Hillary. Until tomorrow, we say to you, sayonara. Coming up next, Chris Matthews hosts a town hall of libertarian candidates. Weve got issues. People think this is a horror movie and they cant change the channel. The libertarian fikt could tip the scales. They want to kill each other. Does anyone believe that will get any better . Tonight, two nights after the most watched debate in history. He will sit down and make his case with Chris Matthews. Hive from the university of New Hampshire. The gary johnstown hall. Here now Chris Matthews. Good evening. Im Chris Matthews at the university of New Hampshire in durham. This was big a president ial debate monday night. Were here to bring two additional voices into the debate. Lets welcome the candidates for president and Vice President of the United States. Gary johnson of new mexico and former governor bill weld. Today, president obama responded to something that happened in monday nights debate. And heres the president. You had somebody who basically insulted women, and doubled down, i think, this morning, in terms of how he talks about them and talks about their weight and talks about, you know, how they look instead of the content of their character and their capabilities, which is not something, somebody i want in the oval office that my daughters are listening to. That sonls are listening to. He was talking about something Hillary Clinton brought up in the first debate last night. Lets listen to what second clinton said and how donald trump responded. And one of the worst things he said was about a woman in a beauty contest. He loves beauty contests, supporting them and hanging around them. And he called this woman miss
piggy. Then he called her miss housekeeping because she was latina. She was the winner. And she gained a massive amount of weight. And it was a problem. We had a real problem. Not only that, her attitude. And we had a real problem with her. So hillary went back into the years and she found this girl. This was many years ago. And she found the girl and talked about her like she was mother teresa. And it wasnt quite that way but thats okay. Governors, half the electorate are women. And here we have one of the candidates for president engaging in a weighin of some kind. What do you think of this from one of your opponents . Horrible. I was reading in it in the times where he accompanied her to the gym. Where he subjected her to exercising in front of the camera. I guess that was his role in the Miss Universe contest. Look, how does it get any worse . She was 18 at the time. An immigrant from venezuela. What does it tell you about mr. Trump . You know, its bad. Take a number. A lot of things are bad in his approach to things and the way he talks to people. He tries to set groups against groups. Stir up anger and resentment and even hatred. It is the opposite of how a president ial campaign should be approached. Were you surprised when i talked to him, about his position, prolife, thats the position hes taking and i said what should be done . He said there should be a punishment for a woman. I was shocked. Explain how a libertarian looks at the issue of choice. How can there be a more difficult issue than anyone is going to face . By anyone, the woman involved. That that should be the woman involveds choice, period. You dont know what youre going to get when you ask a question. The previous year, he said im prochoice, have been. Im from new york. Like broken clock, he is right twice a day. When you asked him that question, at that point in the campaign, maybe he said 50 things would have disqualified someone from being president. Now it is closer to 150. Lets talk about the other Major Campaign running against you. Former senator from new york, former first lady, a hell of a resume. But she also has a resume regarding wars. She supported regime change, she supported w. She supported getting involved militarily to knock off gadhafi in libya. She now today i believe still supports a no fly military role in syria. She seems to like u. S. Military involvement. Where do you stand with those . Should we be a countryhat get involved in regime change . We should not be involved in regime change. There have been they have polls conducted among active military personnel and ive been on top of those they have polls. And i like to think it is because of what i am saying regarding this. Were putting our military in a terrible situation. We maintain if were attacked, were going on attack back. We get ourselves involved on both sides of the issue. In syria, for example, you cant make up what happened. I dont think it was intentional. Certainly not on bushs part. This is what happens when we get involved in regime change. And governor johnson likes to point out that wars have
