prime Minister. Recently an American General Robert Neller told his marines based in norway, theres a war coming. Biggest fight. Mr. President , imincident is a big war and where will it take place . Youre saying what, when you say the big war . It was an American General, Robert Neller, in the norwegian americans based in norway said theres a war coming. A bigass fight. When will that war come . Maybe he knows something that i dont know. Okay . I would say this i would say this, we have a very, very powerful military. Were getting more powerful by the month, by the day. Were ordering a lot of the equipment that youre ordering. Were ordering it but in larger amounts, to put it mildly. We are building up our military to a point weve never been before. Were also, we were very much weakened over the last long period of time, but not with me. No. I dont expect that. I think were going to have, because of strength, peace through strength. I think were going to have a long period of peace. I hope we do. We have certainly problems with north korea, but a lot of good talks are going on right now. A lot of good energy. I see a lot of good energy. I like it very much what im seeing. I just spoke this morning withes, as you know, with the president. President moon of south korea. He had some really great meetings. His representatives had a great, great meeting. And i had some very good feedback from that. Hopefully a lot of good things will work out. No. I think that we will have peace through strength. Our military will be stronger than it ever was in a very short period of time. Thats my opinion. Not the generals opinion, but i think my opinion counts more right now. Thank you. Maybe i can just add that the reason why we are so happy we have u. S. Marines training in norway, thats part of the deterrent strategy to make sure we dont have a war in the future. Yes . Do you have a question . Did you have a question for the Prime Minister . I do, yes, thank you. Madam Prime Minister, President Trump has said that the investigation into russian collusion makes our country look very bad and he said this morning that the world is laugh aring at our stupidity. So my question to you is, are you laughing at the Russian Investigation . I think i think that its up to every political system in countries to strutcrutinize and discuss their own political agendas very much and this san issue for american politics. I have to say it has impacted also in europe. All European Countries who have had elections this year has been looking into, will there be any tampers . We concluded after our election, we found none. Outside of norway, emphasis on that. During norwegians. There is collusion. More with the democrats and russians far moor than the republicans and russians. So the witchhunt continues. John, go ahead. Thank you, mr. President. I also have a question for the Prime Minister, but if i can address the president first. Sarah brought up the russia investigation. Your legal team, sources told us, believes in the next few weeks the special Counsel Robert Mueller will ask for some sort of are an interview with you. Your legal team believes its part of wrapping up his investigation. Are you open to meeting with him . Would you be willing to meet with him, without condition, or would you demand that a strict set of parameters be placed around any again, john, no collusion between the Trump Campaign and russians, or trump and russians. No collusion. When i watch you interviewing all of the people leaving their committees, i mean, the democrats are all running for office, trying to say this, but bottom line they all say, theres no collusion. And there is no collusion. Whenny talk about interviews, Hillary Clintonan interview where she wasnt sworn in. She wasnt given the oath. They didnt take notes. Didnt record. And it was done on the 4th july weekend. Thats, perhaps, ridiculous. A lot of people looked upon that as being a very serious breach, and it really was. But, again, ill speak to attorneys. I can only say this. There was absolutely no collusion. Everybody knows it. Every committee ive been ive been in office now for 11 months. For 11 months theyve had this phony cloud over this administration. Over our government. And it has hurt our government. It does hurt our government. Its a democrat hoax that was brought up as an excuse for losing an election that frankly the democrats should have won because they had such a tremendous advantage in the electoral college. So it was brought up for that reason, but its determined there is no collusion by virtually everybody. So well see what happens. Would you be open to well see what happens. Certainly ill see what happens, but when they have no collusion and nobodys found collusion, at any level, it seems unlikely youd even have an interview. Madam Prime Minister, norway shares a small but strategic border with russia. President trumps position has been its better to try to work with Vladimir Putin if possible than to work against him. Where do you come down on that idea . Betser to work with putin than to not work with putin . Well, i think russia is an important player in the International World and i dont think you cannot work with and talk to, but on the other hand, its important to say that we have a line with all the sanctions, as the European Union has done and as a member connected both to nato and interconnected and we have also suffered some economic difficulties in some areas. I know based on those sanctions. But on the other hand we have a very Good Relationship with russia over that border area. Where we do have very much Free Movement of people. Special people moving to and from. We have very Large Corporation on Sustainable Fisheries in this area. The biggest cod area in the word but a sustainable resource and we do patrol it and Work Together. We think its important to do two things at the same time. Yes, the International Law is there. There was a great lake of that through the annexation of crimea and the situation in ukrain and we stand by all our allies by that. We do daytoday work on