Warfare. The message the indictment is sending to Vladimir Putin, now two days before the helsinki summit how this could change the approach for the meeting. This is the time for the president to stand up to america. A new day of protests in britain. Some people showing up at the president s golf club and booing him on the fairway. But we begin with new reaction from democrats on special counsel muellers latest indictment is all the pressure that the president needs to stand up to Vladimir Putin when he meets with the president on monday. This is what representative garamendi said earlier. This is not the time to ask. This is the time to ask putin right in the eye, saying you did it. Youre going to pay a price for that. Dont you mess with the American Election this time. Its time for him to stop hugging the russian bear. The russian bear is a dangerous bear. Its frankly time to punch the bear in the nose. Meanwhile, were also learning not only is the summit still on, but the finnish government said theyll hold a News Conference after the oneonone. Kelly odonnell is joining us from glasgow, scotland. Kelly, new details on what the president has been up to today . Reporter good day, alex. Sarah sanders is telling us that there is a plan between a joint press experience between president putin and President Trump, where journalists will have a chance to ask questions. And that will certainly about a highstakes motel f s moment fo president after hes had his meeting with putin. So that is something to look forward to on monday. Today, the president has been enjoying not so much the time between the meetings, but on the links. That is not protestfree. The president is stage at his tu turnbury property, one of the few that he owns here. And at least hearing the voices of protesters who have been able to make their way there. There have been other protests staged around the united kingdom. But some of the more ambitious, perhaps, found their way to the golf course. Today, earlier, the president went to twitter to make comments. Whats interesting hes not issuing an underlying issue on the attack on the democratic process instead, still litigating how it affects him. In part, the stories you heard about the 12 russians yesterday took place during the Obama Administration not the trump administration. Why didnt they do something about it. He goes on to say president obama was informed by the fbi in september, before the election. And he also said where is the dnc server, the Democratic National committee server, and why didnt the fbi take possession of it . That server, of course, is where some of the forensic material might be held. And the president has long been irritated by the fact that that was not part of the investigation. So, not talking about the threat to democracy. Not talking about the ongoing threat since we are just a few months away from the midterm elections. And not talking about how this would relate to his personal meeting with Vladimir Putin on monday. Instead, the president using twitter to litigate some issues of the past and to criticize the Obama Administration for not doing well. That is not going to sit well with a lot of lawmakers who see this as a very serious threat to democracy. Theyve been investigating it. Southwest the general public concerned about what happens in this set of elections coming up. Is russia still making the u. S. Vulnerable. President enjoying golf on a day off also saying hes taking calls getting ready for monday. Look forward for that conference, a subtle difference between the two, that Sarah Sanders says will be on tap for monday. Alex. Kelly odonnell, from a windy and looks like refreshing glasgow. Joi joining me, congressman, your reaction to the president s tweet this morning as to whos to blame for this meddling. What do you think . Theres no question, its directly put pu lly vladimir pu. He runs the gru, thats his espionage and intelligence unit. Trump should demand that the 12 indicted russians be turned over for judicial action and to have justice served. And if he doesnt do that, he ought to leave the summit. But we know what the summit is about, its about he and putin getting their business together in private. And their business is not the business of the people, its the business of donald trump, Donald Trumps family financially. And Donald Trumps efforts along with, and his campaign, no question about it, with the russian government and collusion to change the results of the election of 2016 by influencing peoples minds and thats what the russian gru did. And they did it for putin and trump. And putin and trump are such strong allies that is not our opposition, or our competitor. Thats our foe. Ive been with the russians just last week in berlin. They lie constantly. They deny they shot down hr17 over iraq. It is fake news it sounds like trump talk. Military and cyberwise to the baltic regions, the balkan regions, all other operations of europe, and putin should be standing with our european allies in opposition. Trump is the master of distraction. Hes a master of distraction. Of who are you speaking . Putin . No well, putin, too. Putins got a ph. D. Trumps just trying to learn. Look. Youve made some suggestions about the content. Conversation, while we cant verify them i dont know that we ever will verify what goes on between them. And its presumed that it will be just the two men themselves and