unintended consequences. Both economic and military and moral. I spent a lot of time abroad after the iraq invasion of 2003. Nobody can tell me that we didnt have a moral penalty for that in the world at large. And militarily, all the weapons that we arm the rebels with. The weapons wind up in the hands of isis. When we go to war, the old europeans, theyve been through 2000 years of war. And they know what a war is. Both sides lose eventually. Ive spent some time with military guys coming home. Mostly men. They come home with arms missing, blind, deaf, i met a guy both. Does anyone think about that when they put guys into combat . Wars with questionable value . So heres what im getting really emotional over. And i blew this aleppo question. I want to take full responsibility for that. What have you done to correct the fact that you didnt know what aleppo was . Forget with aleppo completely. And get to the root of what it is all what do you now appreciate . I appreciated it from the very beginning that because a politician can dot the is and cross the ts on some geographic location or the name of a foreign dictator, that in that context, now we should believe them when it comes to these interventions. And as a result of that, those interventions, our men and Service Women are getting killed, theyre getting maimed and injured for the rest of their lives. And in this case, hundreds of thousands of innocents in these countries that get caught in the cross fire of these civil wars. Is your point a resume doesnt give you discernment . Is that your point . Hillary clintons resume didnt prepare her for the right
decision . In this case, politicians that beat their chest over the fact they have a microphone. That gets stuck in their face. What are you going to do about these atrocities . The atrocities are real. What is not being realized, when we go in to support regime change, to address those atrocities, the situation ends up to be the same or worse in many situatio. What is your ticket now on the question of u. S. Involvement with syria . Troops on the ground . No. We should not. What ive been saying now for seven week, we need to involve russia in this to come to a diplomatic solution to this. Of course this cease fire that was negotiated here a week ago, it was brought with problems from the very beginning. We are supporting the Free Syrian Army but theyre arm in warm the islamists. The krurds sideways. Can we trust and rely upon him as partner in this peace effort if this is going to be one . I think gary predicted the only way out would be a cease fire involving russia to some extent. Thats what has happened and it has blown up. It didnt help that we killed 60 syrian soldiers. You have all these rebel groups. You have isis. Al nusra, everyone waiting to be the next al qaeda. And it is a complete mess. And todays news about the rocket that shot down the passenger plane in krooub came in by truck. Down the passenger plane. Goes out at night. So putin knew all about it. And thats not even taking responsibility for what you do. That makes you less inclined to say russia, lets work together. Lets get to the major thrust. If you tend to be dovish, i ten to be dovish. Should you vote for trump or hillary . Youre more dovish. Are you in on this . By dovish im all in. [ applause ] were going to get back to this im sure with the questions. Lets look at this exchange for mondays debate with 84 Million People watching. When donald trump defended his birther crusade where he said that basically president of the United States is an illegal immigrant who snuck into the country, went to college, got into the harvard law review, got everything through secretive Conspiracy Theory stuff. Here he is explaining and defending. Were talking about racial healing in this segment. What do you say to americans well, i say nothing. I say nothing. I was able to get him to produce
it. He should have produced it a long time before. I think i did a great job and a great service. Not only for the country but even for the president in getting him to produce the birth certificate. So donald trump was doing him a favor by saying show me your drivers license since youre the first africanamerican president. Thats what he was doing. So Michelle Obama spoke out on the birther issue Conspiracy Theory today. There are those who questioned and continue to question for the past eight years whether my husband was even born in this country. And let me say, hurtful, deceitful questions deliberately designed to undermine his presidency. Questions that cannot be blamed on others or swept under the rugby an insincere sentence uttered at a press conference. Trump said Hillary Clintons
people started this. What do you make of that . Based on my following story, and im not a rock thrower. I never, ever said a word about it. I always thought it was bs from the beginning. It continues to be bs. Thats the biggest grand daddy of a whopper of all. Oh, Hillary Clinton started this. Im ending it. It is pathetic. It is so palpably a lie. Why would he do it . I dont think that donald knows when the curtain is down and when the curtain is up. I think as he loose man, sometimes he seems to have a tenuous hold reality. This is a guy were going on give the football to . Please. Explain the football. The nuclear codes. Yeah. And he wants to arm japan and south korea with Nuclear Weapons so he can have more nations with Nuclear Weapons. Whoever it is, has ten minutes if there is an plert comes up. It looks like something is coming. To decide, which of the thousands of weapons were going on fire in that ten minutes, has