things we have to solve for the people and the Economic Activity in that area, and which is a fragile area for the whole world. To add to the answer, i think it is much better to work with russia. Its very much better having to do with north korea, where we currently have a problem that should have never been my problem. Should have been a Problem Solved many years ago when much less dangerous, but it was giving to me along with other big fat messes and i am for the Strongest Military has the United States ever had. Putin cant love that. But hillary was not for a strong military, and hillary, my opponent, was for windmills, and she was for other types of energy that dont have the same capacities at this moment certainly. So i just want to say that its a lot better to work with other countries. Were working with china. Were working with various our countries and doing very well. We had a great talk, as you know and reported. We had a great talk this morning with president moon, and i think that a lot of good things are happening. Were going to see hatches, but working with other countries whether its russia or china or india or any of the countries that surround this world and encompass this world, thats a good thing, john. Thats not a bad thing. Thats a very good thing. Okay . Go ahead. And a question from mr. President , Prime Minister. Norway strongly supports the Paris Agreement, and have expressed regret that you had decided to leave it. What could persuade you to remain, and what kind of Common Ground did you find in your talks today on this topic . Well, it wasnt a major topic, i must tell you. We talked about other things, including mostly trade, but i will say that the Paris Agreement as drawn and as we signed was very unfair to the United States. It put great penalties on us. It made it very difficult for us to deal in terms of business. It took away a lot of our asset values. We are a country rich in gas and coal and oil and lots of other things, and there was tremendous penalty for using it. It hurt our businesses. According to some estimates, we could have had to close businesses to qualify by 2025, whereas as an example, china, by 2030, they dont kick in until 2030. Russia, someplace in the mid1990s. Their standard. Never a good standard, because that was a dirty standard for the environment. It treated the United States very unfairly, and, frankly, its an agreement i have no problem with, but i had a problem with the agreement they signedsas usual, they made a bad deal. We could conceivably go back in. But i say this, we are very strong on the environment. I feel very strongly about the environment. Our epa and epa commissioners are very, very powerful in the sense that they want to have clean water, clean air, but we also want businesses that can compete. And the paris accord really would have taken away our competitive edge, and were not going to let that happen. Im not going to let it happen. [ inaudible ] as we talked about, during this because we have strict regulations to which our paris targets. That means that we have very strong policies for environmental friendly and Climate Friendly technologies in which its a part of why the United States now has a surplus in the economy. So should never miss up on a Good Opportunity with Good Environmental standards. One of the great assets of norway is a thing called water. They have tremendous hydropower. Tremendous. In fact, most of your energy, electricity, is produced by hydro. I wish wed do some of the hydro power is fantastic and its a great energy that you have. Thank you. A great honor. Thank you. [ inaudible ]. Thank you very much. All right. A shouted question at the end we didnt hear and the president didnt answer. That is the president and the Prime Minister of norway just wrapping up. Hal Hallie Jackson was just standing up. The president said something i didnt guess he would say. Saying hill ray was for windmills. Admitted with collusion with the russians but that it was with the democrats. Mentioned Hillary Clinton many times in the conversation. He too two questions from u. S. Based reporters both from conservative outlets, Washington Examiner and fox. John asked him a challenging question about being interviewed by Robert Mueller, how that would go and the president said there was no collusion. Must have said that 15 times in his one answer. Anyway, the point, we got something in out of it. Peter alexander is standing by with more. It wasnt doesnt rank among the crazier py eier press confe. Real questions and some answers. Reporter thats right, ali. The president called on two conservative outlets, the wa Washington Examiner and fox news. And whether he would sit down under oath with the special counsel, the president deflected. Repeating what he said over the course of the last many months. That there is no collusion. Om said well see in terms of willing ins to sit down with Robert Mueller. Based on the fact theres been no collusion, there would likely not even be the need to sit down for an interview. Talking about the question yelled at the president as he walked out. One of the questions yelled to him was, is it Robert Mueller and his time right now trying to determine whether or not there was ka collusion before you can make that statement . Declaratively right now. One of e weres id like answers to that didnt get asked today includes specifically on immigration. Path to citizenship. The president said he would sign anything that landed on his lap. Would he, does he support a path to citizenship . We dont know the answer. And also tweeted yesterday something that raised eyebrows. Complaining about the greatest single witch lundt huntwitchh that goes on. The question, what exactly is he calling on republicans to do to end the russia investigation now . That question, ali, among others that remain unanswered at this time. Peter, the Prime Minister of norway i think did a good job of bobbing and weaving around questions that were going to get contentio contentious, including the United States has a trade surplus with norway. The idea of the Paris