interpreters in the first part of that meeting so well see what comes out of there. With regard to the indictment, does that answer any questions you have . Were blanks filled in for you . Well, it shows how good Robert Mueller and his staff are, to be able to go back and determine, the facts that they have, the cyber team is jut superb. To pick the individuals and what they did and why they did it, thats just amazing. Thats why its taken this long. Some of those people, its amazing to read on twitter and facebook, people are Trump Supporters well, you know, theyre innocent until proven guilty. All of a sudden, people on the russian side, theyre innocent until proven guilty. But when you have an indictment, if Robert Mueller, a hero in our nation. And a grand jury, american citizens that found probable cause that this happened. And these people jump immediately to the other side and say they have a presumption of innocence. Presumption is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt but probable cause is what the grand jury decides. Robert muellers team has gotten to the first step. That shows that the gru infiltrating, just like wat waterga watergate. They did it with a force. Not just an often the street watergate, they stole podestas and clintons information and used it to hurt and influence the election. One of my republican colleagues said well, obviously, the russians didnt want hillary to win. Thats how much they dislike hillary. In essence, theyre blaming hillary for what the russians did. No. Its amazing, alex, whats happened. Go ahead, sorry. Finish up. I just said its amazing how things have turned in this country. Were at a crucial time in this country. Weve been invaded by our enemy. And they are our enemy, russia. And they have influenced and i think determined who our president is. And theyve done it, and financially, theyve done it too. But this country is definitely at risk what is going to go on at helsinki is such a danger that nobody is going to be there to observe it. Well observe it later on in the meeting certainly, cabinet members and the like. But that said, theres been a lot of talk about roger stone. And i want to play for you what he said during an interview last night. He has said hes probably one of the unnamed americans mentioned in the dielindictment. Take a listen to this. I think its still unproven. Theres an enormous amount of forensic evidence based on the conclusion based on the download times, that there was no hack. The alleged hack material was downloaded to some kind of a portable drive. I dont know. What are you getting at . I dont know, thats woo id like to see at trial. Questioning that, that there was no hack . I mean, whats your reaction to that . Thats the same thing as saying it was a 400 pound man on a bed. This distraction, all which comes from what trump learned, you know, years ago, from roy kohn, who was a lawyer in new york, a despicable, despised man who was trumps alter ego and taught him a lot about lie, lie. And hes done it well. So has stone. The indictments on the americans who knew and are involved are going to come soon enough. And theyre going to suppose people to what the truth is of what has been the most massive con john ever perpetrated on this earth. Can i ask about President Trumps critics, many of whom are democrats and they say he should not be meeting with putin. So this meeting looks like its going to go forward, theres every indication that it will. Is there any acceptable outcome to this meeting for you . Well, there would be an acceptable outcome if putin would say, yes, i will turn over the 12 men who have been indicted. T would be acceptable if they agree to take change the syrian leadership. They need to find a way to get bashar out of power. Thats a dangerous situation. And the russians need to get out of crimea and stop the assault on the Ukrainian Government and they need to resolve the aggression. And theyve done the same thing with estonia. But the russians arent going to do any of that. They want sanctions relieved. Theyre not going to agree by the minsk agreements. We have two men, trump cant tell the truth and putin is smart enough not to tell the truth. Can i ask you sir, youre a strong proponent of indicting the president . Theres no question he said, russia if youre listen, please find the 30,000 emails. Right after that, the russians start to probe to get the emails. That night. Mueller probably has it. Robert mueller is a star. And he and his team, theyre one of the best teams going. Its like eliot ness going after al capone. And theyve got it. You can look at trumps conduct. He does not as trey gowdy said act like an innocent man. He does not. Because they know what they did. I saw a post by scalise yesterday, he basically admitted it, and he said, yes, were trying to show that strzok in the investigation from the beginning was biased, and because of that it should be thrown out. Thats what giuliani was saying, it was biased from the beginning and should be thrown out. Thats just not true. Theyre trying to destroy this investigation for the benefit of trump and for the benefit that they colluded with russia. That to me is treasonous. You can characterized the meeting your Committee Held with lisa page. You mentioned strzok more so than he was. What are your takeaways from the meeting . I wish i could tell you. I wasnt there. I had to come back to