to decide that. He gets advice from a general. He can ask a few questions. In ten minutes, he has to decide which part of the world he is going to blow up. Which of these with candidates do you the choose . Me, me. This. Second choice. This. The when you you think trump and hillary are equally qualified to be commander in chief . No. I want some answers here. This is hardball. I dont know. That we are totally i like that. No. Hillary clinton is clearly qualified to be commander in chief and president of the United States. Donald trump is clearly not qualified. And ive encouraged him almost with affection to think some of other job or profession. And ive suggested the laundry business. Codo great in the laundry business. He has business smarts. But president of the United States is the wrong tree to be barking up for him. I think she is going on press
the button. What . Well, if confronted with that ten minutes, she will be hawkish. She will be more hawkish in that role. You think she has a happy trigger . I think she wont err on the side of not being the aggressor. Lets talk about Something Else that we probably going to have to face more immediately than nuclear which is chimt. Look at the audience. Average age, 23. I think were above the average, by the way. And theyre going to live in this climate. And we have one candidate saying there is no climate threat. Even though anyone living in massachusetts sees the water level coming up. The snows of kilimanjaro have long gone. Ive been to kilimanjaro. Theyre still a long ways. Okay. Youve been up there. Lets talk about your first hand report on the top of kilimanjaro. Do you think Climate Change is real in one the of candidates
challenging you, Hillary Clinton, says it is very real. The other says it is a home. I think it is real and we as human beings are demanding less carbon emission. Thats a good thing. And were getting it. Were 16 of the worlds carbon load. So lets not youre a libertarian. How does a libertarian avoid over regulation . If we think fossil fuel is dangerous to the environment, something has to stop that use. How do we do it . In this case, the free market has dwelt coal. The free market has bankrupted marginalized coal. 36 of the load remains coal. If you are an electrical, if you supply the electrical grid, which is currently 36 coal, youre not going to replace with it coal. Natural gas is still lower in price. So free market. Everything you want federal controls on
emissions . No i think federal government has a role to protect us against harm i put pollution in that category. So federal government setting standards, setting scientific standards. Yeah. You bet. Because of the smell or bad air . Were going to breathe it, were going to inhale it. You dont have a problem with the Government Action to deal with climate. You dont have a problem generally . That i think free market does a better job of it, chris. And ill cite for you as an example are you in on this thing . . Environmental regular slags an exception to my general libertarianism. The economy ts are so great. You cant rely on the market or an destroyed stop environmental degradation which harms all of us and avoiding harm to our fellow man. I support the Environmental Protection agency. I think it comes under the heading of doing us harm and, but for the Environmental Protection agency, there would
continue to be pollution. One thing like about libertarians, the president can disagree with the Vice President. Let me get a question. My name is brendan luke from west chester, new york. My question for governor johnson is, what you do you have to say to people that think a vote for you is a waste of a vote . That a waste of a vote is voting for someone you dont believe in. Thats a wasted vote. And right now, weve come up among young people to be tied with hillary among young people. Were leading among independents. So what i say offering a first vote to people is something were very proud of. Everybody sees this happening in the democratic party. They know youre doing well. Look at this. This was in the hill newspaper today. This democrats panicked by Third Party Candidates drawing support away from Hillary Clinton are ramping up their attacks against gary johnson and warning that a vote for a third party is a vote for donald trump. Heres president obama warning about you guys. If there is one message i want to deliver to everybody. If you dont vote, thats a vote for trump. If you dont vote. Thats a vote for trump. If you vote for a Third Party Candidate who has no chance to win, thats a vote for trump. What do you make of that . For young people. So you disagree the president. Well, yes neither one will do anything for medicaid or medicare. Im going to get my retirement but you all are going to foot that bill and you wont get