Agreement, questions asked that were meant to cause some conflict and didnt end up doing so. Reporter i think thats right. The other questions that could have been posed to her are interesting. Norway played host to the oslo. The issue of jerusalem. The president declaring it the capital is something thats controversial worldwide. What is norways position on that . Does that hurt or help . She was savvy. The way she answered the questions. The president smiled as she answered those things deflecting saying the u. S. Is entitled to address its own issues as seen fit. Did a good job. You think up the really good questions. Reporter we try. Peter alexander at the white house. And clint watts, Nbc News National Security analyst, senior fellow at the Research Institute and special agent. And robert wray, and joseph stiglitz, Nobel Laureate watching the show with me. In talking about the wall, the president looking for an example how successful it can be cited israel. Not everybodys first choice of solving the wall. Not talking about a wall that fixes everything. Interesting after the big the public negotiation that we saw yesterday in the white house. All of this talk about possible deals. New positions. The president went back to what hes always said. He wants the border wall. Struck me testing, one, reference to the daca problems. Been around a long time. Which he calls it. A problem he created by ending daca. And two, seems to waver back and forth between a landsoff position. Ill sign whatever bill they bring. Like you better have a wall. And the thing, tell you this. Many people in the Immigration Rights and Reform Community are very worried. They were heartened by this recent Court Decision saying that the daca program can stay in place for now, but are worried about it. They know this type of pushback from the judiciary, this is like a button, a trigger for trump. Makes him angry. And tweets about it all the time. Blow up any type of negotiations. Right. One great concern we have. Whatever daca was, it did not have the urgency of doing something until President Trump decided that theyve got until march to fix it . Right. Arbitrary lawsuit, deadline. He created this problem. And now in a sense a pushing it back on congress saying, you fix this. The other danger with the lawsuit, as this drags on it could lessen the sense of urgency of that march 5th deadline. People think, we have more time because of this court ruling. Clint, there was a lot of talk about collusion. Some quite surprising. The president misses no opportunity to either bring Hillary Clinton into this thing or to talk about the democrats. But in the end, this last few days has been very busy with information thats come out. The fusion gps. The report from democrats saying we havent solved the problem at hand. The president consistently denying anything to do with collusion is really a bigger problem than trump and collusion. Its about the country and democracy. Right. About acknowledging we have a problem. We cannot move forward without leadership. Ultimately, slowing this down and from all accounts, cant mention the word russia in front of the president without his losing his top. How can you deal with this information going around the world now by russia and other its a real problem. If you cant take the first step forward . And its a problem you lead by bringing civil site together. The way the European Countries, great to have norway there. The purp peen countries handled it largely by educating and informing your public. You have to bring them the problem. Italy has a course. They teach how to spot, identify fake news. The swedish have been great about insulating their country against russian disinformation. We cant do that as a country something you know a lot about is that people, the top 20 news stories on facebook that were fake got more views in the 2016 election than the top 20 news stories that were real. So the reality is that this, a lot of people come on my show. Say you cant prove a single vote was changed. Thats not really the issue just yet. Its the minds changed, the influences on people we dont even know are happening through lies. Right. The more you see something, the more likely to believe it. Such a factor with social media. Social bot, such a level. The first thing you see, what you tend to deleave. Hard to refute that. Through volume and repetition creates a distorted landscape. If you know how to manipulate, like the russians do well, you can bush it to your advantage. We have to make the public aware. Joseph stiglitz, expert in all things to do with the economy. Globalization and while there was no particular question on it, the paris accord question is a discussion of globalization, because the president has turned the paris accord and climate, combating Climate Change in general into something that is meant to represent an attack on working americans. Done it with some success. Talks about, i care about the climate, but this was going to cost us too much money. Yeah. The Climate Change Paris Agreement was addressing a global problem that you know, molecules of carbon, they dont carry passwords, dont know when they go leave the United States and go and pollute the world. Right. This was a remarkable agreement. Every country in the world except syria has now signed it, except now, the United States threatens to leave. And, of course, in any historic negotiation, you compromise. Remarkable about the Paris Agreement was that each country voluntarily said, this is what i think that we can do. And it was based on the realization by most countries, including the United States at the time, that a Green Economy is a good economy. That is to say, it will create jobs. The president has his head stuck 50 years ago. I was wondering where you were going with that wondering if i had to hit the blue button. Havent had to do that yet. The point is, we now have more renewable jobs than we have in coal. Coal is a dying industry. Why do you want to try to do something about something that is inevitably going to die . Those coal miners have black