At the turkey pardon. He had to pardon roy moore at the same time for child molestation allegations and then you have yesterday he takes this nice ceremonial event honoring war veterans and has to be dominion in crass. Zplp also we have in washington the great host of casey d. C. Good morning. Laser rock. Casey in d. C. , any. Actually i think theyre playing it eastern longer, even more inappropriate. I cant hear. What the what the heck . Were baaack. What the heck was the reaction on camille . Reporter to pocahontas, specifically . Yeah. Reporter well, i think many of them took it in stride as per usual. I think there is a sense that this president is regularly insulting to people. Its easier to brush it off when its one person instead of an entire group of people given the context of the room and the people that were supposed to have been honored at this ceremony made this particularly troubling to the couple of people that i talked about as i was leaving the building last night. Elizabeth warren herself did have a chance to react to it. She was doing interviews primarily about another topic she cares a lot about. This of course intruded. Take a look. Reporter it is deeply unfortunate that the president of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes, without having to throw out a racial slur. Look, donald trump does this over and over, thinking somehow hes going to shut me up with it. Ithood worked in the past. It is not going to work in the future. This i think is a feud that the president clearly thinks is helpful to him. Youve seen other republicans try to stoke, encourage Elizabeth Warren to be seen as the face of the Democratic Party. Have you not seen anybody except for President Trump. They call her pocahontas, they dont call her pocahontas. He does. Eddie, i dont think this is about Elizabeth Warren any more than his battle against nfl players is colin kaepernick. Its not. Its about anybody not a white angelo saxen protestant. We have native american, instead of praising native americans, theyre the most racist elements of my base,ly make a racial joke and sort of hop the plan, so if anybody doesnt thing im associated with the nationalist wing, steve bannon wing, he would not joke that way if it were a group of white soldiers. He wouldnt. You know, im the last to go out and throw the race card down on the table, but it is so obvious, he attacks the nfl, because and we saw it also with the ucla players, its always sort of poking and prodding and making jokes and attacks at the expense of people who are not white. You would want to be generous and call him an archie bunkerlike big ought. Thats nice. It might be too generous. It is homer sumpson, im not joking even though Homer Simpson is a cartoon characterary joke on society. He says the most inappropriate things, big oughted thing. He says the most ignorant things and then what make it worse, he has no clue he is doing it. I disagree. There is something deliberate. The pocahontas claim. Thats worse. It wasnt the worst thing that happened t. Scene was made worse by the portrait on Andrew Jackson behind the event t. Man who signed the indian removal act of 1830, responsible for the trail of tears, who used the skin of indians for whips. So this is part of a theater in some ways the theater of bigotry thats speaking directly to his base as joe said. Before we go into the story of this really is that donald trump continues to play to his lowest base, the worst angels among all americans and even if are you in a ceremony or an event and you are not white, chances are good he will find a way to insult you. Not to insult you specifically, just to remind his White Nationalist base, still with you, here. I think there is an element of racism. I think its always because he knows he can use it and stoke it to drive the most controversy. We are talking about this, we are talking about 78 discussing Elizabeth Warren at an event not about Elizabeth Warren, that is about native American Veterans instead of talking about the russia investigation. Instead of talking about his tax reform going to actually pass. Is his administration actually able do anything . I think he wants to have everyone on edge constantly. Im wondering what happens when they walk out of that room . I mean his staff and john kelly, are they is that a normal day at the white house . I havent seen the reaction that Sarah Huckaby sanders gave. Like everything else. She dug in her hooechls she said the real story is Elizabeth Warren misrepresenting her heritage. You referred to pocahontas being in the senate. Why did he feel the need to Say Something as offensive to many people while honoring the nominal code talkers, these genuine american heroes. I think what most people find offense siv senator warren lying about her heritage to advance her career. The racial slur. He said it was a racial slur, what do you think is the response to that . I think thats a ridiculous response. Is it appropriate for the president to use a racial slur . Any context. I dont think it is appropriate. If it is a racial slumplt why is it appropriate. Like i said, i dont think that it is, i dont think that was certainly not the president s intent. I think, again like i said, i think more offensive thing, im sorry. Does he see political value in calling people out racially . Look, i think that senator warren was very offensive when she lied about something specifically to advance her career. I dont understand why no one asking that question and why that isnt constantly covered. What wont she nobody is talking about that . We talked about that two years. When is there going to be a moment where she says the president misspoke . Whats wrong with her . Why does she do that job . How can she look in the mirror every day and say i am doing the right thing for the American People. Are you not. This is Kellyanne Conway territory. This is horrible. Im not sorry. Go ahead, joe. That is unbelievable. This is our president and that is the spokesperson for the president of the United States sitting there. It is. Defending hess racism. His bigoted language, his stupidity. This is where we are. Yeah, weve reversed course. Its good. Can i go . Go. Whew. Willie. Sick. Its sick. All things sick. The whole relationship is sick. Its enabling. Shes taken the oath. I dont know how you do it. You are raising three children. Stop. Mika what are the conversations when the president exits an event like this . With his private audience . Quiet embarrassment . Well, that was a great event or saying why did you proceed this . Probably the former, thats you cynical i am these day zpls the reward in the white house was to say, that was a funny joke, mr. President. It worked during the campaign, it worked today. Theyll say it was an entire ceremony where he honored the navajo code talkers. I want to insist joes point, she playing to, i want to insist this is politically deliberate. This is not just simply stupidity. This is this is not stupidity. This is not ig fortunate. This is a guy who understands in 2011 if he wants to become a full pledged member of the Republican Party in a real chunk and adopt the birther strategy, a racist strategy where the president of the United States was not even born here. He was born in ken yampya. He attacked mexicans, then he has the muslim ban. Then he attacks the mexican judge who is actually a hoosier, attacks the khan family, a gold star family. Then he attacks a miss universe, says shes fat. Can you go through it. He attacks at different times people. It is all calculated. She not stupid, lets stop calling him stupid. You can question whether his middle abilities are as strong as they used to be. They are not. Look at a basic tape from 1998, 1988 and now, there is no question hes slipped a lot. By the way, people shocked by that, youre stupid if you are shocked by that. Look at the tapes, stack them up sidebyside. All right. Dont pretend this is a controversy. Hold on, mika, if i can talk for one second here im on a rom here im feeling good about this. Okay. So just look at those tapes, can i say one more thing . Yeah. I want to say one more thing. Okay. Youre even laughing. Youre sweating. Were all sweating. Eddie, so you add all of there up, this is part of a sexyear plan to play to the most racist elements of the frub party. He is ignorant to believe what got him 25 in the republican primary is going to help him now. Bautdz he cant bring in thaeb really is intelligent when it comes to politics. He plays to 33 . There is the reason hes got the lowest Approval Rating in the history of america for a first year president. He will for a second and a third and fourth. He thinks this is smart. It might have been smart to get racist in the gop primary, but not now. This is a box. This is a trap t. Trap actually presumes in order for it to be successful the other side will not turn out. Right . Somehow that folks, the enmity towards democrats will lead them to support republicans no matter what and those republicans who refuse to support democrats will join forces with these, what did Hillary Clinton call them deplorables as it were, which is horrible. So the Justice Department that the box can actually translate into some kind of political victory given other forces at work. But i actually think thats just wrong and we saw it in virginia. We saw it in new jersey and were going to see it in 2018. You know where else we will see it, mika . Alabama. Speaking of women. The women in the white house are a sorry example of where we should be. It is so sad to watch what is happening with the women in the house and Sarah Huckaby sanders, if i was the White House Press secretary and for some, for some foresaken reason i lasted until this point and that happened, id be like, john kelly, this ones yours. You are doing the briefing today. How do you think he would have handled the briefing. Do you think he would have lied and said the things that you said, Sarah Huckaby sanders . Do you think he would have defended that language . Do you think he really would have allowed that to happen . All right. Because this is what im saying, i cannot watch a woman do out there and shill for this president and shill for his racism and bigotry. It is so painful. We do not need this. Willie, casey hunt would like to get from on the conversation, too. You want me to be a relay man . Yeah. Casey . Whats going on . I hi, guys. Thats casey d. C. You get a lot more of that next weekend. We have a lot to talk about 250d today, casey. We do. We have the battle for the republicans to get through a tax bill that a lot of people think just the numbers just dont add up. It just doesnt make sense. In the long run, it raises taxes on middle class americans, cuts taxes for the richest americans, adds 1. 