anything . Yeah. I think theres a reason young people are sporting us. So neither gli reform the situation. Nobody will reform the situation. Were headed to bankruptcy with regard to the size and scope of government. The government is too big. Whats going on this year is that both the parties, both the establishment parties in washington are trying to scare everybody thinking you have to vote for an r or a d because we have a monopoly on power. I would suggest they havent done a great job in washington getting the peoples business done. They want to kill each other. Well talk a lot about that. Well get more questions from the audience when we get back. The university of New Hampshire
we cant go back to the years of devastating cuts to public education. Exactly why i urge you to vote yes on prop 55. Prop 55 prevents 4 billion in new education cuts without raising taxes on anyone. And theres strict accountability in prop 55. With local control
over School Funding decisions. And mandatory annual audits guaranteeing the money goes directly to our classrooms. Not to bureaucracy, not to administration. So vote yes on 55. Because it helps our children thrive. A beautiful campus up here at the university of New Hampshire. You know, i grew up like you guys, it always glookd when youre younger. Great. Lets talk about the basics of libertarianism. I guess one of the ways it began to evolve as an argument, why should a young guy or woman, who wants a ride a big motorcycle, a big hog if they want to ride one. Why should the government tell them to wear a Health Sunset why should bloomberg tell us we cant buy a coke bigger than 16 ounlss. Why cant we buy a big coke . Why cant we ride without a helmet if we want to . I guess Libertarian Party is against that. Are you for helmets . I wear a helmet. I dont want to be told to. And theres an organ donor shortage out there. Youre making the news. Did you mean that . Did you mean that . How about somebody with a sense of humor as president of the United States. Do you know why i asked you . It just types the words down. It doesnt say funny joke here. The 16 ounce drink. The progressives will say if we have to pay for hospital care for diabetes, if we have to pay for the crash site, get the guy to the hospital and take care of the surgery, take care of him, get him back to health. If society has to pay those costs, cant society say wear a helmet is this. Let me use bloomberg as an example. I think he took real leadership role. On cigarettes or sociedas. Sodas. I dont want to implement this in the federal government. I think as a result of what he said, i think we have the eight
ounce can of coke. I think weve come to a better awareness nationwide because of what bloomberg did in new york. Are not you against laws . I will. But his action, his leadership in this area. Michelle obama when she talks about nutrition. That is leadership. Do we legislate that . No. Because then we end up then it is so successful, the reduction in the size of sodas, that i guess at some point well criminalize to it make sure that everybody complies. Lets talk about dope. Why do they call it dope . . Why do they call that it in. Marijuana. I dont know why that came about. And ill tell you based on my having done it for the first time, which probably a few of the kids in here, in this room have maybe had the same experience. Why do they call it dope . Youre looking at me sthfl funny . Youre giving never look. I am a supposed to respond to that . What do you want me to think . You dont think its dope. It is the safest. It is so much safer than Everything Else out there starting with alcohol. Let me read from your platform. It says, this is the libertarian platform. You have read it, right . Ive read it. I dont have to agree with every word. Here are some words. We favor the repeal of all laws of crimes without victims such as the use of drugs for medicinal or recreational purposes. Thats pretty clear. Marijuana. Thats legal in colorado. Different degrees of legality. What about we move it further . Recreational drugs. Some might say cocaine is recreational. Some might say crack cocaine. They might say heroin. Where do you draw the line . We are the libertarian nominees. As governor of new mexico, i was the highest elected official. Did you mean literally . [ applause ] tim highest elected official to call, ill use it again. Governor of new mexico. Called for the legalization of marijuana in 99. Im saying the same things today that i was saying then. I only favor the legalization of marijuana. But i believe we are going to do that. It says on your platform, recreational drugs. My platform is one thing. We can extend that to republicans and democrats. I understand. Thats serious sometimes. So this is not a serious statement. Let me extend, too, when we legalize marijuana. Ive said this since 99. I believe well come to a quantum leap when it comes to the understanding of the drug issue and it will start with recognizing drugs first as a