lung diseases. Its not a pleasant job. Its a hard job. Yet we are creating a new industry and those who are in that industry would be better off. Unfortunately with trump in the white house wei are not taking leadership in this area. I want to just go to the house. I think this is on the floor of the house. Ask my executive sorry. Right. Chairman is talking about immigration, the immigration bill House Republicans are putting forward. Lets listen. What the previous president did was not constitutional from our view and needs to be a legislative solution and were giving them the opportunity every three years for eternity legal status here. Be able to work, go to school, travel, and take the existing paths we have in our system to citizenship. Not go ahead of anything else. Wurnt problem is two years now. Right. The permits look like now three Years Renewable indefinitely. Touch back correct. For any of the others categories . Correct. But they would be able to travel outside of the United States and return to the United States in this status without any difficulty. Thank you. Yeah. Mentioned house leadership on this but a number of the provisions in the bill are outside of the scope that was established for negotiations at the white house yesterday. Theyre all within the four pillar scope. The four pillars daca, border security, chain migration and every one of the sanctuary cities. Border security, case law, all issues needed for border security. My question, upstairs right now meeting with democrats believe he is pushing for this bill . He is pushing for the four things that were greed tagreed. If you look at what the secretary of homeland security, ms. Nielsen distributed yesterday, youll find all of these things on the list with the exception of guest worker, which is there because of a mandatory in the bill and the two have to go together. Wokking on this for four months and happening in parallel. Time touches to introduce it today and in parallel went to the meeting yesterday. We look forward to being a part of the process. And its important to know you need the house and senate to pass legislation. If you want the house to pass legislation, the deals with the daca population, you have to have conservatives and moderates in the republican conference come together and work on this bim. This is the only way bill that unify the conference, get us to a majority and get us through 218 of the conference to support this. You had yesterday people as far wide and bruce polec when people on other extreme of the conference saying this is a good solution. If we want to unify the republican conference and unify the house of representatives, this is something that we were do. This bill can pass the senate, do you think . I believe when the senate understands. Especially nine senators that are in red states, that the people in their states actually want border security, before giving any kind of benefits to the daca population. I think we can get nine senators to agree to this. Absolutely. Two questions. One, i take it at this point you were not planning on being involved in bipartisan talks on the house side and no. We are. We lp definitely be involved in bipartisan talks. The talks initiated at the white house yesterday are both bipartisan and bicameral. The leader is meeting with the leader in, on the, the whip on the democratic side and the leader and the whip in the senate on a schedule for those negotiations to continue. And then on the first immigration whats going on these are House Republican whose came up with their own bill to deal with immigration within the four pillars that were discussed yesterday. That is dealing with daca, border security, chain migration and the visa lottery. Separately, house and Senate Republicans and democrats are meeting to try and carve out something else. This is democracy at work the way it goes these days. People just come up with their own bills and something will happen. Clint watts is with me. Is jonathan i want to check if hes go to jonathan a second to help make sense of this, jonathan. Still have my panel with knee. With me. I dont really get it. Ill hearing were close on a deal. They figured out, got rid of a bunch of stuff and focusing on four things calling it kp ing i comprehensive Immigration Reform. Its not. Its four things theyre dealing with. Whats going on in nyour opinio here . A bunch of different groups working on immigration policies and trying to compete to be the one that gets picked up. The most serious negotiation so far has been through a bipartisan set of senators. Anything thats going to Pass Congress is going to need 60 votes in the senate. Have to have democrats and republicans onboard with it. And ultimately, within that group youve got senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina senator dig durbin of illinois, are very close to striking their own deal. The question, will everybody else accept that kind of a deal . We heard from the president today again essentially, what he said yesterday was, hell sign anything that gets to his desk as long as it includes the washington. I think right now weve got a bunch of different groups trying to kpeept, but ultimately watch that Bipartisan Group of senators. Do my hair anyway you want, as long as its bald. What do you think is likely to come out of this, ronald . I hear bipartisan, i think something might happening. Keeping d ing drv ing d. R. E. A. M economically good for america. Right. Weing about a deal for daca, renewable three years Going Forward. Travel and infinitum. We did not hear a path to citizenship. Its keeping them sort of in that secondclass status. That for people of the Immigration Reform movement, thats a nonstarter. Talking about a subclass of people Going Forward a nonstarter getting closer to march 5th, when these people will be deported . I think it is. Theyre pushing for very hard is number one, a path to citizenship. The other thing they talked about here. Discussed it briefly. Touchened on comprehensive by definition through multiple president ial administrations, comprehensive