Foundation for an eventual mission to mars and perhaps some day to many worlds beyond. This directive will ensure americas Space Program once again leads and inspires all of humanity. The pioneer spirit is always to find america and were picking that up in many other fields. I think you see that. I think its obvious. All you have to do is look at whats happening with the markets and all of the great things that are happening. Were leading in many different fields again, and it will get more and more obvious as you go along. After braving the vast unknown and discovering the new world, our forefathers did not only merely sail home and in some cases never to return, they stayed. They explored. They built. They guided. And through that pioneering spirit, they imagined all of the possibilities that few dared to dream. Today the same spirit beckons us to begin new journeys of exploration and discovery, to lift our eyes all the way up to the heavens and once again imagine the possibilities waiting in those big, beautiful stars. If we dare to dream big, and thats what our country is doing again. Were dreaming big. This is a a giant step towards that inspiring future, and towards reclaiming americas proud destiny in space, and space has so much to do with so many other applications, including a military application. So we are the leader and were going to stay the leader and were going to increase it many fold. Id like to invite Vice President pence, if he would, to say a few words. Hes been leading this for me, and i appreciate it. Mr. Vice president. Mr. President , thank you. Thaunkd f thank you for your leadership and for the honor to be here today. Momentous occasion in the history of American Space exploration. To all the extraordinary leaders gathered with us today, to members of congress and the pioneers of Space Exploration who are gathered here, we thank you, and we thank you for all youve done to serve our nation and expand the horizons of Human Knowledge and advance American Leadership in outer space. Mr. President , in signing this space policy directive, you are ensuring that america will lead in space once again. To guide this new era of American Space leadership, President Trump has relaunched the National Space council and at the councils inaugural meeting in october we unanimously approved a recommendation to instruct nasa to return american astronauts to the moon. And from there to lay a foundation for a mission to mars. Todays action by President Trump makes that recommendation official National Policy for the United States of america. As everyone here knows, establishing a renewed american presence on the moon is vital to achieve our strategic objectives and the objectives outlined by our National Space council. In pursuing these objectives, mr. President , we will, as you said, enhance our National Security and our capacity to provide for the common defense of the people of the United States of america. We will also spur innovation as the Space Program happen always done, mr. President. You reflected on a often and well see jobs created we couldnt even imagine that could be created today. Well also ensure lastly that the rules and values of Space Exploration are written with American Leadership and american values. Mr. President , youve said that the pioneer spirit has always defined america. And by your action today, with this clear vision, returning americans to the moon, preparing to lead to mars and beyond, you are ensuring, mr. President , that america will lead in space in the future and for generations to come. And i thank you for the honor of being a part of this. This is very exciting and very important for our country. And it also happens to be jobs. Jobs. And we love jobs, too. Right . Congratulations. [ applause ] thank you, everybody. Thank you very much. Good. I like it. Thank you very much, everybody. Thank you. President trump here concluding an event signing a new space policy directive makes it the official policy of the were listening to make sure there arent shouted question, but right now he is shaking hands as he exits the room, but, again, this directive making it official u. S. Policy that astronauts should go back to the moon with the goal of eventually having a mission to mars. You can see wilbur ross, commerce secretary in the foreground, senator bill nelson of florida in the room a democrat, very important industry for his home state of florida, but it has been a very busy day at the white house today. Last hour White House Press secretary Sarah Huckabee sanders wrapping up her Daily Briefing where she covered a number of topics including today attempted terror attack in new york city and sort of covered eig allegations of Sexual Misconduct against President Trump. Two of the women who accused the president will tuk me later on in the show. I want to start with nbcs jeff bennett, following the latest from the white house this afternoon. Jeff, Sarah Huckabee sanders sort of addressed some of these accusations of Sexual Misconduct against the president , but that briefing was quite something. What can you tell us about what happened . Reporter you know, kasie, with the three women reviving their allegations of Sexual Misconduct against President Trump, Sarah Huckabee sanders went back to the white house line. Denied the ak kwoccusatiaccusat discrediting the suspects