health issue rather than a criminal justice issue. Im from maine and im a tune here. This is a question for governor johnson. What are your thoughts on come batting Climate Change as well as potentially moving toward a more stufl sufficient country in the future . Climate change. That it is man caused. That we should reduce carbon emission. It is happening. Were 16 of the worlds carbon emission load. I dont want to put us out front that we lose jobs over this but i believe were demanding less carbon emission. And as an example, coal, it has been bankrupted. Why would you build a coal plan when as depressed the price of coal is right now, you can build a gas fire plant for less. How many here are concerned about Climate Change . Pretty unanimous. Except the guy with the beard. Odd man out is the good man sometimes. Im from New Hampshire. My question for governor johnson. How can you make college more accessible to students . Bernie sanders was here today, a couple blocks from here, four or five blocks from campus. He is still for free tuition. The tuition here is 29,000 a year. Thats covering board and everything. 29,000. Bernie says he will make it free for State College tuition. Where are you on that . Thats not a libertarian solution, i would think. I would like the point out the reason for the high cost in the first place. The reason for High College Tuition in the first place is guaranteed government Student Loans. If guaranteed government Student Loans were to have never existed, i would guess cost of College Tuition would be half of what it is. There is a skewed apply and demand and government has
interjected itself in that. I think students have been sold a bill of goods. Theyre graduating from college today with a home mortgag wiout the home. I would cerinly be open to legislation that similar to the bailout of wall street that somehow gets kids sblookd much lower Interest Rates when it comes to Student Loans. If youre going to offer free College Tuition for public institutions, you will bankrupt the entire private university system. And the model of the future is the free education. Kindergarten through doctoral degree on any single whatsoever. Where does that money come from . If you dont to have pay tuition, who pays the professor . Weve become locked in this model that we have now. Libertarians are all about compensation about, free market, bringing competition. How many here are here only
because they could get a loan . How many . How many paid the tuition full bill . How did the other guys get here . Are you all on scholarship . I went to holy cross on Student Loans. Im saying if Student Loans didnt exist, you wouldnt, you would have paid half. For a lot of kids, they wouldnt to have gone school. If everybody boycotted college because of the high cost college. Tuition would drop significantly. [ applause ] im being told through mechanical information, there is a lot of twitter excitement because of what you said about Hillary Clinton and the nuclear but t button. You believe that. I think shes going to shoot. I think shes going to shoot. She wont be herself, she wont be perceived as weak. Shes going to shoot. Well be back with gary johnson and bill weld. Two children and a female teacher were injured in a shooting at a South Carolina elementary school. The suspected attacker, a teenager, is in custody. . Former israeli president and Prime Minister shimon peres died today two weeks after suffering
a stroke. President obama will attend his funeral in jerusalem on friday. And in a new nbc News Survey Monkey poll, 52 of likely voters say Hillary Clinton won mondays debate. 21 say donald trump did. Back to hardball. Welcome back to this beautiful room here at the university of New Hampshire which is celebrating its 150th year in existence. Were back now with the libertarian ticket. A little lightning round. Maybe well make some news. Who is your favorite foreign leader . Just name any continent, any leader. Anybody. Shimon peres. Im talking about living. Go ahead. You have to do this. Anywhere. Any continent. Name a foreign leader that you respect. I guess im having an aleppo moment. Im giving you the whole world. I know, i know. Anybody in the world you like. Pick any leader. The form he president of mexico. Which one . Im having a brain name anybody. Who is your favorite leader. Any foreign leader. . Merkel. Cant argue with that. Who is your favorite president in history . Jefferson. First libertarian. What do you think them getting rid of their jackets. The constitution did have news. So you wouldnt get rid of it. I wouldnt. Jeffersonian liberals. We love jefferson. Who is your Favorite Supreme Court justice . There are eight of them. Current. Right now. Maybe kennedy. Kennedy. Okay. Lets bring up the next question. Life line. Go ahead. For gary johnson. My name is justin. Im from long island, new york. I have a question. What do you plan on doing to combat the misconduct against africanamericans and police . You know, i do believe black lives matter, the movement matters. There is discrimination exists. Blacks are being shot at a much higher rate than whites, being arrested and ending up going to jail. I think as president of the