memphis. And i wasnt able to go to the meeting. I intend to call my Committee Members and see what happens. She did make it clear, apparently according to Sheila Jackson leigh that none of the bias influenced the actions. Thats the bottom line and thats what the Inspector General said. Democratic congressman steve cohen from tennessee, great to see you. Next, ill be speaking with former Campaign Aide sam nunnberg who said the indictments could lead to trumps impeachment. And then later denny heck of the intel committee. So what the president did put the pentagon in damage mode as to whether or not it res skon natu resonates in middle america. Fo. Its hepatitis c. Hep c can hide in the body for years without symptoms. Left untreated it can lead to liver damage, even liver cancer. The only way to know if you have hep c is to ask your Healthcare Provider for the simple blood test. If you have hep c, it can be cured. For us, its time to get tested. Its the only way to know for sure. Were being hurt very badly by the i would call it the witch hunt. I would call it the rigged witch hunt, after watch something of the little clips i didnt get to watch too much. Because im here. Its a different time zone, to put it mildly. But after watching the people, the man that was testifying yesterday, i call it the rigged witch hunt. Well, weve heard this before, the president glaring once again the Mueller Investigation is a witch hunt. This after 12 sweeping indictments of russian officers charged with infailtrating computers. And emails. Joining me now, courtney, always glad to see you. Lets talk about how the news of russia is disseminating itself. The reaction overall. What are you hearing in washington . Well, i think everyones looking towards helsinki and what is being discussed there. We got a little preview of president Trumps Press Conference in england yesterday. I think what theyre looking at out of helsinki, one of them is will President Trump really reinforce the unity of the Nato Alliance . Is he going to tell Vladimir Putin the Nato Alliance remains strong and nato will continue to participate in exercises, et cetera. And theres also a lot of interest whether hes going to talk about syria. Will President Trump put pressure on Vladimir Putin to exert his pressure in syria, and get iran to pull back from areas theyre pushing further towards. Right now this is moving closer towards iisrael. Theyre moving closer to europe. And allies that are worried about the stronger ground presence of iran and syria. And then, of course, everyone is watching to see what comes out of the russia election meddling. Is that actually going to be a big topic . It was the last one that President Trump answered when he was asked at the press conference yesterday, alex. Look, courtney, im curious why theres been no agenda of topics thats been shared. I understand maybe the russian meddling topic will be sensitive, even more awkward after the indictments. We know the president has addressed it before. But you mentioned syria. This is a topic that that ought to come up, should come up, why is it that were not getting a sense of what were going to talk about . Well, i was asked the same question a couple weeks ago, its an excellent agenda. Is it because one doesnt exist and President Trump just freewheels it . That may be. He also mentioned yesterday standing next to theresa may that theyre going to talk about other issues in the middle east. Well, what exactly is that that hes going to talk about with russia . It could be iraq, increasing pressure in iraq. And how its impacting the parliament and people of iraq. Or it could be other areas of the middle east that we just dont know. We dont really have a good sense of what theyre going to talk about. He mentioned Nuclear Proliferation as well. What is that going to look like . Vladimir putin, of course, laid out some of his newer technologies just a few weeks ago. The u. S. Gives a good sense of things theyre working towards in that arena. But is he talking about the u. S. Decreasing an arsenal so that russia does . Who knows. Only thing we know, its expected to run about four hours long or so. Im going to bring in john. Youre there in wisconsin. Talk about how the news of the russian indictment is resonating there. Or is it even resonating . Look. Its midjuly. Is the heartland listening, some of the states that helped to elect this president. Sure, i think theyre listening. You see the indictment of 12 russians especially on the eve of a summit with all of the controversies would be meeting with the leader of russia, people take notice. But youre right to ask the question, there is the reality that people tend to go into their camps. The critics of the president are aghast, horrified and mobilized. And then the president focusing more on the hearings thursday and friday which you mentioned a bit ago suggesting, as trump says, rigged and things like that. But what i will tell you, look, i am in wisconsin today. A couple weeks ago i was in berlin with some of the top experts in the world on cyber security. And what they said again and again and again is that Robert Muellers investigators have really gone to the heart of global questions about cyber security. Theyve interviewed people all over the world and theres a lot more coming. So, id be cautious about assuming that where were at right now is the end of the story. I think its the