5 to 2 trillion dollars to the national. There was a new cbo store that shows it will be devastating to a lot of Small Business the cbo doesnt matter. I right. Im not sure the cbo doesnt matter. They seem to be sort of on lets say thats what the senator republican is saying. They are saying facts dont matter. Go ahead. Reporter it seems actually remarkable. They used to care a lot more let me say that about cbo scores than in the context of this debate. There is a concern about Small Businesses. I think it may get resolved in the course of this week, you have a couple key senators worried about it. Ron johnson, steve darngs montana who are saying this has to get fixed or im not going to vote for it. You have a group concerned about the deficit, who had been huddling into the night last night. Among them bob corker. But i think at the end of the day the politics of this bill are fundamentally different from say health care or the other major priorities. This is something that i have to say i think almost every republican in that building really wants to vote for and they want to get to a place where they can say that they did something. Because i think they are convinced if 245i dont theyre toast. That over arching political dynamics will get authenticator tax bill. Experts say it was written quickly and may have unintended consequences and could hurt individuals over the long term a. Lot are designed to benefit American Families will sunset after a certain amount of time. When you ask about that, they say its a budget gimmick to get us where we need to be. At the end of the day, i think this is going to go through a. Wrench could go in it this week. Well see. But we will talk about that. Willie do you think mika will let us talk about it. Do you think she will . Is that okay . Well open it. I think we need a break from one of the most embarrassing moments in the president ial history that i i cant get over what we saw. But we will talk about the tax bill. Just a little bit . Is that okay . Eddie and i would like this talk about it. I dont know, eddie, what do you feel like talking about next . Whatever you feel like talking about next. Also ahead the Washington Post beats back another shoddy attempt on its reporting on roy moore. Oh my gosh, did you see the guy with the camera following him . James okeefe . Did you see that . Holy mole. Well go live to alabama on the senate race there and later former Senior Adviser to Obama Valerie Jarrett will be here on set. You are watching morning joe, well be right back. I will tell you why theyre doing this. Theyre trying to hide the true issues which faith of people in this country in this state, that they want resolved. Its no different than when the Washington Post brought out the Russian Investigation at a time when President Trump is trying to get his agenda passed. Holy mama. That is roy moore speaking for the first time in 11 days since this controversy broke out. He was on the campaign trail last night. Meanwhile the Washington Post is reporting a woman approached the paper falsely accusing roy moore of having a sexual relationship and impregnateing her in 1982. It didnt happen. It later discovered, she had ties to project veritas that sets up under cover stings that is media bias. The Washington Post turned the table. This is how they reacted with a go fund me page reporters discovered asking for donations to help her work. You still have an interest, this says, combating the lives in the state of the liberal msn. Do you still have an interest in working in the conservative Media Movement to combat the lives and the liberal msn . Is that still your interest . No, no, not really. Yeah. Not at this point. The Washington Post reporter on the left t. Woman on the right, during interviews, she repeatedly pressed reporters to entice her to speak out against her claims t. Post said by what effect it could have on moores candidacy the Washington Post did not publish an article based on her unsubstantiated accounts, describes how when confronted with the inconsist t inconsistencie inconsistencies in her story. She denied working with a project that targets journalists. Jamie philip, from project veritas, did you send her to pose a as a victim of roy moore to the Washington Post . Im a few minutes late to this thing, so i got to run. But i will get in touch with you. Okay. Jamie phillips does she work for the project veritas. I am not getting into it. Thats james okeefe, you remember him from a. C. O. R. N. You have a woman football before this accidenting a story about statutory rape. They thought that would help them expose the Washington Post as somehow propping up other stories that werent true, minimizing the stories made previously by the women in the with the Washington Post. A story about statutory rape but he had gone her in a car and driven her to mississippi and gotten her an abortion. Is theyre fabricating stories about abortion, statutory rape, all in the name supposedly of calling out media bias. So they thought this, though, would somehow disqualify the other women showing the Washington Post will listen to other stories. They have good reporters that vet it out. This is the risk about accusations and denials versus apologies and the bigger conversation about sexual predators. The Washington Post stopped it in its tracks. Vaughan hilliard, roy moore as we showed a minute ago, returning to the campaign trail. What was the event like . Reporter its, willie, its tough after being here a couple weeks now. Reporters the not constantly express exaspiration, not to believe anything goes. Last night after not appearing on the campaign trail, roy moore showed up in this town of 2,300 down the road here from ft. Payne. This is trump territory. 83 of voters here voted for donald trump. This is about the friendliest confines roy moore could find. But 100 peoples bypassed the press. He took a side door in. He talked for 30 minutes. 15 minutes he talked about those as false. He entered a air waves, he is calling this a conspiracy scheme by the lab ral elites and gop establishment. Last night he told the crowd all this is, is dirty politics that is trying to take him down. He played the clip there. He wants to talk about the issues, the first time we heard from him has been a week and a half t. Issues he talked about were not issues that pertain to most voters. He said there was no mention of the economy, willie. The only mention of the military was about transgenders in the military. When it came to education the only mention of education was about transgenders using school bathrooms. There is doug jones, a candidate out here in alabama. The democrats that is actually rung an operation. He has appeared every single day on the campaign trail, took questions from me on saturday in auburn, out in hill county on sunday. He was over in birmingham meeting with students. He will be at tuscaloosa. He is actually taking on surprisingly taking roy moore on front and center on one issue in particularly. That education. Roy moore compares pre school to nazi indoctrination. Folks, we are 49th in education bought of thinking like that, alabama, lets not let roy moore get further behind. Im doug jones and i approve this message. To joug doug jones, he isnt talking about education out here. He was referencing roy moore writing for wmd. Com. We should note also that les busby is a colonel. He is a man without may have name recommendation. He needs all the vote he can get at this point. Later, Joe Scarborough here. You have been in alabama for a long time let me say most of the people think have you cursed our Football Team and the only reason we lost to auburn. They want to meet you behind the stands. Make sure you are out of the state the next time the ball rolls zblarnd so you have been around the state. You get the feel. Im wondering whether you are coming across republican. Mika were back in 2007, 28. Ran across a lot of republicans saying they were going to tauk caucus for barack obama. Im wondering whether we will have thatesque, women stood in the rain to vote against donald trump. Places like mountain brook, vestavia, parts of mobile along the eastern shore, parts of montgomery that always go republican. Are you picking up anecdotally. Women especially, saying, hey, ive always voted republican. But i cant vote for roy moore . Yeah, joe, you are talking about birmingham, where a great number of the women we talked to say they havent voted for a democrat in their life. Say they are open for voting for doug jones, its interesting to hear many have been unwilling to say that on the record. They consider themselves the life long conservatives. Out in a place like here. Noor northeastern rural alabama. I was talking with a minister down the road here yesterday. He said he cant fathom anybody in his congregation voting for doug jones because of his stance of homosexuality and abortion. But he said, interesting by his congregation is a lack of confidence in roy moore. He believes a lot of people wont show up. But theyre not willing to vote for roy moore. Which by the way, that would be deserve e devastating for roy moores candidate daeestanee candidacy. Were in ft. Payne. Its interesting. I thought that roy moore was going to make a pitch on the world. We didnt hear any of that. He spoke i think quite at liengh about transgenderism. Thank you. I wonder if we could meet ft. Payne alabama and get a signal that doesnt have a tensecond delay. Sometimes we have people ten blocks away. Its interesting, he said, correctly, the sock capital of the world which is now in willies apartment. Hes a hoarder. You like this white sox . The red stripes. Look. You know whats interesting, if you read the coverage out of that event and listen to the people they are adamantly for rye more they say this is true. They come from the media, Mitch Mcconnell and the elites. They are saying it out loud. Many hold that view and wont say it out loud. I think we are in territory with roy aikens, i think the support is pleading away. What duping of the conversion, demonize democrats, cultural wars. He is playing on those wars. Hitting liberal conspiracy. Heres the thing about trumpism. There is a lot of people that supported donald trump. Most of my friends now when i call and ask them, sort of, its more like im putting up with him. Hes not Hillary Clinton. God, he sure does a lot of Different Things in his tweets. The guy drives me vaez. Theyre getting tired of Donald Trumps chaos and nonsense. Especially educated trumpsters. I think roy moore takes that a bridge too far. I think vaughan is right, a lot of people will be staying home. He already had problems with this demographic. He has never been a strong general election candidate in alabama. He won by 54 in 2000 and 51 in 2012 when romney was in the 60s. In suburban pockets especially there was a great gap. Didnt he get stomped when he ran for governor . I think he came in fourth. Not a strong candidate. Coming up, bill crystal buried he is soul. Oh my goodness t. Sex scandal is bringing out my inner feminist. My. Donald trump and roy moore are bringing out my inner liberal. What is happening . This is like a scene out of poltergeist. Le joins us next. Stranger things when we return. Zplmpblt accident. Seen it. Covered it. Heather, how are doing . My gosh. Heather, we have sat you next to a left wing liberal stooge. We apologize for that. We were looking over jed, you want veritas to check into somebody. For the weekly standard, bill kristol. Squishy tendency, pro corporatist, you know. I sister a question, bill, so, yesterday, the poke hasnts that thing in the white house, them barrasment to say the least, so bills daughter, miss continetti, my daughters history teacher. She was the best. When you got in the room, everyone sat down, she was speaking to teach history. What is history going to say. Are you clear for landing. What is she going to teach her students about President Trump when this group came to the white house to be honored . I havent asked her, i dont know, maybe she can teach her about the navajo pro talkers. Millions of americans do. Its a Pretty Amazing story. I always like to, you know, aim a man with an optimistic eye. The glass 1 20th full t. Bright side is many will go back and learn something about it. Neighbor reaction to trump will be more important than trump, himself. I agree, thats a long bill you said something, you said you try to be positive and make light of things. But you said, yesterday, you are completely drained of sort of that feeling that, ley, things will be better. It really is truly, we find ours in an impressive place. The page, it doesnt help when people are told how to vote. Im not telling him how to vote. She what he is no one seriously challenges the accounts. Are we supposed to pretend the mystic connection that roy moore has the people transends the actual fact and is lying about it. He is flat out lying. He is following the president t. President got away with it. Roy moore thinks he will get away with it. I this i the writein candidate lee busby gives republicans a place to go if they feel they cant vote for roy jones. Where are we doing here for the state of women and the womens movement, whatever that is from roy moore to the president getting away with it to some men getting fired for it. For other men getting elevated for it and no what i mentioned earlier. Usually women end up being in situations like this, the smarter sex. We step up and cut to the chase and we got women taking an oath of loyalty to women. Where is it . You say its about leadership . I say this is a question for women all across the country to recognize we are still only about 20 of leaders in this congress. We hold a fraction of the country as well. So this issue is really not about sex and sexuality. Its about power. And i think that the man in the white house said this very well on that access hollywood tape, he said, when are you a star, when are you powerful, thats what you can do what you want. Thats is dynamic we saw we need great men to step up and speak out when we see it. We need the pay disparity and power disparity between women and men, women will feel their job is at risk. It can make or break them. Willie, you will notice when mika said on the set, women are smarter than men. None of the men objected. Thats on things effectively