United States, with the department of justice that we could find the common threads. The least. A discrimination exists. The best incidents of violence exists as opposed to worst threads of discrimination. Worst threads of violence. Could drive it from the federal standpoint. Do you think there is purposeful bias . I wont call it purposeful but it is real. It is real. It does exist. I would recommend everybody watch the o. J. Simpson documentary. Did he do it in. Did he do it . Yes. He did it. But why did the verdict turn out as did it . Well, it was based on everything that transpired prior to that verdict. Atrocious actions on the part of police were not prosecuted. I think from police we need
intensive training to get over this prejudice against blacks. And ive seen intensive training work. When i came into office in massachusetts, we had a big epidemic of battered women. Black and blue every sunday morning. The judges didnt get it. They would ask, what did you do to irritate your boyfriend or your husband last night should we had the police come in and train our dges. And ive backed them up. I was a former federal prosecutor. It had to be delicious for the Police Training judges. It really worked. They knew what was going on. And the judges were clueless and they got it after a while. The cops are called in again and again for domestic violence. I commuted the sentences of the women who tried to defend themselves with a curling iron when their husbands and boyfriends were trying to beat them on death. Hang in there. Well know back at the university of New Hampshire. Welcome back. The libertarian ticket for president and Vice President. Our next student questioner. Go ahead. Im kate from san francisco, california. Im a student here at the university of New Hampshire. My question is for you, gary johnson. A lot of candidates recently throughout the campaign have been talking about cutting planned parenthood. I want to know what your opinion is on it. Whether you would cut it or what is your stance on planned parenthood . Bill and i are pledging that we are going to submit a balanced budget to congress in the first 100 days. That would be a 20 reduction in all of federal spending. We would plan on cutting planned
parenthood 20 along everything with else. But what we on do as president and Vice President is we would stand up to republicans that would say, look, balancing the federal budget is not eliminating planned parenthood. Give us a break. Im from New Hampshire, im a student here. This question is for governor johnson. With less than two months left in the election season, how do you plan to gain a Competitive Edge against hillary and trump . This has to do it right here. This right here. Thank you, Chris Matthews. Thank you, msnbc. No, look. [ applause ] we keep plugging away and by our analytics, we keep rising. Hopefully well be in the second and third debates. In my opinion, the only chance we have of winning is to be in the president ial debates. I do think that this could where are you strongest in
terms of the 15 . What are your big states . That would be new mexico, utah, idaho, the dakotas. Alaska. Alaska, maine, New Hampshire. I think we have a pretty good showing. Were at 17 plus in 15 states. My name is molly. Im from massachusetts. Im a student here at unh and i was wondering how your campaign planto address whats happening on College Campuses and the campus save act which only really supplies victims with second class treatment. Being aware of it for starters. It is something that exists and when you recognize that the preponderance, for to you claim that you have been sexually
assaulted, the odds are against you from the very beginning to the point that you just dont do it. So recognizing it. Recognizing that it is rampant and that the deck is stacked against you. As the woman. How many women here, or men, everybody, how many believe it is a problem here as well as elsewhere . Yes, yes. Boy. Thats a bad showing right there. Thank you. Like the battered womens situation i was talking about. You have to take it seriously and change the culture. And that involves aerating it and making sure these things become public and theyre aerated in public. And then the culture of science and culture of wink, wink, will go away. Thank you. Next question. My name is stephanie. Im a student at the university of New Hampshire as well. Money and politics has been a huge issue throughout this election. I was wondering how your campaign is funded and how that
affects your ideals. Interestingly right now, apparently hillary is spending more money than we have trying to discredit us. So we dont have a lot of money. In the context of money, i think that there shk Unlimited Campaign contributions. But that there should be 100 transparency. Something that doesnt exist today. Something that is misunderstood is when you limit campaign contribution, basically, thats incoupkucouple benlsy protectio. It goes to those people that have a name and that things stay very status quo. Ive always been also supportive of candidates wearing nascar jackets with patches commensurate with the size how do you say Koch Brothers on your uniform . That there would be 100