saying the timing was questionable. Look, the president addressed these accusations directly and denied all of these allegations, and this took place long before he was elected to be president , and the people of this country had a decisive election, supported President Trump and we feel like these allegations have been answered through that process. Reporter you heard her say some of the allegations took place long before the president is elected. That is actually not the case. Some of the alleged misconduct actually took place a few years ago. These women say. The bottom line here, the white house says that when the American People elected President Trump, they knew about these allegations and that should put this to rest. Sarah seemed very reluctant to tat ought al, pressed about her personal experiences and didnt seem to want to take any followup questions. Was that unusual . Reporter it is unusual in the sense generally during the press briefing, when she calls into reporters, reporters get two questions, sometimes more. Today you saw her say out front he was just taking one question we are report around try to move around the room. A reporter pressed her own experience, she said shes there to speak on behalf of the president as are all White House Press secretaries and reluctant to share her personal experience. One gets the sense that she knew she would have to field these questions today and was prepared for it. Kasie . Jeff bennett at the white house. Thanks. Very appreciate it. Later on in the hour, joined by two rim referenced in that White House Press briefing accusing President Trump of Sexual Misconduct. Stay tuned noor. Meanwhile, President Trump is making a lastminute pitch for Alabama Senate candidate roy moore. Less than 24 hours before voters head to the polls. This robocall went out this morning. Roy moore is the guy we need to pass our make America Great again agenda. Roy is a conservative who will help me steer this country back on track after eight years of the obama disaster. Get out and vote for roy moore. But hes not the only president jumping in to the race. Nbc news has learned that former president barack obama has record add robocall for democrat doug jones. Just going to be rolled out later today. Bring in nbcs Vaughn Hilliard on the ground in alabama. Alabamas newest resident and National Correspondent for nbc news, steve kornacki. Thank you both. Great to see you. Steve, can you walk us through, i was somewhat amused to see doug jones point to nick saban and say, ask him what he thinks of the polls and let me know, the College Football polls. What do you know from lookingality data with have about the state of the. Reporter a rule of alabamas nick saban. One has moore up, one jones up, one a tie. Average together every poll out there you come up with roy moore about a 2. 5 point advantage over doug jones, just averaging everything together, for what that worth. Definitely the closest senate race alabamas had in a generation and looks like the kind of race if a democrats ever going to win alabama sort had has to be this time if it is going to happen, two keys basically. What it was in the president ial election. Clinton versus trump. See all the red. Typically what a race looks like in alabama. Landslide for republicans. Two keys for the democrats, jones here. Number one, the blue counties you see, what do you have . Largely black counties. Typically very democratic. The question here is going to be turnout. When you talk about the barack obama robocalls, youre looking at how high can turnout get here and large black population in birmingham, Jefferson County. The only other county reliably democratic. One of the two keys for democrats. High black turnout and in a state like this, flip tradition white voters. Where do democrats look to do that . A key type of republican here tends to be more suburban, college educated, actualturaly moderate. Places to keep in mind, looking at these all night tomorrow. Look around huntsville, madison county, around there. Look in Jefferson County around birmingham but hearing this name a lot tomorrow. Shelby county right outside of birmingham. Thats a key one there. Key traditionally republican countly jones folks think they make inroads and the southern part of the state, mobile and baldwin county, traditionally especially baldwin, a republican bastion, but is it the type of republican who is allergic to somebody like roy moore . That has to happen if doug jones is going to win this thing, kasie. Steve, thanks. Vaughn hilliard what are you seeing from your Vantage Point on the ground . Roy moore hasnt really been out on the campaign trail. What are you hearing from the candidates are and voters at this point . Reporter roy moore, youre not hearing much from roy moore. Hasnt been on the campaign trail since tuesday but will appear here in midland city tonight alongside strategist steve bannon. Midland city is near dothan. Look at the three counties around here. These places went 75 for donald trump one year ago. Roy moore is a candidate youre used to you korbered enough senate campaigns. The weekend before, theyre shoulder to shoulder, going door to door, making phone calls, meeting with volunteers. Roy moore was nowhere to the seen this weekend. He did talk with what were calling pro or more media friendly outlets. Since the news came