true. Harvard and alabama have had rough football seasons. Thats a fact. Women are smarter than men. A verifiable fact the point mika said, a lot of people would suffer for years indigne tis to get into this place, where its out in the open. What is happening right now . I think in some ways one of the pieces that started all this withtives indignity in seeing someone who bragged about Sexual Assaults, had a child rape case. A 13yearold rape case that came out in june. Which i had missed somehow, who had more than a dozen women claiming Sexual Assault and harassment. Walk into the white house. If you believe the exit polls the majority of white pim voting for him still, there was a sense we were asleep. I like to remind people, donald trump u donald trump came in 3rd. 100 million didnt vote. 400 million voted for Hillary Clinton than donald trump. So the vast majority of this country has values not aligned with the abuses we are not seeing in the white house. That is a symbolic and meanlingful slap in the face of women. You will see it at the ballots box. Will you see women running for the office and winning and being for government in a different way. Here we are. November 28th. 20172017 is the party anybody has a reason to be wroud of or is the party thats turned a mind eye to trump over the past nine months turning a mind eye to roy moore . Where are the senators . I think there is one on capitol hill that has actually spoken out and said hes going to support roy moores opponent . Not much to be wroud of. I white house talking yesterday to a republican. Saying it can be saved. Maybe we will see if trump is the nominee next time. This republican said its too late. Its hopeless. I dont know if thats true. I want to say one thing. I think this year with the sex scandal on the hill. I think we barely touched the surface of that a cover up. To protect members of congress, mostly older males using their power to inappropriately with respect to others, i think everyone should run this year against numbereds. They should run incumbents than if you are a young woman, a post9 11, an outsider businessman. If you think the system needs to be cleaned up, this is the year to run. Whether the congressman or woman herself has done anything wrong. You say this is a part of a system that needs fundamentally changed. Do we see these years . Huge incumbent ways. I think this should be as big as any of them. Trump being unpopular. Democratic leadership being unpopular, looking out of touch. Everyone young and different should run this year. So, heather, i want to pick up on something bill mentioned, we barely touched the surface of this controversy, of the horrible consequences of sexual misdukt conduct. We cant litigate each around everyday case. How do we take this out to a broader discussion of patriarchy and power. This is a structure of patriarchy, women can demonstrate patery Yellowstone National parky power. Get to this conversation, about benefits to move beyond the individual cases to this broader systemic question . Thats a good question. I think that we have a problem in this country. I see it expressed as well in the republican tax plan, that some people are simply worth more than other people. You see that with a tax bill that says that corporations who have record profits, wealthy people richer than theyve ever been deserve more of our countrys treasure than working class people who are struggling and the predominant people of color. So in some ways, what you are talking about in terms of the patriarchy is a question of whos life matters who is viewed in this country and for too long its been a very narrow set of people. I think the spire country would benefit if we had a view of people, not historically been at the top and held the majority of the wealth. I think you talked about historians, what will be remarkable is people will look back at the election of donald trump. They will not be as shocked by how he won. Its that it was such and i anomaly and we had an era that actually started with Barack Obamas election in 2008. And a more than first america that turned the page and entered a new chapter and somehow everything lined up between whether its james comey the russians, Hillary Clintons inadequacies as a candidate. You can stack it all up. Donald trumps appeals to a dying breed of voter and it all just lined up on that one day. That is what people are going to look back 30 years from now in wonderment going, oh my god, that was a oneday anomaly. There is there is hope. In alabama. Justice can prevail. And yale. I know. The two Great College teams, harvard and alabama go down to defeat. Well, yeah. You know, alabama of the north. Heather mcgee and bill crystal, thank you both. Steve, let me ask you quickly, politics weve been talking about alabama. A lot of people talking about the campaign there. Weve heard some things about internal polls. Weve seen public polls. Sort of all over the place. Whats your latest read on whats going on in the race for the senate seat from doug jones and roy moore . The volatility in the polls, the trend over the last couple of weeks has been against moore. Its taken a race where i think he had a slight but clear lead and put it into a tossup. In alabama you have to go back 21 years to find a race that was Single Digits in alabama. 2002 is the last time it was within 20 points. Now you have this possibility, i think you were talking later, this write in candidate who could get in there. I dont want the expectations for late starting write in campaign. When the margin is that slim and when roy moore has a history already, the last time he ran in alabama was 2012, he underperformed mitt romney and got 51 when he was chief justice in 2012. You add the scandal and put a dead even race and throw in a write in candidate. If the write in draws 3 of the vote, thats coming from the suburbs of birmingham, that could be a difference maker. What are you looking at . What are the keys . Is it the birmingham suburbs . Yeah. The mountain brooks . Exactly. If you go back and look at where roy moore underperformed mitt romney the most in 2012 in romney withins with 62 . Moore is down there at 51 . Its the suburbs of birmingham. Joyce, obviously youre down in birmingham former u. S. Attorney. Because of what happened in the iron bowl, but we should overcome. The faithful are zdevastated . Roy moore has not been the political machine everybody in National Media seems to think. I think he came in fourth place in the gop primary several years back when he was running for governor. What are you looking at . What are people in birmingham saying right now about this race . Well, doug jones is definitely winning the battle of the yard signs as you drive through the traditionally conservative voting neighborhoods, birmingham suburbs, you see a surprising number of doug jones signs. I finally saw on thanksgiving day the first roy moore sign that i had seen in a yard in suburban birmingham. There is quiet conversation among conservative women. They do not believe they can vote for roy moore in these circumstances. Again, im speaking about the birmingham suburbs. Whether that translates in votes for jones remains to be seen. This new write in candidacy by the colonel is very interesting. He will have low name recognition. Theres very little time left in the race. The traditional wisdom is when you have two candidates in the same party they split the vote, and could that be enough to allow doug jones to be the first democrat alabama would have in the lineup . Its an interesting question. Yes. Willie, again, the question is do you have women who have and other republicans who have voted in the suburbs for republicans their entire life crossing over to vote for doug jones, or almost as bad for roy moore, people especially when saying im just going to stay home . Im not voting for either one of these guys . That will be a question. The women weve been talking about. You only have two weeks until election day. It remains to be seen the difference that can be made in two weeks. The strategy by roy moore has to be lay low. He had a campaign event. In 11 days hes let other people speak publicly for him, let the outcry from washington and the press fight against his supporters in alabama. Hardened his supporters and say theyre coming from out of state to try to knock off good alabama folks who want a godly man to be a senator. Well see if there are enough of those people who rally and vote. I think it will come down to Republican Voters who cant vote for this republican. President trump is headed to capitol hill to rally republicans on the tax bill before sitting down with the top leaders in congress including democrats nancy pelosi and chuck schumer. It comes amid a public Pressure Campaign by the president who tweeted last night new home sales reach a tenyear high. Stock market has more record gains. Hopefully republican senators will give us the much needed tax cuts to keep it going. Stop right here. Put that tweet back up. I mean, he always contradicts himself. If new home sales reach a tenyear high, and the stock market has more record gains, that is not the time. Seems like to grow. Big business doing well. Corporations doing well. That doesnt seem to be the time to blow away 2 trillion hole in the deficit. You do that when the economy is so bad and youre like we hate putting another 2 trillion on the National Debt, but people need to get back to work. Its weird he cites own ownership when this is tyke a hit on the interest deduction. Why is he highlighting one of the most unpopular aspects of his plan that he says is going well in. These republicans that are thinking about voting for this not only have to deal with conservatives when they go home asking why did you add i know your donors love this. Heres what id say to mine if i had a republican representative, id say listen, i know you got to be nice to your donors, and i know they pressure you, but why would you add that to the National Debt . Also in youre in california or new york or connecticut, why would you raise my taxes . Or why would you raise my taxes and not let me deduct money from my home interest . Or if youre a working class person, why would you raise any taxes . The end of this bill, i think theres so many poison pills in this bill. I understand what youre saying about republicans saying they have to do something. But its like what do they say . If somebody asks you to jump off a bridge, would you do it . Theres sometimes doing nothing is better than doing something if something is stupid. I dont think any one poison pill is big enough to be the death when you stack it up against the failure and being faced with that. Donors are not just complaining to republicans about this. They are saying if you dont do this, forget it. What have i been giving you this money for . Im out. And kasie, i hate to sound like rafflph nader. I never thought it would come to this. This is all about donors. I never in my 25 years of following politics, i have never seen a bill that was more specifically transactional for donors and less popular with the base its a 25 Approval Rating than this bill. This is the donors relief act of 2017. And you hit on a great point there, too, and i think the question is going to be do i mean, President Trumps voters, a lot of them dont necessarily stand to benefit from this tax bill. A lot of them stand to lose. They have the president out there selling it very aggressively, more than with health care. I think there is a question, can he convince those people this is good for them at the end of the day . And the other piece of this you mention new york, connecticut, california, places where they dont have any republican senators. There are no republican senators who are worried about donors in those states inspect on the house side there are a hand full in each place. The fact that our country is so polarized is expressing itself this way. Its a problem. But you look at california house members, how many there are. Hillary won a lot of republicans. Hillary won a lot of those districts. Same with new york. You can look in illinois. You can look. All these places where republicans are going to have a tough fight already in 2018, they voted for a tax increase for their Small Business owners. The cb so saying this hurts Small Business owners. I mean, the very people who are Donald Trumps base who have traditionally been the Republican Partys base are going to be hurt by this bill. Were going to blow a 1. 