Immigration Reform includes a path to citizenship. Now, under the Trump Administration, comprehensive Immigration Reform seems to mean border security, chain migration did not fall through the trap calling it some comprehensive Immigration Reform. Goodlatte has a long history as an immigration hardliner, hard right on immigration. This could be an opening salvo on open for negotiation on immigration or this could just be firm demands. Joseph, as countries develop and their gdp gets higher, few people have fewer children. America needs immigrants. If you were picking a pile of immigrants, these daca people are either educated or working. They pay taxes. Cant have committed a felony. They have to do all these things you cant demand of anybody else in america. Its absolutely foolish that were even having this discussion. They really this is the only country most of them know. Right. And what we are doing has International Implications because not only is it weak for our economy. Were demonstrating a level of the inhumaneness by expelling them that one of the strengths of america, talking about our military power, but everybody agrees our soft power has been the real source of our strength. And when you act in an inhumane way, you really weaken our soft power. Your influence around the world. Thanks for being with me through the press conference. Its been a great discussion on a lot of different things. Clinton watts, earl and joseph stiglitz. The surprising exit of steve bannon from breitbart came fast and furious after his comments in fire and fury. Coming up, how breitbart readers are responding and why they say bannon is needed more than ever during this immigration debate. I have type 2 diabetes. Settling today at 63. 57 if you want to pick up a barrel and take it home. That is the highest price since december of 2014. Were now within a few bucks of the highs from 2014. Thats a big deal. The bannon era is over at breitbart because steve bannon wants to stay in politics, not in media. Bannon was told to choose politics or breitbart. His ouster comes a week since the salacious fire and fury dropped and we learned bannons true views of trump. It does not seem to be the biggest concern for the breitbart faithful. They are more worried about the bipartisan meeting yesterday on immigration. Listen to these callers on Breitbart News daily this morning. First impression of that meeting yesterday is flat out betrayal for the voters that put him in office. I think of it as a swamp fest at the white house yesterday. Whether he perceived that to be michael. Whether he proceeds that to be schumer or mcconnell or whoever. Hes done it to himself if he messes up on this one. Im joined again by Jonathan Allen who covers National Politics for us. Havent heard a lot from steve bannon. Hes usually out there, combative, but hes lost a lot of his allies and is laying low. Sure. Hes been isolated by himself within the Republican Party and you see, you know, what the white house was certainly fearful of at this point when the president is trying to negotiate on immigration. Steve bannon commanding breitbart and its listeners and readers against any sort of immigration deal. He doesnt have to do with that. The president doesnt have to worry about that right now because bannon has been so diminished. This country runs the gam ot. You have people who, like me, think immigration is fantastic because i wouldnt be here without it. But on the other hand, this we forget how big an issue it is to the far right. Immigration is to the far right and thats what we were hearing in some of these callers. People on breitbart who didnt like steve bannon and are glad hes gone but a lot of people to whom immigration is the single Biggest Issue or one of. Right. Were finding out, what we always knew but at least being treated to another education and it is that steve bannon represents a point of view within the Republican Party that overlaps strongly with the president s base and certainly a big part of his base, a big part of the tea party movement, big part of conservative republicans over the last many years has been this very hard line antiimmigration, certainly antiillegal immigration and in some cases more than tharkt, a core thats sustained trump and loyal to him and now is worried as those callers said, backtrack on what he said on the campaign trail . What happens to steve bannon after this . Does he ride out to the sunset or back somewhere else . I think hell look for another platform to be the guardian of trumpism. The ideological underpinnings of the trump base. Whether or not hes able to get funded and use a megaphone, theres certainly a disconcerted trump base out there right now that is perhaps willing to listen to somebody who says the president is in apostate to trumpism. Thanks very much, Jonathan Allen. Nbc news. Coms National Political reporter. And that brings this busy hour to an end for me. Ill see you back here tomorrow at 11 00 a. M. With Stephanie Ruhle and then again at 3 00 p. M. Eastern. Find me all over social media. Thank you for watching. Deadline white house with Nicolle Wallace starts right now. Hi, everyone. Its 4 00 in new york. Seems sneaky Dianne Feinstein who released the transcripts from the founders of the firm behind the dossier in the interest of transparency and to stem the Smear Campaign against the fbi is getting under Donald Trumps skin. Or at the very list, earning herself a nickname. The president using his executive time this morning to tweet this. The fact that sneaky Dianne Feinstein who has on a number of occasions stated that collusion between trump russia has not been found would release testimony in such an underhanded, and possibly illegal way, totally without authorization, is a disgrace. Must have tough primary. And on day two of the white housesed effort to show a president hard at work doing normal president ial stuff, the president reupped the witch hunt in another tweet dispatched during executive time. The single greatest witch hunt in American History continues. There was no collusion. Everybody,