out, he hasnt talked with the media since then. One of the more friendly Media Outlets that came out this weekend. Ive known a lot of people throughout my life, but these allegations are completely false. I did not date underage women. I did not molest anyone. Right. So the so these allegations are false. Reporter kasie, a candidate continues to proper gate this is a scheme, a conspiracy against him. Trying to galvanize support off of these denials, painting himself as a victim. I note, one other more friendly media outlet he spoke with, here today, a 12yearold just posted online this afternoon. Kasie . Interesting choice. Vaughn hilliard and steve kornacki, thank you both. Appreciate it. And i want to bring in now ja john hammondry, producer of aol. Coms wreckenalabama. You know the ins and outs of alabama politics in a way weve just begun to learn in the past few weeks. Let me play for you something that alabama senator richard shelby, your senior senator said yesterday. I couldnt vote for roy moore. I didnt vote for roy moore. Theres a time, we tall itcall tipping point. I think so many allegations, so many cuts, so many drip, drip, drip. When it got to the 14yearold story, that was enough for me. What is senator shelbys decision to step out there into the sunday show spotlight bright this election and tell you about where he stands, the state of this election . And do you think it will make a difference . I dont know if it will make a difference, but you cant give him enough credit. This is a very unprecedented stance for a republican senator to come out and say, hes not voting for the republican candidate for senate in alabama. He sorry. Im hearing myself back in the peer piece here. He hes a very popular senator here in alabama. He won last year, i think, by about 60 points, and so what he says will carry a lot of weight, particularly with the businessminded republicans here in the birmingham area and in north alabama. I think senator shelby has gone above and beyond trying to recruit business to the state and i think people will listen to him when he says, in an election of roy moore would prohibit our ability to bring in auto manufacturing jobs or military contracts or things like that. I want to ask you about this robocall that president obama recorded. Theres been back and forth. Last i saw in reporting, they werent sure the Jones Campaign would use it. Is it a positive or negative in that net for president obama to put his finger on the scale in this race . Probably a wash. You know if it helps bring out more black voters, then thats a positive thing for the doug Jones Campaign. There would be some people who would say maybe it will cause some white voters to stay home or not cross over to vote for doug jones, but those voters are probably going to stick buy moore anyways. I cant imagine somebody was thinking, oh, im going vote for jones and now that a former president endorsed him, pull my support. So i would say its probably a wash. If were talking about africanamerican turnout, though. I think that may play into that, and another piece of information weve gotten today is a statement from former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice who grew up in birmingham, alabama. She writes, i know alabamians need an independent voice in washington but we must insist our representatives are digni dignifi dignified, decent of the values we hold dear. Did not put roy moores name in that statement but the message seems clear. Is she somebody people in birmingham and across the state will hear . I think so. Her statement not at strong as shelby, but she taps into the same republican mindset shelby was trying to speak to. People in birmingham have often said and around the state have said, if somebody were to come back and run for elected office in alabama, shes a frontrunner. People really like her a lot, respect what she did in the bush administration. They also liked they served on the committee in College Football and returns a lot to go to alabama football games. I think she does speak to moderate republicans. I dont know i honestly cant tell you how twhawell that play increasing black turnout. President obamas robocall will probe have a bigger role than her statement. You have a busy 48 or so hours coming up. Thanks for your time. Appreciate it. Thank you. And up next new details on the 27yearold man accused of detonating a fwhbomb in a new york city subway. Live outside his home after the break. First, moments ago the white house spoke about the suspect and immigration policy. The department of Homeland Security confirmed that the suspect was admitted to the United States after presenting a passport displaying an f43 family immigrant visa in 2011 and so we know that the president s policy calls for an end to chain migration which is what this individual came to the United States through, and if his policy had been in place, then a attacker would not have been allowed to come into the country. We are following the latest on todays attempted terror attack near new york citys times square during this mornings rush hour commute. Police identified the suss spent as 27yearosuspect as a 27yea lives in brooklyn, new york and is a bangladeshi heritage. The evidence thus far and th. This is a person living in new york, car service, cab service driver, who was annoyed, irritated, by our political