2 to 2 trillion hole in the National Debt, and ive seen people go golfing with k street dudes all the time. On first tuesday of november, ive seen guys who think the donors can save them on election day. They cant. Think about how cynical the moment is. Were saying big money is driving policy thats going to devastate poor people and hurt children. Its going to hurt the selfemployed and Small Business. And were saying this in the name of a policy that isnt consistent with conservative principles. Im trying to figure out some people can argue it is consistent with conservative principles. Its not. Its difficult to argue on principle for the tax cut. Someone who is on the left arguing with a conservative about the merits of a tax cut when those principles arent animating the policy. Its just big money. If there were in january of 2009, after the crash, when americas economy had collapsed, most economists would say okay, that makes sense. Deficit spend, tax cuts, stimulate the economy, but as Donald Trump Tells us in the tweet, the stock markets at a record high. Check. Homeownership at a record high. Check. Unemployment is almost at full employment. Check. The past two, three years have been pretty good for this economy. I cant think of a single economist who says now is the time to add to the National Debt. The economy is doing well. Politically watching this, the action is on the republican side. Its all the issues, all the potential stumbling blocks youre talking about and trump and Republican Leaders trying to tell republicans up and down because they cant afford many defections, swallow hard on this one and do it. And yet, you look at donald trump and how he got elected last year in the primaries and the general election. This is a guy who seemed to do well politically when his relationship with the Republican Leadership was an tag ntagonist. He had a chance to put things on the table that would put democrats uncomfortable and make them have to choose between their voters who went for trump and the party loyalty. Theres no pressure on democrats here at all. All the pressure is on the Republican Party. Zbh for our friends listening on siriusxm, put the chart back up. This is a nonpartisan analysis of the senate gop tax plan. Its by the congressional Budget Office. Its run by a director who was appointed by republicans. This republican run Nonpartisan Organization said that most people earning under 75,000 would be worse off. That those making over 100,000 will receive most of the gains and axes Health Insurance mandate premiums will rise to such a point that working class and middle class americans cant afford Health Insurance and they also come to the conclusion that will hurt Small Businesses. Its pretty clear when you look at it from the cbo. Youre covering this closely, kasie. Ive been interested to see some republican senators voice the concerns that joe has voiced. Senator langford of oklahoma, for example, saying im worried this argument that were going to grow our way out of the 1. 5 trillion hole doesnt hold water. He said we talk about debts and deficits as republicans. We ought to talk about them right now. Does that mean he may not vote for this . Or is he getting on the record saying i have concerns about it . I think its more the latter than the former at this point. I think well learn a lot over the course of today. Partly because they all showed up yesterday. Langford was huddling with jeff flake and corker to try to work this out. You also have a couple people concerned about the Small Business tax rate compared to the tax cuts for c corporations, and theyre trying to work things out. My sense of what were seeing here is kind of a public negotiation with the leadership. Its the traditional song and dance of how a bill like this comes together rather than a bunch of republicans who are coming out and saying no,ly not vote for this. Theyre saying i want to negotiate before we vote on it. Its an important distinct. Unless Something Big changes, i think the political environment is do or die and all the republicans want to get to yes. Another reason we have joyce here is this story. X National Security adviser Michael Flynn signalled a break from President Trump and his legal strategy last week and a new report suggests things are moving more swiftly. Flynns lawyer met monday morning with members of the special counsel Robert Muellers team. An indication they are discussing a possible plea deal. We have not confirmed the report which cited no sources and flynns lawyer declined to comment to nbc. When flirn was seeking immunity in march, his lawyer said general flynn certainly has a story to tell, and he very much wants to tell it. Should the circumstances permit. And speaking about Hillary Clinton in september of 2016, flynn said he believes receiving immunity is a sign of wrong doing. Five people around her have had immunity to include her former chief of staff. When youre given immunity, that means you probably committed a crime. Theres a quote for everything, actually. A quote for absolutely everything. Joyce, on thanksgiving day we heard that Michael Flynns lawyer sent a letter to the Trump Legal Team saying we can no longer coordinate with you if this abc report is correct. If, we say if, because there are no sources attached to it. But if this is correct. And theyre now talking to muellers team. Does that suggest were a step closer to a deal between muellers team and the general . It definitely does, joe. Its a common practice if you have a conspiracy investigation with multiple subjects or targets for those individuals to enter into whats called a joint Defense Agreement. It lets them share information among themselves that protects it from disclosure to the prosecution. When you see someone signaling theyre withdrawing from that joint Defense Agreement which is what were hearing from one of the trump team lawyers. That starts to make you think that either a deal is being negotiated, attempted to negotiate, or flynn has formally reached a deal with muellers team where he will plead guilty presumably in exchange for some lesser sentence for himself, perhaps consideration that would keep his son from being prosecuted, and that he in exchange will provide cooperation against other targets of the investigation. Joyce, i want to ask you a question as well while we have you here on another topic. You are uniquely positioned to answer it. There have been claims from the president and Roy Moore Campaign that doug jones is soft on crime. As a former u. S. Attorney there, you know doug jones. I was in birmingham last month. I stopped and paid a visit to a church and stood at the cite where four young girls were killed in 1963. Can you explain what doug jones was like as a u. S. Attorney and some of the cases reprosecuted and answer the question as to whether or not hes soft on crime . So i not only know doug jones. I actually worked for him when he was the u. S. Attorney. Doug had barely taken office when a bomb went off at a Birmingham Womens clinic killing a police officer. And not only did doug oversee that case as u. S. Attorney, he was actually on the scene early in the morning. Didnt leave for hours. Made sure that Law Enforcement had what they need, and that event in that Abortion Clinic bombing very much typifies the kind of hands on approach he had to Law Enforcement. Whether it was police corruption, cartellinked drug dealing, i dont think anyone who ever worked with doug, republican or democrat would characterize him as soft on crime. Let me ask you, we talked about this before. Donald trump has announced more selections for federal judgeships and also u. S. Attorneys. Again, all men. I think were well over 90 of his selection. That will do a lot of good. For u. S. Attorneys have been men. Is there something that the Bar Association is doing that the womens Bar Association is doing . What can be done to put pressure if not on the white house because obviously they dont care, but to put pressure on republicans in the senate to tell the president theyre just not going to confirm continue confirming white men . That there has to be some mix . That they have to start getting women in there and getting diversity because the senate will not be on record as saying 95 of u. S. Attorneys from 2017 and 2018 have to be white men. In 2017. I dont think were going to see that sort of a standup from the senate, quite frankly. The republicans have a majority. Theyve had no trouble at all confirming candidates for both the judgeships and u. S. Attorneys. But whats troubling here is that based on criticism of the earlier waves of predominantly white male nominees, theres been almost a deliberate effort to continue to nominate people who are white men, many who are well qualified on paper. Others particularly in some of the judgeships, there have been concerns expressed, but this absence of consideration of well qualified women, people of color, native americans, folks from the Lgbtq Community can only be construed as a deliberate decision by the attorney general and the president. Joyce vance, thank you very much. Thank you. And still ahead on morning joe. Well talk to the man trying to keep roy moore from winning alabamas open senate seat, lee busby joining us to discuss his write in bid. And later well catch up with valerie jarrett. With two weeks left in the Alabama Senate race retired marine colonel lee bus bianoused his attention to run as an independent write in candidate saying he believes neither republican roy moore or Democrat Doug Jones is qualified and colonel busby joins us now from birmingham, alabama. Good to have you on the show this morning. Thank you for being with us, colonel. Why are you doing it . Good morning. Thank you for having me. Well, im not happy with the two choices i had. And i normally dont have as extreme a reaction to not being happy with choices. But i felt like there was a lot of people in alabama who felt like me. The more i talked to the more since i got, theres a huge swath in the middle that feels like theyre not represented there. And thats what youre hearing from people . I mean, are they responding to your campaign . Or has this been tough youre laughing . Yeah. Well, no, theyre responding to my campaign. I was laughing at the roy moore supporters comments that showed up on our Campaign Facebook this morning. Responding in an interesting way. Willie . Yeah. Yeah. Im either a democratic agent or a lackey of Mitch Mcconnell according to to most of that. Neither of those seem likely given your background. How do you win this thing . Is this a Spoiler Campaign or do you believe theres a way in just two weeks you can somehow get enough write in votes to win . Its winnable. My math beforehand, i think its a slightly over 200,000 vote race. And that is im not making light of that number. Its a significant number coming in from nowhere with two weeks left, but weve picked up the Media Coverage already. Ahead of schedule, and we now turn to converting that into getting people out to vote who otherwise were not going to do it, and then also we have an education process on how to. I do think its doable. Again, like i mentioned a moment ago, ive been accused of being a spoiler. Its not. I think i will draw from both roy moore supporters and doug jones supporters. Colonel busby, do you normally vote as a republican . Are you a registered republican . I do normally vote as a republican, and i am registered as a republican. Were you a supporter of roy moore before the allegations of child molestation . What changed your mind . No. What changed your mind that you couldnt vote for roy moore . It was not the swirl going on. It was not that at all. I got no interest in it. I hope they get it sorted out, but its not my interest. I was not a supporter of that beforehand. I dont know roy moore. Ive never met him. But theres a sense of selfrighteousness that comes out of that campaign that bothered me. And i dont think it represents the majority of alabama voters. Wow. Just a followup. Do you believe the allegation from the woman who says she was sexually assaulted by roy moore at the age of 14 . Have no idea. I walked past the television and caught a brief snippet of it, but im not interested in that. Thats between them. What is your interest, then . What is driving you to do this . Because a lot of people are assuming that its these charges. Are you putting yourself in the camp of people that thought roy moore was disqualified even more those charges came out . Tlar lot of republicans that feel that way, that even before those charges came out, he was not worthy of being