beginning of a very, very story about russian involvement with our election. Okay. So, john, i want to ask you, where do you feel the Tipping Point is for the American Public . One that tips towards fatigue . Just want this thing to jend or the other way around, theres an event that something hammers home a link to the russian business . Sure, i think you can go to the heart of the matter. Indicting 12 russians is a separate thing from tying the president to it. Obviously, his defenders will argument thats not the case. But if it is indeed true that Robert Mueller has hired some of the cutting edge globally and theyre traveling around the world to talk to folks. Theres a lot more coming here. And as it gets to some of the individuals who have been mentioned on the show and in the u. S. , i think thats where the Tipping Point comes. We do have deep divides in this country but there are Core Concepts of patriotism and security. And one of the things that i think will be a cuttingedge question is separate from all of the other discussions. It is, what will this congress and this president do to secure the 2018 and 2020 elections . Much of this discussion goes backwards there are big issues coming towards us. Well, i do want to look back to thursday with you, courtney, wr5rd to the preside with regard to the president meeting with the nato allies. I know how you reported how this put the pentagon in damage control mode . Can you explain what happened here and do you think the damage was controlled . We saw when President Trump came out swinging at that early breakfast wednesday morning and immediately started criticizing germany and other allies, much to everyones surprise. It seemed like and then it went to the end, that surprise press conference before he left brussels. He said everyone had come to agreement, there were billions and billions of dollars moved in. What we find out, my colleagues and my, carol lee and whether the u. S. Was going to maintain its Nato Alliance commitments that pentagon leadership, secretary mattis and others were telling their military leaders to reach out to their counterparts in some of these allies nationed. Saying, look, were committing to this alliance, just to reassure them after several days that probably caused some of the allies a little heartburn. And there were concerns with this helsinki meets and President Trump was going to sit there with putin and he starts criticizing. And they reaching out to make sure the allies knew this is still a commitment for the u. S. Military. John, can you give me a quick assessment to the president s trip to the uk so far and what you think the headline is going to be monday night or Tuesday Morning . Well, the head line monday night and Tuesday Morning obviously will be coming off what happens in helsinki. But in britain, its been chaos. The president gave an interview to the sun, where he ripped into Prime Minister theresa may. And on tape said things that knock up not his critics, but those that would be the most friendly to trump. So it was a very, very messy arrival. The protests have been massive. Its important to understand, american president s face protests. Its not uncommon. But in london yesterday, they were mobilizinining helicopters get full pictures of people in the streets. The british is more chaotic. I think it will be more focused when theyre in helsinki. Remember, if you can imagine, this is a week that started with the Supreme Court nomination. Good perspective there john nichols and courtney kube, thank you. Roger stone back in the headlines admitting he could be linked to the new indictments. What that could mean for the russia investigation, next. You like to be in control. Some new reaction to the latest indictments in Robert Muellers investigation. Trump Campaign Adviser roger stone admit head could be the one referred to in the indictment. Heres what stone said in an interview about that exchange with lucifer 2. 0. The reason im not charged in this indictment is because i received nothing from the defendants. I passed nothing on from the defendants, and my exchange with them, which is which is included, which any reasonable objective person can read is benign. Its innocent. Theres no evidence of collusion or conspiracy or coordination. Joining me now with federal and white collar criminal defense attorney caroline parise. See nothing, pass nothing on, cog to roger stone. Is he right . Does he think he could stilling charged down the road . Oh, he definitely could still be charged, alex. As is the justice departments longstanding tradition, they do not people at that time. Roger stone is absolutely right, had was not charged with the indictments. It was only russians. But it doesnt take long to see that roger stone if you connect the dots had that to do with the campaign. And so the question is what was roger stones knowledge level. And you wouldnt even necessarily have to know that guccifer 2. 