position, or sympathetic to isis, et cetera. This video purchase importantedly shows the explosion inside the busy underground tunnel near the times square subway station and the Port Authority bus terminal. We should note none of todays injures are considering life threatens. For more, i want to brick in Chris Jansing outside the bus terminal and ron allen outside the suspects home in brooklyn. Chris, were learning more what the device was made out of and what the suspect may have been interested in . Reporter yes. You mentioned lowtech. Others describe it as amateurish. The Investigative Unit learned among the components of it a pipe, five inches long, a 9 volt battery, Christmas Lights and a match. That gives you an idea of the kind of everyday items that Governor Cuomo indicated, the kind of information to put that kind of bomb together that could be found on the internet. This is somebody who came here. He walked underneath where i am standing in respect is this tunnel that connects 7th and 8th avenue and then he went to detonate the bomb. Again, according to the Governor Cuomo, it only partially detonated. The chemicals ignited but the pipe, again, that pipe that was strapped to him, very simply with velcro and ties, did not go off. He right now is in Police Custody listed in serious condition, but can you just imagine underground, at rush hour. One of the busiest times of year because its not just commuters but also tourists. The Holiday Season has begun and you see people with suitcases all over the place. Hotels largely full. It filled with smoke and commuters virtually ran for their lives. Having said that, it was remarkable how quickly this city got back to normal. Within 90 minutes there was a press conference. There were assurances that everyone that they believe they had the one person involved, that they were not concerned and within 4. 5 hours, as you can see live behind me, although we still see a Police Bomb Squad truck, the number of Police Vehicles is now almost outnumbered by the number of media vehicles that are here. Initially when i came onscene afterwards, there were scores of local, state, federal officials, bombsniffing dogs, but apparently most of what you see at the Port Authority behind me which is incredibly busy, anytime of year, particularly this time of year, is open, and back to business. You can take a bus out of here just as you could before this happened. This morning, bill de blasio said, thank god he did not achieve his ultimate goal. People ive talked to, both locals and tourists have said to me, this is the new normal, and they seem to accept it. Kasie . Chris, thanks. Ron allen, youre outside his home, and youve talked to some of his neighbors, i understand . What have you learned about him over the past few hours . Reporter well, case, he seemed to be a person not a lot of people knew. Tell you also about this neighborhood. Surprising, a nice mixed neighborhood. There are, a big jewish and Muslim Community here. One of new yorks, brooklyns main thorough fairs and still a very active crime investigation, heavy police presence. You can see a bomb squad truck here. We think there is a possibility that he built the device here in this apartment building. Theyve been going through it. There are a number of relatives we believe he lived with over a period of time. Earlier today there were a couple people escorted out by police. A woman and a man in a wheelchair. They may be relatives. They may be people with nmore information. Again, a very, very busy scene here. One of the neighbors we spoke to earlier, what was said about the suspect and the family. I dont know anything about them. I dont see them really. I see them come in and out. A bagel store goes to every now and then. He blocked the driveway. Thats about it. My tenant next door said he heard a lot of screaming and yelling in the house. Somebody was arguing in the house, we dont know really what it was. Do you nowhere he works . Delivery. A little taxicab. Reporter delivery thing or taxi licenses, the ability to drive a taxi in new york city. Again, that neighbor, others we talked to, said they really kept a very low profile. Friendly people for the most part. The suspect they described as a religious man had a full beard at times. That doesnt seem to be what he looked like when this all happened, however. He may have been in this neighborhood here for about a year or so. Again, investigators carrying a lot of material out of the building trying to get down to the bottom of this guys life, find out everything they possibly can about him. Back to you. Thank you both so much. Appreciate it. For more now i want to bring in clint watts, nbc news National Security analyst and former fbi special agent. Clint, great to see you. Authorities say this is an improvised lowtech explosive device. It didnt cause too much damage. Is this basically an amateur at work . And what do you see in all these details . The first thing you look at in an investigation like this is connections, globally or locally, to run down whether this individual had contact with the terror group. So far, none emerged. You start to imagine, then, essentially an unaffiliated inspired attacker who learned how to do it on his own. Used the internet or another respores and tr resource. It wasnt sophisticated. Didnt go off the way he thought and didnt