a u. S. Senator. I dont see anything in his background and experience that would compel me as an individual voter to elect him as a u. S. Senator. I see a background steeped in the alabama judiciary, but i dont think thats the issues. Its certainly not the exclusive issues or even the majority of issues in the u. S. Senate. I dont see any background in foreign relations, military and intelligence, commerce and banking, foreign trade. I dont see that. And so i was not interested in voting for him to begin with. And the other part is my sense is you know, weve gotten weve been divided and gotten so focussed on the far left and the far right, and thats alabama far left and far right. And theres this big swath of average alabama people who are not represented in there, and theyre disgusted. Theyre disoriented, and im talking to people who are politically active who simply were not going to vote because their choices were the Moore Campaign or the democratic candidate. Right. All right. Retired marine colonel lee busby, thank you for coming on the show this morning. Nice to meet you. Thanks for having me. Before you say anything, what i think is interesting is his decision not to talk about the allegations. Which you would think that especially people in the media would immediately jump on that and say how could you not . I think in alabama there are a lot of people who dont want you know what . Are exactly up that alley. Its just like enough with both sides. Theyve both let us down, and hes tapping into i think the mind set that donald trump tapped in except he might be more qualified for the job. I just wonder if that posture thats the posture a roy moore voter wants to hear. Weve heard enough about this. Lets talk about other issues. We were talking earlier about the voters in the suburbs, birmingham, huntsville, who normally vote republican. The ones that if you want to stop moore, you have to win over. Theyre the ones who are most offended and alarmed by the story, the allegations. Steve, by the way, were offended by roy moore and his selfrighteousness even before the allegations came out. Because we could go back in a time machine and look the day after the primary. There were a lot of republicans, myself included, saying if i were in alabama, you know, id be voting for doug jones, and i think there are a lot of other people like the colonel who said even put that aside, which i know is hard to do, but even putting that aside, roy moore is unqualified to be a United States senator. He was kicked off of the bench not once but twice. And its true. Like i said, he did run ten points worse than mitt romney in 2012. Romney got more than 60 of the vote and moore barely won. A lot of republicans voted for every republican except roy moore. What does he mean by the far left in alabama . Doug jones . Thats far left . Thats what he said. Hes in alabama. For alabama . That means just a democrat . Its really abortion. It comes down to abortion. If the democrats had run a candidate who was pro life, this race would be over. This abortion is what is lingering, i think, that is the decisive edge that would have taken doug jones easily over the finish line. With that still out there, it is the strongest political weapon that roy moore has against doug jones. I think over the past ten years, i think you all would agree and people that follow politics in the south would agree youd say there are three issues that would hurt doug jones. Samesex marriage, abortion and guns. Its now down really more to abortion, and i dont know where doug jones is on guns, im guessing hes fairly moderate on the issue. Hes probably a lot like Ronald Reagan and george w. Bush and people that supported background checks and everything else. It does sort of narrow down to abortion. And steve, that was a fight democrats had after the 2016 election. I made a suggestion one day on twitter that they should find candidates who were progressive on all other issues but on a couple of social issues, abortion. How did that go for you . Be a bit more moderate. Kaboom. But then you saw nancy pelosi coming out saying, yes, we are open for business if youre in the south, and youre prolife, you can be a democrat. Well take your vote. We want to run the house. We want to run the senate. So this is a good debate for democrats to have. And i dont think theyve resolved it. You hear the message from nancy pelosi. There are a lot of people who write big checks with the Democratic Party who are not ready to put their money behind a candidate with restrictions on abortion. Alabama, i think it was doug jones on mtp daily at start of the campaign who said no restrictions on abortion. If you rank the states when they do polling on states most antiabortion, alabama clocks in at number two or three. This is an issue there with them. And if you look at polls, youll know this better than me. Ive seen some polls where theres pretty wide support for restrictions on abortions after 20 weeks. 20 weeks. That is not a minority position. That is not a right wing position. That is a majority position in america. My only point being if democrats want to be a Majority Party in america, maybe they look in places like alabama, mississippi, georgia, florida, south carolina, deep south areas and maybe they arent so offended to disqualify somebody who has a majority position in america, which, by the way, 20 week restriction on abortion is i dont think thats too far away from where the law of the land is right now if you look at the supreme court. The interesting thing on that polling when you think about how the issues are typically framed and talked about, you dont see much of a gender gap when it comes to abortion and restrictions. You see women in numbers equal to men often on these issues of restrictions on abortion. Supporting more restrictions maybe than the conversation sometimes reflects. And certainly when you look at a place like alabama, but i have to say when you look overall at the conversation that seems to be taking place in the Democratic Party and on the left since the election, its listen a mind set more of entrenchment and lets not reach out. Lets stand together and resist. I cant help but note the irony of the passion around the position of abortion, and the willingness to accept the 14yearold child being molested. Well, i do think, though, that in this case, i think you actually will have somebody that supports abortion rights in the state of alabama has beater chance of getting elected. To your point, its fascinating to watch even the colonel, it gives us a a snapshot of whats happening that he cant come out and condemn what hes read and heard, to say im not interested it. Its radio active. He doesnt want to run off people who may vote for him. President trump wrote in a tweet over the weekend hes possibly done more than any ten month president. He definitely has. Definitely. We can discuss the ways in which he has. Adam schiff agrees tweeting your Campaign Manager indicted. Foreign policy adviser plet guilty. National security adviser fired for lying. Theres some stories about Michael Flynn that arent sourced out completely. Id like to ask the question this way. He was interested in telling his story before. Could he add value and in what way could he add value to the bob mueller investigation, do you think . He could certainly add value. He had his own interactions with the russians. Theres a reported meeting between kushner and flynn and the Russian Ambassador where allegedly they discussed setting up a secret back channel to communicate with the russians. He could shed a lot of light on that and other interactions that may not be publicly known. And, of course, any discussions with the russians over a quid pro quo or sanctions that would be of deep interest to the special counsel. If he knows anything about the trump tower meeting, that would be of deep interest. At one point he asked for immunity in a public way. And we havent pursued that. We wanted to make sure we learn everything we can before we consider such an extraordinary process. What are the chances he has nothing to add . I think the bigger risk than that, because he clearly could add in terms of what we knows. Can he be trusted and believed . And hes done enough, said enough, where hes impeached a lot of his own credibility. So you would need as a special counsel to be able to corroborate anything he might say. Or he might need to produce documentation. Has at any point to your knowledge general flynn sought immunity in this process . He made a public call for it early in the investigation. With us it was never pursued. And perhaps because, frankly, it would have been, i think, rejected at the early stages and probably even at the latest stages. Whether he made that request to bob mueller early in the process, we dont know. I think its significant that they know have opted out of the joint Defense Agreement. That says to me this is coming to a critical point where hes either going to face indictment or a plea, and theres an interest, at least, in a negotiated resolution that might include cooperation. I think thats a key development. It means something is probably close to happening in that case. You spent a lot of your professional life as a prosecuter. As you watched this play out, does general flynn, as he made the moves of someone who is taking steps toward cooperating . Certainly not that weve seen publicly. The only step weve seen along those lines is the one we saw recently. Theres been a lot of speculation because of the seriousness of the potential schashlgs against him and his son that he has every reason to cooperate, but then at the same time you saw through the pardoning of joe arpaio, stick with me and ill have your back. The arpaio case hadnt reached sentencing yet. This at least gives the appearance he may be cooperating. Theres another wrinkle in the story. One of President Trumps reported contacts over the Holiday Weekend at maralago is getting some attention due to ties to Robert Mueller and his investigation. A source told politico the president had a, quote, lengthy conversation with a former cia executive order. He was recently interviewed about Michael Flynn and an alleged plot. He advised the Trump Campaign and left the Trump Transition Team in january also served in the board on Michael Flynns lobbying firm. He was at a meeting with flynn in turkish government ministers where they discussed removing the critic of erdogan by a covert step in the dead of the night to whisk this guy away. A spokesman said last month the former director was interviewed about the meeting adding that he and his wife were in touch with the fbi even before mueller began overseeing the bureaus probe. As you read that story, thats the significance of someone like that having a conversation with President Trump at maralago over the weekend. You have to hope, but you cant expect it, they wouldnt be talking about the investigation. The bigger question is whats he doing there . Why is he there . Did he decide thats a great place to vacation or is he still seeking something from the administration that drew him there . So there may be an innocent explanation, but it seems odd to me given his centrality on that allegation. That he would be showing up in that place and having conversations with the president , or others, because that was the only reported conversation, but if he was there meeting with others that also have an interest in the investigation, that would also be concerning. Or he could be a source of information about the investigation to the president. Thats true too. What would he be doing in maralago . To me, its inexplicable. Former cia director . I dont know. You have to wonder what business there is still between he and the administration or those around the president. So who is on the roster of upcoming interviews for the committee this final month of the year . Well, a great many. Theres an effort, i think, by the majority to bring in as many as possible to try to wrap things up as soon as possible. And a sense of urgency is fully appropriate, but when youre bringing people before you get the documents, to question them or bringing in multiple people a day and you dont have the time to prepare, then it looks different. Its looks like were trying to get it over. This week Jeff Sessions is coming in and the committee has also publicly announced this morning were bringing erik prince in in a closed open hearing. Thats also interesting, because we dont do that with witnesses. They made an exception with carter page, i think