0 was in fact a russian operative. He would only need, a conspiracy charge needs to be that somebody commits a loose crime. You dont need know what other members of the conspiracy were doing. If he was aware that guccifer was trafficking in stolen goods, which we know he was, that could be enough to get him charged with a criminal conspiracy. Look, obviously, we dont know all of the facts but i definitely think this is not the end of the story. I want to read this, on or about july 27, 2016, the conspirators attempted after hours to spearphish for the first time email accounts at a domain hosted by a Third Party Provider and used by clintons personal office. And it was just hours after then candidate trump said this i will tell you this, russia, if youre listening, i hope youre able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. If, caroline, theres a cause and effect to what the president said and hes found accountable for that, then what happens . Well, id first like to say that i dont think its a coincidence that mueller and his team drafted this charging instrument the way that they did. I think there is a reason because there is more coming. And ive been asked this question before, the answer is whether or not there is sort of nor facts on the ground. The question is what did President Trump know at that moment. Was he aware that russian operatives would be listening to him. If they would in fact take that directive, then, absolutely, that goes to a bigger scheme. Prosecutors dont believe in coincidences, ill just say. If it turns out that this is the biggest coincidence thats ever happened, then it wouldnt necessarily be a crime. What about mueller in terms of setting the stage for all of the language he used in describing that incident. Your point, is mueller sending a message to the president . Yeah, i think mueller is being very wise here in terms of priming the American Public. Setting the stage. We know about sort of the obstructionist behavior. And we know that giuliani of all believed there can be any obstructionist behavior on the part of President Trump without the collusion. Now we know what that collusion would look like. It would be in the form of a criminal conspiracy. And mueller has made out exactly what it entailed. It is the hacking of the dccc. And the distribution, in a carefully timed manor to descript thdisrupt the election. All mueller needs to do at this point is add in the additional elements of the americans, and whether or not on anyone on team trump is going to be indicted at this point still remains to be seen. I think the drafting indicates that there will be more indictments coming down. Well see what happens. Thanks so much. Political theater . Yes. But what was gained by the republican flogging of the fbis peter strzok, thats next. Wi. Its what you do. When the thing youre making. Isnt a thing. Its your reputation. The allnew ram 1500. Comfortably, the most luxurious truck in its class. And why more people are switching to ram than ever before. Uhp. I didnt believe it. Again. Ooh, baby, do you know what thats worth . I want to believe it. [ claps hands ] ooh im not hearing the confidence. Okay, hold the name your price tool. Power of options based on your budget and well make heaven a place on earth yeah oh, my angels ooh, heaven is a place on earth [ sobs quietly ] lisa page is a very credible witness. I think theres significant information that is new, that she has provided. There were questions that peter strzok did not answer yesterday, that lisa page did answer today. Republican congressman there mark meadows and the next fbi lawyer, lisa page testifying there. Came the day after republicans clashed with peter strzok in a daylong democratic hearing. Hello to you both. Lets go through the contentious moments from strzoks hearing. Take a listen to this, everybody. There with a little smirk. How many times did you look so innocent into your wifes eye and lie to her about lisa oh mr. Chairman, thats outrageous. Did he ask you if you were biased against donald trump . He did not. Noelle, what is this by republicans is this political theater . Is this an advantage to staging these kind of attacks . Well, i think that strzok knew that he was going to be grilled pretty hard by the right. Thats not really a surprise. I dont think hes surprised. I really think he could have helped his cause by not having a smirk on his face and being so defiant. Look, theres no pride in having a Public Affair with a colleague. Theres no pride in saying that you are going to do what you can to stop an election of a president. Theres no pride in what he did. And he discredit he had a bad mark on the reputation of the fbi. His testimony was a disgrace. When he went up that line of questioning, brought his wife into it. Was that appropriate, did strzok fire back and say, hey, fella, this kind of reflects more on you and your character . It was over the line. But then again, we wouldnt be here if he didnt have these text messages. Its kind of like a free fora all. When you put it all out there, that smirk on his face does not say humility. What about lisa page, for her part. You heard meadows talk about that. Shes scheduled to continue the closeddoor hearing on monday. What do you make of republicans are reacting far more favorably to her testimony than Peter Strzoks . Well, they can react to that the way they want, because the public did not get the advantage of seeing that or five or six hours on every network on thursday. Its nothing that they can comment on or characterize lisa pages testimony any way they want to. I want to disagree with noelle. I think his questions wag so beyond the pale that every democrat in that room knew. That is not a single question that anyone wants to hear. Play the exchange for anyone who hasnt heard it. Here it is, everyone. Sure. Oh, we dont have it. Thought we