have the impact. Were lucky he wasnt an experienced bombmaker or this could have been much worse. Is this why he was able to get this far . Fly under the radar . Because he was not sophisticated . Usually if these are sophisticated bombmakers, he would do rehearsals, test runs. Often times, you know, those tips and leads we look for. They also look for bomb components, or those actual manufactured equipment and items you need to put together a bomb. There was no evidence, at least to this point, of that being out there. That being said, weve seen people successfully do this. And what has been interesting is to contrast this with other terror attacks. The most deadly largely from those that acquire weapons legally. This gentleman did not try to do that. Weve been very lucky today in this. Smub unaffiliated, untrained and largely unsuccessful with this attack. Bill de blasio, the mayor, said he acted largely alone, by himself. Are the facts as you see them consistent with that assessment . For sure. Theres no indication so far, and what you always look for is either a claim from the Islamic State. We havent had one yet but imagine we will. I dont expect this will be somebody directly connected to the Islamic State central headquarters and were worried about the contagion effect. Copycatters, or known associates to him. No indication of that yet and thats a good sign. Whenever he have attacks like that, it wasnt that successful and hopefully wont inspire many more to follow his lead. A reminder to everyone out there. If you see something, say something. Thats right. Clint watts, nbc news analyst and former special agent for the fbi. Thanks for your time. Up next, joined by two women accusing President Trump of Sexual Misconduct. Their stories and what theyre calling on congress to do up after the break. This, as list of Democratic Senators calling for trump to resign grows. First but after an electricl fire from faulty wiring, marys vintage clothing and designer shoe collection were ruined. The Metoo Movement made its way to the oval office. At least 16 women have accused President Trump of Sexual Misconduct. And now nikki haley, u. S. Ambassador to the united nations, is breaking from the administration somewhat with these comments. How do you think people shouldccusers of the president . The same thing, women who accuse anyone should be heard. They should be heard and dealt with. I think we heard from them prior to the election and any woman who felt violated on mistreated in any way have every right to speak up. Now at least four of the 16 women who accused President Trump of Sexual Misconduct say they Want Congress to open an investigation into the allegations they held a press Conference Today hosted by brave new film. Created a viral video that led to the women coming together today. This morning three accusers from that push appeareds on the today show. The incident fcandidate in a mie pageant said President Trump came back to look while they were getting dressed. And an event in trump tower back in 2005. The president denied all of these allegations of this sort in the past. Joining me, two of those women, Jessica Leeds and samantha hol v holvi. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I realize its a trying thing to relive over and over again. I want to get each of your reactions. Jessica, start with you, to the administrations statement on the allegations this hour. Ill show what you Sarah Huckabee sanders had to say and well talk about it on the other side. The president addressed these accusations directly and denied all of these allegations and this took place long before he was elected to be president , and the people of this country had a decisive election, supported President Trump and we feel like these allegations have been answered through that process. Jessica, your reaction to what Sarah Huckabee sanders had to say today . Well, i recognize that my story is very old, and i recognize that there are going to be people who are not going to believe me. Thats thats okay. But i think its amazing and needs to be noted that women who have experienced sexual aggression remember it in great detail. What they had on where it happened who it happened with and how they got out of it. They remember it vividly. So its not like im making this up. Im not making it up. It did happen. Insofar as trump calling us liars. I take umbrage to that, but thats his prerogative. When it comes to the claim that, well, this was this came out before the election, and it w was it was dismissed by his voters. I would point out that he won the election on the electoral electorals basis. Not on the popular vote, and i think if we could vote on it again today after the weinstein situation and some of the other people and their stories, if they came out, why, i think there would be a different outcome. Samantha, id like to hear as well what you thought of what Sarah Huckabee sanders had to say today, and then also this point that jessica was raising. Is it different now that this Metoo Movement has has, you know, burst into our mainstream culture, and do you think part of the reason for that is because President Trump got elected . You know, first of all, whenever he wants to call me a liar, well, im simply confirming what he bragged about on howard stern. He went on and bragged about going back stage into the