because they felt carter page was going to be exonerating of the white house. It didnt work out that way. But is this at the white house request that this is open and why are we departing from best investigative practices . By having it released, you allow other people to align their stories. They havent shared their reasoning. A lot of actions in the investigation later. Well have to have you back. Adam p schiff, thank you very much. Still ahead this morning, native american groups speak out as well as many others do at this unbelievable moment. From these stories its been clear that there are some women and one is too many. Who feel that ive done something disrespectful. Thats hurt them. And for that, i am tremendously sorry. And i know that i am going to have to be much more conscious when in these circumstances, much more careful. Much more sensitive. And that this that this will not happen again. Going forward. Democratic senator al franken of minnesota holding a News Conference outside his office yesterday, as he returned to work. Alize, what do you think . Everyone has given franken so much accolades for saying, oh, hes sorry. Big deal. He wont actually admit that hes done anything. He says hes sorry for making them feel uncomfortable. He isnt suffering any repercussions whatsoever. Hes just going back into his seat. Unscathed. Everyones supporting him. This would have been such an easy political win for democrats. Democratic governor, in minnesota would have appointed another dem. Its a safe seat. Yet, theyre just completely out of step where with i think the base of the Democratic Party is. Interesting. Im a little less comfortable with the story. Go ahead. So, we talked we talked last block or two blocks ago just about the fact that the majority of americans support a limit on abortions after 20 weeks. And the response, you say, your twitter page yeah. Just exploded twitter. This is a thing. That is a fact. Yes. Its like youre entitled to your own opinions, youre not entitled to your own facts i think it was once said. And so there are people that dont even want to have this discussion in the Democratic Party. There are also people that want the Democratic Party to be the Majority Party again and to win congress. And to that, they have to become a national party. Theyve got to win in alabama. Theyve got to win in wisconsin. Theyve got to win in washington state. Theyve got to win in new york state. Theyve got to win all over the place. So, i think this is a good example why some people dont even want to have a conversation around facts. I think the context of our conversation, too, the politics about alabama. The conversation around alabama and the polling around alabama is very different than youll get in blue america. And thats something that anybody has to think about. I think, polling abortion is complicated. People hold seemingly duplicated views on this. I have found very few people are in one camp or the other fully. Where its all on the prolife side or prochoice side. I think when you take polling, Public Opinion polling, put it on 20 weeks, abortion after 20 weeks that is something that has tended to poll very well. It adds to the complexity, i understand the complexity of Public Opinion about it. I believe after 2016, if you brought this up, youre accused of heresy and the witch trials begin. Again, just talking about the facts nobody here is saying well, in both parties, the most extreme views, most americans do not support lateterm abortions. Right. So that puts them so out of step with people in the middle who they could perhaps win over. On the opposite side, gun control, gun rights advocates, we take it too far also there with the nra. As the republican supports gun rights. I see, though, how we go too far. Valid measures leading to banning of abortions in weeks of mississippi and south dakota, those ballot measures lost, right . I dont know, do you think . We have to continue the conversation. Ahead, President Trump heads to capitol hill as republicans try to make a deal on tax reform. Well talk about the changes some senators want in change for their support. Plus, valerie jarrett, former Senior Adviser to president obama joins us here on the said. Morning joe coming right back. Qunol, the better coq10. I just want to thank you because youre very, very superb people. You were here long before any of us were here. Although, we have a representative in congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her pocahontas. But you know what, i like you. What was that . That was probably was that an snl skit . No. That was tell me what that was . That was cheese ball in chief. At the very least wow. That was good. Obviously an insult. Alec baldwin was very good at that. Maybe it was an snl skit. Good morning, everyone. Really that was real. That happened the other day at the white house. Those are the famed navajo code talkers from world war ii. You could see the gears turning. You saw the nativeamericans oh, ive got to wake up my daughter making appropriate nativeamericans let me say youve been here longer, maybe its something that you dont want to say to anybody and secondly what. Well, how do you drag that into a ceremony recognizing an Extraordinary Group of american heroes that actually helped us win the battle in iwo jima. Any takers at the table . Hes been on a roll with botching the ceremony events. Look at the turkey pardon. He also had to pardon roy moore for child molestations. Then yesterday, he takes this nice ceremonial event honoring war veterans and has to be demeaning in his comments. Eddie george here. On november 28th. We have in washington the great host of kcdc. Oh, yeah. Kasie in d. C. What actually, i think youre playing it a little longer. I cant hear. We love that. And were back. What the heck was the reaction on capitol hill . To pocahontas, specifically . Yes. Ahh well, i think many of them took it in stride as per usual. Theres a sense that this president is regularly insulting some people. Its easier to brush it off when its aimed at one person instead of an entire group of people. Clearly, in the context of the room and the people were supposed to have been honored at this ceremony made this something that was equally troubling for the couple of people i talked to about it as i was leaving the building last night. Elizabeth warren herself did have a chance to react to it. She was doing interviews primarily about another topic that she cares a lot about but this, of course, intruded. Take a look. It is deeply unfortunate that the president of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur. Donald trump does this over and over, thinking somehow hes going to shut me up with it. It hadnt worked in the past. It is not going to work in the future. This, i think, is a feud that the president , you know, clearly thinks is helpful to him. I mean, youve seen other republicans try to stoke, encourage Elizabeth Warren to be seen as the face of the Democratic Party. Youve not seen anybody except for President Trump he did say, oh, they call her pocahontas. No, they dont call her pocahontas. He does. Yeah, he did. Eddie, i dont think this is about Elizabeth Warren any more than i think his battle against nfl players is not colin kaepernick. Its not. Its not about anybody who is not a white anglosaxon protestant. Everything is coded. Oh, weve got nativeamericans here, instead of praising nativeamericans because theyre the most racist elements of my base thinking that of myself, im going to make a racial joke and sort of pop the balloon. So if anybody that doesnt think im associated with the steve bannon wing. Do you think its that . Of course it is. Because he would not joke that way, if it were a group of soldiers. He just wouldnt. I am the last to go out and throw the race card down on the table, but its so obvious, he attacks the nfl because and we saw it also with the ucla players. Its always sort of poking and prodding and making jokes and making attacks at the expense of people who are not white. You want him to be generous and call him an archie bu bunkerlike bigot but thats too generous. I think hes Homer Simpson, even though im joking that Homer Simpson is a joke on society. He says the most inappropriate things. He says the most bigoted things. He says the most ignorant things. What is worse, in the end, he has no clue that hes doing it. I days agree he know what is hes doing. Theres something, the pocahontas claim wasnt actually the worst thing that happened. The scene was made worse than the portrait of Andrew Jackson behind the event. The man who signed the indian removal act of 1830, responsible for the trail of tears and used the skin of indians. This is part of theater in some ways, the theater of bigotry that is speaking directly to his base. The takeaway from this, alise, really is that donald trump continues to play to his lowest base. The worst angels among all americans. And even if youre in a ceremony or an even and youre not white, chance are good hes going to find a way to insult you. Not to insult you specifically, but just to remind his White Nationalist base still with you here. I think theres an element of racism. But i think its also because he knows he can use it and stoke it to drive the most controversy. And were talking about this. Were talking about him discovering Elizabeth Warren at an event that is not about Elizabeth Warren. Right. But is about nativeAmerican Veterans in instead of talking about the Russian Investigation. Instead of talking about his tax reform actually going to pass. Is his administration actually going to be able to do anything. I think they just want it constant. I wonder, what happens when walking outside of that room, his staff and john kelly, are they is that just a normal day at the white house . I havent seen the reaction that Sarah Huckabee sanders gave. So, lets like everything else, she dug in her heels on it. No. She said the real story here is Elizabeth Warren misrepresenting her heritage. Its not about donald trump. No. Lets listen to what Sarah Sanders said yesterday. He referred to pocahontas, why did he feel the need to Say Something thats offensive to many people while honoring the navajo code talkers . I think what most people find offensive is senator warren lying about her heritage to advance her career. She said it was a racial slur. Whats your response to that . I think thats a ridiculous response. Is it appropriate for the president to use a racial slur in any context. I dont believe its appropriate for him to make a slur or anybody else. So why is it appropriate for him like i said, i dont think that it is. I think that was certainly not the president s intent. Like i said, i think the most offensive thing recently im sorry . Does he see political value in calling people out racially . Look, i think that senator warren was very offensive when she lied specifically to advance her career. I dont understand why no ones asking about that question. What wont she nobody is talking about that . We havent been talking about that in two years. When is there going to be a moment when she says the president misspoke . Whats wrong with her . How does she do that job, how can she look in the mirror every day and say im doing the right thing for the American People. Because you are not. This is Kellyanne Conway territory. This is horrible. Im not sorry. Go ahead, joe, that is unbelievable. This is our president. And that is the spokesperson for the president of the United States. It is. Sitting there defending his racism. His bigoted language. His stupidity. This is where we are. We reversed roles. Its good. Can i go . Go. Sick. Its sick. The whole thing is sick. The whole relationship is sick. Its enabling. Shes taken the oath. I dont know how you do it. Youre raising three children. Stop. Mika, what is the audience when the president exits, his private audience. Are they saying, well, that was a great event or do that say why did you blow this . Probably the former. Thats how cynical i am these days. Because the reward is to say that was a funny joke, mr. President. Theyll say they did an entire ceremony where he did honor the navajo code talkers but its overshadowing that moment at the end. I want to assist on joes point. This is politically deliberate. Right. This is not stupidity wait a second, this is not stupidity. This is not ignorance. This is a guy who understood in 2011 if he if he wants to become a fullfledged member of the Republican Party in a really meaningful way and get a large chunk of that party. In 2011, he