did. Because that is thats the money takeaway one. Yeah. But just you go ahead, don. Complete your thoughts. Just to be clear, nobody likes infidelity. But that is a conversation that no Single Person in washington, d. C. Wants to have, particularly as a user to impugn his activities with the fbi. I think the smirk was bad. But overall, peter strzok did a wonderful job of representing himself. Representing his activities in this matter. Finally representing the integrity of the fbi at large. Ill just say, alex, there is not room in a thinking persons mind to say that peter strzok was serious to say that we will stop this. But to say that donald trump was joking when he asked russians to hack Hillary Clintons emails. And this coming this week, that is what well see that dichotomous hypocrisy. What do you think, noelle . Strzok said we will stop this, strzok said that not so much we, the fbi, but the American People would stop this with the power at the ballot box. And i got that, but heres the thing. He works for the fbi. Its different in two girls, or a guy and a girl that are having an affair say this stop this. And they dont have any power and they dont work for the fbi. Its different if theyre texting somebody versus somebody thats working for the fbi and in the investigation. Its inappropriate. The optics are bad. And it looks like we dont know what theyre wanting to do. And thats the whole point. And i think thats why the gop was grilling him down because they want to get to the bottom of tell that hes a liar and being deceptive. And don, do you have any concern that democrats came off going a bit too far with the show of support there in the hearing . You had some applauding. There in the chamber. No, we should never be applauding in the chamber. When you have people like louie gomer going to take it over the line. And no, democrats didnt. At the end of the day, its not about peter strzok as much as its about the integrity of the entire fbi. And thats something thats not safe to impugn in front of the American People in the way the Republican Party tried to do. I fully disagree with noelle on pretty much every point this week. I think that peter strzok did a wonderful job. Its a Bigger Picture here, its about the integrity of the intelligence security. And you two, can i just say, respect each other and disagree. Sure. President trump walking back comments that he made to the british tabloid questioning Prime Minister Theresa Mays Brexit strategy. Joining me former adviser to Prime Minister may. Tom, a big headline to you came out while having dinner with the president. Walk us through what came out there . Thanks for having me on. So, we are kind of picking up the pieces after the trump train blew through the united kingdom. Now, hes gone up to scotland. You can see the polls on the streets. A lot of people dislike this president. 77 of the people in the uk dislike this president. Theres no surprise protests took place. What were learning more today is what went on behind the scenes. Ill have the executive director on my show today who is with the president at the palace when they had the dinner. And he is responsible for dealing with trade deals postbrexit. He said he spoke to the president showing how the u. S. Could trade after brexit. And the president was happy and encouraged. And then the front page demands, and there were a lot of people left confused and amused with what the president actually thinks. Then in the press conference, we saw him walk back the comments from the sun paper. I think a lot of people were slightly confused with what the president was saying but ultimately content with what hes left saying were going to get a deal and brexit is just going to be fine. Tom, i would like to know, what do you think the conversation was between the president and Prime Minister before they walked out in that joint press conference . I imagine the Prime Minister did quite a bit of listening during the conversation. I think they get on. Everything that ive seen and heard, they actually do get on quite well. And it was good to hear the president say so in the press conference. And also apologize to her for what he said to the sun newspaper. They do get along quite well. He clearly likes the united kingdom, he was taken to czec r czecherers specifically. The study, that contains the desk that Winston Churchill worked at. And sat in that Sarah Sanders tweeted that picture. That was done precisely to give the sense of the history and scale of the relationship between the two countries. I do think he takes that to heart and i do think he believes in it. Again, do you think theresa may would have would you have confronted him and say, hey, donald, i just wanted to doublecheck what you meant by this sun interview . I mean, would she have confronted him about it . Im sure. And im sure there would have been people who perhaps would have taken the president aside as the International Trade secretary had done and talked about the details of the proposal that the brexit is making. I mean, we have this relationship with the u. S. In order to speak truths to our friends and allies. And the Prime Minister has had to do it on a couple occasions with the president. Whether its the decisions hes made or decisions with the iran deal and moving of the embassy in israel or the tweets that hes put out related to uk. The Prime Minister has had to say, listen, mr.