transparency. So yeah. As a fact checker, you could make sure. Do you think thats a libertarian idea . To make people wear a costume to show where their moneycostuming . Very libertarian myself. I do get cross ways with the Libertarian Party once in a while. Its an open debate and discussion. You cant say one person one vote when somebody is spending 20 million on a campaign. When one person spends 20 million on a campaign and publicly acknowledges that, then thats up front and center and that person for 20 million may be able to support you cant turn on the Television Without listening to their advertising. Its like big brother. Its relentless. That does affect voting, doesnt it . Its coupled if you have a billionaire that gave half a billion to bill and i and gets us elected, thats going to be for the benefit of the country. Around currently you cant do that. Ive been seeing faces turning in both directions saying they dont agree with you. Weve got more questions from
the audience when we return from the university of New Hampshire. Commensurate. Lepes foods is a locally owned here in santa rosa. As a small business, were always looking to save money, and pg e was able to help us. I help the Small Businesses save money and energy. It feels great. We looked at their lighting, their refrigeration system, and with just those two small measures, they were able to save a good amount of money. I was shocked. I couldnt believe that i could save 1,500 a month. With the savings that we get from pg e, were able to pass it on to our customers. Its pretty awesome. Learn how your business can save at pge. Com businessenergycheckup. Together, were building a better california. Were at the university of New Hampshire. What a crowd here with gary johnson and joe weld, the candidates of the Libertarian Party. Weve got a little time left. Lets get some questions from one of the students. Go ahead. Hi. My names elizabeth gerard, im
from marblehead, massachusetts. My question is for governor johnson. I am very worried about my future opportunities. How would you reshape a government for the benefit of my generation . So i think what government can achieve and i did achieve as governor of new mexico is this notion of equal opportunity. The government can provide equal opportunity for everybody. So thats entrepreneurs and crony capitalism. Look, its alive and well. Government does pick winners and losers, but it doesnt have to. So as governor of new mexico i just put an end to it, period, right from the very start. Equal opportunity for everybody. In that context, i had the best record on jobs at least in the 2012 president ial cycle. Next. Thank you, sir. You said that you the support the Transpacific Partnership in its current form would pass it. Given that it was passed in secrecy without the scrutiny of the public, would you consider postponing your support for it and passing it when youre elected president . No, i think that and heres a pledge that the two of us have made also is that were going to support anything that makes things better, and we do believe that it makes things better and free trade in our opinion is all about more u. S. Jobs, not fewer u. S. Jobs. So this eliminates a whole lot of tariffs. May there be issues with tpp . Certainly. But i think that it reduces crony capitalism as opposed to promotes it and it excludes china, but i think bill has some things to say. I want to use this time from a geopolitical point of view it gives us a beachhead in asia not china. Libertarianism, what does it mean to young people here who have to make big lifetime
choices about the world theyre going to face . What we bring to the table is were fiscally responsible, so were not going to bankrupt the system. Were going to balance the budget, cut down on the national debt. So that there may be some money left over for you all. And if we tinker with social security, its not to kill social security, its so the system will still be there for you all when you come of that age. Anything we do with medicaid and medicare, same purpose. The two establishment Party Candidates have said were not going to touch the entitlements. It just shows theyre not serious about balancing the budget. Its a political statement so they dont take any heat. Were willing to take heat, but were doing it with you all in mind. Socially inclusive. Always coming down on the pro choice, pro gay rights. Pro gay rights. Legalized marijuana. Look, well always come down on the side of you and i being able to make choices in our lives, period. Live free or die. As long as those choices live free or die as long as those choices dont put others in harms way, we are against military intervention, against regime change, and were for free trade.