decides to stop being a democrat. A manhattan centrist democrat and adopt the birther strategy for the president of the United States, was not born here, born in kenya. And then he attacks mexicans in his announcement. Then he has the muslim ban. Then he attacks the mexican judge. Then he attacks the khan family. The gold star family. We could go through the entire thing. Then he attacks miss universe, says shes fat. You can go through it he attacks at different times people. Its all calculated. Hes not stupid, lets stop calling him stupid, all right . You can question whether his mental abilities are as strong as they used to be. They are not. Just looking at basic. Looking at from 1988 and 1998 and now, theres no question that he slipped a lot. By the way, people shocked by that. Dont be shocked. Look at the tapes, stack them upside by side, all right. Dont pretend its a controversy hole on, mika, if i could just talk for one second here. Im on a roll here, im feeling good about this, okay. So, just look at those tapes. Can i say one more thing . Yeah. Okay. I just want to say one more thing. Okay. Youre even laughing, eddie. So, eddie, you add all of this up, this is part of a sixyear plan to play to the most racist elements in the Republican Party. Right. And he is, i will say, a resort ignorant, hes politically ignorant to believe what got him 55 , 65 in the republican primary is going to help him now. But because he cant bring in anybody that really is intelligent when it comes to politics, because he just cant have somebody telling him the truth because it will just freak him out. He plays to 33 . Theres a reason hes got the lowest Approval Rating in the history of america for a firstyear president. And he will as a second and a third and a fourth if he makes it that far, because he plays so this isnt smart. He thinks its smart. It might have been smart to get racist in the gop primary, bit not now. Well, this is the box. This is the trap weve been talking about. And the trap actually presumes, it presumes, in order for it to be successful that the other side will not turn out, right . S that somehow, the energy towards democrats will lead them to support republicans no matter what. And those republicans who refuse to support democrats will join forces with these what Hillary Clinton called them deplorable which is is horrible, right . So, the idea is that the box can actually translate into some kind of political victory given other forces at work. I actually think i actually think thats just wrong. Which we saw it in virginia, we saw it in jersey, were going to see it in 2018. You know where else . Where . Alabama. Just remember what i said about a little bit o soul why are they doing this . Theyre trying to hide the true issues which face the people of this country and this state that were resolved. Its no different than when the Washington Post brought out the Russian Investigation at the time when President Trump is trying to get his agenda passed. The Washington Post is reporting that a woman approached the paper falsely accusing roy moore of having a sexual relationship and impregnating her as a teen in 1992. The post reported that it was later covered that the woman was tied to an investigation that sets up undercover stings to expose a group that is media biased. This is how the woman reacted when presented with a go fund me page reporters discovered asking her for donations to work . Do you still have an interest as it says, combatting the lives in the state of the liberal msn . Do you still have the interest in working in conservative movement in combatting the lives of the msn . Is that still your interest . No the Washington Post on the left is the one who repeatedly impressed to speak out about her claims by is asking her what effect that would have on moores kancandidacy if he went public. The woman denied working with any in that targets journalists, project veritas. With project veritas, to pose as a women of roy moore in the Washington Post . Im a few minutes late. Ive got to run. Does she work for the Washington Post . Does she work here . Im not just to be clear, what youre seeing there, thats james okeefe, head of project veritas. You remember him from a. C. O. R. N. And others. You have a woman fabricating a story about statutory rape. They thought that would help them expose the Washington Post somehow propping up other stories that werent clear. The story about statutory rape, but also that he had gotten her in a car and driven her to mississippi and gotten her an abortion. Right. So theyre fabricating stories about abortions, statutory rape, all of them and supposedly calling out media bias. So, they thought this would somehow disqualify the other women who have gone to the Washington Post saying that the Washington Post would listen to any story. The problem is the Washington Post has great reporters who vetted the story, shut it down and never published it. What does it mean for alabama voters . Welcome back to morning joe, just two weeks to go in the u. S. Senate race in alabama. With us from ft. Payne is msnbc vaughn hillyard. Reporter its tough to be here, as a reporter not expressing exasperation. Not to believe that anything goes. Last night after 11 days of not appearing on the campaign trail, roy moore showed up in this town of 2,300 here. Down the road from ft. Payne. His suv rolled up to the event site with 100 people inside. Bypassed the press. Took a side door in. He talked 30 minutes. 15 minutes of those calling allegations false, malicious. Yesterday, he released a campaign ad in airwaves where hes calling this a, quote, scheme by liberal and gop establishments. Last night, he told the crowds all this is dirty politics trying to take this down. In the 30minute address, the first time weve heard from him in a week and a half, the issues that he talked about where not issues that pertain to most voters. He said theres not much to the economy. He said when it comes to the military, the only mention of military was transgenders in the military. When it came to ed, the only mention, willie, was about transgenders using school bathrooms. To draw a contrast, doug jones, the democrats running an operation. Hes appeared every single day on the campaign trail. Questions from me on saturday, took questions from me out in hill county on sunday. He was over in birmingham yesterday meeting with students. Hes going to be down at tuscaloosa at a Medical Center taking more questions today. I want to play you an ad where hes now running with where hes surprisingly taking roy moore front and center on one issue in particular, and thats education. Roy moore compares preschool and Early Childhood education to nazi indoctrination. Folks, were 49th in education because of thinking like that. Alabama lets not let roy moore drop us further behind. Im doug jones, and i approve this message. Reporter to doug jones point, roy moore is not talking about indication. From wmd. Com, a conspiracy website. Is the time line of giving a vote on this this week you think still realistic . That is pretty optimistic. Okay . Theres a lot of details to work out on this. So, this is the process. Youre watching the sausage being made. Oh, wow. And set to head to capitol hill today to put pressure on republicans like that one, ron johnson, to get a tax bill over the finish line. Hes a no. Hes a no right now, hold out votes may keep that from happening for the president. For republicans. Joining Us White House correspondent jeff vannen. Jeff what is the strategy with the president . Reporter well, the strategy is to show that hes personally invested in the republican tax plan and frankly that he understands the details of the way his critics say he did not understand the republican plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care act. So, hes headed to the hill today because the senate is about to kick off a marathon debate on the tax plan. As per usual, the president is tweeting about it. Heres the latest, he writes, the tax cut bill is coming along very well, great support with just a few changes, some mathematical, the middle class and job producers can get even more in actual dollars and savings. Thats what the president is say, but analysis from the nonpartisan Budget Office says, the cbo says if the law would become law today, most earning under 75,000 worse off. It would help those making more than 100,000 by 2027. And those for the Affordable Care ability, because it kills the premiums the premiums would rise. We should say that members of the Senate Finance committee were here to meet with the president and vice vice president. Senator orrin hatch was asked about it, and he said its a flawed investment. He doesnt believe it. Still with this, democrats are united in blocking it in the senate. And we believe we now know who the no votes may be, ron johnson, and steve daines from montana. Both of those senators have issues with the way socalled passthrough business is passed through tax. Im told that daines and johnson are working with republican lawmakers at the white house to have their concerns addressed. Theyre confident they ultimately will pass the bill but no smooth sailing yet, willie. Nbcs Geoff Bennett at the white house. Thank you so much. Who at this table think those two will not intertwine . Theyll be there. Were watching the sausages being made. How exciting. Were looking at mccain yeah, those two. Joining us now Susan Collins . Well see, i cant believe Susan Collins, after the position she took on Health Care Reform would allow republicans to gut a mandate that would be detrimental to the people of maine. It would be detrimental to Small Business owners in maine. It would be detrimental to working class voters in maine. You cant take the position that she took on the Affordable Care act, that health care plan, and then gut it in away thats going to make, again, premiums go up. And its going to end up hurting Small Business owners. Small Business Owners already hurt by a lot of these other taxes. Which again, thats the congr s congressional Budget Office. Some may not like it now geez, republicans loved the cbo numbers. Knack, they appointed the chairman of the cbo, theres a paul ryan appointment . Interesting. Well, joining us former senior advise tore president obama. Valerie jarrett. Valerie serves on the board of directors of lyft, a company leveling the playing. Welcome. I want to see valeries reactions. Were a week away back. Valerie jarrett, President Trumps pocahontas comment. Speechless. Speechless. I try to think about still optimistic, we have to think what we each can do. Thank goodness for you and the press holding everyones feet to the fire. I travel around the country and there are just ordinary americans doing extraordinary things making their communities better. So, i try to look towards the rest of the country. So, you basically dont watch tv or go online. I try to do a little bit of it. Its not good for my house. Mostly to stay informed. Helping obama with his foundation. To galvanize people. The board of lyft, the board of aerial. Ive got plenty to do. They have pretty good numbers in terms of female leadership. Growing numbers. Tell us about it. They do. Well, its a Company Founded under the principle that diversity is a strength. Admitted to making lives the americans better through the best transportation possible. And their corporate values reflect ones that i believe in. So, at the same time, the values from the white house, from the top down of sort of the american system, theyre being challenged. Joe is optimistic that the system will hold. I am less so. What do you think . Oh, i have to believe in our democracy. And if you look back through our nations history, its always been messy. There have always been those entrenched in the status quo trying to zudisrupt the forces r good. Its up to us. Our government will only be as good as we insist it will be. We all have a responsibility to hold it accountable so im still optimistic. You and me used to talk about women in the workforce, while you were at the white house. Continued to do. You certainly were a great help and inspiration for knowing your value. You asked me to work on council focusing on that. What is the state of women in the workforce today, with all of the things that you launched, president obama launched that mika was proud to be a part of, where does that stand today . Well, the united state of women is committed to continuing the work that we did through the council and women and girls. I think what were seeing right