dressing room and looking at all the women at miss usa. Im confirming that, yes, he did that, and it was as creepy as it sounds. And as far as, you know, your other questions, i would love to see this actually mean something. I feel last year when it came out i dont know if it came on deaf ears, ive had people thank me and that my story meant something to them, but a country as a whole, not enough women stood up to say, no. This behavior is unacceptable. I will not vote for you, and im hoping as more and more women come forward with their personal experiences with, you know, men at all levels, and people can relate to each other and were being open and honest about our experiences and hopefully this can make a difference in seeing us together, would i hope its more powerful and actually leads to change. We actually have that clip of howard stern talking with donald trump that you referenced. Im going to show it to our viewers. Ill tell you the funniest, im go backstage before a show, everyones getting dressed and ready and Everything Else and no men of anywhere and im allowed to go in, im the owner of the pageant and therefore im inspecting it. This speaks also to this issue of power embedded in sexual harassment. I mean, was that the experience that you felt . How did the power differential between you as the contestant and him as the owner play into the experience had you . I have just turned 20 years old, and so, you know, ive never ive never not been a strong, confident woman, but i was just like, im sure all over my face was just like, why are you back here . But he definitely had an air of he owned us. We were his property. I was not comfortable that. It was disgusting, i felt very dirty. He was part owner. Nbc was part owner and the head of nbc certainly wasnt back stage going into the dressing room. Jessica, i want to ask you what do you think is the best way to go forward with this . As weve seen media moguls, entertainment figures, famous chefs and now members of congress fall in the face of these accusations, there are people who are talking about a potential overreaction. What is the right process, do you think, for President Trump, considering the allegations that you and others have against him . What would get to the best outcome, in your view . Well, the problem is, the structure of his position in the first place. Theres nobody who bosses the president , except congress. And Congress Needs to get their act together and address these issues. So, yes. To address this issue. And address trumps his sexual aggression. There needs to be an investigation, whether congress has a committee or however they want to do it. They as a body need to get the courage to stand up and do the right thing. Thats what we think. Jessica leeds and samantha holvey, thanks for your time. I really appreciate it. Thank you. Up next, Sexual Misconduct leveled against the president. What possible outcomes could there be . What would happen if congress were to investigate . A lawyers opinion on that, up next. Thats it . Yeah. Everybody two seconds dear sebastian, after careful consideration of your application, it is with great pleasure that we offer our congratulations on your acceptance. Through the Tuition Assistance program, every day mcdonalds helps more people go to college. Its part of our commitment to being americas best first job. For her compassion and care. He spent decades fighting to give families a second chance. But to help others, they first had to protect themselves. I have afib. Even for a nurse, its complicated. And it puts me at higher risk of stroke. That would be devastating. I had to learn all i could to help protect myself. Once i got the facts, my doctor and i chose xarelto®. Xarelto®. To help keep me protected. Oncedaily xarelto®, a latestgeneration blood thinner. Significantly lowers the risk of stroke in people with afib not caused by a heart valve problem. It has similar effectiveness to warfarin. Xarelto® works differently. Warfarin interferes with at least 6 bloodclotting factors. Xarelto® is selective, targeting just one critical factor interacting with less of your bodys natural bloodclotting function. For afib patients wellmanaged on warfarin, there is limited information on how xarelto® compares in reducing the risk of stroke. Dont stop taking xarelto® without talking to your doctor, as this may increase risk of stroke. While taking, you may bruise more easily, or take longer for bleeding to stop. It may increase your risk of bleeding if you take certain medicines. Xarelto® can cause serious, and in rare cases, fatal bleeding. Get help right away for unexpected bleeding, unusual bruising, or tingling. If youve had spinal anesthesia, watch for back pain or any nerve or musclerelated signs or symptoms. Do not take xarelto® if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. Tell your doctor before all planned medical or dental procedures. And before starting xarelto®about any conditions, such as kidney, liver, or bleeding problems. Its important to learn all you can. To help protect yourself from a stroke. Talk to your doctor about xarelto®. Theres more to know™. The president , except congress. And Congress Needs to get their act together and address these issues. So, yes. To address this issue. And address trumps his sexual aggression. Theres needs to be an investigation, whether