now, thanks to the spotlight of a lot of very brave women and men who have come forward to talk about the issue of Sexual Assault, theyre putting the spotlight on a challenge. The support that we took, that mika was supportive of. Whats the value of the 21st century worker . Women comprise half the workforce. Yet, often theyre dropping out of the workforce. Why . Oftentimes, its the culture. Traveling around the country, every Corporate Board ought to be asking itself what are we doing to create a culture of inclusion . Because thats how were going to be globally competitive. Lets face it, thanks to what were seeing in the headlines, we have a long ways to go. This problem didnt just start ov overnig overnight. Its been going on for decades. And brave men and women coming out and putting the issue in the spotlight, its time for change. We talk about not to talk about after the fact. What are we going to do to prevent this abuse in the first place. And thats culture. You dont have the baggage of having worked in the Clinton Administration and that legacy of the Democratic Party when it comes to defending bill clinton and worked in the white house to promote women and girls. What would you recommend for the democratic leadership now when it comes to handling some of these allegations of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment by members of congress . Well, i dont think its just the democratic leadership. I think its everybody. I think its elected representatives. I think its state and local and federal government. I think as i said earlier, its the Corporate Boardrooms. I think we all have to ask ourselves how to do better. I think transparency are important. Very uncomfortable with nondisclosure agreements. What happens is predators just continue to behave poorly unless we have more transparency. I think we have to protect the survivors and ensure that we dont put them in the path of lightning. Oftentimes, women who do come forward are vilified and criticized going back to what we saw happening with anita hill decades ago. That still happens today. So, i think its up to all of us to provide a circle of support and change the culture. And that tone does start at the top. Valerie, your former boss, president obama, was gracious to the handsoff to President Trump back in january. Hes picked his spots in the last ten months or so. He spoke out in the paris climate debate. He spoke out as congress was going to repeal and replace the Affordable Care act. As you speak to him privately, what you can share with us, what is his concern . Is he optimistic on where we can go . And whats his thought on donald trump generally . Well, of course, hes concerned. The steps that he went to level the Playing Field to make sure we have a culture of inclusion so that every child gets a shot. And those steps that he took are being rolled back. But hes just so optimistic. One of the residence he created this Obama Foundation is to create this position, where a couple weeks ago, we had the summit. Lifting them up and helping them expand those best practices gives him great reason to be optimistic. While hes still concerned with a lot thats happening. We didnt mention daca. We know thats coming up. Obviously, those young people who came to our country through no fault of their own who are truly spirited american citizens, they should speak up. What does he say as he watched his legacy being unwound . I think its important to keep in mind, this is never about president obama. This is always about the people were trying to serve. So, is he concerned about the efforts to roll back the Affordable Care act where millions of americans have insurance, many for the first time, all of us who have preexisting conditions dont have to worry. The safety net that really should be a right when thats undone and jeopardy and threatened to be taken away, of course, thats a concern to him. And i think thats part of why he wants to really instill the sense of optimism in the next generation to appreciate your responsibilities of citizenship. That means everyone can do something. Everyone can get involved. Thats what keeps him hopeful. Let me ask you this question. We have the historic election of the first half of the american president , 2000, critical as you know, over the last eight years. No now, we have donald trump. What is your assessment from the state of race in the country . We know what the datas saying. What know what africanamerican communities are experiencing as these policies are being rolled out. How would you characterize the state of race in this country . Look, if you look through history, the state of race in our country, is it better than it was decades ago . Of course it was, just ask congressman lewis what it was like walking across the Edmund Pettis bring and being hosed down. We still have a long way to goes. Many women, under the surface, seeing the light of day more apparently today than before. But i also think again, every citizen has the responsibility to make this country as good as we can possibly make it. Do you agree with some of the folks who say that much of what were experiencing with regards to policy is in direct reaction to the fact that president obama was the first black president. No. This is kind of yeah, we go back and forth with one another regularly. What do you make of it . Look, a lot of it is protecting the status quo. The entrenched special interests in washington. You take gun violence. Something i feel a great deal about. The fact that congress hasnt moved forward to keep guns out of the wrong hands. Doesnt have anything to do with a black president. It has to do with the stranglehold the nra has over washington. I think its people looking out for shortterm political interests. I think thats wrong. I think what we need are elected officials to look out for the American People long term. The only way thats going to happen, we hold them accountable. We, the american press, we the voter, we the American People. The kennedys, could never figure out, people supporting Bobby Kennedy went on to vote for george wallace. What do you make of the people who voted for barack obama in 2008 and then were so discouraged or desperate or whatever, that they voted for donald trump eight years later . Apparently the antithesis. Its a stigma what your theory, what the obama camp theory surrounding that . I think change. They were looking for change. I really cannot spend a lot of time looking backwards. Its too, too painful for me. I just try to look forward and say what can we do to try i mean, look, im troubled by the 43 of the American People who didnt show up in the didnt sh up at the polls in the last election. Thats a problem. Thats a lack of understanding what our responsibility, all our responsibilities as citizens should be. The bare minimum is voting and then get engaged in your community. So thats troubling to me. The Obama Foundation is interested in helping people understand and appreciate the power of the citizen and getting them engaged and getting them participating in our democracy. Well, as it pertains to women as we close, you talked about that circle of support that women need. I also think Companies Need to learn and focus on something that youll be able to offer as well as me, a sense of how to not just support female employees through all the different changes in their lives, getting married, having children and different flexibles they need so they can retain female employees and make them leaders, because we need more women in leadership positions, more women on boards. Thats why its great youre on the board of lyft. Because that will change the culture. Absolutely. Its great to prevent but we now need to change the culture and be a part of leadership. Thats exactly right. Which is another reason i want more women to run for office. Yes, please run. I think we would be much better represented if we had at all levels of government, more women sitting around the board table, difference of perspectives. And, again, to compete in a globally competitive marketplace, you want all of your talent. In computer science, women stay an average of three years. Number one reason they leave, culture. If you dont have women at the top, you are lacking talent. Thank you so much. Thank you, valley. Its great to see you again. Great to be with you. President trump is going to make the quick trip from the white house to capitol hill. Can he win over the holdout republicans and push through tax reform . Cut, cut, cut . Joining us now, executive director of the 92nd street y in new york city and the brains behind giving tuesday, henry times. Msnbc is the signature media partner of giving tuesday for the fourth year in a row. That is something to be proud of. Henry, what a great idea. Of course you have a theres a mass consumerism of obviously black friday and then cyber monday. What a great followup to actually tell people, you know what, stop thinking about buying for others and yourself and how about helping. You know, weve been just so inspired by the reaction to this idea. We launched this, the y, six years ago and it was always a simple idea, right, youve got black friday, youve got cyber monday, what about giving tuesday. And then corporations, nonprofits, individuals, families, church, synagogues, everyone just grabbed this idea and took it all along the country. Today in america in every state in small towns and big cities from big corporations to local pizza parlors, everyones finding ways to connect with their communities. Its a time when we, you know, hear lots of stories about anxiety and we hear lots of things about negativity. Todays the day where around the country youre hearing positive stories about how everyday people can step up. That anxiety that people are feeling, it really can be quelled a little bit by actually taking action and doing something generous and giving and maybe taking control of the situation in some small way. One of the interesting bits of research around the impact of giving, so giving is clearly good for who youre giving to. Right. It actually helps lessen anxiety. One way you can lessen your own anxiety is through giving. It does Something Else especially on days like giving tuesday. Today isnt a story about henry gives to mikas charity, but its a story of all different background, all different groups coming together across the country, recognizing the time so many things seem to divide us right now that we have to reaffirm those things that do unite us. If theres one tradition in this country that we can be proud of, its philanthropy. Its 1 million from a corporation or if you can spare five at the soup kitchen on your corner, it all falls under that giving tuesday umbrella. Some of the stories weve heard about have just been amazing. In houston today, a lot of the Public Libraries are back online again today so there are volunteers reading to kids, doing popup libraries in houston. I read about this school, the high school outside wichita. I had to look it up on a map. Every tuesday in november, their whole school has gone out into their community to find out who their neighbors are, to run a soup kitchen and today at their school theyre bringing the whole Community Together through here in new york city. West End Day School today, the kids there are making backpacks and writing notes for kids in puerto rico. Wow, thats why i love america. Were very focused on puerto rico and how can giving tuesday push back this idea we are swamped in selfishness and narcissism in this moment . I think one of best ways to you know, we live in this world of kind of spikes right now. We all see these big spikes in the media. But theres also a pulse in this country, right, every day there are people in nonprofit organizations and communities who are doing unnoticed but critical work which actually repairs and strengthens our democracy. The small acts we all take add up to massive impact. I think one thing we can do today is think about whats that extra mile we could go. Whats that one person we can reach out to who maybe is outside your typical world, to find a way of connecting with someone else, i think thats one key message for giving tuesday. Well, what a great way to end the show today. Henry, thank you very much. To find out more on how you can give back, visit msnbc. Com giving tuesday. Henry, thank you very much. Thank you for joining us. That does it for us this morning. Stephanie ruhle picks up the coverage right now. Happy giving tuesday. Hi there, im Stephanie Ruhle with a lot to cover today.