congress has a committee or however they want to do it. They as a body need to get the courage to stand up and do the right thing. Thats what we think. We just heard from two of the women accusing President Trump of Sexual Misconduct before he entered the oval office. To talk more about this i want to bring in annie carney, White House Reporter for politico and joseph cammarata, partner at shaken, cammarata and siegal p. C. , representing several women suing bill cosby for defamation. Annie, talk about this first. The briefing with Sarah Huckabee sanders was pretty contentious today on this topic. Refusing to take followingup yeses. One of those were about what played out at one of the debates where the Trump Campaign brought many of the accusers of bill clinton to the debate hall in something of a dramatic confrontation. They clearly are approaching these accusers completely differently, attempting to discredit them. Saying they are making completely false allegations. What is going on behind the scenes at the white house as they try grapple with these stories coming back into the public view . Theyre in a really awkward position that this Metoo Movement is sweeping every industry and the white house and donald trump are at the center of this. I think a big part of this is a reaction is the fact there were 16 women accusers in 2016 and donald trump got elected anyway. I dont think thats unrelated. Its a point that the white house repeats all the time as a reason why weve already dealt with this, but i dont think its unrelated to whats happening now. So i its unrelated to whats happening now. They want to stay out of the conversation. Donald trump has made it clear that he makes a differentiation between those who have admitted and those who have not. Roy moore and donald trump deny the allegations. And he seems to have staked out a position of i believe the man and Sarah Huckabee sanders just falls back on the position of we have dealt with this. We deny the the president denies these allegations, and well see. We see a break with nikki haleys comments today. For the most part the white house wants to stay out of this conversation. Its not a winning one for the president. But so far, also, i mean, hes kind of teflon so far. We havent seen it break his base or a change in attitude towards him because of this yet. Joseph camarata, you are working with seven women who have accused bill cosby of sexual crimes in some cases. What recourse do these women have against the president , if any. They do have recourse. One of the women, the victims, says the only recourse was congress. That they are the boss of the president , if you would. But theres a separation of powers in our system. But the great equalizer is a courtroom. She would have the be on the same footing as the president of the United States. She could hole him accountable before the bar of justice, before the court system. Rules apply to equally to him as they do to her. And so a courtroom is the proper forum for redress of these accusations. Yes, they could have happened a long time ago, fine. But its just recently hes called them a liar. If you call somebody a liar and youre not speaking the truth, you opened yourself up to a claim of defamation. They have that option. A courtroom provides a viable option for them, and he has to testify under oetath. Thats whats going on in the case of summer. She filed in state court which makes it more complicated. You should have filed it in federal court because the federal court has jurisdiction over the president and the filing in state court gave mr. Trump an out to try to say the state court doesnt have jurisdiction over the president. Annie, i want to go back to the politics of this. Weve seen democrats start to come out and call for the president s resignation in light of this. Senator gillibrand, jeff merkley, cory booker. Some have pointed out that one of the similarities among many of these names may be that they all are potentially interested in the democratic nomination in 2020 but it also seems to me that this follows, of course, last weeks news with al franken where they essentially demanded that their own house be cleaned and then now we see the flip side of that. They can make these additional demands. Whats your sense of where thats coming from or what they might accomplish with this . I think thats exactly right that were seeing why the democrats came out against franken last week so they can have a moment like this. So gillibrand can call the president to resign. Im look at her Statement Today and wondering, does she want to get a tweet reaction from donald trump attacking her that she thinks would ultimately hurt him . I think we have to look at it through the veil of 2020 and the president ial ambitions. But what remains to be seen is the moral high ground that the democrats are trying to regain by kicking out al franken over claims that are on the scale that were looking at on the low end. Is that politically astute . Is that going to get them anything . Donald trump won white women in 2016. Do women voters care about this . I think thats a question that remains to be seen if they made the right political calculation in booting senator franken. We wont know yet. Annie carney and Joseph Cammarota who represents seven of the women accusing bill cosby of defamation. I appreciate your time.
